It was in a nice area easy to get to from the airport and easy to get to the train station. Excellent shopping and food options. ATM very nice at 7-11. The room was fine, although everything about it felt dated or otherwise cheap (from the sliding wood window covers to the washlet). I was able to plug my Switch into the TV and play it, so that's a plus. The staff ranged from \"fine\" to \"lovely,\" although the latter where the minority here. There were a couple vending machines in the hotel, one of which was in the same room as the laundromat, which had 3 (or 4, I forget) washing machines and dryers. I had a view of the Ayase station, so it's pretty close; there was also a 7-11 very nearby (as in, it's near enough that you can see it down the street when you walk out the hotel's front door), and a handful of other convenience stores within a 3-5min walk of the hotel. As with other Smile Hotels, you have to turn in your key when you leave the hotel, and that makes me feel like I'm being babysat (or otherwise 'watched'), so I don't care for that. Also, on my 2nd night, I could hear a neighbor's TV pretty loud; at one point, I think that person kicked the wall. Not sure what that was all about. So that's the kind of clientele this hotel has, I guess: loud-TV wall-kickers. But hey, come here for a day when you need to do some laundry.

The hotel itself is a bit outdated but it’s still very clean and nice. We had a hard time with the ac but we were able to leave the window open for circulation. Rated as a 4 because of the surrounding area primarily. It’s super convenient to get around with the bus stops, train station, and a taxi service down the street. Dining options are pretty wide spread. Probably one of the best Yakiniku spots around the corner up some stairs. Perfect place to just explore. Highly recommend just for that factor.

Hotels with smoking rooms is rare now, and i love that this hotel can accommodate that. The room is clean, and really quiet, can hardly hear anything from outside. Though i feel the room is a bit dark, and maybe needs more lighting. The breakfast buffet is also good.

The only thing I did not like was that the information here in Expedia about parking is not correct. I was told that parking needs to be reserved when I was onsite already. The day i went, parking was already fully reserved. But they were prepared and have a printout of nearby coin parkings around the area. A bit hassle because I had to carry heavy stuff and walk a bit.

Spent my first night in Japan here. Basically a fairly typical Japanese business hotel so fairly small but this didn't bother me as it had everything I needed and I don't spend much time at the hotel anyway. The location is very good in terms of access to public transport as the train station is directly opposite the hotel, and there are plenty of food and shopping options within walking distance. The staff were very friendly and attentive, they spoke good English and would do everything to help you out. It does take some time to commute to areas of Tokyo that most tourists visit such as Shinjuku, but consider that a good way to see the daily commute of the citizens. Overall I enjoyed my time here and would maybe not stay here again, just because I know a bit more about the layout of Tokyo, but I definitely wouldn't avoid it.

The Smile Hotel was quite different to what we had expected in the images. We had specified a non-smoking, double room in our booking. Upon checking in, we had been given a smoking room on a smoking floor, the bathroom smelled like someone had urinated in the bathtub. We brought this to the attention of a staff member at reception, who then told us that there were no other rooms available except a single room on a non-smoking floor, or a double room on a smoking floor. We informed him of the details of our booking (including the fact that I am an asthmatic) and presented our itinerary which clearly stated double room on a non smoking floor. It took about 30 mins at reception to then be told that there was a slightly bigger room (not single, not double) on a non-smoking floor which we opted to take. We were then told that this would be raised with the hotel manager. On the first night after midnight we moved our luggage to the slightly bigger non-smoking floor room, and then on the second night we again relocated to the correct room - which was apparently \"not for sale\". Having to move our luggage twice to relocate rooms on two consecutive nights, from two rooms which we did not book to one we finally booked, with no reimbursement for the nights we lost was not a good experience.

Good location with a JR Pass, and good room rates

The location is fairly good if you are traveling with the JR pass, it’s less than a 5 minute walk to the Ayase station which connects to the JR Lines and Subways. However getting to the Ayase Station, using only your JR Pass, does requires one extra transfer at the Kita-Senju station to a local JR train in order to fully utilize the JR pass for traveling around Tokyo. Alternatively, you could take one of the subway lines (Chiyoda Line) directly to the Ayase Station, but that would cost about 240yen rather than for free with your JR Pass.

