Convenient location with fantastic amenities, including kitchen and laundry. Room and bathroom were spotless. Temperature control units worked very well. Love the balcony overlooking one of the busiest streets of Barcelona. Maedeh was super nice and courteous. We really enjoyed our stay.

At first, I was a bit upset because they charged a late check-in fee, which I hadn’t noticed when booking. However, when I arrived late at night, I realized it actually made sense — someone has to stay up and wait for you, which takes time and effort, so I understood.

The location is absolutely perfect — everything is nearby! You have stores like Zara, a market, even a McDonald’s and a Sabadell bank right around the corner in case you need cash for the fee or city tax. The place is super comfortable, and the hosts reply instantly and keep the entire building spotless, even the shared bathrooms.

Keep in mind that it’s on a main avenue, kind of like staying in New York, so of course there’s some street noise — but they provide earplugs, and once you use them, you don’t hear a thing. Honestly, it’s perfect. I first booked for two nights, but ended up extending my stay for nine more because I loved it so much.

Out of all the places I’ve stayed in Barcelona, this one has been the best — great location, comfort, and value for money.

I can recommend the Super Balmes Guest House in all respects. The location is nearly ideal for a first tourist visit to Barcelona. The guest house is two blocks away from Pl. Catalunya where the AeroBus from the airport arrives. Lots of restaurants, coffee shops, a giant department store, and all the unique shops in the old city are all close by.
My only complaint is that the instructions about meeting a staff member for check in made me envision that I was meeting someone on the street to lead me to the apartment on some hidden side street. The \"meeting place\" as described in communications with the guest house is literally the front door of the apartment building and the staff member you are meeting is INSIDE the apartment and you need to be able to contact them (by phone) to let them know you've arrived at the door so they can buzz you in. Be sure you're equipped to use your phone to call a European phone number to contact the person inside. I ended up standing outside the door for 15 minutes waiting for someone to come, while the staff person was inside waiting for me to call.

Property was very clean and looked after well. We stayed in the private bathroom room, however based on how clean it was I would’ve been happy with the shared bathroom. We were allowed early check in which was greatly appreciated. Super convenient as it’s near multiple transport links and very central. Even with being central it was very quiet and the bed was super comfy! 100% would recommend for anyone to stay here.

The rooms are big and it is located in central area. Clean kitchen and bathroom. it is very safe and very convenient. Only cons is that the insulation is not that great, you can here the outside, cars honking or ambulance. They provided ear plug though.

Lovely hotel, highly recommend!

We had a wonderful stay here! Our room was clean, tidy, and spacious — with a lovely terrace. Both the kitchen and bathroom were clean, and effectively stocked so nobody was missing anything. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful!

I highly recommend this hotel for those who want to be close to the heart of the city and close to the beach.

When we arrived it was getting dark,starting to rain and we were somewhat lost. The girl had said to call 40 min before & then she told me to call back when arrived. When she buzzed door, three other people pushed in with us. I told the girl but she said it was okay. It wasn’t. One of the persons, a girl pushed into the elevator with us even though we repeatedly said no room. As we got to our floor or before, we were somewhat aggravated and distracted and our cell phone was pick pocketed. As the hotel rep (girl) met us at the elevator we were busy and distracted and didn’t see where the other girl went. Maybe they were working together. The rep could have easily met us at the door and not let these other people in. She could have easily identified the girl in our elevator as not a guest and called her out. This all could have been easily prevented, unless of course she was assisting. The apartment l, itself was very nice and clean, the other guests respectful, the cleaning staff and phone staff ver accommodating. There were 4 rooms and three baths in the apartment. We had one room and one bath with locks on both. With access to kitchen and common room.

This is not a hotel but a shared apartment space. The location is good, walkable to everything but the rooms are located above a very busy treat and the windows are not sound proofed. I wasn’t able to get any sleep as the street traffic and noise came in so loudly. Very small, no dresser or room for clothes. Bathroom was nice. Check in is strange as you need to be able to phone the host ahead of time so they can meet you. No front desk.

