We arrived well before the check-in time and the receptionist was very friendly and amenable. It took ten minutes and our rooms were ready and we could check in. The room was lovely, massive and very clean. The bed was comfortable and the sheets, duvet, pillows were all very clean. There was a good choice for breakfast. All staff were very helpful. The grounds are lovely. I would definitely come here again.
Eileen
The staff were very helpful especially Amy I had a nice time. The bar food was excellent. Would recommend the hotel.
Raymond
What a friendly hotel, with large rooms, good amenities and an excellent bar with good food and plenty of Irish charm and atmosphere.
Ivo

all I needed for work stay - including amazing beaches

Overall, the hotel was excellent. Some things a bit dated but very comfortable just the same. Great staff, a decent couple of bars and a very good breakfast. My only disappointment was the restaurant food quality didn’t match that of the hotel. My main course was tasty but almost cold, my wife’s meal was almost under cooked - the chips were hot but raw!
The hotel maintenance guy needs to fix the little things - like a loose toilet seat and grubby bath seals around the tiles. Would I go back … yes!

The staff were ok, 6 out of 10, apart from Amy, behind the desk; exceptional, should have her salary doubled, unrivalled attention to detail, and such a welcoming smile.
JOSEPH
Helpful, friendly staff!
Brian
Really enjoyed my stay. The training hotel has always been a freat place to say. Very well located and staff are awesome. Highly recommend a stay
Tracy
A great hotel chosen for its close location to Griannan Aileach. Large room, comfy bed, very quiet - good nights sleep. Friendly staff at reception, bar & restaurant. Very tasty food in hotel bar & great Guiness. Breakfast also excellent - eaten in a wonderful old church, converted into a museum/restaurant. Nothing to fault - highly recommend.
Thomas
Stayed just one night. Room was nice - clean and comfortable. Parking on site was convenient. We did eat dinner at the restaurant. Food was not very impressive. Breakfast area in the old church was beautiful and the food was reasonably good. Staff was very nice.
Suzanne
Our stay at the An Grianan is always perfect & that is why it remains our favourite hotel. Claire on reception was there to great us with her lovely smile & Dessie the barman caught up with our travels. Food excellent as always & very good value & a good night's sleep in their comfortable beds.
Elizabeth
The front desk manager was very helpful and friendly and we liked our room very much, room 109. The bed was comfy and the shower had good pressure.

Hotel is wonderful. Parking adjacent to the property. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Room was lovely and clean and very nicely furnished. The food was exceptional and large portions. Can’t think of any improvements needed.

Everything in the An Grianan is spotless, great food & staff go above & beyond. I was unfortunately sick during my stay & they were happy to serve breakfast in my room. I couldn't avail of this cos I'm full of the cold, but it was such a thoughtful gesture. It's or favourite hotel.

The room was clean, the beds were a little too firm for our liking but that’s ok, the bathroom could've definitely use a deep clean. Staff was friendly.

Lovely hotel , lovely staff .
Martha
I have stayed in An Grianan before. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was lovely. The receptionist on duty the night we stayed was very helpful and so pleasant and ordered a taxi for us to go to the place where we were attending that evening. The only negative was that there were children running about the corridor on our floor and they were making alot of noise which was annoying but thankfully when we returned from our night out there was no noise.
William
We stayed there before. Convenient for us as we were heading south.
Heather

Kathleen
The internet wasn't working which was very inconvenient as I couldn't WhatsApp my family .Also I had asked if I could be informed when it was available ,which I wasn't and it was unavailable the entire visit. The cooked breakfast was cold and lukewarm at best and the poached egg ,I had to return as it was so hard I could hit it on a wall.Very disappointed.

Lovely hotel. Room size was great. Clean, comfy, with historic flair. Free breakfast was an added bonus. Only complaint was the room was stuffy and warm. Was able to request a fan from the front desk though. It was a warm day in Ireland.

Favourite hotel
An Grianan is our favourite hotel. Everyone is so friendly & helpful, from Siobhan's greeting at check in to Dessie in the bar. Food delicious as always, we will be back again in October.

All staff encountered were friendly and approachable. They went out of their way to accommodate any requests and nothing was too much trouble. Food and service in the Fort Bar was exceptional and not overly expensive in comparison to other places.

