Room was spartan - nothing in it to make it welcoming. Bed really uncomfortable - like sleeping on a rock. Room really warm - no way to adjust temperature. Bathroom extremely dated - shower cubicle tiny and shabby. Room described as 'soundoroofed' - what a joke! We could hear literally every sound from the room next door. Wifi abysmal - described as being 'over 100Mbps' - I did a speed test and it was less than 1Mbps. Ended up using my mobile data. The only positive I can give this hotel is the location.

Everything was clean and working in the room, if a little dated and in need of a freshen up. But for the price it was suitable and handy for the historical centre.
Unfortunately my room was right next to the lift so some noise was heard.

The single room was as expected, although tight on space in the en-suite it had everything i needed and was clean and the bed comfy. The only problem is the tv is positioned too high on the wall so you cannot see the picture on the screen properly. It needs to be lowered. Overall a pleasant stay for a very reasonable price.

I stayed at the Universal for 11 nights. My room was clean, the sheets and blankets as good as new, and attended to every day. It was quiet with no traffic noise and the occasional sounds from other rooms stopped at a reasonable hour. The staff were all friendly, helpful and simpatico. The hotel is in an excellent location about 8 minutes walk to the Cathedral the heart of historic Murcia. The Universal is completely unpretentious, great value for money and I will definitely return.

I checked in at the hotel and 15 minutes later when I found another hotel I checked out. The room had a terrible musty smell, the TV was smaller than my laptop monitor. the “sofabed” was bad looking. Not to mention the horrible intense yellow color on the walls of the room. The only good experience was the guys at the reception

I always try to be positive, but, this was one of the poorest hotels we have stayed at.

As we approached the hotel we thought it was shut as it was so dimly lit. The receptionist wasn't positive or welcoming, reflecting the ambience in the foyer.

The bedroom was very small room and an even smaller bathroom. Mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. We could hear everything from the next rooms..... everything! As people came in through the night their movements and chatter resonated through our room.

The bedding smelled stale and the room had the odour of smoking.

There was a total of one electrical socket for two people by the beds, but no electrical socket by the desk and chair. The TV was so small it was virtually impossible to see from being in bed.

The one positive - the shower was warm.

If we could have left for another hotel after checking in, we would have.

In light of our experience we chose not to have breakfast, in preference using one of the cafeterias in the vicinity.

I spent here a couple of nights. The property is very clean, simple but with all things you may need. In a very good position, few minutes walking from the cathedral.
The staff is friendly, kind and ready to help: shout out for the receptionist who made my check-in and check-out (Jose if I'm not wrong) who's been always super kind, cheerful Ang happy to help and give good advice.

the rooms are not as shown in the photo, the beds are uncomfortable, there are flying insects. I think I was deceived because I never thought that the rooms would be so ugly, otherwise I would never have stayed in that hotel. You should put real photos and that customers can have the option to decide without complaining.

The towels had a strange unpleasant smell. The air conditioning was a trickle of air that we could not control , so it was hot and stuffy during the night.

WiFi instructions were not only complicated although only in Spanish, so impossible to use.

Overall not very impressed although this was a budget hotel although we do think if the hotel advertises a service then they should supply these services. We would not return again.

Cealing collapsed. No water. No amenities

The hotel was horrible nothing else to say. The staff was rude at check in. The room was small and have no climate control. The window did not shut or lock. Every whisper in any room adjacent was clearly audible. The ceiling collapsed in the lobby. There was no water for one day. Everything there was dark and dreary. I guess that’s why they call it one star. Well I see it as a neutron star collapsing in on itself.

moving to the neighborhood

I selected this hotel because it was the most affordable option in the neighborhood. I knew I wanted to go house hunting in this part of town because it is safe and close to the center. There are three main people who work at he reception. Two women, who are very similar looking but they are not the same person. Both of the ladies are nice, but one of them is so kind, friendly and helpful. She made my short visit so nice. There is also a man but he is kind of a grumpy person. Also, you're supposed to leave your room key at the desk when you leave to go out. I liked that because I knew I wouldn't have to worry about losing or breaking it because it is made out of plastic.

El hotel está bien, muy cerquita de todo , yo fui desde la estación de autobuses andando y tarde unos quince minutos , tienes cerca la catedral y sitios de interés. El personal es agradable.
El hotel está limpio, la cama limpia, y personalmente la relación calidad precio es muy buena . La única pega es la ducha que cuesta un poquito regularla.

La atención buenísima, la habitación sencilla, colchón bueno, lo peor fue la ducha soy una persona pequeña y delgada y no cabia era de 40x40 jamás he visto algo así, no podia agacharme a enjabonarme porque no entraba, se salió todo el agua, eso es angustioso, una reforma urgente. La ubicación cerca del casco antiguo, el barrio es un poco decadente... Pero caminando a 6 minutos estás en el centro. El personal increiblemente atento y amable. Un precio justo por la habitación a la que solo fui a dormir y a ducharme.
