The place was accessible to a lot of places. However, the facilities are a bit old, didn't have enough sockets to charge phones (we got a room for 4 persons). Budget-wise it was good. Wifi didn't reach our room though.

It is close to everything, decent size room, great aircon, stayed 4 nights price is reasonable, no fancy stuff like small fridge or kettle. Cafe has a reasonable price too, internet not good in the room. Price for thermos of hot water is 30php. You have to ask or request for your room to be cleaned or put the sign outside your door unlike what we used to know that it is mandatory to clean room each day unless there’s a signage outside your door not to disturb. Across the street is McDonald’s, there’s also a supermarket where you can get everything you need for a wholesale price. Overall, it’s a decent place to stay. Taxi’s are not hard to find or you can always use grab as well.

Good location and reasonably priced

Pros - near tourist sites, convenience stores, eateries and Pier 1 for those taking early ferry. Room with good WiFi and a selection of cable TV. Reasonably spacious and clean. Hotel has lift and therefore luggage not a problem. Friendly staff with good information on surrounding areas.
Cons - no toiletries except two small pieces of soap, no coffee making kettle. Lobby is about 10 steps of stairs above street and need staff to help with luggage.

Aircon and Wifi issues

The Aircon makes a lot of noise, so it may disrupt your sleep.

The Wifi doen't work, they could work on the wifi connection which are vital for guests staying long term.

The location is fantastic though, near to city hall, the park behind, churches and great food!

Simply picked this hotel on its proximity to Cebu port for getting the ferry to Bohol.
We left our luggage while we were out on the day trip and returned to it soaked through as if it had been left outside.

Conveniently located at the city center. Very close to Magellan's Cross, Sto. Nino Church, Cathedral, Fort San Pedro and Pier 1. You can just walk to the Pier if your planning to go to Bohol.

There's a 24-hour McDonald's in front, and convenience stores/supermarket around the area.

Bars/hang out areas by the bay are just a few blocks away from the hotel.

The location is nice but the hotel service not so good they do not have hot water or just electric kettle you have to pay for 15 pesos for a cup of hot water, which is I think not reasonable. Our room was a little bit stinky I slept on the side and I smell something not so good. They are not cleaning the rooms everyday.

WORST HOTEL I’VE EVER STAYED IN

It was one of the worst places I’ve ever stayed in!

Condition of the rooms - BAD
- rooms look and smell old
- beds are not comfy to sleep on
- restroom is not well-maintained

Hotel Staff - WORSE
- we asked if there’s complimentary water and they said yes so we waited for them to deliver it to our room. Made two or three follow-ups until we checked out only to find out there’s no complimentary water.
- left our luggages before lunch time and went back around midnight. It took us almost half an hour to finally get some rest at our paid room! They’re not even apologetic!

It may be just a few meters away from Magellan’s Cross which was part of our itinerary, but NO, I will never ever stay in this poor hotel again!

I know its a low tiered hotel however they still should provide towels right away and not wait for the guest to call and request one. It also took an hour for the towels to be given, that is so slow for a turn around time or magbe they are understaffed.

I rate overall an A because it's worth it of what you pay. For me it's perfect place to stay just to have place to sleep and it's near Santo Nino and forth San Pedro to winding up and relax in the park. Staff are friendly.

Great cheap place to stay in the city.

This is for those who prefer private airconditioned rooms instead of shared dorms while on vacation, but want to keep the accommodation expenses at a minimum. It has the basic necessities you need. A clean bathroom, a cabinet, a mini ref, and a tv. The location is great for those who want to see the city, it's only a stone's throw away from the Magellan's cross and Basilica. It is also quite near the South Bus Terminal for those planning to go to Oslob, or Dumaguete during their trip. There is an island souvenirs store beside the building, and a McDonalds. There are also a few banks with atm around the area, convenient for those suddenly finding themselves short on cash. Though on the little-bit-negative side, their 24-hour cafe offers limited choice of food, and the rooms doesn't have complementary bottles of water.

PS. This is not the place for picky people expecting lavish amenities.

Accessible to tourist attractions

We enjoyed our stay in Sampaguita Suites, it is very close to tourist attractions like the Magellan's Cross and Basilica de Sto. Nino which is just across the street. The Cathedral is also just a block away and the Fort San Pedro is just a short walking distance. The Taboan Market is also few minutes away by taxi. Restaurants and fast food chains are also just within reach.

The room is modest but functional. Hot water, good Wi Fi. There is a snack bar where you can dine or enjoy Breakfast. The hotel is a little walk from the first ferry terminal. Next some sightseeing, market and shops. Did not like the view from the window on the trash. Many homeless and beggars around

I hope its just for me that happened during my stay...the TV is not working. I called for assistance but they did not bother to repair it. i did not pursue my complain because i'm leaving anyway the next day, very early morning. But at around 9pm the water from the ceiling is leaking with foul odor...that's the time i complained and demanded to change my room. anyway the front desk dutifully, adhere to my concern and we were transferred to room 506, this time everything is working.. my former room is 306. i just want to raise this problem with room 306: 1. the aurtomatic switch is not working (the one we insert the key) 2. the TV set is not working. no power. 3. the water is leaking from the ceiling with foul odor// better check this first before offering to customers // thanks and good day!

