Everything about this majestic hotel was exceptional—truly a highlight of our journey home to Canada from Florida.
Although we arrived several hours early, we were graciously welcomed the moment we stepped in (still dressed in summer clothes from a much warmer climate than the 5° temperature!). The friendly staff and owner, Mr. Monahan, made us feel immediately at home.
Maggie at the front desk kindly explained the history of the building while escorting us through the impressive hall, beautifully decorated with period furnishings, to our large and charming room. The room was tastefully updated with modern touches—especially an excellent shower—while still preserving the historic character of the property.
It truly felt like the perfect place to stay and immerse ourselves in the nostalgia of Gettysburg. We also enjoyed a wonderful supper at the pub restaurant conveniently located on the premises.
A unique place to stay and certainly not to be missed. We will definitely look forward to visiting again!

Very clean room. Keep in mind the hotel is in an old building. It had modern touches and updates but is an old building. The staff was beyond friendly with great recommendations of the area. We will definitely be returning and recommending to friends.

First off.. This is not a \"Hotel' . It's a boutique hotel with B&B feel. Old school with 10 to 12 rooms available. Each room was a class room. Very very cool. King size bed, Good cooling/heating system that's not too loud, Huge bathroom with beautiful morning sunlight!!!! The folks at the desk are charming upon arrival and they would give you a bit of history while walking you to your room. Any questions/directions you might have, they will go beyond helping you. My husband and I needed a quick getaway from the Philadelphia area and this was perfect!!! You can walk everywhere from here. On Googles map it might look like it's off the beaten path but it's not. One suggestion I would make to the hotel is that they offer robes for their baths, especially in the colder months. The room are large with high ceilings...at least on the first floor where we stayed.

Per other reviews the room was very clean, beds were comfortable, room was very spacious. Staff was very courteous. But I can’t give this place 5 stars. There is no central lobby of any size to enjoy the ambiance, the road noise was surprisingly evident, the TV system was a couple of generations behind and there was a dehumidifier present in the room. Five stars means “close to perfect” for me and the Federal wasn’t quite there.

This inn is incredible. Historic but updated. The staff is so friendly and accommodating and make you feelso welcome. The pub has a wonderful atmosphere and the food is amazing! You can sit out on the porch and enjoy a drink if you want, or dine outside in the summer. It doesn't have an elevator so if you can't do stairs make sure to request a first floor room but don't let that stop you. I will definitely stay here when I visit Gettysburg. Well done!

The property was unique. Built in 1896. Quaint and nostalgic, fitting for the area. The problem we experienced was the room A/C wasn’t working so they brought in a large cooler that ran constantly. It looked like it had been there for some time which led me to question why a hotel of this stature hadn’t had the room A/C repaired.
We hardly got an hours sleep because of the noise of the cooler. Will never stay at this property again!!!

We absolutely loved the hotel and its location. The staff, Maggie and Mike in particular were just awesome. We were treated exceptionally, given a lot of info about the hotel and its history. Met some others nice people. We were fortunate enough to experience Willies BBQ, amazing! If your like us and like to walk everywhere this is the place. Very close to downtown yet far enough that it is very quite and tranquil. Really enjoyed our stay and will return. Just be sure to if it is Bike Week, outside of the hotel our entire stay was ruined by bike week..

My issue with the hotel was the excessive heat in our room. Apparently the heat is now fixed to permanent ‘On’…so if you have the fan running on the thermostat…only option is heat. When we entered the room initially, it was every bit of 80 degrees. We thought we had turned the heat down..and anticipated the room would cool off after we returned from dinner. Upon return, the heat was worse. Called the front desk and was told to just turn the fan off, room would cool off eventually and there was nothing she could do. With no sir moving, the room never cooled off. Luckily, we were able to open a window but then had to listen to street traffic and have the street light coming in through the window. By 7am…room was still too warm and we had a miserable night, with little sleep. When we checked out, lady at desk apologized for our issue but made no effort to make the situation right. I looked at other reviews i of the hotel…and found one other talking about an overly hot room…so it’s an issue. If you’re cold-natured and have your home thermostat set to 85, this place is for you. For the price, I’d expect more…at least an offer to get a fan for the room or something. We won’t be back.

My new favorite Hotel to stay in Gettysburg! Beautiful rooms and excellent staff. Staff went out of their way to make sure we had all we needed and more. Enjoyed a nice dinner downstairs with piano music and a great breakfast next door on their property. Very close to restaurants- only 3/4 blocks from the town circle. Traffic was a little noisy in the morning and the floor creaked above us when other people woke up but that's to be expected with a building from the 1800's. Overall a great experience and highly recommended!

We liked the property and enjoyed our 3 day stay. The staff is friendly and helpful. It is a brief walk to downtown Gettysburg and there are lots of restaurants near by. The pub is nice, we only had a night cap, and the Federal Pointe Grill has a good breakfast. I would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to visit again.

One of the best places we have ever stayed. Staff is friendly. Food in the lower restaurant was great! Quite neat hotel. Very unique with history. Only issue is if you're on top floor and you have a lot of baggage, it's all stairs from what we saw. Otherwise you will highly enjoy this hotel.

This is a beautiful property with lovely large rooms that have a great large walk in shower with plenty of hot water & some very nice toiletries. It is within walking distance of many restaurants & shops & a short drive to all the historical sights. We were checked in by a lovely young lady. It was about 90 degrees that day & when we went to our room it was like an oven. The a/c was not working properly & she very quickly moved us to another room. I really would like to score this hotel 10/10 but unfortunately the first night we stayed we decided to eat in the hotel restaurant & it was terrible. Our server was a young man who was obviously new. He was quite nervous but was absolutely lovely. He asked some other members of staff a few questions & they were frankly quite rude to him. The restaurant did not appear to be that busy. We ordered our food & waited over an hour for it to arrive & when it did my husband sent his straight back - the pork was undercooked & some of the veg was burnt. My meal was not much better but I did manage to eat most of it. The guy we assumed was the manager was running around like a headless chicken. He didn't seem to know what food was for which table. If they were too busy for the amount of staff they had they should have told us that & we would have happily ate elsewhere. Our young server was completely lovely & kept apologizing. We told him it was not his fault & when we left a tip we made sure he was getting it & not the chef.