We could've used 2 keys to be able to leave or go back to the guest house separately. Other than that, we liked this guest house as it is located at the perfect spot for public transport, touristic and also shopping purposes. Although we were promised cleaning and towel replacement service in every three days, we didn't mind not getting it. We were happy with using the same towels for a week. My husband really enjoyed the shared kitchen, where we could actually meet the other guests. We would've liked to be able to confer more often with the staff though.

Property was really good in a great location, helpful staff who assisted with my late check in.
Only thing, I was not aware and this was not pointed in the description- we had to share the flat with other guests. It was not something I liked since people were noisy throughout the day and night. The most important issue though was the parties next door which were lasting until 5am with people signing and shouting. That left me tired and unable to enjoy my trip in Barcelona.

The location is perfect, very walkable to tourist areas, close to metro. Restaurants and coffee shops everywhere. Mutual use of the kitchen is good as is the shared bathroom area. Both clean daily. Beware there is a very small elevator to use, otherwise tight staircase. There is road noise 24/7.

Our stuff was dropped out of the room on last night while we were shopping.
They rented out the room while they had other rooms available. This is not professional.
The manager \"Diana\" asked us to pay for one more night that we wanted to stay and get the reservation directly and wanted to charge us \"late fee\". So she pushed us to leave the place at midnight because her request was not reasonable.

Great Location, Inconsiderate hosts !!

1. At check-in time, the room was not ready, even though i came in much after the suggested check in time
2. There was a problem in the apartment, where the light switch kept on tripping and we (different people in the apartment) had to keep on resetting it
3. (This was the worst), At check-out, you guys absolutely refused to let me check out one hour later, ONE HOUR. And on top of that also refused to store the luggage for a couple of hours. As a result I just had to sit and wait in the foyer / lobby (where there are no chairs or anything to sit on) for two hours, sitting on the floor with my luggage till it was time to leave. This last thing, I just found really inconsiderate and pathetic
4. Its a room in an apartment with other guests also staying and 2 shared bathrooms. The bathrooms were almost always dirty and wet. I'm sure much consideration can be given to the cleanliness

A wonderful stay at APTBCN Super Balmes, Barcelona

As you enter the premises, it had a foul door like a dead rat but once you get into the apt the door disappeared. The couch as you enter was a shiny gray. Would be better I think w a warmer color to greet you! The room was spartan but I loved the bathroom because it was the cleanest place of all.

I didn’t know that it was a shared apartment. We were told to put our drinks in an specific place in a shared refrigerator. Yet our water kept disappearing.. our room’s veranda faced the back of bldgs so we never saw the sun. The room was so dark. I suggest that the black shade covering the ceiling lamp be changed to white or beige to give more light to the room. Also maybe add a magnifying mirror in the bathroom for putting make up. Beds were good. I requested more pillows but none given but they were prompt with other requests & very helpful by txt msgs & email.

I wouldn’t mind staying there again if I could have a room fronting the street because the location is perfect & Mariana w her colleagues was an angel.

There was a very expensive late check-in fee (more expensive than the value of a night in the room) that was not listed on the booking prior to my reservation. When I contested it after making a non-refundable booking, the administration refused to entertain my request. The room faces a very busy street, as well, which made the room shake when some large vehicles drove by. I would not stay here again.

The location was good, super central. They were also accommodating of our late check-in (BUT WE HAD TO PAY AN EXTRA 75€ FOR CHECKING IN LATE SO MAKE SURE TO READ THE FINE PRINT BEFORE YOU BOOK FLIGHTS). Rooms were comfortable enough, but the shared bathroom was CONSISTENTLY dirty, which is odd because it seemed like there was always people cleaning?! I'm talking water everywhere all the time, gross showers, it was a mess. We were also supposed to get a towel change and room clean half way through our stay and it just never happened. Place is kind of a cluster so definitely won't be back.

Very nice place. Close to EVERYTHING.

Nice. Close. Convenient. Two minutes walk to La Rambla and Plaza Catalunia. Great restaurants near by and safe area to walk all times. There is a tour agency right in front so it is convenient to buy tours over there. You do have to share bathroom but it was never a problem. It was clean and always available.