Convenient-but-could-be-better hotel

We booked a Family Executive Room. The space was big enough. There was cable tv. There was supposed to be wi-fi inside the room, they even gave us a password to use inside the room but there wasn't.
There were only four outlets, 1 for the tv, one for the box, another for the ref. Since there were four of us, we had to unplug all three so we could take one each. It was a real bummr because we had other devices to charge. We tried to borrow an extension cord but there wasn't any available.
The rest room was fine, though the toilet flush was not working on our 1st night so we asked them to fix it but when we got back from our Oslob day trip, we had to remind them again about it. They did fix it that 2nd night.
The area was not very good, there were so many homeless people in the vicinity. I was not surprised though as it was near the port.
Overall, the stay was ok. If you're looking for a comfortable and clean place to rest after a day's travel, if you can live without wifi, then this hotel is good enough for you.

Affordable hotel for short stays

We stayed here for one night in a standard double room. I like its location since it is close to the Sto. Niño Basilica and pier 1. We had to take Oceanjet the next day for Bohol. Outside the hotel, public transportation is available such as jeepneys and taxis. The security guard of the hotel hailed a taxi for us. There is also a McDonalds right across the street. The room is nice and quiet. Members of the staff are nice and accommodating. I would suggest that the amenities be upgraded. The water heater in the washroom wasn't working when we stayed there.

This hotel is for the travellers who are looking for a place to stay without having to spend too much money.

It was OK but...

Our stay was alright but not very remarkable. The staff were all very accommodating and friendly. One of the security guards even referred us to someone who has a van we can rent to go to around the famous places in Cebu. The hotel itself seemed quite old, but the room we got had the basic amenities we needed. However, there was only one AC outlet available in the whole room as the other outlets were being used for the TV, digibox, and fridge. The toilet door would only close when you push it with full force. The bed linens had permanent stains on them. The airconditioner did not make the room as cool as it should. Overall, the hotel can use some renovations. We got what we paid for, I guess. The hotel stay was cheaper than most, after all.

Only stayed here for a night as we spent most of our time going to tourist places.
PROS - Magellan's cross, Sto. Niño Basilica, and Fort San Pedro are a block away. Mcdonald's, Chicken Inasal, and a grocery store are across the street. Getting a taxi is easy.
CONS - Check in process was slow. There was no proper line at the check in counter. Guests can easily interrupt the receptionist. No running water for a period of time. They gave us 2 buckets of water when we asked. The faucets seemed like they're falling apart.
Overall, it was okay. You get what you pay for.

The only saving grace of this hotel is its location. It's a stone's throw to Magellan's Cross and the Basilica Sto. Nino. Mcdonalds is across the street.
The bed sheets were threadbare and dingy so were the towels. The staff though was responsive to our requests. The first room we were given, the tv was not working - after about a half hour of finagling with the cable box to no avail we were given another room but the refrigerator was out of order too, which was promptly replaced. To top it all they ran out of water, which had to be trucked in. After a long hot day we all wanted to take a shower, but the water didnt get there until very late that night.

A Budget Abode While In Cebu

As the purpose of the stay with the hotel is to attend the national motorcycle convention of the Philippines, the venue was perfect to the location of the hotel. The room as a whole is down to earth basic but distinctly clean, shower is hot and cold with strong pressure, there is in-house massage. The cafe on the 2nd floor is just enough to meet a sudden hit of hunger and you may need to go out and have a better dining. The hotel is just a couple of blocks away from the famous Sto. Nino Cebu Basilica.

I've stayed at higher star rating hotels that were more expensive than this.

Room size is amazing. Bed size is great, and there is two of them!

There was a mixup with my registration in which they accidentally entered me into their computer for a single night, when I had bought two. It was just an easy mistake to make. They were professional and confirmed the correct number of nights.

I come too and from the philippines a lot. I've stayed in many hotels. This one is right up there with allure or orchard in terms of quality of room and services provided. A TON of hotels are a huge price for little in return, as well as poor attitudes when helping a customer. This hotel did not have that nonsense. And I gotta say... for how much I travel here, what a relief it is. I think I'll be a permanent customer here. Thank you!

About a 10 min walk with luggage from OceanJet ferry terminal, main reason why I chose it. Late arrival - hotel has 24hr cafe upstairs which would have been great but unfortunately no vegetarian options. Ironically a 24hr McDonalds opposite which was very handy - a vege meal there just about scrapable together. Was v close to Magellan's Cross - illuminated - so late night sightseeing possible and also a walk past illuminated Plaza Independencia with Fort San Pedro for a bit more basic sightseeing on way there from ferry.

No wifi in room! But good wifi in lobby.

Was located in a bit of a rough area with homeless people right in front, there was security guard though so just don't walk alone at night, in the day was fine.

Across from mcdonalds!!!!!

