The room was nice, but there were quite a lot of stains on the soft furnishings like sofas, chairs, ottoman etc… the room had a lot of issues, lots of lights didn’t work, only have of the ceiling lights worked, none of the lamps worked, neither of the bedside lights worked which was a real inconvenience. The tv didn’t connect to the internet, the wired connection didn’t work and it couldn’t connect to free WiFi. The bedding, both pillows and duvet had black marks on it and the bath was dirty. We were only staying for one night so it wasn’t too bad, but for a penthouse I was expecting a lot more. We are planning another trip back to the city at the end of the month and we are now having to look at other places to stay due to the disappointment. Staff were great though and very friendly.

Really good central location and easy to access parking.

Staff were friendly and attentive. We made use of the pool which was clean and quiet at the time we used it.

We were upgraded to the presidential suite on arrival which was spacious and had a great view of the river.

There was some noise throughout the night from the main road which runs alongside the hotel, I would imagine this gets less on the higher up floors and is an unavoidable factor of staying in a central location,

Staff were amazing and friendly but the room itself was quite dated and grotty. The bathroom bin hadn't been emptied and we found a previous guest's sock that had been left on the floor. Clearly the rooms are not throughly cleaned and for the price you'd expect better, especially when there are other fantastic hotels in the area for the same price or even cheaper. First time staying here, probably will be my last.

This hotel is undergoing renovation works & this was made clear when booking. The room was large & clean. The hotel is well-positioned overlooking the River Foyle. There is a car park beneath, which was pretty empty during our stay.
We booked an accessible room on Sunday 14th- 16th June 26. Within seconds of entering our room, we called reception to ask for a move. Our room was very dark with a side view of the river, we had no air-con & a window which only opened a couple of inches. The lighting wasn't great, so it was hard for us to read our books. Basics like the mattress & pillows were poor quality. We were surprised by this, as it is a 4* hotel. The room & bathroom were very tired.
The receptionist we spoke to put us on hold for some time & then said the hotel was fully booked. We were surprised by this, as the car park was empty. A google search showed rooms available both nights. This was the most expensive hotel bill during our trip to the North of Ireland. It was not great value for money. We had to prop a lamp on a chair next to the bed to read at night. It was uncomfortable - airless & hot with poking mattress springs.
The receptionist at check out was very helpful. She listened to the feedback about our poor experience. She explained that upgrading works were ongoing & that all rooms will have aircon. She offered us a free upgrade when we return to Derry next year & because of her empathic approach & apology, we will accept and give this hotel another try.

Great location, close to everything you will want to see, we will definitely stay again. Good parking in the basement of the hotel even though we drove past the entrance 🙃. Public car parking next door and you get a reduced rate anyway.

Staff are excellent couldn’t be more helpful. We enjoyed the entertainment on both weekend nights. Hotel is in real need of a complete overhaul and that’s already in progress. It’s a huge property and that’s going to take some time. It is right on the river and the view is lovely while you enjoy a coffee in the lounge.

Our bedroom was lovely, decent shower and good breakfast.

I didn’t realise they were renovating until last min, my room had seen better times and was soulless, reception, bar and dining room all moved to 2nd floor to the ballroom, you can have a drink and watch people eat, not good ! Had breakfast, was like dining in a canteen. Continental selection woefully poor. City hotel is certainly not 4 star at this present time. Staff do not look happy and lacked interaction

The hotel is under refurbishment (however it has halted and 3 years in no work was being undertaken during our stay). The room was a family room (as I was travelling with my daughter and grand daughter) and can only be described as grubby...the walls and the furniture both dirty. The bathroom skirting dirty with dust. In the recent heat we were provided with a totally inadequate fan, replaced after a conversation with the manager. In fairness he understood our disappointment with the \"surprise\" of the refurbishment. However the tired and worn state of everything is unacceptable if you are still \"open for business\" during this lengthy refurbishment. The lift mirrors were scratched, the furniture in the temporary bar area dirty and worn.
We chose not to eat breakfast in the hotel so can't comment on it. We did have an evening meal (complimentary) and we all enjoyed it very much. We did not require parking so cannot comment on that.
My overall impression was of disappointment. Having stayed in The City previously it was my immediate choice. However had I been informed when booking that a refurbishment was underway I would have chosen to book elsewhere in this occasion.

The location of this hotel and view of the Foyle and Peace Bridge are second to none. The hotel is clearly in a state of transition with DoubleTree taking over, and renovations of the lobby happening. Many aspects of the hotel truly need the renovation; rooms, beds, bathrooms, the pool/hot-tub (which clearly has not been working in a very long time), to list a few. However, the staff are just amazing and the location and 'bones' have a lot to offer. Gym amenities also excellent. I think if they keep some of the charm and character, and do a proper renovation, it could easily be an excellent hotel again.

Old yellowed tub with a dodgey shower head over it with varying water temp. Rooms dont have air con and are not well ventilated so felt like a sweat box (in april so id avoid in summer at all costs). Sand papery bedding and the thinnest pillows known to man. Ive no idea what theyre doing this last year...but the whole place needs torn out and redone.

The hotel is suppose to be under refurbishment, it seems to have stopped for some reason. We called in to this hotel last easter for a drink and seen that it was getting a big refurb, so booked for this Easter 2026 arrived to the shock of, You park in the underground car park and get to reception and then asked for 28 pounds for 2 nights parking at the hotel, total extortionate price, as now the Adjoining underground carpark is
privately owned by some other company.Always was free just adds a big chunk onto your Easter break. The hotel is very run down in all areas,it once was a very pleasent hotel, and we hope it will return this way someday, but we wont unfortunately be back to stay here as you have far nicer hotels for around the same price, also without the rip off car parking price. We will say the breakfast was very nice. But sadly a shadow of the hotel that it used to be .

Security of the hotel was extremely lax. The main reception was closed due to refurbishment entry via parking underground garage which anyone could access which meant anyone could access the floors to the bedrooms. Only redeeming featuree were the staff in the breakfast room who were helpful and friendly with a smile. Overpriced and not what one would expect for a Hilton Hotel.

Less than impressed.

Food was okay, dining table rocked as we ate. We went to get our cooked breakfast and our cups etc were lifted and we returned to a virtually empty table.
On reading the description of the hotel before booking we were led to believe that all other rooms except for the ground floor had been redecorated. We had stayed at the hotel about 8 years ago and it was in need of redecoration then and other than new wallpaper on one wall, the furniture had remained unchanged since then.
The service was quite chaotic and we do feel that while these renovations are ongoing the price of the stay should be much cheaper.
Parking your car in the basement (which is now the level of the temporary entrance to the hotel) is now £14.00 overnight as the receptionist told us on check in, although we had wondered why there were so many empty spaces. The basement carpark has now been bought over by a private company.
Hilton you definitely need to make vast changes for us to stay here again!!!

The hotel is being renovated which we didn’t know about until we arrived. We had to go through the basement car park to get to the reception desk. The room was shabby and very dated. Tea/coffee facilities consisted of one breakfast tea teabag, two green tea teabags , no coffee and no milk. Breakfast the following morning was very poor….. very little selection and shabby dining room.
Overall our stay was dreadful.

Great Stay

Hotel is currently undergoing refurbishment but our experience was a good one. Staff were very helpful to store our bags before check-in. Our room 701 on the top floor was in good condition, spacious and quiet. The air-con was working, if a little noisy, and we had a great view over Derry. I’m sure when complete this will be an excellent hotel.
