It is in the middle of town and that's about it,no reception no welcome ,we were lucky the gift shop was open and there was someone there to tell us where our room was. The good thing about the room was that it was right beside the parking and that's the only good thing. It was dated,with spoty WiFi, loud AC and rotten stairs and bannister. How come nobody break a leg or worst I still don't understand.

We stayed in the Welty House section of the property. It was odd in that there was no parlor or common room to sit in.
The room was ok. Nothing too special but it had an attached sitting room with more space & a large bathroom. Odd again was the balcony off the bathroom.
We couldn’t find a glass or plastic cup anywhere for a drink of water…or even a complimentary bottled water.
One advantage was in the heart of the historic district. Disadvantage, it is a main business thoroughfare that was heavy with traffic & very loud.
I would not choose to stay here again.

The inn is really well located and the garden is lovely. We stayed in the Delaware room and even though it lets out onto a busy street, it was quiet because the windows and doors are noise blocking. A real plus is the mini split in the room for AC or Heat. So often AC or heat are so noisy. This was whisper quiet and appreciated. The room is a bit worn and a teeny bit musty. It could use a freshening up. But it is spacious and we slept well. The grab and go breakfast option worked well for us but real cream, half and half, or milk would be appreciated for the coffee and tea. We detest coffee mate which is all that was available. BUT they do offer a guest fridge so we bought half and half and yogurts to supplement what they had to offer which was bagels, muffins, toast, oranges, apples, and instant oatmeal and snack bars, coffee and tea.

This is a great location! You can walk everywhere. We stayed in the Illinois Room and it was perfect. Mallory was very helpful when we tried to get in, but had the wrong code. I highly recommend this place! We did not have the breakfast, but I saw lots of reviews on how good it is.

Everything was clean and we really enjoyed the porch with the Delaware room. The tub is a bit high to step into (just an fyi), but the shower was nice. I recommend bringing your own shampoo etc ( we did) as they have a shampoo/body soap in one dispenser that really does not go with the rest of the room. The rest of the room was really cute and of the time period, the soap dispensers just stuck out. We received a text with the entry code with no problem and did not do breakfast, so we did not really encounter staff to give a rating to, this is the reason for the neutral rating. The room was clean and comfortable and we slept well. The parking does require going down some stairs, just something to keep in mind if you have mobility issues. The location is great for walking around town and very near the cemetery and battlefield. It was a nice stay.

Grubby, lack of staff, no water in the water cooler at 8:30am. There was no staff to be found. The "take away" breakfast consisted of mealy out of season apples and an orange. Instant oatmeal, but no water or milk. The pastry shelf had the same sad muffins and coffee cake from the day before. Property is run down and it's loud .The staff were clueless when it came to basic questions. You should not be allowed to claim yourself a bed and breakfast if you charge 18$ for paltry offering. Much nicer places to stay.

The bathroom was the cleanest place in the whole bedroom. The grab and go breakfast wasn’t nothing to write home about. We feel the Brickhouse bed and breakfast had changed hands per some the reviews we read. The ground area needed a total cleanup. We thought that they would supply at least couple bottles of water for room. Per the email we received they were providing a complimentary glass of champagne every day in June at 5pm. That only happened on the day we arrived. The only thing good we can say was the location was good. But wouldn’t stay again .

Our stay was in the Delaware Room of the Welty House which is next door to The Brickhouse Inn. The Welty House was built in the 1830s and was the sight of Gettysburg fighting. The house very clean and tastefully decorated. We were greeted by a friendly hostess who familiarized us with our room and the door keypad and traditional key. The backyards of the two house feature a fire pit and lots of seating. The house is a short walk from the Gettysburg Square/Circle and shopping. They even UPSed me my shaving kit that contained my medications and toiletries that I have left behind. Highly recommended.

The staff at the Brickhouse Inn were very helpful. I always had a quick response when I sent them a questions they the messaging part of the Expedia app. We stayed in the Texas Room- such a beautiful room, decorated nicely. So fun to stay in a place that was a part of history. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was great and everything was very clean. It is in a great spot in town, very walkable to both ends of the main section of town. We did the grab and go breakfast a few days and had the air down breakfast 1 morning- delicious!! We really enjoyed rocking in the chairs on the porch in the evening and mornings. We hope to be back someday to visit again!!

