As a solo traveler, the room itself was adequate in size for sleeping on a raised floor with mattress and limited luggage/backpack storage space. Have a shared shower, toilet, laundry area to use and a common area on main floor to eat and microwave food. The hotel staff were friendly and there was a wall of tourist information (where to go, how to get there and some context for the destination). The keycard could be put in a lanyard provided for safe keeping and loungewear/towels were provided daily. The showers were clean and come with body wash and shampoo only.

As a solo female traveller, this accomodation was excellent. This hotel is located just a few steps from the Nishiki market and is very walkable to nearby shops and the metro. The amenities were great for the price and the staff was incredibly helpful with any questions I had. They also will hold your luggage/bags before and after checkout if needed. I felt safe and comfortable here. If I were to travel solo and if i had a tight budget again, I would choose the Pocket Hotel in Kyoto.

I really loved this spot! It was close to a lot of stuff or in easy walking distance. I think the room was perfect for a solo traveler and as a solo female traveler I felt safe in the hotel and area!

A modern, well thought out hotel experience. Good bathing facilities and well-kept shared bathrooms made for a pleasant experience. The room was spacious enough to get changed and hang clothes, and the bed was perfectly adequate.
The only real concern was the noise made by other guests in the halls late in the evenings which was not taken care of by the staff. Normal noise would be fine, but running up and down shouting shouldn't be acceptable.

The location is superb; situated in the modern side of Kyoto but old Kyoto can be reached in less than 10 min of walking. The room was surprisingly spacious; it was clean, private and secured with lock. The bathroom and laundry facilities were convenient. The staff were nice and helpful. We have booked a private room with a private bathroom but we got a private room with a shared bathroom, the hotel was willing to refund us even though the room itself was non refundable, but we haven't be able to find a room within our budget so we decided to stay. Overall the stay was good and the shared bathroom wasn't busy most of the times.

Pocket hotel was better than expected. Friendly staff, great location and neat little rooms. The main communal shower area is awkwardly located on first floor at reception but actual facilities were great.

This hotel is really well situated in Kyoto, very close to the Nishiki Market (it's just up the street) and within walking distance to Nijo-jo Castle, the Manga Museum, Kiymizudera, the Higashiyama district, and Gion district. It's also walkable to a few subway stops, including to the Keihan line, which takes you out to Fushimi Inari Shrine. We also really appreciated the Starbuck's on the corner for a quick coffee in the morning. The hotel rooms are small of course, but comfortable and the bathroom and shower spaces felt modern and clean. The wifi was stable and easy to access. My 13-year old daughter loved the vibe, which felt a bit hipster (she loved the hotel lounge wear) but also offered us enough space to keep our suitcases in our room and chill out on our little pocket beds.

An amazing budget hotel with high tech rooms
An amazing hotel nearby many tourist spots. What a bargain for the price we paid! The quality we received is so high that we decided to stay at the hotel twice during our time in Japan. The shower room is amazing, the fluffy blankets and not to mention, the free sleep wear they let us use was so so convenient! We love everything about it except the fact that their check out time is 10AM (non early bird beware!) and their check in time is solidly after 4PM. If you have an early arrival, be ready to roam around the hotel area with your jetlag and/or minor headache. They let you place your bags there for free though so that’ll ease the pain a little bit. Thank you pocket hotel! We’ll be back.

I would highly recommend this budget accommodation to any of my friends going to kyoto. It was very comfortable and convenient.
This hotel has a great little luggage minding room. You can lock up your luggage whilst you wait for check-in in the very comfortable foyer, or start exploring. And the lock up system is free to use.
The rooms are clean, the beds comfortable, and the amount of space is good, especially if you neatly arrange your luggage.
They have towels and pajamas for you to borrow for free at your leisure.
The bathrooms are very clean and large. I wouldn't rely on using their all-in-one bodywash/shampoo or face/hand wash. They're not bad, but you will still need your own face wash and conditioner at least, so bring your own toiletries.
The location us excellent! A 2 minute walk from Nishiki Market, next to starbucks, and close to the station.
My only negative about this place is the washer/drier machines. My sister and I tried to quickly do a load of washing after we arrived. The washing cycle was fine but the drier was useless. I eventually asked the staff and they pointed out a section on one of the signs that said 1 hour per kilo. You can only pay in 15 minute intervals so it was very irritating and time consuming. I ended up borrowing a clothes horse to get my clothes dry. I would find a laundromat if you want to use a drier for your laundry.

The bathrooms are very clean and large. I wouldn't rely on using their all-in-one bodywash/shampoo or face/hand wash. They're not bad, but you will still need your own face wash and conditioner at least, so bring your own toiletries.
The location us excellent! A 2 minute walk from Nishiki Market, next to starbucks, and close to the station.
My only negative about this place is the washer/drier machines. My sister and I tried to quickly do a load of washing after we arrived. The washing cycle was fine but the drier was useless. I eventually asked the staff and they pointed out a section on one of the signs that said 1 hour per kilo. You can only pay in 15 minute intervals so it was very irritating and time consuming. I ended up borrowing a clothes horse to get my clothes dry. I would find a laundromat if you want to use a drier for your laundry.

Wasn't sure what to expect @ a pocket hotel, but it was very clean, given they had just opened, and once I got used to the idea, it was fine.
Great location for getting around Kyoto, it had a nice common area with wifi/charging stations downstairs, but common showers only available downstairs, or on women only floor on 3rd floor, was somewhat inconvenient/far to go for a shower.
- Would recommend they have towels on for the 3rd floor showers, on the 3rd floor, or let people know at check-in that there are no towels on 3rd floor, so they can take up to room.
- Didn't like having to go downstairs, near check-in area/lobby to shower, then go up to room, but showers were clean and relatively uncrowded.
- Would recommend shower slippers, for those who are uncomfortable with standing barefooted in a shower others have been in.
