It is very well located but expensive. Keep in mind that you have to pay 25 Euros/day for parking and breakfast (if not included into your booking). The undeground parking is a bit tricky with sharp curves to take.

Stayed here before, nice hotel in a good location. The rooms are a little tired now though & could do with a refresh.
TV hardly had any channels that would work. Nothing at all in English. The shower was also very disappointing as it had a very poor hose and shower head set up which wouldn’t angle, and would shut the water off if you had the shower head too high as it pinched the hose.
The bar area is nice, & the breakfasts were quite good. I’d stay again, just felt it was a little overpriced this time based on the room.

It’s a fine hotel and not a 5 stars. The room did not have airconditioning. It was a very hot room. I had to ask for my real room which was a suite and they gave me just a regular room. Overall it’s a regular hotel. Breakfast was ok.

The rooftop would be neat but it was closed. The linens are old garbage. The non-movable twin beds are just dumb. That should be marketed as a standard room for couples. It is a double all over the world.

Whilst the staff are great and the foyer is beautiful, everywhere else, particularly the rooms, are extremely dated and in desperate need of modernisation. The luxurious sun beds in the photos are not the same either - in fact the pool terrace isn’t great either - again, needs updating - just 2 umbrellas. The breakfast was distinctly average and certainly not 5 star - you spend every day looking for staff to request that more butter or bread be put out of for the milk/water in the coffee machine to be filled up. Again - not 5 star!

Dinners - Hotel Palafox and Virgin of the Pillar

When in Zaragoza, dinner at the Palafox is a must have. It is alone reason to travel to Zaragoza. The breakfast buffet was extraordinary as well.

Well situated to see Old Town Zaragoza as well where a most important cathedral-basilica has a home. It’s called Virgin of the Pillar

If this was a 5 star hotel, it must have been 50 years ago. The decor is very old and shabby The rooms look like they haven’t been refurbished in decades. They use out dated and obscure methods of storing details. The wanted to manually save my credit card number in their computer, instead of blocking my card for a set amount. meaning i had to pay €50 with a UK card and then refund me on departure. This mean i lose about £5 just to ensure a safe method of giving a deposit. The air conditioning didn’t cool the room and when i asked, they said, “just open the window”. that’s fine until the traffic noise starts in the morning. The door to my room squeezed continuously, every time i used it. I am on a long work trip for 20+ days, but decided to move hotels at the opportunity, i won’t be back , that’s for sure

An unpleasant welcome experience

At check-in, we were assigned a room, but upon entering, we were shocked by its condition, the smell, and the dirt. It was hard to believe that such a room could exist in what is supposed to be a 5-star hotel. The room was located at the farthest end of the third floor and appeared to be in this state because it was equipped for disabled guests and had likely been unused for a long time. Initially, I was informed that no other rooms were available, but fortunately, they eventually relocated us to a much nicer room.

While the hotel shouts out its historic five star rating, which is to say the least just a bit ambitious, it is nevertheless a value-for-money “go to” option for visiting Zaragoza. Well located for walking to the old city and host of lively tapas bars nearby, the standard room was spacious, with minibar, a sitting area for two and large bathroom. It did not have any tea or coffee making facilities in the room, but the breakfast was generous. We also dined in the hotel one night and rated the food highly. We would stay at this hotel again.

Hotel Palafox is an Elegant Choice in Zaragoza

Hotel Palafox proved to be a delightful choice in central Zaragoza, and one which we would recommend highly.

Located on a short, quiet street, it is only a few minutes’ walk to busy commercial areas with numerous shops and restaurants. For example, the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, perhaps the best known tourist destination in Zaragoza, is just a pleasant 15- or 20-minute walk away. The staff are professional and accommodating, while our room was spacious and warm.

Likewise, the on-site restaurant, Aragonia, served delicious dishes in an elegant setting — we liked it so much that we ate dinner there two of our three nights in the the city. We also ate in the well appointed bar and were very happy with our experience.

In short, Hotel Palafox is an excellent choice for travelers who want to pamper themselves in Zaragoza.

This is an OLD hotel with too much of everything in the room. I would clean the room out of wood, curtains and all the ugly stuff around the room. Food is great and service is good. But hotel needs renovation.

The design of the hotel is lovely and the bed was amazingly comfortable, in a very quiet room. However there was a lot that was wrong that made my stay disappointing. The pool and deck was closed even though it was very warm outside for all the days I was there. The gym and sauna are very tacky looking with terrible wall art. The room had no tea or coffee facilities. The carpets where worn. The shower was in the bath and leaked everwhere. The one tap handle was broken. And the bath plug didn't close properly. There was also mold in the corners and in the tiles. The wallpaper in the room was coming off the walls. A very disappointing stay for a 5 star hotel. I went on to stay in a 4 star hotel and that was a much better stay with better amenities, and an open pool even though the weather was cooler.

