Ideal for one nights stay, I personally couldn’t do anymore. Floor boards everywhere were squeaky so it meant you could hear everyone passing outside your room. Rooms were rather cramped.

The hotel was clean and the staff were super nice. The room was on what seemed to be a 3rd floor which we had to go up these tiny little stairs with luggage. That was hard. Then the bathroom had no flannels/ face cloths to wash with. We had to leave the hot water running in the bathroom for about 20 minutes before it was hot enough to wash with. Then we booked 2 nights but only needed 1 as our plans changed and even though they had not charged me yet and I cancelled a week before I got their they would not credit me for the 2nd night. I also paid for a full English breakfast and when we got to the hotel we were told that they don’t do that until 10am and only continental was available early morning and again would not refund me the extra fee for breakfast. Then we asked about getting dinner and was told as it was a holiday weekend they closed the restaurant leaving us no option but to go out to find food. NONE of this was disclosed up front when ordering which is why I should have received a credit back.

I stayed 2nights with my daughter ,at the best western Claydon hotel,, spotlessly clean, all staff where very nice and welcoming , restaurant was nice & welcoming ,and the food here is excellent .you have a good option choice of 1coarse, 2 course or 3 course meals . The area is very good, nice quiet village, not far from Ipswich and Stowmarket ,loved our stay at this hotel and would definitely recommend,

Avoid room 203 if you want to sleep

Arrived late so needed a decent sleep after a long drive . Room 203 faces the main busy road so from 4am its impossible to sleep due to traffic noise . Poor double glazing and made worse by a window that didnt close properly. No hairdryer and room overpriced in my opion . Decent breakfast

Great hotel, poor mattresses.

The hotel was easily accessible, clean and friendly. We received a warm welcome and our needs were met as we needed a ground floor room. Unfortunately, the bed was very uncomfortable, but the manager was very obliging and swapped our room, unfortunately the second room was just as uncomfortable. The only problem with this hotel is that they need to invest in some new mattresses. Everything else is wonderful.

Couldn’t fault the staff they were brilliant but ……….
Our room smelt like scampi and chips most of the night, must of been near the kitchen not sure
The floorboards above us were creaking all night with people walking around upstairs so difficult to sleep.
The cooked breakfast in the morning was disappointing as very basic and no option for what type of egg you could have as the only available option was scrambled

Avoid....terrible hotel.

This hotel is very overpriced, room/bathroom, bed all appalling. Parking was £10 additional to the overpriced room to park in a muddy area at the back of this place. The bathroom was above the kitchen with a very loud extractor fan and seemingly extracted all of the cooking waste into the shower above, choking fumes. The bed was very uncomfortable. The traffic noise from outside was loud. The noise from othet residents and slamming doors was excessive at all hours of the night.
I'd not recommend this hotel.

A let down for a Best Western.

I use Best Western quite a bit whilst working, but this was a bit of a let down.The biggest shock was the £10 parking charge, hidden away in the terms and conditions that no one every checks. I didn't pay it, I parked elsewhere. No restaurant service on a Sunday! In general not brilliant. Room was cold, especially the bathroom with a totally antiquated electric heater on the wall! Room hadn't been heated prior to my arrival so was really cold.

Clean, quiet, friendly

The hotel is an AA 3 star hotel, and it provided that level of service in the best way that it could. Although nothing was fancy, everything was perfectly clean and working. The room was not particularly large and the bathroom was quite basic, but it was all big enough and very clean.

The hotel was very quiet; we did not hear the other guests. The staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly.

A dated hotel in need of upgrading

This hotel must have been built by Wimpeys, the rooms are small our suite being smaller than a standard premier Inn room. The Walls are plasterboard and you can hear people walking down the corridor outside. There is no soundproofing so you can hear the TV in other rooms and people talking. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable and creaked all night long with every slight movement. On the good side the room and bathroom was clean and functional but the door hinges needed oiling as they squeaked. The on site parking was useful. The staff were helpful and friendly. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel at £40 each as that was excessively expensive. The whole place need renovating and upgrading.

Hotel is a little dated now but still proveds everything the business traveller needs - including really good (gentle and quiet) air-conditioning; which was an absolute God-send on the hottest night of the year! Although the room was quite small, it meant it was easier to keep cool!
Had one evening meal which was delicious and plentiful, again, in a lovely air-conditioned restaurant.

An unexpected delight!!

I'm writing this from my comfy bedroom in this pleasant hotel. Working for a humanitarian agency of the UN, I live in Switzerland - the recognised capital of the hospitality industry - and spend around 5 months of the year away from home, so I have developed a firm idea of what I expect from my hotel. This one is a small independent hotel in a dormitory village of Ipswich. Not the kind of place I'd usually pick but a special event this weekend meant hotels for miles around were fully booked so I was desperate. Guess what? My prejudices were swiftly swept away. It is true breakfast options are limited, and dinner must be ordered by 7.45pm(!!), but I arrived to a warm, unhurried welcome from a busy, lone receptionist and subsequently the night porter has really gone the second mile for me despite having a full bar to attend to at 1.00am. His smiling \"can do\" attitude, and obvious pleasure in working with people are remarkable. Both of these team members are great ambassadors for the hotel. Add to the mix an immaculate room and bathroom, comfortable air conditioning and you have the ingredients for a happy stay in quality surroundings! Slight niggles? The lack of power points, especially near the bed for charging the phone, and the rather niggardly number of towels - even for a solo traveller. All in all though, this one gets a definite thumbs up from me!!

Not impressed. Curtains not fixed properly, mould on bottom of net curtains. Half of toilet flush did not work. Toilet seat too small for toilet. Only window looked onto brick wall. Small awkward shaped room, because added bathroom took up most of it. Would not use again.

Nice Best Western handy location in Suffolk.

Handy location with a short drive from junction 52 of the A14 near Ipswich. A short drive to Rendlesham forest for ancient woodland walks, Sutton Hoo, Bentwaters Cold War Museum, Woodford or Orford Ness.
The hotel staff were fantastic and helpful, my partner is a light sleeper and she asked if we could move to a quieter room, and the staff obliged with no question.
The breakfast is a continental affair, so no fry ups. The staff again were enthusiastic and helpful.
All in all for the value a nice 3 star hotel and we would stay again.

The 'cooked breakfast' really let the hotel down

The best thing was the staff who were all friendly and professional. My room was on the ground floor facing the main road. So it did not feel safe to sleep with the window open. Even on a Sunday morning with the window closed the traffic noise was annoying. The worst thing was the cooked breakfast which was precooked, reheated and inedible. It is incomprehensible why there is no breakfast chef for either cooked to order breakfasts or a hot buffet.

The hotel is clean and the staff are fabulous, very welcoming and helpful. Limited breakfast choices during the COVID period but the reasons are understood.
While there is air con it isn’t efficient enough to stand up again the warmth of July temperatures in the UK, so we didn’t sleep too well.
Nice enough place and I’d stay again, but does need a bit of an update.

The room I was given was on the main road, the furniture was old and hideous, the bed was missing 4 knobs on the frame and squeaked when one moved so I had to wear earplugs, the mattress and pillows looked insanitary, the top of the bedside light was loose and a health hazard. The staff were very nice, and my dinner one night was also very acceptable although breakfast was served in a foil tray and had been heated up in the oven because of coid. However, the poached egg was hard and the bacon had scum on it. Very unappetising.
