Fantastic location! Great room ( double with balcony) excellent kitchen facilities making breakfast and lunch easy and hassle free. Staff went above and beyond to help us out when we found ourselves in need.
Street below was busy and a bit noisy but ear plugs completely changed the game.

We're 2 seniors who enjoyed staying here!

We are two seniors who spent 4 nights here. Although our room was very small, it was well-designed. We spent our days as tourists and came back to the room briefly before heading out again in the evening. The location is very convenient for shopping, restaurants, and the flamenco show which we saw at the City Hall.
We were able to travel easily using public transit. The bed was firm but comfortable. The room had very good lighting options, and sufficient electric plugs for charging our devices. As we were on the same floor as the breakfast area, the clatter of dishes could sometimes be heard in the mornings, but it was nice and quiet at night. We really appreciated the thoughtful extra touches including little gifts left in the room on our arrival. Overall, as budget travelers, it was a great choice!

The place was acceptable. There was no reception in the building, you had to walk around the block to check-in or if you needed something. Cleaning was decent. I had a room with a balcony and the street was noisy. Bring earplugs. The breakfast is very basic, but it was available 24 hrs.

I know the area very well. At first I thought wow the room was in the small side but you don’t go on holiday to live in your hotel

+s safe & secure; close to metro lines 1,2,3; a lot of restaurants , bars attractions all within walking distance , nice n quiet overnight , excellent kitchen facility on 1st floor for breakfast, very efficient & friendly staff, the cleanliness , great air-con , a big Aldi 2 doors down , check in is just around the corner in Carrer de Gravina

-s not a tremendous amount of space for hanging /storing clothes but you cope; not having a tea making facility in the room but offset by the kitchen facility on 1st floor - you can make a cup have there or take up to your room

Good location, room was nice with a good balcony. The bathroom was ridiculously small, with the shower and toilet the size of an airplane cabin!
It also states there is a good selection of food in the common kitchen but it was very limited so don’t rely on this.

This is in a great location and has everything you need. The shared kitchen is stocked with coffee, breakfast, and snacks which was nice in the morning and during siesta. My only complaint is that the mattresses are pretty thin and I woke up with a sore back a few days.

Basic room that meets your needs

Room was very basic. Met our needs and great location for sure. But only one sliding glass door for the shower and the toilet. You can only have one side closed at a time. Which makes it a little awkward if sharing a room with someone. The balcony was awesome to have, loved it. But the sliding glass door for the balcony did not do a good job of blocking out noises from the outside. All in all, a good place to stay for the price and location. Would stay again.

The Expedia ad was misleading. I thought I was staying in a hotel ergo the name \"Chic and Basic Hotel\", however, the Hotel is also connected with a hostel. I was in a dingy hostel room right next to the breakfast area. It was loud in the mornings, there were cockroaches and mould in the shower/toilet area. Definitely spent the least amount of time there as possible during my visit to Barcelona. Nonetheless, the staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming.

We were shown a different room when we booked and when we entered we were given a very unpleasant room where there was only one sliding door so the toilet or the shower would remain open while you were sleeping which was the sort room to stay in. We were clearly shown a different room and given a completely different one, it was uncomfortable to stay in

Location was amazing!

Nicest hostel I’ve stayed is so far(besides the smell of cigarette smoke). The room wasn’t huge, but the bed was big and comfy. Make sure you read the check in instructions in the confirmation, since there is no reception at this location, you have to go to their other location (about a 3 minute walk, it’s close). The door of the hostel doesn’t have a big sign or anything so just make sure you’re looking at the address. location is great, great bars and restaurants and shops all on the same street and metro is on the same block.

The rooms don't look like the pictures. It is literally a bedsit style room super small. There is no reception in the building so you have to go to a sister property around the corner.
Its not a bad hotel, but it is basic and small!

Good room to stay for a few days in Barcelona

The hotel is cute, the room is pretty small but comfortable. There is a 24 hour breakfast bar, you can have a snack at anytime you want. The front desk staff was very friendly and professional. What I didn’t like is the toilet right next to your bed but everything else was perfect. The location and is great for the price you pay.

