The location of this hotel and view of the Foyle and Peace Bridge are second to none. The hotel is clearly in a state of transition with DoubleTree taking over, and renovations of the lobby happening. Many aspects of the hotel truly need the renovation; rooms, beds, bathrooms, the pool/hot-tub (which clearly has not been working in a very long time), to list a few. However, the staff are just amazing and the location and 'bones' have a lot to offer. Gym amenities also excellent. I think if they keep some of the charm and character, and do a proper renovation, it could easily be an excellent hotel again.

The location of the hotel and room size were amazing! Jacuzzi was out of order when we were there, and needed a swimming cap for the pool so we couldn't use them. The bathroom was nice, but the shower curtain does cling to you a bit. Overall pretty nice but not perfect.

Fantastic location right in the centre of Derry. Our family room was huge and plenty of space for the 3 of us. Although there was renovation happening we honestly didn't notice anything. The leisure facilities were excellent. Others have noted the parking charges, so thanks to that we parked on the road just outside Ebrington Square for free and just walked across the Peace Bridge.

Literally the only thing going for this place is the location. Its basically a building site for over a year yet the rooms are DATED heavilly. Old yellowed tub with a dodgey shower head over it with varying water temp. Rooms dont have air con and are not well ventilated so felt like a sweat box (in april so id avoid in summer at all costs). Sand papery bedding and the thinnest pillows known to man. Ive no idea what theyre doing this last year...but the whole place needs torn out and redone.

The hotel is suppose to be under refurbishment, it seems to have stopped for some reason.We called in to this hotel last easter for a drink and seen that it was getting a big refurb, so booked for this Easter 2026 arrived to the shock of, You park in the underground car park and get to reception and then asked for 28 pounds for 2 nights parking at the hotel, total extortionate price, as now the Adjoining underground carpark is
privately owned by some other company.Always was free just adds a big chunk onto your Easter break. The hotel is very run down in all areas,it once was a very pleasent hotel, and we hope it will return this way someday, but we wont unfortunately be back to stay here as you have far nicer hotels for around the same price, also without the rip off car parking price. We will say the breakfast was very nice. But sadly a shadow of the hotel that it used to be .

Room felt dirty. Sparsely furnished. Booked a superior double was very inferior. The onky good point was the view. Reception staff were not particularly welcoming on arrival. Security of the hotel was extremely lax. The main reception was closed due to refurbishment entry via parking underground garage which anyone could access which meant anyone could access the floors to the bedrooms. Only redeeming featuree were the staff in the breakfast room who were helpful and friendly with a smile. Overpriced and not what one would expect for a Hilton Hotel.

15 mins waiting to check in/check out, one barmen at night time, only way in and out of hotel is via basement carpark.
2 small lifts had to be used by every person wanting to get in or out/go to carpark which resulted in crowded lifts and up to 10 minutes waiting for the lift.
Food wasn’t great (at one point the waiter didn’t know if he was bringing cod or chicken gougons so picked it up from the plate to check what it was)
Had to change rooms as first room was filthy - stains on the walls, leaking shower, blood spots on bathroom door frame)
Hotel guests also have to pay £14 per night for underground carpark which wassmall

On arrival was not told that building work would be starting at 4am a notice was put through door after checking in when requested a table for dinner was told they couldn’t give us one and offer bar snacks instead which I didn’t think was exceptional if had of known this we wouldn’t of stayed outside the building was discusting and then was charged for parking I don’t expect to stay in an hotel and have to leave for something to eat but we went to Madeline palace and the staff and food was exceptional I would not recommend this hotel to anyone

We were allocated a disabled room which was not what was booked through Hotel's. com. We were also lead to believe that the underground car park was included in the price as was the case when I stayed here before on several occasion,in stead we had to pay an additional fee. Hotel is in great location and was very clean, unfortunately it os dated and in need of updating/a refresh. Beds weren't very confortable and there was a lot of noise during the night from other residents shouting in the hallways for prolonged amounts of time. Staff at reception and breakfast were very good, helpful and polite. Breakfast quality wasn't great but view was lovely. Leisure faciliies were tired - pool cold and jacuzzi disappointingly not open.

City Hotel Derry-in need of an upgrade.

According to some of our party the Guiness was poor.The room we stayed in was in dire need of an update and the absence of a fridge was disappointing particularly given the price of the room.The dinner on the Saturday night was very good and the waiting staff were very professional.