When my friend and I arrived, staff were confused about our reservation. I don’t know who I was texting when I finally got a response from the number I texted. The Inn does not pick up the phones. When we decided to leave because we wanted to head home, they did not offer a refund. Expedia did a great job reaching out to the Inn although we were denied of the refund. The place seems shady and the staff were okay but not organized for bookings. Even walking in we weren’t greeted. It was very disappointing. I would advise looking some place else. $360 for two nights for the room we got was not the best deal and now we won’t get our money back. Shady for sure!!!

The good: Great location, super cute room, quiet. You can walk to lots of shops and restaurants.

The bad: We had some confusion checking in. There is no front desk and apparently I missed the message that I was supposed to contact the property at least 24 hrs ahead of getting there. So, we arrived and there was no way to check in. We called the number in our email multiple times and only got a message from a “ghost tour”? It took over 1/2 hour to get a message from maybe? A real person? I never did actually talk to anyone.

The room was hot. The air conditioner was set as cold as it would go but it wasn’t putting out much cold air. There was no staff at the place to contact, so we just turned on the ceiling fan and made due.

Stairs! This was not a problem for me, but if you are staying here, you should be aware that the parking lot is a flight of stairs up from the entrance and your room may be on the 3rd floor.

Home beautifully decorated. Convenient. Steps to and from parking on back alley. Description states 9 hot tubs. Saw only one in yard behind Welty house. Unfortunately located on major road at a light. Very loud when trying to sleep in front bedroom.

Given 2 entry codes then told only one would work after we arrived. I don't think front door locked. Someone entered without code looking for the souvenir shop. There was NO champagne reception.

Only one dispenser in shower labeled "shampoo, soap, conditioner". Mattress in need of being replaced. Sagged so bad on one side that it felt I would fall out. TV only visible from one side of the bed or single chair. Community frig in dining room is very small. No ice available.

Free breakfast consisted of prepackaged granola bars, bread and muffins and a keurig. The $18/pp breakfast was good except for shoe-fly pie. 3 courses, not 4.

We stayed in the Kentucky Room of the Welty house for 3 nights in June 2026.

We arrived about 845pm. There was no parking, but when I contacted the help line, they were able to direct me to legal (and free) parking nearby to unload. Parking was not an issue the rest of our stay.

The grab and go breakfast was ok. The coffee available is all K cups, so again ok. They did have a wide selection of flavors including teas for the Keurig machine. Bantham Coffee was about 2 blocks away if you are looking for more gourmet coffee. The grab and go items included some granola bars, instant oatmeal cups, and assorted breads, bagels, etc. It was adequate but we ate our breakfast out every morning. We did not opt for the hot served breakfast there so we cannot comment on it.

Room was clean cool and comfy when we arrived. Bed was very comfortable. AC unit was able to keep it cool during the 80 degree plus weekend. There was a nice balcony porch off the room to sit outside overlooking the courtyard area. Courtyard area was nice, it had many chairs and tables around. We did not use the hot tub so we cannot comment on it.

Our number one favorite part of this was the excellent location in downtown Gettysburg. We walked to 90%+ of the things we did all weekend. The only driving we did was to the visitors center, tour the battlefield, and the Beyond the Battle museum. Every other tour, restaurant, and shop we visited was a 10 min walk max.

Enjoyed our stay, would stay again.

Missed breakfast due to miscommunication/misunderstanding but property staff are very friendly and helpful. The back area has lots of seating to enjoy and relax. The decor even in the office is quite historical and a bit unsettling in my opinion unless you are not spooked easily. All night I could not sleep because there was heavy walking and sound like furniture being dragged across floor - doubtful that another traveler would be moving furniture or walking all night so read into that what you may. I, however, did not sleep.

Owners need to review definition of “B&B”. We have never stayed at a B&B before that charged extra for breakfast.