Called from the airport pay phone to reception to let them know we were on the way, met Melana right on time when we got to the meeting spot between the two cafes. The entry is a bit dated to the building but one inside the apartment level it was nicely done and went directly into the common kitchen. The kitchen was well appointed we used it for basic cooking each night and the fridge had ample space to store our cold food. Was a short walk from our room to the bathroom which was our only negative but there was alway plenty of hot water and good pressure. The common area was always tidy and clean and our room itself was clean too. Great spot close to all the main attractions.

Well-located apartment in Barcelona

The building where the apartment is based was not easily recognisable from the street, but once you find it, you'd feel pleased at how centrally-located it is in Barcelona. Plaza de Catalunya is just nearby, and so are the underground Metro train stations so easily accessible. The building has a lift which makes it easier to carry luggage to the 2rd floor where the apartment is, however, it smelled of dead rat. The bathrooms and kitchen, though very modern and clean, are shared. We only stayed for 3 days in Barcelona, so it was an excellent accommodation for us.

Very central and for the price it was great

Great location and for the price we were amazed how central it was. Metro stops and transfers a 3 minute walk away at Placa De Catalunya.

Chris met us with the keys outside the apartment and although he was a little later than arranged, he helped us a lot with directions and transport advice.

The apartment itself looks quite unassuming and a little run down from outside but the actual inside of the apartment is very clean, spacious and ideal for us. We were just a group of mates but would definitely recommend.

Person who helped us with check-in was pleasant and friendly and spoke perfect English. The front door is sturdy and secure and the hotel feels very safe. We hardly saw any of the other guests, and especially didn't see them in the shared bathroom. Our room was comfortable but would have been better with air conditioning...it was very hot. Good sized kitchen, shared refrigerator, and separate smoking area. Within a block's distance to the metro and the ramblas so there is some night time noise but nothing that was over-the-top.

Perfect place to stay for a city trip

This apartment is only 5 minutes walking distance away from the shopping mile and the palza catalunya. Public transportation is reachable within in 5 minutes walking. You will find lots of restaurants, cafes and little bars in the neighbourhood.

The apartment was clean and the rooms where big. Overall I would recommend this place for everyone who is looking for an inexpensive and clean place to stay.

Amazing downtown location, walk everywhere.

Small clean rooms in the city center. Super low price for what you get. Cons are, its noisy in the city center with traffic 24x7 and it can get hot in the summer with only a room fan to keep you cool. Shared bathroom and kitchen work well. Overall, it unbeatable value.

Great value but READ THE FINE PRINT

We stayed here at super balmes and also the APTBCN Rambla location. The apartments are spacious,clean, modern; there were 2-3 bathrooms, more than enough for the guests.

Be careful about when you arrive; there is no reception so of they need to meet you after hours (after 8p) there is an extra charge; if you're only staying 1 or 2 nights it will make a big difference in price.

Others than check in there's no real \"service\" but cleaning and fresh towels daily. You have space in the fridge and we made breakfast each morning which was nice. We had a very pleasant stay and I would certainly book again.

The guesthouse is in a great location - you are staying in the thick of it with handy access to the metro, airport bus and all the hop on - hop off tourist buses. The shared facilities are nice enough (kitchen and bathrooms) and the room was clean. Be aware there is no air con (only a fan) and Barcelona can get pretty hot. The staff member who met us at check in was very helpful. Be aware if you check in after hours there is a fee, we didn't realize. Overall not bad.

They were all very helpful and kind and courteous staff members, as well as some of the guests staying in the accommodation.
If you are looking for centrally located and excellent prices this is a great place, with no frills. The bathrooms and common areas are cleaned daily and it is great to have your own personal room. Mine even included an outdoor balcony which was a great addition to lookout on the street and get fresh air.
Would definitely stay here again in the future !! Lots of nice cafes, shops, and a short walk to the metro, marina, and airport bus.

