Location was great for a day trip to the keys. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean but drain in shower was very slow and toilet was easy to clog. And the breakfast was not good, we tried it all of the days we stayed and the eggs never better. So we stuck with yogurts and muffins. Thankful we had that option though!

Hotel was short staffed and didn’t have rooms ready at check in time. Had to wait 15 min till we got our room. Floors were still dirty once we got into our room. Rooms are very outdated. Tv didn’t have a remote. Called the front desk the first night we were there to ask for one and they said they would bring one, which they didn’t. The next day asked again and finally got a remote brought to us.

The hotel had many pros and cons. The room was as depcited in photos but definitely needed some updating. For instance, the wall paint was upkept, but the table and chairs had severe flaws. Plus - warm shower, negative - water leaking. Plus - nice swim area, negative - water too cold to swim. It was very much one positive one negative for most things. But staff was friendly and accommodating and it is truly a gateway to the Keys (our final destination). Overall, it gets a 3.

My daughter and I stayed one night at the Best Western Gateway to the Keys in Florida City, and the experience was very disappointing. We asked if we could check in just 15 minutes early because we had a wedding 35 minutes away, and although the room was already ready, we were told we would have to pay a $30 early check-in fee to enter before 4 PM. The lack of flexibility and customer service was frustrating.

Unfortunately, the room itself was also uncomfortable. The air conditioner was extremely noisy and the room felt damp all night—by morning even our clothes felt slightly damp. Also, floors were dirty as evident of black feet from walking barefoot. Breakfast was just okay, but several items had already run out. Overall, it was not a pleasant stay and we would not choose this hotel again.

We could not suggest staying at this property. As much as I don’t like to give bad reviews, we were tired and room was noisy. The breakfast was the same packaged egg sandwich and quiche every morning. We finally went out for breakfast! The sheets felt like sandpaper! We checked out a day early and moved to a nicer spot.

The hotel property was overall well maintained and comfortable - except for the bed! The king size bed mattress was broken down, lumpy and sunken on one side! One of the worst beds I have slept on in 40 years of traveling!
If I were to stay here again, and I might, it would only be with an assurance of a new mattress!

The rooms were clean with a nicely landscaped pool. The bathrooms are in need of a desperate upgrade otherwise it was fine. The breakfast options were great and staff were very helpful and friendly. Something to keep in mind if you’re a light sleeper, the walls of the rooms are very very thin and we could hear every conversation from the room next to us. All in all, it was worth the price we paid for the room.

The heat didn't work, the handheld shower head didn't turn off all the way, the refrigerator was noisy enough that we unplugged it and the toilet plugged up. I felt sorry for the staff member that had to keep offering blankets to those that complained that their room had no heat, it wasn't just our room. Now I know why when he said they were available 24 hours a day if we needed anything like a plunger. This motel needs some major maintenance work!