As expected for a Japanese business hotel, the rooms are fairly small. However, they do have everything you need. My room had a small fridge, a kettle, a flat-screen TV, a tub & shower, a desk, A/C, house-coats and good WiFi included.
The facility has laundry machines, and plenty of automatic dispensing machines.

The area has plenty of restaurants, convenient stores, grocery stores and activities. One of the best Ramen places I ever went to was right on the corner from the hotel. I did not have the breakfast so cannot comment on it, but there are plenty of other places to eat breakfast in the area. Some floors are non-smoking, and some are smoking, so make sure you are on the appropriate floor, because the smoking floors sure smell like smoke, but the non-smoking floors were fine.

Perfect hotel to stay in when traveling thru Tokyo

We liked our stay at this hotel! The room rate was perfect for our budget, the location of the hotel was perfect for day trips around Tokyo Perfecture! I would definitely come back to this hotel if I was traveling to Tokyo again! Coming from America, the size of the room was funny, yet not surprising because Tokyo is known to be inhabited by thousands and the use of space is important. It just felt more cultural than staying in a large chain hotel!

Stayed at this hotel for 3 days. Hotel staff are attentive, courteous. The room was very small but clean, included a small refridgerator and hot water kettle for tea. There is a coffee shop which has an inexpensive, good breakfast and great coffee as well as sandwiches and light fare. The hotel is within walking distance of the train station and many good restaurants, 7 eleven, Family Mart. The price for this hotel was very reasonable for the Tokyo area and was quieter than being right within the Tokyo city area. I recommend this hotel.

The only annoying thing was that I had to change trains 3 times to get Ayase station from downtown Tokyo so if you have a large luggage, it could be a problem.

A typical Japanese hotel; small room combined with Japanese tidiness. You will be provided everything you need, from towels to free complementary Green Tea, haircomb, et cetera. As can be expected their English is of minimal quality, but with a bit of patience, everything can be achieved. The staff is friendly but very strict on check-in times. 3PM is the earliest; try to check-in earlier and you'll be asked friendly to come back later. Obviously you can leave your Luggage at the counter. Check-out time is just as strict, if not, more strict. A few minutes extra is not a problem if you call on time with the in-room Phone, but ask for an hour or two extra and you will be charged 30% of the nightrate. Location is superb, relatively far outside of Tokyo but less than a minute away from the Ayase train and metro station. For as little as 240Yen (2USD)you will reach the middle of Tokyo, such as Shibuya or Akihabara. All in all, I would rate it 8.5/10. Thank you for the stay!

Thinnest walls of 8 other hotels

Could hear my neighbor brushing his teeth in the bathroom next door! Other than hearing all of my neighbors which was disappointing, it was an awesome hotel with large spacious rooms (for Japan), extremely helpful staff, a great area of Tokyo with lots of shopping and near the Ayase train station which connects easily into the larger Tokyo grid. I would happily stay again.

Close to subway / JR station

The hotel is close to the Ayase subway/JR station. Only 5 minutes on foot. It is not in Downtown Tokyo and that's why the price is a little cheaper. If you want to visit the Tokyo Skytree, this hotel is quite close to that attraction. Overall the room was clean and comfy. One staff member can speak good English. He was quite helpful. Lots of Tokyo maps and tourist information are available at the hotel lobby, free of charge.

I've usually stayed in business hotels in Tokyo, so this was a new experience. The hotel is slightly outdated and awkwardly situated, but well worth it's price. Rooms are small, but not the smallest I've had. Most uncomfortable was the mattress. Not because it was hard, but the springs on it could be felt. Housekeeping good, staff friendly. The room had a little water cooker, but not a coffee machine. Perfect if one of you wants tea and the other instant coffee. Air conditioning was set on too hot and cound't be altered, but as it was spring, opening the window set it right. There's a supermarket at the subway station and if you don't like Japanese food, there's also Subway and McDonald's. Breakfast was not included and we didn't want to use the cafe downstairs of the hotel, so we went to Subways for breakfast. Walk from the subway station to the hotel only two minutes. I would use this hotel again if I needed to pay for myself.