Barcelona hotels in the middle of summer are quite expensive. Apartment Balmes was a good option for budget travels as it was clean, quiet and in a great location. There were two bathrooms for five rooms in the shared apartment, which was fine because we rarely saw the other guests or needed to wait for the bathroom. There was a kitchen and fridge to use as well if you wanted. The location was fantastic, right near Placa de Catalunya with a bunch of great shopping and La Rambla nearby.The only downside was that it wasn't air conditioned, but many apartments don't have air conditioning in Barcelona, so it was somewhat expected. It was definitely worth the price and I would definitely recommend it as a no frills good value for money place to lie you head. The lady that gave us our keys was also very friendly and helpful. She gave us many great tips and highlighted all the main attractions on a map saving us a trip to tourist information. Overall we were pleased with the accommodation.

great value place for a short weekend away - perfect location (within short walking distance to placa catalunya and the ramblas). check in staff went above and beyond giving info and tips for the local area. communal areas were well equipped (fridge/freezer, kettle, hob, pots and pans, microwave, toaster, hairdryer etc) and cleaned daily to a high standard. only downfall is the lack of aircon in high temperatures, but the rooms have fans which helps. the street is also loud but that comes with the good location. if you want to see the city and all barcelona has to offer this is a great place to stay on budget. thanks again aptbcn! i would certainly stay here again if i were to revisit

Great for a short break on a budget

Ideal for those looking to stay for a short break without paying a fortune. Fantastic location, really central, just off Las Ramblas. Found the staff, Rebecca, very helpful and informative. Plenty of space and storage, decent bed and good kitchen facilities. Only slight downside was that as it's off a busy road, traffic could be noisy. There was also no air conditioning nor could I get the balcony door to open which could leave the room quite stuffy, however none of this affected my enjoyment of my stay.

Not good, only use as either a last resort...

... or if you have severe budget constraints or if you are travelling in a large group and can book the whole place out.

The description of the apartment is WRONG, you actually share the apartment with strangers and although it is fairly clean it is pretty shabby.

We stay there for 3 nights,very convenient metro just very near to the apartment, only thing is the bed's spring not so good cannot have a very good night sleep!

We stayed at Apartment Balmes for four nights for our year anniversary, and were VERY happy with our choice! The apartments are very clean and comfortable, the kitchen very well equipped and the location is perfect, just 2 minutes from Plaza Catalunya and La Rambla. Eric, who checked us in, was very helpful - giving us maps and telling us where to go, what to avoid etc. I would definitely recommend it!

Amazing Stay would definitely recommend and return!

Found the place quite easily, meet with Bruno who was very friendly and helpful. Had an elevator which was a plus. Apartment looked exactly like the pictures. Perfect location right in plaza catalunya, walking distance to Las Ramblas, Casa Batllo, supermarket, shops everything you need. Metro is 2 mins away. Bruno gave us a map and lots of great advice on barcelona. Apartment was very clean and very nice bathrooms. Huge rooms. Loved our stay and would love to return and highly recommend to anyone going to barcelona!!!

Perfekt att utgå från i Barcelona

Mitt i allting, nära till Hop-On bussen, lokalbussar, shopping! Frukost direkt utanför dörren! Trevlig värd, väldigt service inrikad! Allt toppen, vi valde ett rum med egen toa, men de som dela hade direkt utanför deras dörr en toa!

Je ne recommande pas cet hébergement si vous souhaitez la tranquillité, qui est plus une auberge, du fait qu’il n’y a pas de réception, et qu’il n’était pas indiqué qu’il fallait partager salle de bain, et toilettes avec d’autres usagers

Sans oublier le bruit du fait de son emplacement

Die Unterkunft ist sehr sauber und modern eingerichtet. Sie liegt fußläufig zu allen gängigen Sehenswürdigkeiten und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Aufgrund der Lage ist es tagsüber recht laut jedoch wird es zur Nacht hin ruhiger. Check-In war unkompliziert und das Personal ist sehr nett. Wir würden jederzeit wieder buchen! :)

Wir haben die Unterkunft versehentlich in Gemeinschaftsnutzung gebucht. Die Bilder haben uns irritiert. Der Hotelbesitzer hat keinerlei Verständnis gezeigt, wir hätten die Hälfte der bisher getätigten Zahlung zusätzlich zahlen müssen, um ein eigenständiges Bad zu erhalten. Die Unterkunft liegt sehr zantral und bietet kaum preiswerte Parkmöglichkeiten. Die nächstgelegenen in koorperation mit dem Hotel, lag ungefähr 1km entfernt
(was noch bezahlbar war). Wer keine Mitbewohner scheut ist hier richtig!