Stayed for one night in a single room as I had to be at the university. As the name suggests, it's basic. The chicness came in the form of nice toiletries, a music player and a complementary cotton tote bag. It is not a hotel, but 2 converted apartments on the 1st and 2nd floors of a residential building. The room itself was tiny and lacked a surface - desk/bedside cabinet - to put your things on. The 'bathroom' is not a separate room, but separated from the bed by means of a sliding door. The shower is good. I knew breakfast was a make it yourself affair in a communal kitchen in the 1st floor apartment. In theory, this should be fine. However a group of guests completely took over leaving nowhere for anyone else to sit. I was there early and one of the party was preparing breakfast for her entire group and she had already set the table for them long before they got up. On the plus side, the coffee was very good. Unfortunately that's all I managed to get for breakfast and I drank it standing. The staff are pleasant and the location was perfect for me. However, it was a bit expensive when compared to what else is available. My colleagues paid the same for double rooms in nearby 4 star hotels. Overall, it's exactly as described. If that's what you want, go for it. I have no complaints, but it just wasn't for me.

Self serve food available 24 hours a day. a bit trick to check-in. you have to go around the block to Chick and Basic Lemon otherwise a basic hotel. lots of places to eat and walk around. Airport bus drops you off at University and its less than 5 mins to hotel.

The reception desk is in another hotel which is fine as it is only a 2 min walk. The staff were friendly enough but the lady in charge of the breakfast area had a very bad attitude and she selectively asked those going there about their room numbers which felt inappropriate.
The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and had everything you needed for a short stay though it was very small.
The main PLUS going for this hotel is the location which is a few minutes walk from La Rambla and 1 minute walk from one of the main Metro stations in Barcelona.
I recommend it for a short stay.

Aptly named, but more basic than chic

Aptly named I would say, but more basic than chic. It suited our needs with its central location and affordable price for a night. Definitely for those who plan to be out and about Barcelona and only coming back to the hotel to sleep. Space is very small and a bit cramped but the bed was decently comfy. Check in was actually at Chic & Lemon around the block (which looked really nice), but guests of Chic&Basic were allowed to take advantage of the amenities there too, such as the elegant sun terrace and free water and coffee. Service at check in and check out was nice and pleasant.

We arrived and were made to move to a different hotel and in the end then an apartment down the street from the second hotel. Upon arrival it was not explained to us why but that the hotel was fully booked. We had to go back to the original hotel each day for breakfast and the first morning a member of staff explained that there had been a problem in our room and we were changed. It was also explained the apartment was an upgrade and that the original hotel was intact a hostel. This was not how it was sold on the website and it was quite an inconvenience arriving late and being made to move. While the apartment was ok, it was on the opposite of the city where we wanted to be and quite noisy and cold. It made the start of our trip very annoying an inconvenient.

Yes, there is no sign Chic& Basic Tallers at your hotel, just 82. Yes, check in/office for this hotel is at their sister hostel Chic&Basic Lemon, behind this one. Yes, the hotels are not connected through the buildings - you have to go outside. Yes, rooms are small. Yes the shower/toilet setup is cramped and inconvenient. Yes, there are no frills in your room. BUT... We received outstanding helpful service. The place was clean. The hotels are in a great area close to La Ramblas, Placa De Catalunya, Metro, great shops and the airport shuttle. They have complimentary wonderful breakfast options, 24 hr coffee and at the \"Lemon\" a calming patio to relax in. Besides all this, we paid much less than the other Ramblas hotels in the area. You have to decide what is important to you.....

Small room but it worked for our needs. Don't bring big suitcases or they won't fit in the room. Great location near Metro stops. Very easy to get to from the airport. Only complaints were the remotes didn't operate but we didn't stay in the room other than to clean up and sleep. The free food in the common area was a bonus.

Small, comfortable hotel close to the university

Just what I needed for a short conference visit, travelling alone. The room I had was compact but comfortable, with air conditioner and private bathroom. Breakfast is very basic, coffee and cereal available in a communal space. But there are dozens of coffee shops around, offering a croissant and cappuccino for 3 euros, if you need variety. Note that reception is located around the corner, so coming and going feels more like coming home to an apartment than to a hotel. Very convenient location to the university, with lots of shopping, restaurants (including a brewery, wine bars, etc.) in short walking distance.

Une forte odeur de canalisation et de renfermé était présente dans la chambre. J'en ai parlé avec la personne qui gère l'accueil mais qui est dans un autre établissement. Nous avons communiqué par mail et ses réponses étaient très rapide. Cependant, impossible de me faire changer de chambre car il n'y avait plus de place. Cet incident fâcheux fut vraiment déplaisant même si un produit pour estomper un peu les odeurs a été mit dans les canalisations après ma demande. J'ai demandé à changer de chambre et jai donc dû retourner à l'accueil (extérieur à l'hotel) afin de récupérer la nouvelle carte et déposer celle de ma chambre. Le personnel a été réactif je n'ai rien à redire sur ce point mais le problème n'a pas été résolu en temps et en heure et ca c'est un bémol. Aussi, les chambres deviennent vétustes de par l'humidité etc.. donc on a beau nettoyer ca ne suffit plus. C'est dommage. L'option salle à manger et petit déjeuner est vraiment bien. La salle est entretenu et propre.

