Check in was very slow. The door card was not working sometimes. The toilet is the smallest. The bed was okay. The ac air was not working.
I give it three stars because the room was quiet and clean.

We had booked a deluxe room. It wasnt deluxe. It was average and It was tired, the bathroom tile grout was mouldy and black. The coffee pods did not fit the coffee machine, we had paper cups not mugs or glasses. We could hear the people upstairs or to the side of us having sex, not great internal soundproofing. Aircon not working so we had to open the secondary glazing which meant noise from the street. Breakfast was good and the staff helpful but overall not value for money.

The architectural details in the building are lovely. It was positioned well for walking to the heart of the city.
We didn't like our room. We had stairs up to the bathroom , the view out into the yard was tatty, and we only had one stirring stick for our teas and coffees.

It’s clear the building is very old. They have an issue with the AC system meaning not all rooms have cool air. They try and remedy this with a fan but in France in the summer it’s just not good. Credit to the nice staff who tried to help but there’s nothing they can do. I’d avoid and stay somewhere more capable of having guests

Breakfast was very poor. Even at 9am, staff were unable to clear tables fast enough or to restock the buffet. We had to wait 40 minutes for more bread, and then it arrived frozen! Breakfast was hyped in the room information but was shocking.

I'm very sad to write this review and have reached out to the property twice for a reply and rectification of my recent stay without a reply.

While the hotel, staff and room are perfectly lovely. I arrived and was left 2 Shampoo bottles (one of which had already been clearly opened) and no Conditioner. The fire alarm went off and was a false alarm, however my sleep after a long journey from Australia (30 Hours) was very disrupted. The following night I had no hot water to have a shower, the next morning, still not rectified and after a restless night sleep was offered to shower in another uncleaned room just down the hall, traipsing there in my dressing gown with all of my toiletries, however this room thankfully had Conditioner. The hot water had apparently been fixed however that evening after a cold and wet day, I was greeted to no towels in my room and tepid water. When I requested some towels, the receptionist brought me a very old and stained bath mat which was quite disgusting. Requesting to speak with a manager this was denied as to none being on site and they wouldn't be on site for the remainder of my stay another 2 days over the weekend. I requested another room and was told I should move Hotels. Now as the basic necessities of a hotel such as hot water weren't available to me for 2 days of my 4 day stay and no manager was on hand or would contact me, this was most upsetting. I had no desire to change hotels for my final night and no compensation was offered.

When we arrived there was no one at reception. Called reception no answer. After 5 minutes member of staff appeared. As gold member should have had a free drink but the hotel has no bar or restaurant! How is this a 4 star hotel? No one at the hotel spoke English at all. Shower was weak and Luke warm and there was a lot of white noise in the room making it difficult to sleep. Overall not a great experience.

The property was pretty but it did not have parking at all. When I was ther I asked the recepcionist about the parking, I was prepared to pay for it, but she told me that they only have 10 spaces for parking an they where busy. I dont undertand why in the Epedia Page they put thay they have parking an they did not. I think Expedia have to check the properties before they put them in the Page. It is not valid for the customers

Would love to stay again - but after the upgrade

Nice hotel, took ages and multiple attempts to get through on the phone. Underground car park in side street nearby difficult to access but very secure and a comfort when you have a car full of stuff. Room v comfy and missing tea bags and coffee. Renovations meant much of the hotel was dust sheeted but the breakfast room was really interesting old style. Buffet breakfast was fine but, in truth, nothing special. Staff v friendly but quite thin on the ground leaving Reception vacant for quite long periods. Happy to stay again but the 4 star rating must be in anticipation or based on the aged 19th C decor.

Great hotel in a superb location

Our room was quite small, but very clean and warm and chic, with an extremely comfortable bed. It was triple glazed with great sound-proofing! The lift is old and quirky - in keeping with an old building, but worked perfectly. We saw several receptionists during our stay, and everyone was helpful and courteous. We ate in the restaurant for one night and the food was good and well presented. The location is absolutely perfect for shopping, sightseeing or just taking in the atmosphere of this beautiful city. Parking is in a secure, underground car park just around the corner from the hotel. It is reasonably priced and we felt our car and contents were safe there. We would recommend this hotel - our Room 243 had a fabulous view over the square, fountain and park.

Worst hotel I‘ve ever stayed in!

This must be the worst hotel I‘ve ever stayed in. We reserved two rooms for two nights. We checked in and all looked fine- not the most nice hotel but fine. At the first night we stayed we found BED BUGS in one of the rooms in the middle of the night. The receptionist offered a big room in exchange, we took it only to find bugs in the second room as well the same night. As we are family, and there were no other rooms in the hotel, the reception lady offered to help us move to the hotel across the street and said she will arrange refund for our rooms in the morning. When the morning came we talked to ‘hotels’ where we placed our order to receive the refund but they were told by Best Western that they will not refund us. We tried going back to the reception, and were told that there was no bed bugs found in the room only mosquitos (although we showed pictures). So if you’re thinking about staying here- please think again.

A co worker of hers even gave us a cooler for our wine and cups to bring to our room. Would highly recommend this hotel because the staff was wonderful!

The most beautiful art deco hotel, comfortable beds, nice room.Very good city centre location but room was quiet.
Slight problem with the parking garage being in a separate building, but the staff on reception are extremely helpful with luggage. They were extremely helpful with everything actually.

Well located, and whilst on a busy street in room 234 we had no noise issues. Efficient a/c system in our room which was an upgrade from the standard queen room. Car parking is up a side street which brings you around the back of the building and you need a code to access so call in advance as parking outside the building to pop in and get directions/the code is not an option. Nice breakfast. Very friendly staff

The hotel was very well located in the city centre and not too far away from the railway station. The staff were all very helpful and polite, including the cleaners. It was very clean and the bedroom facilities were very good.