My wife and i stayed in this hotel during a previous visit to japan. We decided to stay here again, this time with most of the family, because it is so conveniently located near the train and bus station. There are also several places where you can eat. My wife and i loved this small noodle and tempura place below a denny's restaurant. There's also a grocery store 2 blocks from the hotel and an ito yokado department store 3 blocks away on the main street. If this hotel were more centrally located, i would give it a five star rating. It does take a lot of train transfers to reach this hotel from the tokyo station. Not too convenient when you are carrying all that luggage around.

Rather far from sightseeing attractions

I would very much like to give this hotel a higher score because of its friendly staff and the cleanliness of my room, but 2 negative features have rather put me off staying here again. The first is the location: Ayase is rather far from the main sightseeing attractions, and traveling on the Chiyoda Line can be an unpleasant experience as trains are almost always packed. It is the only Tokyo Metro train line, in my experience, where bodies are pressed tightly together inside the carriages! The second negative point is that the curtain of the bathroom needed washing or airing as it stank of a urine-like smell. This is a very, very minor point and, I am sure, might have been just the room I was staying in, but it nevertheless put me off. For its location alone, sadly, that is the main reason why I will not stay in this hotel again next time I visit Tokyo.

The hotel allows smoking in the foyer and on many levels of the hotel and having allergies it was uncomfortable lucky I only stayed two nights. You can also here the trains going buy if your on the station side. Positive- you can see the sky tower on a clear night on the 9th floor very pretty.

Good hotel for Japanese speakers

I got the room on sale which made it worthwhile.
Ayase can be difficult to get to if you are new to Tokyo and have lots of luggage
Everything is in Japanese so it probably wouldn't be suitable to people that can't speak the language. The room was nice, good view, clean and the staff were friendly, although they didn't know how to get to narita airport from the hotel

Quiet Hotel

This hotel is located in the north part of Tokyo in a quiet community of Ayase. There is a market close by with some quick order restaurants in the local area. It is very close to the metro line too. The rooms are a bit cozy and do look on line at the type of bathroom facilities are pictured in the ad for the hotel . Our room was clean and had a small refrigerator.

At first I was a little worried about the Location.
Cause in general we think when it's cheaper, it's worse.
But I was just opposite than I thought. It was really nice. And It was not too far from the center of the city. The hotel room was not too small and it has everything that hotel should have.

The people at the hotel was very friendly, and especially I like the circumstance around the hotel. It has a domestic ambiance like my hometown. So it helped a lot to take a rest.

I strongly recommended this hotel AYASE KOKUSAI :)

Excellent service. The staff was always very friendly. They were very helpful even despite the language barrier.

The only reason that I gave a 4 for comfort was that the bed was way too hard for my liking. Otherwise it was a very pleasant experience.

I would like to have wifi available in all the rooms though. As of right now it is available only in the lobby and maybe on the first floor.

Ayase Kokusai Hotel - convenient hotel

The location is easy accessible and convenient to move from one place to another. Rooms are clean and well-maintained though a bit small. Added factor is the free use of internet connection. Staff are quite helpful.
I suggests that the hotel will provide foreign currency exchange services to enable guests like us who ran out of Japanese Yen after shopping and touring different tourists attractions.

綾瀬駅から近くてとても良かったが、室内や浴室の匂いが気になり満足は出来なかった。消臭グッズを買って匂い消ししました。また、室内の照明が調整できるといいなと感じました。化粧する時は、照明が暗かったです…。朝食付きで、おかずは日替わりでしたので、コスパは良いと感じます。

排水溝か何かの匂いがあって臭かった。
汚れも多少あって掃除が行き届いてないのかなと思いました。ユニットバスの部分のみ不満でしたが他は大丈夫でした。決して安いホテルで泊まってるわけではないのでショックでした。頑張ってください。
チェックアウト時、エレベーターに乗る際ボタンを押してくださった年配？の女性の方気遣いがとても良くて素敵でした。ありがとうございました。