La ubicación muy buena y el trato recibido también, pero la ducha y el inodoro están ubicados en lo que debería ser un armario con lo cual si hacías tus necesidades tenias el olor allí casi continuo y el desayuno en una nevera con tuppers para el embutido y sin instrucciones para la cafetera o el microondas,self-service TOTAL por lo demás la habitación muy limpia y como digo el trato inmejorable aunque las fotos de la web no tienen nada que ver con la habitación que nosotros tuvimos....

Las habitaciones son chicas y con poco espacio, el baño y la regadera comparten una puerta corrediza, por lo que, si usas uno, el otro queda abierto.
El edificio es viejo y un tanto descuidado.

Se escucha mucho el ruido de los demas cuartos y del área común.
Definitivamente no se parece a las fotos

El área común es de lo mejor, un espacio para tomar café, agua, jugo, fruta y un sandwich y todo muy fresco

Séjour dans un Hostal

Le jour de mon arrivée, j'ai été surpris qu'il n'y pas d'accueil.
Les chambres sont situées sur 2 étages dans un immeuble d'habitation.
Après avoir téléphoné à l'hôtel, personne n'a décroché, c'est en appelant Hotels.com, que l'on m'a dit qu'il fallait se présenté à un autre hôtel pour s'enregistrer. L'autre hôtel Chic&Basic Reding Hôtel est situé Caller de Gravina à 200m. Tout cela a duré 45 mn.
Il faut qu'une personne de l'accueil, si elle est disponible, vous accompagne pour vous explique qu'il y a 2 badges quand vous êtes logés au 2ème étage, car pour le petit déjeuner il fauit descendre au 1er étage et vous vous servez dans le frigo, dans les tiroirs, ... .
La chambre est correcte mais avec une seule porte coulissante pour la douche et les sanitaires, quand vous êtes sous la douche les sanitaires sont ouverts; tout seul, cela n'est pas gênant, mai s à 2 cela peut l'être.
Manque porte serviettes de toilette, lavabo directement dans la chambre sans tablette pour déposer trousse de toilette, -toute petite armoire, 2 patères pour les vêtements, en hiver cela peut être compliqué, à moins de mettre les vêtements sur l'unique chaire ou le bureau ou... au sol. Point positif, grand lit, ce que j'avais choisi.
Le jour de mon départ, j'ai déposé mes bagages à la consigne de l'autre hôtel, la personne à l'accueil, qui était présente à mon retour dans l'après-midi, aimable comme une porte de prison.
L'information de devoir se présenter à un autre hôtel est renseignée nulle part.

Per il prezzo pagato, la camera era troppo piccola e il bagno prefabbricato e piccolissimo senza bidet. La colazione paragonabile a quella di un B&B, non di un albergo.
La pulizia e il personale, eccellenti.

Sijainti loistava. Keskeisimmät kohteet kävelymatkan päässä ja hyvien kulkuyhteyksien varrella.

Pienet, mutta siistit remontoidut huoneet. Kadulta ei ainakaan meidän huoneeseen kuulunut ääntä, mutta muiden vieraiden liikkeistä sitäkin enemmän. Hotellin vastaanotto eri rakennuksessa, joten käynti erillisen oven kautta, jossa ei aulavalvontaa.

Itsepalveluaamupala, jossa perus leipätarvikkeet ja hedelmää. Voit hyödyntää tätä myös muuten päivän aikana.

Die Unterkunft ist sehr zentral und modern eingerichtet. Die Klimaanlage ist perfekt für das Wetter. Sehr nettes Personal und unkompliziertes Ein- und Ausschecken.

Na vdd não é um quarto com banheiro privativo, é um quarto que adaptaram com um vaso apertado, uma ducha apertada, uma pia como armario no meio do quarto, enfim um arranjo que se cobra como quarto com banheiro privado. Para casal é impraticável.
A porta do predio fica aberta e entra qq um no predio, a recepcao é em outro hotel a 500 mts. Achei bem caro pela proposta oferecida.
Nao tem exatamente café da manhã e sim uma cozinha com alguns poucos itens para café.
A unica coisa boa no geral é a localização.

Acomodação razoável

Foi razoável. As condições da acomodação são precárias. Não tem nada para colocar uma mala em cima, poucos ganchos para pendurar roupas, banheiro/chuveiro com manchas de limo entre os azulejos e cantos no chão, muito pouco espaço no quarto. Atendimento separado. Dificulta bastante. Não existe uma geladeira que possa ser utilizada pelo hóspede.