Us 4 adults booked 2 double beds - they only had a double and single. With much hassle they put us in proper room for one night so we stayed the 1 night and cancelled the rest of our booking.

Room was clean but had many small tiny spiders in a corner. Very dated (paint cracking on walls).

Bathroom has the toilet and shower together without separation.

Spa was good, the ladies very friendly and accommodating, not too experienced but it didn't matter for the cheap prices and friendliness.

great location worth everthing. attractions walk away. close to local market too. AA bbq is cross street from plaza independia. just ask anyone if you like bbq, AA is famous. 60php texi to south bus terminal if you want to go south Cebu.
200 php texi to Taorious temple, or prison to watch dance inmate. 200 php to airport. 100 p to Ayala mall, sky experience.

We stayed here just one night before flying home. It was a great price which is what we were looking for since we wouldn't be there long. There were two single beds in the room and a nice shower. The hotel also has a spa (I got a pedicure) and a restaurant (cheap and tasted fine, so it was convenient....otherwise McDonalds is across the street too, which we also did).

That's not what we paid for!

We were upset that the room we paid for was not provided to us. We were given a room with triple single beds while on our reservation we paid for a Family room since its the only room available with a double size bed. We paid and reserved on line through Hotels.com. If the room was not available we should have been advised to be able to find another hotel and returned our money. But instead they took the liberty of giving us a room of their choice!

Quality at its finest! We had the barkada room with a double bed, single bed and extra bed for the 4th person. The room was clean and spacious (including the bathroom). The hotel staff were helpful from check-in to check-out. We rang couple of times and responded to our requests promptly. Aircondition is perfect for the weather. TV is outdated but we're not there for this. The hotel is just right across the basilica of cebu and magellans cross. Hotel requires 500 deposit upon arrival, refundable after check out. It seems the elevator is tight (with all our baggage inside). Can't complain, could've stayed longer. But will choose this hotel the next time we visit Cebu.

Central Budget Hotel

No frills budget hotel. Small room, no bottled water, coffee maker, fridge, blankets & no shampoo supplied, only soap & towels provided. Good air-cond, old 21\" TV but with clear & many excellent cable TV channels. Friendly staff who greet you every time they see you. Water pressure low & cannot really control temperature. Within 5-10 mins walk, you can visit Magellan Cross, City .Hall, Sto Nino Basilica, Cebu Metro Cathedral, Fort San Pedro, Independence Plaza. Within 15-20 mins, you can walk to Cebu Heritage monument, Yap Heritage & Jesuit houses, Colon street, Pier 3 etc. Within 25-30mins you can walk to Pier 4 & buy a day trip ticket for 2,850p from 2Go Travel before 8am for an all inclusive guided tour of Bohol. SuperCat ferry leaves Pier 4 at 8.30am & return ferry from Bohol is at 5.45pm. Ferry journey is 2 hours. 3 supermarkets / convenience stores within 5 mins walk, McDonald's opposite hotel, plenty of local food nearby within 10 mins walk. Hotel has Spa & small cafe. If you plan to be out most of the day, this hotel is an excellent choice, but don't expect 4 or 5 star facilities.

Ok hotel downtown close to fort and catherdral

Stayed there for 2 nights staff was quite helpful the rooms are dated but ok for the price, beds not the most comfy. Central location in downtown 2 minutes from the cathedral and old fort only 100pesos in a taxi to the Ayala mall

Clean rooms

The room was clean. The beds were a bit hard, but fine for a short term visit. In terms of toiletries you only receive hand soap. The staff was very helpful when it came to requests related to our room, but not with advice about the surrounding area. The location was good. The hotel is located within a two minute walk of the pier, where you can get a ferry to the neighboring island of Bohol.

Great Hotel Location

If you like to immerse on Cebu's history. Near to Magellan's Cross. If you like quite atmosphere, this is not for you as it is in the middle of commerce and place of worship.

Staff was too noisy too early! Poor shower &pillow

Staff was way too noisy too early. A LOT of banging in the kitchen! The shower head kept falling apart. The pillows are too small and cheap!

location location location

The only decent hotel located right in the heart of Cebu's main tourist district. Magellan's Cross and the church complexes are just a few steps away. Contrary to earlier reviews, lots of food places nearby but mostly fast food options. A good BBQ place around the corner. Room is small but clean, beds are hard. No wifi in the room.

The best part about this hotel was the location because we had a very limited time in Cebu City. The hotel is a block away from Magellan's Cross, about three blocks away from Santo Niño church, San Pedro's Fort, and the Pier, which takes you too the various islands east of Cebu. No taxi required! Well, unless you're lazy and don't want to sweat under the blazing sun. Bonus: it has hot water :-) Biggest disappointment: breakfast was NOT included and wifi only available in the lobby.

a hotel within a city

it was an enjoyable stay a convenient and access-able hotel located in the city, it is also near the CFO office where i am going it was safe the staff are very friendly and kind and you wont get bored near the Santo Nino Basilica and Plaza Independencia im sure u will like it... :-)
