we wanted historic and got it. it was a very hot day, so any respite was good, and any annoyance would have been significant. fortunately, ez and comfortable. these hosts are from Boston, so it has New England laid back intelligence and class. the property itself is interesting. all the rooms looked interesting. the breakfast was maybe too much, though some probably like it that way. i think they could go lighter, though it's an impressive show and they are morning people! if you want to nitpick, some of the bulbs were mismatched, which is an easy fix (maybe deliberate diversity). when you like the people who are working hard, you want to pitch in! certainly the best b&b ever for us, and best gettysburg lodging option (last time i was on the circle with a hot tub, but this is better, and well priced). i wish i were there now sitting in the parlor room in an old chair with the local paper and coffee enjoying the ambience.

This family run bed & breakfast is a true gem! Located in the heart of Gettysburg in a historic building with antique decore that transports you to a different era. They treat you like royalty with a delicious home cooked breakfast made to order. They accommodated my GF diet restrictions and offered delicious pastries.
My room was beautifully decorated, very clean and comfortable. They helped me with luggage since I stayed at the Eisenhower room on the 3rd floor of adjacent building. Parking was easy, convenient and free. I’ll be back on my next visit to Gettysburg!

We booked this one night stay at the end of our Kid-free trip and it didn’t disappoint. The owners were waiting for us, checked us and gave us a tour and history of the place. Room was amazing, location was right down town within walking distance of everything. Chocolate chip cookies were amazing. Breakfast was Devine. Can not say enough about this inn. The suite we stayed in was very nice. It was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The owners were very nice helpful. The inn is walkable to all the major shops and attractions in town. The included breakfast was excellent. Our only complaint was noise from the busy street (it was Bike Week), but this was no fault of the inn.

It is a beautiful property spread over many buildings. We were in an out building - 3 flights of stairs up! Be sure to check the location of your selected room to be sure you will be comfortable with climbing if necessary. It was not their fault. Didn't really read the room description well. Breakfasts were very nice, staff and owners very attentive. Will return -- just at another altitude, LOL

The staff was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The room was clean, even though a few signs of wear were evident here and there (due to the age of the building and some antique furnishings). The bathroom was nice, however, the shower could splash water out onto the floor. The amenities were good, although water bottles in the room would have been a nice touch. One of our new favorites! Our hosts were very accommodating and informative, as well as two of the nicest and hardest working people! Our room was adjacent to the main area which required us to walk a very short distance outside to go to breakfast, but was it ever worth it! A daily choice between 4 made-to-order dishes served with fresh fruit, coffee and juice. It was enough to keep us fueled for our long walks around the city until dinner. The Inn is convenient to the city proper and you can easily walk to many sites. Parking for the inn is a designated lot within a block of your accommodations.

Hmm, a well-worn claim. Got to sleep in a room that once housed Abe Lincoln (was a bar, I believe). Absolutely grand place to stay, and won't break your bank. Walking distance to heart of Gettysburg. Easy drive to all the must-see places. Avoid the chain-hotels, and enjoy some nostalgic life, meet some hosts that are dynamo's to their guests.

Service and breakfast excellent....street noise in Catherine's Cove could be a problem for light sleepers but you can close the bedroom door. Would suggest a diversion drain tube on AC unit so condensate does not drip on front threshold (and you as one goes in and out).

As this is an historic inn we didn’t expect it to have the “ease” of a modern hotel but nowhere in the description did it state there were very long flights of stairs to reach the rooms. The air conditioner was so loud it kept us up all night and the bed was very hard. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone with back or knee problems or walking issues. The innkeepers were very friendly and knowledgeable about Gettysburg. The breakfast was nice. Recommended for the young and adventurous. Beautiful location!!

Our stay was wonderful. The owner greeted us when we arrived and showed us around. What I really liked is that the hosts were gracious and welcoming, but I never felt crowded. The location is great, right in downtown Gettysburg. If you appreciate history, you'll love this! I was impressed that they kept the historic character of the place, but with plenty of modern comforts. There is a beautiful hidden garden courtyard at the rear of the property. Breakfast is included each morning, and everything we had was delicious. We'll definitely return!

The Brafferton Inn is a charming property sitting right in the heart of downtown Gettysburg and a few doors down from Lincoln Circle. Shops and restaurants are all within walking distance. The inn itself is historic and charming. Some rooms have fireplaces and some still have bullets in the walls from the battle. The parlor is accessible and coffee/tea are available 24/7. There's a lovely courtyard sitting area. You also feel very safe as both front door and back gates are locked and require a code to get in. Breakfast was delicious and you have a small menu to select from. There are several seating times so you're not limited to just one set time. I originally had a 3rd floor room but when Brian discovered that I had a lot of luggage as I was traveling for 3 weeks, he was a doll and switched me to a first floor room. This was my second time staying here while in Gettysburg. It's the perfect place.

This is a beautiful hotel and a very special place to stay. The building is one of the oldest in the area and has been lovingly restored by the owners. The furniture and have been specially chosen to take you back to the Civil War era and everything is in perfect condition. We were greeted by Joan who gave us a tour of the building and made us feel very welcome. Our room was a delight - the Battle Room - the bed and facilities very comfortable and clean. There is no TV in this room but who needs one in such an interesting place.
Breakfast is taken in a dining room which features a mural of the town's historic buildings. The tables were set and the food served beautifully. We started with a fruit salad and then had a choice of lovingly cooked meals.
During our stay we visited the Gettysburg battlefields. We would particularly recommend taking the tour of the national cemetery- our guide was very well informed and brought the history to life
Breakfast is taken in a dining room which features a mural of the town's historic buildings. The tables were set and the food served beautifully. We started with a fruit salad and then had a choice of lovingly cooked meals.
During our stay we visited the Gettysburg battlefields. We would particularly recommend taking the tour of the national cemetery- our guide was very well informed and brought the history to life

Beautiful place! The colonial decore added to the charm of this 18th century building. From the cookies and beverages in the study to the fabulous breakfast, this is THE place to stay when visiting Gettysburg! In addition, you get free parking and the perk of very friendly hosts!
That being said, you need to know that this building is on a very busy street and any room facing the street tends to be a bit noisy- due to constant traffic. Fortunately, the owners place earplugs on the nightstand, so you can enjoy a good night's sleep. They think of everything!
And if you are staying in the Old Master Room, you need to be aware of the fact that there is no toilet or shower in the room. You have a beautiful, spacious bathroom all to yourself, but it's a few steps down the hall...so be sure to bring pajamas!