Used to be a 5-Star hotel

The hotel may have been 5-Stars a number of years ago, but it has stayed in the 20th century and needs a lot of refurbishment. The furniture was comfortable, but very dated. The room was darkly lit (one of the lights was totally out with no one to repair it on a Sunday). The heating did not work (only cold air coming out of the vent) so we had to turn it off completely. It couldn't be repaired until Monday, the day we left.

It's an older style place that has a lot of Spanish charm. However, because it calls itself a five star hotel, you are left a little bewildered because it doesn't compare to other five star hotels. The staff is friendly and helpful. And the area is very quiet. The suite we had enough room, but was definitely old style and could use a new face. But for being in the middle of a relatively quiet city, you have to adjust your expectations.

Good location near the old town. The rooms are dated but nice enough and fairly comfortable. Front desk staff were helpful. The pool is very basic and the water was really cold. We paid extra for breakfast and it was a big mistake. The food was not good enough for what we paid. Very small hot food section and all the food that was supposed to be hot, was cold. The food was not being replinished and what was there, just didn’t taste good. We had to go in to town and get a proper breakfast. Glad we only stayed one night.

Definitely not the experience I expected from a 5-star hotel. Room was extremely hot because the cooling was turned off due to it being cold outside and only the heater was available. I understand it’s cold outside but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be cold inside. My room was so hot my family and I were sweating and couldn’t sleep. I called the front desk and they said sorry only heater is available, but you can open the windows and sleep like that. Sleeping with windows open and hot in a 5-star hotel??!! This is unheard of. I opened the windows and there is a casino outside with screaming and fighting throughout the night and both of my toddlers could not sleep and were sweating. That was my only problem but it was enough to ruin my two nights with no help from the staff.

A Zaragosa two day visit from Barcelona. Worthwhile city to visit. Hotel nice, rooms large, due to time of year roof top pool was closed, hotel was within half a mile of were the Zaragosa night life is, and within mile of main plaza, easy walking.

The hotel took away the electricity from 1-6am and the heat inthe room was terrible. We could barely sleep all night. The management failed to warn us and we could not rest properly. The rooms are large, but quite dated-centrally located in a quite area.

On the whole it was excellent. My only complaint was at breakfast (which was excellent). The breakfast staff had to be asked for coffee, rarely did any come over when you entered and sat down to ask if you wanted coffee, we always had to go and ask or get the attention. Mostly they seemed to be talking amongst themselves ...

History repeats itself

We booked a stay for our daughter, her husband and child in this hotel because my wife and I had stayed there for 3 days with our children in 1984. It was a high point in our 2 month European holiday, so when we discovered one of now-adult daughters and her family were going to be traveling from Barcelona to the Gallego region of Spain and remembered our visit from over 30 years ago, we decided to allow them all to relive and/or experience your wonderful hotel.
They were not disappointed, although they mentioned that the hotel has \"slipped\" a bit from 5 stars to maybe 4+, but still, they thoroughly enjoyed their visit. I reminded them that I was not quite the fellow I was 33 years ago, but still had some residual sentimental value. Best Wishes from the Levin family.

We had a superior double room which was well appointed, very comfortable and worth the extra expense. The staff were very friendly. The hotel restaurant was closed for August but this was not a particular problem as there are many places to eat nearby. The hotel is central and ideal for access to the city. We used the hotel basement car park; large spaces but very tight access.

Good hotel and location but lacking a few details

Great because it had a rooftop pool and terrace for the hot summer afternoons and double glazing so no outside noise as with some of the older hotels in the centre of town. But some things starting to show wear and tear - shower screen leaked and shower head was dripping a bit. Also towels for the pool had to be obtained from a cloakroom in the gym the floor below and then there was no where to put used towels after using the pool. Finally they provide a kettle with tea and coffee in the room but no milk, reception informed us that we Could get this by phoning phone room service - silly niggles but it just took the edge of the idea of luxury.

Two night stay as part of 3 week touring holiday. Difficult to find hotel car park initially but it was great garage. Hotel excellent. We only had breakfast as restaurant in hotel didn't appeal to us for dinner. Excellent location to explore and enjoy the city. Staff very helpful and courteous. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Good hotel - great staff service

Three nights. Parked at the hotel and never moved the car. Breakfast was good and the staff was friendly and helpful. A couple of small problems came up ( AC not working wrong bed type) and they were handled instantly and with a smile. Ice machines were not available on the floor as stated in the room brochure but was delivered to the room within 5 minutes of a request at the desk. The roof top pool was open and really appreciated during a mini heat wave. We would definitely stay there again if we were in the area.