We were disappointed. We have stayed at the Brickhouse Inn 2 other times with others and have family that have also stayed there. We were shocked to see how the grounds were not mowed and not weeded out front and complete lack of care. We did wonder if perhaps the business had been sold and was in transition. All I know is it is not the place it was. The bed was comfortable but the bedding was old and worn. Those beautiful homes need some TLC. The location as always was perfect.

Called and asked about accessibility, my wife is in a wheelchair, was told no problem you are on the ground floor with your own entrance. Got to property parking was in alley behind building, easily 75 to 100 ft down steep steps with no railings, not possible to get my wife down them. Talked with staff and basically told tough luck, no refund, no help to find other accommodations. Ended up having to book another room 20 miles away in Chambersburg. Yeah I would really “recommend “ this place.

Really loved this place. Very charming, has some historical relevance, and is in a great location. Walking distance from downtown and a short drive (or long-ish walk) to most sites. We were only there one night and didn't use many amenities, but we hope to come back for a longer stay. Grab n go breakfast was honestly way better than breakfast you'd find at most "major" hotels. Our only complaint is that we did not get a visit from the ghost that haunts the room we stayed in.

The room was nice and the bed was very comfortable! The bathroom was tiny and the toilet felt like it belonged in an elementary school. It’s a cool old house! Staff was nice but there seems to be a disconnect with communication between the owner and them. We got several automated messages but staff was unaware of what they said. Also, do NOT spend the extra money for the “gourmet” breakfast! It’s not great and definitely not worth the price. Go to one of the cute local places instead. Overall, good… could use some improvements!

Very quaint, location was absolutely terrific. The only downside was that no staff seemed to be available for check in or just useful information.
Our check-in was saved only because a house keeping staff happened to find us fumbling at the front door with the wrong key code. The next day while sitting on the front porch, we assisted several guests that had the same experience. I helped several lady visitors with their luggage to their rooms since no elevators exist.
This might have been well spelled out in the intro papers but I admit reading prior to a vacation was a strong suit for me. Overall, due mainly to location, the place gets a 5 Star!

I've stayed in a number of B&Bs in the past. I like the homey atmosphere and delicious breakfasts they usually offer. I chose to stay at a B&B during my visit to Gettysburg expecting the same experience. I was greatly disappointed. Although I knew in advance that check in was self-service, I expected some type of welcome kit upon our arrival, making us feel at home. There was nothing and the information booklet in our room seemed more of a marketing tool for other Brickhouse offerings than informational about the area and things to do. That wasn't a big issue, but it was unexpected. The interior including common areas, bedroom and bath, while neat, clean and comfortable are in desperate need of updating, giving it a shabby feeling. Lastly, I didn't realize that the only breakfast included in our stay was a "take out" table. The breakfast offerings on the table were cheap items purchased in any local grocery store chain. I would have expected something a little more "homey", even for a take-out offering. How about homemade muffins, yogurt parfaits, overnight oats, mini-quiches, fresh fruit salad, etc.? The breakfast at the Hampton Inn we stayed at the night before was hands-down better than the breakfast at Brickhouse. I was very disappointed in my overall experience and wouldn't stay again.

I couldn't open my email from Expedia, so we went in without the usual helpful/ needed information. If you want a hot breakfast, you must book it at least 24 hr in advance. Continental breakfast was sufficient.

Property was historic and interesting. Beautiful backyard seating area with tall trees. Grab and go breakfast was sufficient. Great location. Friendly hosts.
Parking area was distant from the house over uneven ground with insufficient lighting. Also, there were not enough parking spaces for the number of guests. We had to park on a public street 2 blocks away. While the interior of the historic house was well done, it was a bit cramped and the room itself was somewhat claustrophobic. There were three floors and no elevator. the stairways to the upper floors were quite steep and very narrow. In summary, we felt that this property was not suitable for anyone with limited mobility and there should be some mention of this either by the reservation taker or the marketing materials for the property.

