All Good, very reasonable prices, I recommend customers leave luggage in car until checked in, as accommodation is on opposite side of car park, no complaints, very nice staff, and accommodation presentable, very good food and drink choices, IMPORTANT-- the room key (card) is also used to enter the accommodation block as well as your room.

On arrival at 10pm with a toddler in tow & having driven 7 hrs we were told on check in that someone else had checked in as us, I was baffled but was told by the staff member that he showed the guest the computer screen and he pointed to our booking so was given the room.i was so distressed that someone now had all my private details, the staff member then went to move guest to another room and clean the room that was meant for us, this took an hour from start to finish we then get to our room & the second bed had not been made up so staff member had to come back to do it, he was in and out the room 5 times as kept forgetting the correct sheets etc, we finally was able to get the toddler sorted at 11.35pm when he finally completed the bed making. Breakfast was dire no choice of bread, the scrambled egg was swimming in grease and the dinner (carvery) that next evening was equally as bad. The bathroom smelt the plug must have not drained as it was awful.
I wanted to love this hotel as it’s so easy for us but sadly it was riddled with issues not ideal when you are staying to attend your father’s funeral.
I did make a complaint to both hotels.com and the mermaid and was refunded just for one night strangely.

This is not a hotel. It is a box with beds in it across a car park from a pub with no walkway. Woken when you are already in bed and told you are in the \"wrong\" room is not hospitality. The box of beds has a doorway indicating it is reception and outside there is a sign pointing at it saying it is the reception, but it is not the reception. I was only able to find the reception (in the pub), because there was a bloke standing outside smoking a cigarette who told me where to go. Getting an email inviting me to check out before I have even got into bed is not \"helpful\" and \"efficient.\" It is telling me I am a piece of meat. I have asked you for a receipt for what I paid for accommodation but you will not give it to me for some reason. Where is my receipt, please?

Breakfast was at the restaurant next door which is part of Marstons. Had dinner and breakfast here. Food was okay, slightly disappointing compared to previous experiences of Marstons restaurants. We only stayed the one night as we were going to a concert in the town centre and didn't want to drive home that same night. There was plentiful free parking and it took us only a 15 minute walk to get to the town centre. The staff were very friendly and check in was easy. Our room was clean and at best I'd describe it as functional (no frills) but it suited our purpose and I'd definitely stay overnight again - the check out a11 am was a real bonus as this is an hour later than most.

I paid £20 for a late check out and originally this was only a 1 hour extension, however the lady on reception advised she could extend this to 2 hours on this occasion. It wasn’t clear when booking the late check out that it wasn’t buying much more time so that could be improved.
My room was very spacious and clean, and it had everything I needed (kettle, hairdryer, plenty of hanging space for clothes, decent air conditioning). It was on the road side of the hotel, and there was some road noise but it didn’t affect my sleep. The walls were thin and I could hear people moving around in the adjoining rooms and rooms above, but again this wasn’t extreme.
I would consider staying here again.

Not a great stay due to the pub it is linked with being closed for refurbishment. I do realise these things need doing but not to advise of this when booking is very poor customer service. I booked and after a long deive then had to drive again to find somewhere to eat unless you want a burger. I was even asked to book a cooked breakfast but actually it was a bag with two i stant porridge pots and a bag of alpen. Stayed with this group before and was good but this time extremly poor service.

Stayed for a show in Ipswich, comfy and quiet east check in. Had meal at the mermaid it's a marstons not bad. We went and had breakfast nearly a tenner for the big one and wife had mushrooms and poached egg on toast, seeded bread.
The big breakfast was not big and disappointing, eggs cooked we'll, bacon cold two tiny sausages horrible, beans luke warm black pudding tasteless. But worse was mushroom on toast, two of the smallest poached egg I have seen but was cooked well and runny put on the plate, one piece of normal bread put on other side not what was stated and one over cook small mushroom on other side. I gave her my tomato as I'm not keen and she couldn't eat it as it had a horrible taste. You can help yourself to the continental but very limited choice, cold tea coffee, couple of cerial porridge in a plastic tub you pour water in and toast. Oh and three pastires, shame really, for breakfast find a cafe or wetherspoons yes wetherspoons their breakfast is cheaper and hundred times better, that's saying something.

We had a perfectly pleasant one-night stay. Our first stay in a Marston's hotel and I would say it's on a par with Premier Inn. The service was friendly and the cooked breakfast was very good. The room was large, if a little empty. Couldn't get the wifi to give us an internet connection, which was frustrating, but not disastrous - though if we'd had kids with us, it might have been another matter!

Also the staff packed us a carvery up each as due to hot weather i could not make the walk over to the restaurant due to my mobilty issues which was really nice.
The one point i would make is only having one key card, if my partner went outside for a cigarette i ended up with no lights or Tv.

Also the staff packed us a carvery up each as due to hot weather i could not make the walk over to the restaurant due to my mobilty issues which was really nice.
The one point i would make is only having one key card, if my partner went outside for a cigarette i ended up with no lights or Tv.

Essentially an annex to a new build 'sports bar / burger joint' pub. Of its kind it was excellent, quiet and cleraly well run with attention to detail . . . of character it had none but that was irrelevant for a one night stay. The staff make it, friendly, smiling and attention to detail. Restaurant wise, the dead hand of 'chain corporate' to which Marstons has sunk was evident in only fizzy pop beer being on and tasteless, textureless corporate burgers. The staff did their best to make up for it but HQ buyers should be shot. We had breakfast elsewhere. All in all though a comfortable night.

Room was lovely, clean, good towels, lots of hot water etc. Dinner was cheap but average and breakfast whilst cheap was flaky- order not taken or not applied in the kitchen, bar area needs a deep clean, stuff run out all the time.

Absolutely loved staying here. The hotel section is self contained so it felt safe and quiet away from the bar/restaurant. Within walking distance from the town centre. The staff were all really lovely and helpful. The room was really nice and very clean too, comfy bed. Highly recommend, I will definitely be back!