Food was okay, dining table rocked as we ate. We went to get our cooked breakfast and our cups etc were lifted and we returned to a virtually empty table.
On reading the description of the hotel before booking we were led to believe that all other rooms except for the ground floor had been redecorated. We had stayed at the hotel about 8 years ago and it was in need of redecoration then and other than new wallpaper on one wall, the furniture had remained unchanged since then.
The service was quite chaotic and we do feel that while these renovations are ongoing the price of the stay should be much cheaper.
Parking your car in the basement (which is now the level of the temporary entrance to the hotel) is now £14.00 overnight as the receptionist told us on check in, although we had wondered why there were so many empty spaces. The basement carpark has now been bought over by a private company.
Hilton you definitely need to make vast changes for us to stay here again!!!

The staff are fantastic and very helpful, I personally feel bad that they have to work under that kind of condition, and having minimum resources to accommodate guests' simple requests

While the accessible bedroom was very good; generally the hotel felt uncomfortable in its “renovating” state; staff were accommodating espec. Reception on Floor 1 there was a nice view of the River + Peace Bridge in Dining Room and there was a good enough selection at Breakfast; cost for 3 night stay did not reflect the inconvenience.

We were disappointed with our stay here. It's certainly not a 4 star hitel as advertised. I know there are renovations taking place but this has been months. We had to enter through basememt carpark. No stair option so no way into the hotel unless you take the lift. You had to wait ages for lifts. Room was very dark, lighting very poor which made it very hard to do make up. Sheets were stained. Blind rail was hanging off the window. Tv didnt work. Paint was falling of the ceiling into the swimming pool. Trying to get the attention of someone to be seated for breakfast was impossible. They kept walking by. We just sat ourselves in the end. Plates werent lifted between courses. Just wasnt a great experience. Plus side, location is excellent

Booked three rooms for a family trip - shortly after receiving my confirmation I received a separate email from the hotel advising that the ongoing work at the hotel meant that they had a temporary reception, bar area etc on the first floor and that the only access to the hotel was via the underground car park. If I had known this before I would not have made the booking. The hotel refused to cancel the booking. The place is a mess due to the ongoing work - really not happy with the situation.

The hotel is under refurbishment and this is definitely needed. Rooms are very old, furniture has the wear and tear of 20+ yrs of use. Window wouldn't shut properly and could hear traffic at night, room www visibly dirty, condiments not replenished daily on a 3 night stay. Bed and pillows were not good, pool area needs total redoing. Would have raised a far bigger issue if we had been in the hotel much but luckily was a tourist trip.
When I did raise at checkout was really noted just a \"sorry that's a pity\"

The hotel is being renovated which we didn’t know about until we arrived. We had to go through the basement car park to get to the reception desk. The room was shabby and very dated. Tea/coffee facilities consisted of one breakfast tea teabag, two green tea teabags , no coffee and no milk. Breakfast the following morning was very poor….. very little selection and shabby dining room.
Overall our stay was dreadful.

Hotel is under construction. No access to lobby except through parking garage. Breakfast dining facilities were relocated to a conference room. Rooms do not have AC (disabled) and the rooms get hot. They provide a fan, but the window to the outside opens only a crack due to safety cord. Terrible nights sleep with stuffy heat in the room and road noise and loud drunks in the late evening. Food service was questionable. Rooms were not consistently stocked. 3 couples had varied amenities or lack there of on the same floor. If the hotel is going to be in a remodeling a discount should be offered for those staying in the old rooms and putting up with the many inconveniences. Definitely not as represented in the offering.

Fantastic location very close to city walls and beside the river. Hotel was undergoing renovation in June 2025 as it is becoming a Hilton property. This was my second stay in 7 years and I hope the friendliness and reasonable pricing does not change. Parking is under the hotel in a very well hidden and small area. If you get a spot you will not want to move until check out. Parking an SUV would be quite a challenge. I hope to come back to this hotel one day.

This property is undergoing an extensive renovation however, there is no excuse for dirty cutlery and no attempt to replace when pointed out. Also coffee brought no milk no condiments on the table. Waitress just seem disinterested. I know it’s going through a refurb but they could try and show a bit of warmth to guests. Also bar service quite slow and no urgency to serve waiting guests. Should be transparent on £14 parking fee when making booking.

We stayed 1 night when in Derry for a wedding. The hotel is extremely dated, although undergoing renovations as recently taken over by Hilton’s Doubletree brand.

Our room was large and served its purpose but overall not terribly soundproof leading to a disturbed nights sleep from children being left to run wild up and down the corridor. Contributing to the poor nights sleep was the uncomfortable bed and pillows.

Breakfast was a good offering in a room that will be lovely once renovated.