Julie
It’s a lovely hotel with spacious rooms and a fantastic Irish breakfast in the beautiful converted church. A little gem of a hotel.
Sean
Excellent staff and beautiful food. Hotel is halfway between Derry and Letterkenny so car or other transport is required for getting around. Inishowen peninsula is a must for spectacular views and scenery.

Pros: Very clean. Staff are very friendly. Easy parking. 12p checkout helps if rest is needed.
Cons: Noisy when events are going on. No control over AC. Mattress is a bit too firm. Breakfast was not very good. Would have appreciated drinking water in the rooms.

This hotel provides wonderful service at a terrific price, for this standard of service and comfort we would usually pay twice the price.

My wife and I had a 2 night stay very pleasant receptionist guick check in room was clean and roomy but a disappointing view from are ground floor window ( six foot from a high banked hedge) breakfast very nice plenty of choice and a good cooked Irish but the coffee was terrible we had a few drinks in the bar on a Saturday night and the entertainment was excellent on the Sunday evening we had a meal it was nice but look warm overall we enjoyed our time but on fortunately wouldn’t stay there again as it is not in walking distance to anywhere
Jacqueline

Wonderful other than ground floor room
Wonderful staff and great hotel but, I don’t recommend the ground floor as we got a room that was essentially below level with the ground way above, no air conditioning and the window opened to mosquitoes and bugs, mold and dank.
Jeffrey
This is a nice hotel. Our only issue was that it was hot in the room (unusually warm day in May), and there was no AC. Likely would not be an issue most times. There were two weddings receptions going on when we arrived, and it seemed the restaurant staff may have been involved in that, so we ended up going back out to grab dinner. Beautiful place though.
John
Very nice rooms but hard to manage room temperature. Very good breakfast (included) and hearty dinner menu. Friendly staff. Quiet.
James
Booked it last minute… great location and would revisit
Liam
Enjoyed our stay very much.
Lovely staff and great food .
Good location and spacious, comfortable bedrooms.
Only gripe was the hairdryer which was fed up through the drawer and even when seated , which was necessary,it was way to short in reach .
Have stayed in this hotel Many times in the past and never encountered a problem like this.
Hopefully the hotel will take this criticism on board.

Super hotel.
Beautiful hotel set in scenic area of Donegal. Fantastic staff. Very comfortable hotel. Great food. Great location for touring Donegal and Derry.

Definitely wouldn’t recommend
I called & requested handicap accessible. I was told that they would accommodate. Entry was difficult due to the heavy doors. The bathroom had a bathtub instead of shower. The wheelchair barely fit in the tiny room and didn’t even fit on either side of bed nor between them. They gave us another room through three sets of heavy fire doors way at the end. It did have a shower but still no room for chair. I had to move beds to fit wheelchair. The room was freezing cold. Heat is on a timer so they did an override but it still took forever to warm up. I got a rude response to my complaint. so we went to dine. Service was very good but the over priced chicken tenders & chicken sandwich left a bit to be desired. The only good thing was the breakfast. Overall I wouldn’t recommend. We cut our stay short and moved to the Clanree in Letterkenny. 100% better & less expensive.
Thomas

Perfect spot for a 2 night visit to visit family in Fahan, gorgeous comfy bed, deep soak bath which was bliss after long days, welcoming staff, good food, room service for those nights when you're too tired to leave the room.
Perfect stay & if I was exploring its a great spot between Derry, Inishowen Penisula, Letterkenny and at the bottom of AnGrianan with the most spectacular views.

Lovely staff and rooms
Very helpful people in a beautiful place just beside an Grianan ancient fort. Dinner was good and breakfast too. I have to mention the very helpful staff member who fetched a bucket of hot water for us to thaw the windows in our jeeps before we left on an icy morning. Out of the goodness of his heart and genuinely nice!!

Fantastic hotel

This property is right off the highway - for travelers from Ireland to Northern Ireland (UK) so there's not much around the property. The property is clean, well-appointed, nice bathroom and safe and oriented to traditional business and leisure travelers. Breakfast was included, asking with tea and instant coffee and some biscuits in the room. However, I've noticed that the good hotels seem to put those with the reasonable Expedia rates on the first floor or less desirable locations - likely customers paying higher rates are placed in more desirable room locations. This room had a must smell on one side (I'm very sensitive to that) but I slept well in any case.
Gino
Staff are lovely and take great care to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. We arrived extremely late and they made sure we had everything we needed. Super friendly service.