Don't waste your money staying here! We ended up at another hotel because of the lack of help and the horrible room. The toilet felt like the height of one in a pre-school and the climate control of the room was terrible. The bathroom was very small and not very friendly to use. The sound of the traffic was not good either. Could not reach any staff to discuss our concerns had to send an email to get answered 2 days later. Lock to main house door was supposed to be kept locked and was not. Hot tub was also out of order and was not told until the day before arrival. Again don't waste your time with these people, go somewhere else!

Most bed and breakfast include a hot breakfast, not here unless you pay extra per person. This is not mentioned in the Expedia information. Only after booking did I find out from info sent to me from the property. Could not cancel without losing my money. Then received info that a champagne social at 5:00 pm to meet staff and other guests starting in April only to get updated info 2 days prior to arrival that it wouldn't start until June. No sorry or any reason given on why not as advertised in earlier info. The code to get into the room did not work for us or 2 other rooms' guests that we met trying to get in.By dumb luck one of the staff was leaving but stayed to help us get into our rooms. The only thing I can say that was good was that the room was very clean and so were the common areas, also the staff member who helped us get in was great and very apolegetic. The grab and go breakfast was a great disappointment compared to other B&B's I have stayed at. The hot tub was out of order, the rooms toilet belongs in a pre- k room, not for adults and the bathroom sink drained so slowly. I truly regret staying here with so many other choices to choose from.

We had a wonderful day at Gettysburg. When we got to the property, our room was very warm. The air conditioning did not work at all. The Internet did not work. There was no television. We did turn it into the owner. Who sent somebody at 8:45 PM. They weren’t able to fix it or the Internet in the other rooms. The entire house had an issue with Internet and TV. The person who came stated that we would get a partial refund. We never got an apology even from the owner. I realize things happen. I would’ve thought the owner could’ve at least made it right in some manner. If I ever return back to Gettysburg, it will not I will not stay there. I thought it was very poor customer service.

This was my second Gettysburg visit in a year and my first time visiting The Brickhouse Inn. My experience was outstanding. Online booking and check in was easy. Clear and gracious pre-arrival communications were extremely helpful. The historic grounds, inn, and my room were very clean and inviting. It was a step back to another time in all the best ways. The staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. Patricia was truly a fabulous host at any hour of the day. And her fresh baked afternoon cookies were delicious, not to mention her spirited good humor and conversations. When I return to Gettysburg again, the place where I lay my head at night has already been decided. Thank you again for a wonderful experience.

My 2nd time here - first time I stayed in the Welty House, this time the Brickhouse. Loved the outdoor seating. The hot tub was very nice, but the temperature was extremely hot. Love the historic vibe. Nice staff, responded in a timely fashion. Would rather have bars of soap vs the soap dispenser since it disconnected very easily in the shower. Otherwise, slept well and will return again in the near future.

Some rooms are way upstairs- mine was two flights up and that was a bit hard. Breakfast was ok- not great. I opted for the one you had to pay for and wish I had just had the free bagels!

Location, location, location. We had the most wonderful stay at this beautiful property which is located just minutes away from everything Gettysburg. We stayed in the Kentucky Suite in the historic Welty House, and it did not disappoint. It was the perfect place for our seven night stay. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable and went out of their way to make our visit memorable. The grab-and-go breakfast was a plus. We highly recommend staying here on your next visit to this amazing town.

Inn was nice, historic, and located walking distance to shops, museums, downtown, and the battlefield. Staff was nice and so relaxed which surprised me after the excessive messages I received before checking in. Parking was tight for a large vehicle, but easy though you do have to walk down and up stairs with luggage.

Everything from booking to checkout went smoothly. Our room was comfortable & clean. Friendly staff. The included breakfast was sufficient for us ~ bagels, granola bars, muffins, fresh fruit, coffee & tea. Homemade chocolate chip cookies left on the table were a treat!

The staff members were delightful and engaging but the house is over a hundred years old. The temperature in our room was hot; we were not able to adjust it with the remote provided. Our friends stayed in a room with a broken air vent fan in the bathroom that made so much noise they could not keep it on during their shower. Also, the local ghost tour goes onto the property in the evening and the tour participants are noisy. If you like a place with lots of character and charm and you enjoy ghost tours, this is your place.
