Great location! Hotel is walking distance to pretty much everything in the city. Initial rooms we checked in was very noisy and we quickly got moved to different room, which we appreciated.

We were happy with the room and service we received.

Hotel is pet friendly and we paid £35 for a pet however we had nothing provided, no pet bowls or treats. The pet bed provided to us stayed in the initial room. When hotel claims to be pet friendly and charges you a fee you’d expect more.

Room was lovely but was over £1300 for 2 nights so you expect it to be, Coffee and Tea facilities could be better, no labels to tell you which coffee pod was which for the machine so opted for a normal coffee only to find there was no normal coffee, only caffiene free.
Shower blocked 1st use, had to lay around 8 towels to soak up the flood in the bathroom, informed reception straight away at 9.50am , came back to relax at 3.30pm and make use of the gorgeous bath only to find no-one had been in to replace towels or clean up , very annoyed as this meant we couldnt make use of the bath at all as we were waiting for this to be sorted. Only other issue is breakfast takes far too long, booked in at 10am , had to wait until 10.25 and still nothing , Had to cancel our breakfast due to train time. So overall, not really the best service condiering the price paid.

We had a wonderful stay at the Abbey Hotel Bath. The location is unbeatable-right in the heart of the city and perfect for exploring all that Bath has to offer. The staff were absolutely amazing; friendly, welcoming, and incredibly helpful throughout our visit. One thing to note - soom rooms require the use of stairs, so if you mobility issues, it's worth checking with the hotel in advance to ensure a more accessible option. Overall, a charming stay with excellent service

You know when you walk into a hotel room and see a portable oscillating fan, a closed window and no thermostat for either cooling or heat you're in for a poor experience. My room was so uncomfortably hot it was hard to sleep. My friend was placed in an attic room whose ceiling was so low she could touch it. Her room, on the fifth floor, had no elevator access and only a tight circular staircase whose metal banister cut her thumb badly. To be charged $268 with no forewarning of either an unchangeably airless room or a room on a fifth floor with no elevator access that is fit only for hobbits is unconscionable and inexcusable. I don’t know what Marriott was thinking when it decided to fold this hotel into its collection… There is a big difference between the charm of a well-kept old hotel and an old hotel that I guess is getting by just because of its location. I will say that my bathroom was recently modernized, had great storage and was clean.

We booked a King Room at Abbey Hotel Bath through Expedia, advertised with proper in-room air conditioning. Instead, we were first placed in a basement room with no AC at all. After complaining, we were moved to a smaller standard room with only a portable unit venting through the window. It was noisy, ineffective, and nothing like what was promised.

This was misleading advertising. Expedia showed photos and descriptions of King Rooms with AC, yet we were downgraded and left uncomfortable. What made it worse is that Expedia offered no real help when we reported the issue. Both the hotel and Expedia failed to deliver what was advertised, and our trip was ruined. Guests should be cautious—what you see on Expedia may not be what you get.

Good side: well located in the city centre . The breakfast and afternoon tea were of very good quality. The catering staff were very friendly and helpful.

Bad side: very small rooms for our party (Room 206 and Room 208). On the first night we were checked into those tiny rooms with a small double bed pushed against the side wall with a window. I had to climb in and out of bed over my partner, disturbing all constantly. Besides, the room is so small that there is only about less than two meter space from the door to the bed. Upon our request we were offered another larger room for the second night, but the tiny room is not something you expect as a standard double room almost £200 per night.

Service Quality: very mixed bag. The catering staff were really smashing, However, our stay was almost ruined by one of the receptionists with a very unfriendly, cold and unhelpful attitude,

Staff was friendly and helpful! They do have a lift. Can’t get a better location!!! Well decorated, beds comfortable, floors a little wonky but it’s an old building. Would be my top choice to stay in Bath!

The hotel was very clean and staff was super friendly. The location was so perfect, very central to the Roman bathes and abbey hotel.
The only negative is parking was relatively far away, the rooms sometimes required stairs and was difficult to navigate for older people with baggage, and needing the key card for lights was confusing without instructions.
Overall, the stay was wonderful!! Definitely would recommend.

