Although the reviews were bad, it wasn’t the worst. Definitely worth the price. The park a couple blocks away was so beautiful, the fish, ducks and ability to row a boat on the water was so nice. The hotel it’s is a bit strange, the staff are not very friendly, they we’re constantly calling my room for different reasons, the rooms very humid, you CANT flush your toilet tissue (which is nasty) who wants to walk into the rest and see pooped toilet paper, they have you sign a waiver for cost of blankets if you spill something on them, and they will charge you for any toiletries if you forget them but give them to locals for free. The breakfast was worth the price, but was WAY too early! Who wants to wake up at 6-9:00 on vacation and the type of food was blah! A review I read was correct they don’t offer separate utensils for the butter or jam so everyone is touching it. On a plus there are no roaches and a 17 minute walk to a BIG night market with great food. If on a budget this is a good deal but nothing to write home about.

When i check in at night the staffs are friendly and helpful. He give me a time table for the bus schedules to sun moon lake. In the morning when i check out the day staff didn't even had eye contact with me. I asked for one more bus time table. She told me we don't have. I told her that i got one yesterday. She keep repeating we don't have but not even look for it. Customer service is important so people want to return.

Room is new, wooden floor, big enough to fit 2 big luggages. Shower water pressure and temperature is good, bed and pillow super comfy, duvet thick and warm. Aircon is cold, room is quiet, allows secure luggage storage with tag pre and post check out, nice local breakfast shop and a taiyang bing shop just downstairs. Walkable to taichung TRA in 5-8min. If u take Ubus from taipei airport, it just takes 2 hours to reach and 8-10min walk from drop off to hotel (ask bus counter for exact drop off stop). Most importantly, there’s a Kuo Kuang bus terminal 1min walk from hotel where u can take the bus to taipei (cheaper and more convenient than HSR), and also a bus shop just next to hotel to take bus to Feng Chia. For this price and location in taichung, Palmer is the best u can find!

The triple room was big but basic. The aircon was weak so on our stay which was 35 degrees outside it was unbearable. The laundry room charged for detergent, washing and drying and closes promptly at 9pm - very inconvenient for people on holiday.

Great hotel for the price!

We had to store our luggage near the door in the rather small lobby, but that and the room were very clean. We stayed in the nicely decorated and very spacious family room with 3 double beds. The breakfast was good, but the food was not kept hot. The hotel very kindly contacted us regarding a few items we left behind on purpose and a few that we may have overlooked.

Affordable, convenient but not comfortable

Hotel is conveniently located close to the bus and train station, but in the older, run-down corner. My room was clean, but it was small and smelled very strongly of chemicals coming out of the drains in the bathroom. The bed was not comfortable, and the sound-proofing was not good. Housekeepers were friendly but can be a little noisy. I supposed I got what I paid for, but I'll probably not stay here again next time.

The hotel is near taichung station, not the high speed rail station. You will need to catch a local train to get to HSR station. There is not much to do nearby. But close to Gancheng bus stop so u can catch the local buses to department stores, night markets etc.
The bathroom is quite small.
The breakfast is quite simple.

Everything was excellent but only the beds are not clean enough. My 2 kids got red rash all over their legs after sleeping on one beds. I had to rush over to the pharmacy to buy medicines for the rash & felt itchy. stilll got the rash but not itchy now.

5 to 10 mins walk to Taichung Train station, near to the famous Miyahara Ice Cream, only 5 mins bus ride to 一中街.
Breakfast is the usual Taiwanese style porridge.

The hotel is slightly away from the main shopping area but next to the main train and the station. The main shopping area are within 5 to 10 minutes walk. The historical park is nearby too and worth a walk there. There were 15 of us staying and we booked 2 6 bedded family rooms and triple rooms. The triple room has a huge bathroom. Shame that the 6 bedded room has a normal size bathroom. Otherwise, the rooms were comfortable and adequate for our family.