The breakfast was good, with a lot of choices and the staff there were always on hand to look after you.

The room was extremely small, we booked a double room with two twins and that was basically all the room could fit. It was very clean and comfortable with a good bathroom.

When we arrived we were not given a lot of details about the area. We tried to go to the restaurant attached to the hotel but were turned away even though the restaurant was far from full because we had not made a reservation. It would have been nice for the front desk to ask if we needed reservations or to mention that Mondays are very hard to find restaurants. We did find a place to eat down the street but overall there was no great service provided by the hotel. Breakfast was completely adequate however expensive for what you received. There was no parking but there is a large lot that was extremely inexpensive about two blocks away. It was a good location and near the older part of the city and the chateau.

Old charm and helpful staff.

Upon entering the lobby, you are presented with beautiful arches and almost art-deco style. The hotel staff were very helpful with guiding my vehicle into their underground parking (directions given) and were very pleasant upon check-in. The hotel has an old classic-charm about it is like stepping back in time into the various rooms of the building. The beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed in our room (kettle for tea, water, quiet). The elevator was a unique experience being it had just enough room for two people and two bags. Fun experience.

WE HAD A GREAT ROOM, ENJOYED THE HOTEL, BUT THE INTERNET WAS INFURIATING. THE HOTEL REQUIRED A PASSWORD AND AN EMAIL ADDRESS, BUT ALSO PROVIDED A CHECK MARK TO \"REMEMBER ME\". IT SEEMED TO ME IT NEVER REMEMBERED ME. OFTEN, WHILE IN THE ROOM, I WAS HAVING TO REENTER THE THREE DIGIT CODE, AND MY EMAIL, TO GET THE INTERNET ACCESS. iT WAS SO ANNOYING. iT WAS AS IF I WAS LEAVING MY ROOM TIME AND TIME AGAIN. We stayed just one night. Overall the experience was acceptable. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our main complaint was the meal we had in the bistro dining room. It was one of the worst dinners we both have ever had. We left most of it. There were several guests dining and there was just one server who was very overworked. It took what seemed like forever to get our food after already waiting a long time to even be greeted and receive the menus.

Nice, stylish hotel - centrally located

Great service - I asked for extra sheets, where to buy water - sheets were right away given to me and 2 water bottles without extra charge. At breakfast there was someone there to make sure everything was refilled, help with seating ... and there was a machine to make fresh squeezed orange juice.

No bellhop, no drop in in front of the hotel, side door condemned, my mother of 94 had to walk 3 blocks to the car with luggages in tow. Couldn't park the car in the hotel garage,...entrance too narrow, I was afraid to damage the car ( had to step out of the car to activate the door opening and by the time I got back and try to maneuver, the door closed and would have hit the hood , luckily I backed up in the neck of time. Elevator outdated and tiny. The bathroom was adequate, except for the washroom door that is almost flush with the toilet bol and is awkward to get out.
I could go on, but let's say that I stayed in 3 stars hotels with better facilities.

This is a very nice hotel; it has French charm and more space than you'll get in most hotels in France. I have stayed twice, once in July and once in December, and it has nice A/C in the summer. It's a quick walk from the train station, which makes it convenient, and although it's on the edge of downtown Angers, Angers is small enough that it is actually quite close to everything. If one has business at the University of Belle-Beille, the bus that goes to campus is just across the street. I will definitely stay again!

This is a very nice hotel that is in a good location, however the room was a little small and the toilet was a little tight against the heater in the bathroom. The hotel has parking but is in an underground carpark that is up the road and requires a code access. The entrance is very tight as well as two automatic doors to negotiate and some tight corners but seems very secure. Only issue is no direct access to the hotel from the car park. Breakfast was good if a little pricy but plenty of choice and a good selection. We also used the restaurant on site for an evening meal and this was excellent with good service and food with a few surprises like little taster dishes in between courses. Overall location is good however steps at front entrance and then more steps from reception to the every small lift make it difficult if you have any mobility issues or a lot of luggage.

Could be Better!

This is a very good hotel that could demonstrate better customer service! The hotel is located on a busy street, and cars cannot park in front to off-load luggage. The underground parking was a bit of a hassle to get to, and we had to drag our luggage a considerable distance to the front of the hotel. To my disappointment, the hotel staff watched my wife and I personally carry our luggage up the front steps to reach the front desk, making two trips. No assistance was offered, and not a word was mentioned by the desk receptionist. Huhh? The restaurant served excellent food, and the room was clean and comfortable - what I would expect for a 4-star hotel.

Disappointing overall

I'm not sure how this hotel garnered four stars. First, there are many stairs from the street to the lobby and no one to assist with bags. You just haul them up the stairs to the - I have to say, wonderful front desk person. Then, while there is a nice, tiny lift, there (at least on the floor we stayed on) were an additional two sets of stairs to haul bags up before we reached our room. The room was beautiful. The bed was the most uncomfortable, rock hard mattress I ever tired to sleep on. The bathtub/shower combination was super slippery and high. I felt like I was risking my life each time I climbed in and out of it. There was no way to shut the curtains/shutters so the light from the nearby apartments and other rooms, left on all night streamed into our room. Finally, the first night we treated ourselves to a \"nice\" dinner in hotel's restaurant. It was terrible, really, awful.

The front desk staff was nothing but nice and as helpful as possible. The physical attributes of this property outside of those strictly decorative were terrible. The worst hotel bed I've ever encountered. A truly unsafe bathroom situation. Difficult (for some guests, I'm sure impossible) situation getting your luggage to your room. Expensive and terrible food.

The hotel is beautiful. It looks more like a Loire valley castle. The location allows to walk to the historical center, therefore the valet parking (15 euros per night) is OK.
Everything else was very good.I would go back.