Dog Friendly

Stayed in room 001which we were pleasantly surprised was a very dog friendly room. Provided with a dog bed, bowl and a private, secure courtyard area for our pup to explore (and use) safely.

Lovely shower room. Bedding and towels (ours) top quality and fresh. However, the mattress on our bed was bloody awful. So uncomfortable, we barely slept. However, we were only there for one night, so being deprived of sleep for one night didn't detract from our lovely visit.

Would go back to the Abbey hotel. Staff were helpful and professional. But wouldn't stay in that room again (unless the mattress was changed)

Central Location in Bath

The Abbey Hotel is conveniently located in Bath, just at the start of the pedestrian area of the city, a few steps from the Roman Baths and Abbey.

Our room was comfortable, and we enjoyed the generous breakfast at a very reasonable price.

No air conditioning!!!! Our room was 30C by the time we checked out. Staff originally didn’t have Ben acknowledge the issue and just seemed to say it’s the norm! Don’t stay here in the summer! Zero compensation provided for no air conditioning!

Great place! 5 min walk from train station and prime location, close to coffee, shops, restaurants, and shopping. Room was spacious and clean, hotel was well-maintained for its age, and staff was super friendly. Would stay here again it would definitely recommend!

I rented four rooms for our family of eight. Two of the rooms were satisfactory, with nice decor and comfortable furnishings.

But our room got up to 80° during the night, and although someone at the front desk said they would reset the air conditioning, it did not help. They did bring us a second fan, but it was an uncomfortable night.

Even worse though, since our window was open about 3 inches (max) to allow some airflow, we were awakened to yelling/shrieking & zooming cars when a nightclub located just across the street closed at 4:30am! This is with 2 fans running along with my white noise app!

I notified the front desk of our unpleasant night so that at least the air conditioning problem could be addressed before the next guests checked in. But although the young ladies listened to my complaint, there was certainly no offer of anything that might make it up to us.

The breakfast was very nice with a good selection of made to order dishes, all of which was tasty and a good value.

The hotel cancelled my room abruptly on the same day because of maintenance issues with the room, and refused to provide assistance with getting to another hotel. I was left totally confused with the entire situation. The hotel receptionist Maria was rude and arrogant and was not at all empathetic with the situation even though the hotel was the one who created the entire situation by kicking us out of our reservation on the same day. Thankfully Expedia was helpful with getting us compensation.

The first room assigned did not have air conditioning the second room was in the basement next to a high school prom that kept my son and I up until 1 am. My parents room had twin sheets on a king bed so they could not get a good nights sleep missing remote and very loud with people parting all night long. Parking does not exist Southgate car park is much further away than advertised traffic around the hotel is terrible. Hotel was pricier definitely not worth the money the location when there was great however

For the exorbitant price I expected much better. It is important to know this is an historic property with multiple buildings and you may have to walk outdoors in weather to get to your building/to the main dining etc. Also with old buildings come musty smells. Our room absolutely reeked of mildew and even the linens felt damp. It was in a basement with very little natural light. When I complained of the intense mildew smell I was offered a smaller room/smaller bed/cheaper rate, but that’s not why we booked this hotel. No discount was offered for the inconvenience and irritation of the odor. The room was comfy and generally clean overall. Strange art was of all women whose faces had been scratched out or covered in paint. Odd vibes. The breakfast was only mid-level. Frozen fruit defrosted, tesco-like bread and pastries. Just very basic for £24 and I’ve had better at small hotels. Not at all what I expected at Marriott Bonvoy. I don’t think I would stay here again. Not for the price and average service. Though it is very well located.

The hotel's room wasn't worsed the money what we are paying. The towels were rather gray than white.The window in the bathroom was dirty and sink was leaking.In my opinion the price for the room is too high.

Perfect Location

Perfect location for exploring Bath, nice rooms, good facilities and a great breakfast.

Mid-week, off-season pricing also made it decent value.

The only downside was with a front-facing room, revelry outside in the early hours disturbed our sleep.