Unbeatable downtown location

Unbeatable downtown location near TRA Taichung Station and all forms of public transport (except high speed trains and airplanes) - city buses, intercity buses, Taiwan Tourist Shuttles, etc. Modern hotel with spotless and comfortable rooms. We were lucky enough to have a rather spacious room with great view. Very nice buffet breakfast. Downside: WiFi was disastrous during my stay, as far as my computer was concerned.

just the location is good,other than that is worst.
the wifi is unable to connect in the room,intercom 3times to lobby,they request us to go down lobby to check our phone type,there is no wifi poblem when we were in lobby,the female staff wear black shirt told us maybe due to most the guests stay inside their room,so we unable to attach the wifi,i realy feel nonsense with the answer,isnt meaning the late coming guest canot use the wifi,then i ask them isnt we need wait others guest not using the wifi or we need to surfing at lobby area only.
then only they said will check the modem and restart it
finally we able to attach the wifi,but the line will disconnected on and off and very slow.
we stay there for 3night,only the first day they provide us 2 free bottle water,they no send us any bottle water for other days(or maybe there have such policy in taiwan,the free bottle is for 1st day only)
the aircon is the worst,we turn to 16celcius till no feel any cool wind,wake up with sweating
if u want have sauna room,u are advice to book this hotel,if not..please choose others hotel

We are happy staying in this hotel, just nice for a couple. Bath room is spacious, room is clean, tv is big! Location is super strategic and very convenient, it is around Gan Chen Zhan area. the reason i stayed here is super convenient to take Nantou bus to sun moon lake, and also very near to Taichung train station to travel to high speed train station. It is also a walkable distance to Miyahara Ice Cream. Best thing in Taichung is the FREE bus ride, within 10km, bus ride is FREE! ;)

I booked a triple room on the day but the staff upgraded to 6 persons room to me, so 3 of us can sleep a queen bed comfortably. Driving distance from Feng Jia market around 20 min, but right out of hotel is the bus terminal to other estate which is convenient for those who want to go Ching Jing or other state. They have a basement car park with limited slot. I returned from Feng Jia night market around 11pm, the basement car park was full but I entitled a free parking at the nearby parking with 5 min walking distance from the hotel. Overall a good experience.

Super convenient central location, near all forms of public transportation. Reasonably spacious and quite comfortable room, with a good view for some rooms. Great buffet breakfast. Quick check-in and check-out. The only problem is lack of soundproofing, so one has to pray people staying in nearby rooms are quiet.

The location is extremely convenient -- right outside of Taichung's train station, near many bus lines and Taiwan toursit bus (台灣好行) lines (for going to Sun Moon Lake, Xitou, and Alishan). The hotel itself is newly decorated, the design is modern and tasteful. The room is a bit small, and not sound-proofed for the interior (for example noise of people in neighboring rooms using the shower could be heard too easily), but very comfortable. My room had a very nice view of the city. The buffet breakfast in the bright 2nd floor cafe is lovely. There is a gym for working out. The whole experience was very pleasant.

The hotel is well-located in the old center of Taichung, just a few minutes walk to central station and intercity bus terminal. Numerous bus lines just In front of the hotel, including city buses and Taiwan shuttle buses (台灣好行) for Sun Moon Lake or Xitou. Nearby, Taichung Park is a must-see spot in town.

Breakfast was provided daily and price was reasonable for a hotel.
Room was spacious enough to have 3 luggages flat on the ground, and enough to walk around comfortably.
Toilet was clean and toiletries were provided. Mini fridge was available and mineral water was free.

Hotel location is good as it is near to train station and bus station. However the hotel room seriously need some touch up as I found the furniture quite old. The toilet and shower though separated by a \"half glass\" screen, the whole toilet still get wet after shower. If u want your room to be cleaned, u need to tell the hotel reception.They don't give the option for u to hang the sign board on your room door whether to clean or not to clean the room.

This hotel is definitely good value for money. Situated at a convenient location within walking distance to railway and bus stations, shopping districts (eg. Yizhong night market). Incredibly average hotel, could have been better

Stay here was not the greatest. Pros: Location is good, wifi was good, bed was comfortable.

Cons: Room is not in great condition to begin with, it probably could have been cleaned better, there is A LOT of wear on the walls and floors. I also noticed a giant hole in the wall that an awkwardly and poorly placed picture did not conceal. The breakfast was okay but it was an absolute zoo. I don't think I've ever been in such a mad house at breakfast buffet before. You hear a bit of noise from the hallway. Away from elevator is probably better.

Probably wouldn't stay again unless I was on a strict budget. But for one who is on a strict budget and doesn't care about a place with a lot of milage on it, this is good choice.
