It was a warm day when we arrived and the AC did not work in our assigned room. The front desk clerk kept ignoring our complaints and told us that the technician said the AC system was \"working fine\". But the tecnician never even came to our room. After we complained again, we were moved to another room. The AC did work in the second room, but not as well as a good AC system should. There was a kettle in the room along with a supply of coffee and tea, which is nice to have. However, the only cups provided were flimsy paper cups that were too hot to hold when they contained hot liquid. Ceramic cups, or even sturdy paper cups would be an improvement. The bed was comfortable and there was a choice of pillows. All of the other staff, except the one mentioned previously, were very cordial and very helpful.

O quarto é confortável e o hotel muito bem localizado, perto da Gare e dos principais pontos turísticos da cidade. Apesar de não ter influenciado no conforto, a decoração do quarto está um pouco desgastada, não muito condizente com o padrão Mercure.
Importante: o quarto não possuía geladeira e nem cofre, o que sentimos falta.

Really disappointed with this hotel. More of a two stars rather than a four. Room was impersonal no toiletries. Breakfast room shabby and no staff at all. Location is ok and bed was good. Definitely overpriced and definitely not a four star. Wouldn't stay here again

Location is right downtown. Street car and access to sights is easy. Parking is not easy. We parked about .5 mile away and had to walk. They have a couple of spots under the hotel for super small cars at 16€ per day. Parking after 7p and on Sunday is free. Rooms on front of hotel can be noisy if you are a light sleeper. We weren’t bothered. Rooms are basic, comfortable and clean.

Angers for a Quick Business Trip.

The hotel is perfectly situated for a business trip to Angers. Close to the historic center and the train station. The room is perfect for a few nights, clean and comfortable. The breakfast is generous. The front desk staff is very welcoming and accommodating to the needs of the group I was traveling with. We will book again next year.

Tired hotel but excellent staff

I usually enjoy staying at Mercure hotels,and I've stayed here before without any issues. This time, however, the hotel looked and felt a bit tired, and in need of renovation. My bedroom was far too hot to sleep in, and so I had to keep the window open all night (so the noise from the street was disturbing).
I must stress that the staff were EXTREMELY helpful, friendly and professional - as always.

Friendly and efficient hotel

We appreciated SO MUCH that the front desk was ACTUALLY MANNED until long after midnight during a weekend holiday period in a small non-touristy city. We would have otherwise had to sleep in our car that night as EVERY other hotel in Angers that weekend was either FULL, closed for the national holiday, or plain not answering the phone! We further appreciated that the reception was friendly and allowed us a late departure (in light of the fact that we didn't check in until about 2AM). A business type hotel, so not the most beautiful or charming property, but a solid clean & efficient place on a commercial street near many services. 5-10 minute walk to Angers cathedral.

Great for family stay

The only hotel we have been to that provides connecting rooms for families - really excellent for a good night's sleep on comfy beds. Clean, quiet. Last year when we stayed we did get free breakfast for the children and not this year, so that was more expensive than expected. Lovely gifts for children on arrival. Great location. If we travel through Frnce again next year would stay again.

This is a nice hotel. It is clean and comfortable. The staff were polite and professional. The breakfast was good. I do not recommend the attached restaurant. This Mercure hotel is within convenient walking distance from the train station and a vibrant, upscale, shopping area.

Pretty Good, but No Car Park

We stayed two nights (Sat - Mon), on a very good rate for bed and breakfast. The room was comfortable and of a good size, although getting ready for redecoration. The aircon was turned off in October, so the room was hot until we opened the window (ok as we were at the back, but would have been noisy in the rooms at the front of the hotel). The breakfast was also of good quality and plentiful.
The hotel is only five minutes walk from the historic centre, and with a tram stop outside the hotel if needed, so it's a good base for tourists.
We booked through hotels.com, and my gripe is with them, because their website stated that the hotel had a private car park (the hotel's own website states, correctly, that parking is in a public car park). We have quite an expensive car, so a secure car park was a key consideration when booking, and we were very concerned that we had to leave our car in an underground public car park about 300m from the hotel. Out parking cost EUR 25 two days in this car park, when hotels.com had said it would cost EUR 14 in the Mercure's own car park. The hotel was apologetic, but said the misrepresentation wasn't their fault.

My review is mixed. First I was given a terrible room. Very small. Not even a single star has that kind of room.
The first night we stayed in this terrible room. They should get rid of the room totally and I give the staff person who assigned this room the lowest rating.
The 2nd and 3rd nights were good. Antonia listened to my complaint, and agreed to what I say, and assigned a nice room for the 2nd and 3rd nights. She simply gets the highest rating.

Amazing staff

Great location, excellent restaurant attached, light rail stops in front of hotel. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and spoke fluent English. I've never seen staff that work has hard and move as fast as the gals at the front desk, and they also help out with breakfast (which was also very good). The closest thing to a down wide might be parking, there's only room for about 10 cars in the underground garage.

City location

This is a nice hotel in the city centre, but I'm not sure it deserves its 4-star rating as the facilities seemd quite limted. Access is also a problem as the street outside has been traffic-calmed and a tramway occupies most of the road space, making it impossible to park whilst checking in. We found a space around the corner but could not stay there as we were told all the streets in the area would be closed for a marathon on the following morning, so we would not be able to get out of the hotel car park. We were told to park in a public underground car park about 500 metres away. The price of this turned out to be quite reasonable. The hotel itself was well maintained and the room was clean, but the bed was rather small. We enjoyed breakfast on the Sunday morning, everything was of the hifghest quality and very fresh.

