Look I don’t like giving anything other than stellar reviews but I felt a bit blindsided when I booked this place for a couple reasons. So I’ll start with the bad and move to the good.

First thing I noticed pulling up is it is directly across from a methadone clinic. Not their fault and I get they don’t want to advertise it but it gives the wrong impression when you pull up and there’s people on the nod right across the street. That said I walked the neighborhood at dusk and no one bothered me so it’s not like it’s unsafe, just unfortunate and a little jarring.

Being an inner city hotel it also doesn’t have secure parking for larger vehicles so if you have one it’s parked out back of the building. They have security cameras but those only help after a crime if at all. I don’t know how to solve that either short of making the outdoor parking gated.

Lastly and certainly leastly the AC wasn’t working while I was there, for 3 days. I get it’s costly to get rush work done but sometimes it’s essential for your business. Luckily it wasn’t too hot but only by a couple of degrees. And again no heads up on it or warning while booking.

Onto the good stuff. Staff was awesome, very helpful and accommodating, definitely went above and beyond given the circumstance. Rooms were clean and well maintained. The location is actually pretty good with access to public transit and some local gems including DND soul kitchen a block east which is real authentic soul and worth the stop.

Me and my kids didn't have a car, but the property had an underground garage which kept the cars safe, about the rooms they were good and well maintained but when we asked for cleaning services, our beddings were not changed. The staff were helpful and they used to come in our room asking if we needed room services which was Amazing.
Breakfast was wonderful, they had a variety of breakfast buffet to eat.
The only amenity which needed attention was the elevator, one was already stuck , unfortunately our last night there me and my son and other two people were stuck in the elevator for 30 minutes and when we called at the front desk, we didn't receive response immediately. We had to call 911 , who came to help.
Other that that, ill recommend for this stay to a family or friend.

The room was nice but the hotel seemed to be located in a shady spot of town which caused us some concern. The parking garage was nice to have under lock and key, but the garage door was too low for a pick-up to pass under without scratching the roof of the truck. They were having elevator issues and some customers had to use the stairs. This is difficult with luagage to be toted up several flights of stairs.

We went for an event at Tacoma Dome - upon arriving they had one poor staff person trying to check in the long line of guests. Parking was a nightmare, elevators were broken, and the dingy stairwell to get up to our room had cigarette butts etc in it. Room was fine, basic. Hotel was quiet, dated, and very so-so. Breakfast was adequate & did the trick. For a hotel close to our venue, great. But if I were going for any other reason - would not stay here again.

Parking was secure and had a decent amount of parking for the fact it was right next to the Tacoma dome. There is a parking lot right behind that but most guests just circled the garage, hoping to find a spot. The rooms were absolutely pristine as far as cleanliness. I left too early to try any breakfast.

Staff was really kind and the room was clean/comfortable. The short walk to the dome was great! Downside is only one elevator works, the stairs from the parking garage are locked so you cant take the stairs to the rooms, and the 2nd stairwell was locked half the time we were there. Check in and check out got really crowded so it was a really long wait for the single elevator.

I was pleasantly surprised by how professionally run, clean and safe this hotel was, considering the location downtown. The property was on par with higher rated hotels and had been renovated with quality finishes. The staff I encounted were all professional in appearance, friendly and capable. The parking garage, surround exterior grounds, lobby, halls and my room were all spotless. One of the elevators was out of order but it was a non-issue, the other elevator worked great and I never had to wait long for it. I had a short and quiet stay and would recommend to friends as a solid option when in town.

Good hotel parking is a pain because they only have a garage and if you have a full-size vehicle it is very very tight!

The front desk staff is about as helpful as asking a leper for skin care advise. Rude, non helpful, lackadaisical in their duties and never at the front desk.

Best Western doesn’t honor its point system of you book through Expedia or any other third party, so rather than see it as “thank you patron for giving us business in an economically down turned economy” they took the approach of “you didn’t give us enough of your money so we are going to F you just a little bit to let you know that we really don’t care about you”.

Nicest Beat Western I’ve ever stayed at. Tacoma in general can be sketchy, and I’ve stayed at some decent hotels but the area was too sketchy. Would definitely stay again!

We chose this pitucular hotel because of location to the Tacoma Dome and price. The room was clean and very basic and met our needs to sleep and attend an event at the Dome (we walked to the Dome across the parking lot). The breakfast was your typical buffet, it was OK. There is no other food except a vending machine offered. The area is kind of sketchy and I advise caution if you venture out on foot. They do offer free parking in a secured garage. I knocked off a star for putting us into a room with a queen bed when I reserved a king, we didn't complain because we didn't care to move and the bed was comfortable. To sum up, great place to attend Tacoma Dome events.

Upon checking in we were told that the AC was not working but we would be able to open the window and could have a fan for the room. We had already paid for our room so we continued with the booking. We get up to our room and the window are screwed shut. We call and maintained comes and opens it for us to quickly realize that we are right next to a train which is unbearably loud. It was too hot in the room even with the fan and window open for us. Staff was really nice and never showed frustration with helping us, but it really affected our sleep not to have working air. Staff allowed us to move rooms away from the train which helped a bit, but overall I would not stay again.

This place is in a little bit of a sketchy area, but the garage is severe because it has a key card entry and covered underground. Staff was okay, the young lady working when I checked in was a little aloof but fine. The biggest issue was the AC was broken all night so she said they’ll let us know when fixed which of course they didn’t and it was hot all night but I couldn’t do anything since I had nowhere else to go last minute. The window had to be open all night which had invited all bugs and whatever else into the room since so I had bug bites or something on my back. I will definitely not come back here and I will not recommend this to anyone. It was a terrible experience unfortunately and also the elevator was horrendous. It stops at every level even if nobody is waiting on that level. There should be 2 elevators but one of them was completely out of commission.

And advised that we should not check in because there was no estimated time for the fix and the building was heating up substantially. The bad: The air conditioning at the hotel was not working. I stuck it out a few nights but the last night it got way too stuffy. I was warned in advance and thought it would just be easier to stick it out. The good: the location is less than desirable (sketchy after dark) but there is link transit just a couple blocks away that took me to the convention center for $4 a day. The staff was great and the hotel is nice and clean. I wish the lounge would have been open since there is really nothing nearby but I guess given the AC outage the hotel was deserted so the lounge was closed.
I doubt I will get a refund for the AC outage but that is the danger of paying hotel.com up front