Nice Hotel in the City Center

Nice hotel, great price, large room and comfortable, Great Service from the staff!!! Tram stop right in front of the hotel and only a 10 minute walk from the main train station (we trained in from Paris). The only complaint was there was not really a shower door, just a piece of glass that covers half the bath so no matter what water gets on the bathroom floor.

Hotel is very nice, but the location on a busy street with no shoulder makes check-in a bit difficult if you come by car. Had to find street parking to check in, and then navigate the maze of one-ways after check-in to get back to the parking garage (not attached to the hotel). Sat Nav saved us. Parking is 7 Euros so not unreasonable. The garage is small, maybe 9 or 10 spots, but it didn’t actually fill up the night we stayed. The room itself was the nicest we stayed in on our entire 2wk trip. Modern, clean and decent sized with a big, comfortable bed and free Wifi. Location was good in relation to the Chateaux and Cathedral. And the staff was awesome. Helped with every request, including getting us ice for our drinks, directions to a grocery, and a couple short French lessons. Overall I would recommend to others, but would advise that, if coming by car, to get directions to the parking garage before you arrive.

I am studying in Angers, but I had my mom stay here while she visited me for a week. The staff was very nice, and the restaurant was delicious. It's also super easy access to the train station if you want to go to Paris, Nantes, or any smaller areas.

Style and Comfort in Angers

We stayed only one night in the Mercure but were sorry that this was the case! The room was absolutely beautiful - wide screen TV, the most comfortable king size bed I have ever slept in, tea and coffee making facilities, trouser press, brilliant power shower that was so easy to use, pristine bathroom. We had everything we needed.

Check-in was efficient and very friendly and we were wished a good evening whenever we passed reception. Someone was there 24 hours a day if you needed anything and they were more than happy to give us any information on the surrounding area.

I speak French but they offered to do the check-in in English and nothing was a problem.

We didn't eat in the restaurant but it was nicely busy at 10pm, suggesting a good quality establishment!

I would definitely recommend this hotel and plan to stay there or at another Mercure on my next trip to France.

Excellent hotel. Great location for the town centre, shopping and restaurants. Ideal stop when traveling through France.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Parking was offered to the rear of the building at no extra charge. It was rather hairy to get in an out as the ceiling height and width of the entrance was very low / narrow. Not helped as we were driving a 4x4 vehicle.
We did not have breakfast in the hotel.
Very modern and contemporary rooms and excellently soundproofed. We booked a priviledge room which is always worth paying the extra for to get a slightly larger than compact room at Mercure Hotels.
A good experience.

12 minutes from train station. Great shopping too!

This hotel was great in every respect. It is on a major street in walking distance from the train station. A tram system will open in June 2011 that will go from train station to hotel. The staff was great. The room was very nice. There are restaurants and great shopping within easy walking distance. Be sure to see the Chateau Angers and the Tapestry while you are in town.

I advise locating the hotel and any other place you want to go on Google Maps before you arrive. Street signage is lacking. I visited three countries and this is the only place I had to ask directions.

Angers is a great city to visit and I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Best hotel stay in our entire holiday

For our 2-week holiday, we stayed in 5 hotels - this was the best hotel in terms of cleanliness, size, price and it was my daughter's favorite hotel. In particular, I would mention the duvets on the bed, the big bathroom with bathtub and this really neat expresso machine in the room.

The staff was especially nice to us because we booked for the wrong night Aug13 instead of Aug14 - hotels.com had already deducted our night's stay the week before. When I nicely talked to the receptionist after discussing with the manager, they agreed to use the pre-deducted amount from Aug13 towards our stay at the same rate.

O hotel é bem localizado, você consegue conhecer os principais pontos turísticos a pé. Além disso, o tram passa bem em frente ao hotel. O restaurante também é bom. O quarto é claro e bem iluminado.
O principal ponto negativo é não ter frigobar, confesso que quando eu fiz a reserva não observei isso. Para o padrão de hotel e preço da diária, esperava ter.

Hôtel pas du tout au niveau d’un 4 étoiles.

Expérience désastreuse : problèmes multiples de cartes d’accès. A la fin on m’a fourni un passé partout de la gouvernante car sinon impossible de rentrer dans ma chambre. On m’a fait changé de chambre 2 fois car la Clim ne fonctionnait pas, la chambre devenait un sauna à la place. J’ai changé de chambre à 3:30 du matin. Le signal de la télé bug.
C’est un détail mais le buffet du petit déjeuner pourrait proposer un toasteur.
Cet hôtel n’est pas du tout à la hauteur d’un 4 étoiles.

Mercure situé en plein centre-ville et à côté de la gare et de la place du ralliement

Un hôtel qui est un peu vieillot avec une belle moquette digne des seventies dans la salle du petit-déjeuner..

mais un 4etoiles sans room service sans restaurant même pas annoncé lors de la réservation n’est pas digne d’un 4 étoiles ... bien dommage

Buen lugar, céntrico, pero con obras en proceso.

Buen lugar, muy céntrico y con comodidades. El problema es que están en obras, incluso en los pasillos del hotel y entonces había mucho ruido. Era incómodo salir de la habitación y tener que pasar por encima de los trabajadores y los materiales de construcción

Bon hotel bien placé mais manque services

Hotel propre, bonne literie, pas loin du centre ville, bon pour une déplacement pro.
Les gros + : le personnel gentil et souriant, le petit dej pas mauvais et varié, bien placé
Les gros - : manque criant de service de spa/ salle de sport/ business center, les toilettes (mauvaise ergonomie des toilettes et même pas de brosse pour nettoyer...)
