The Inishowen Gateway is a very pleasant spot to stay, with friendly staff; comfortable and quiet rooms; an atmospheric bar; and a well appointed leisure centre, with indoor swimming pool and well equipped gym.

The location is not too far from the town centre, the food is tasty, and the overall ambience is one of easy relaxation.

Hotel staff and facilities were perfect definitely recommended, only issue we had was the loud people from the bar walking past our room and slamming the wooden double doors that were situated outside our room. It was quite loud hearing them coming back from the bar shouting and talking and didn’t stop until 0130. Hotel etc was great though

Room was good - clean, comfortable bed, plenty of room for clothes. A small fridge would have been good.
Bathroom clean, decent size only let down was the shower, no power and only warm in the morning not hot.
Nice pool, sauna and steam room.
Food was really good with big menu choice, breakfast buffet could add potato bread or hash browns.

Do hotels not know it is the winter time! We told the fellow at reception our room was freezing on checking in. He said the room warms up from check in. We were not back in room until bedtime around 11pm and the room was so cold! Informed him again. It was that cold we had to take quilt of the single bed in the room and put it in our bed also. You could not have showered in the morning as no heater in bathroom at all and no blind on window, it was so cold! As we sat in bar downstairs we could also hear other ones saying how cold it was, this is not good enough when paying for a room and it is freezing. Our first time here and probably last. Dishes for breakfast in morning were also noticeably not clean.. couldn’t wait to get home, don’t rate stay here at all,,, very disappointing spending this money for a night away for my husbands birthday. Not nice at all.

Great hotel got married there 37yrs ago been going there every year and was disappointed with the fact that they have shut the main bar which was at the centre of the hotel the heart of the hotel and drew you in when you entered the hotel and they have instead opened up the bar at the back of hotel to replace it, this new bar has no atmosphere at all you can't really relax in it as it feels like I'm sitting at an airport terminal waiting to board a flight to Spain thats never coming. The foyer is now dead and uninviting due to the main bars closure, if it wasn't for reception I'd have thought the hotel closed. Also glass of pino at the bar tastes cheap and vingery also noticed desert portion has been halved from last visits. This hotel has amazing staff and the rooms are spotless modern luxurious just a pity about the bar which I might add had no sea views which the original bar did and is one of the main reasons I would book its one off their main selling point and I feel a bit cheated to left staring at the the main busy road instead of the relaxing view.

Definitely would return, but will bring a pillow.

Stayed there for 2 nights and the service was great. It was my partner's birthday and they made a lovely gesture to celebrate. Thank you.
The breakfast was particularly good!!
Lots of choice and lots of it. The location was fantastic, with great walks and such a handy base for exploring the peninsula.
Only marking it down slightly for not firm enough pillows and a slight weird smell when we first entered out room each time.
The pool and sauna facilities were top notch and overall we would very happily come back.

Lost its ambiance. Guests now denied entry to the Loughview bar. The heart and soul of the hotel. The Swilly bar for guests affords a view of the carpark. The selling point, spectacular view, is inaccessible unless you pay for sea view room or are dining. This will impact upon the hotel’s regular returning clients.

Not worth the trip

We stayed here recently for a special occasion and unfortunately our experience was extremely disappointing. The hotel felt musty, and both my partner and I had sinus issues at night. Our baby also coughed throughout the nights, which was very concerning.

On arrival after 9pm, we were shocked to find that the cot for our baby was not in the room, even though this had been requested and confirmed by the hotel. It was brought up quickly when we asked, but I was initially told to make it up myself while holding a screaming baby. When I questioned this, a staff member reluctantly offered to do it but admitted he didn’t know how. He proceeded to make a very unsafe bed, ignoring my instructions that it only needed a sheet on the base. In the end, I had to ask him to leave and make the cot myself while my baby cried.

Overall, our stay was uncomfortable, stressful, and absolutely not worth the money. What should have been a special occasion was completely ruined. I cannot recommend this hotel and will not be returning.

Needs a bit of TLC

This hotel has potential. The steam room was dangerous. The noise coming from an exposed pipe.
The carpet throughout the hotel needs deep clean or replaced. The staff through the hotel were very welcoming and civil. The best point of the hotel was the breakfast. Buffet style and well maintained with the best choice and nurishing food.

Was just fabulous, a fantastic stay from start to finish.
Added extra of a fabulous wellbeing spa and golf course directly behind the hotel on the coast.
Lovely bar/restaurant with live music.

I cannot fault anything about my stay. I arrived 29th May checked in after 4pm the girl at reception couldn’t be more helpful! She’s a credit to the hotel honestly

Everything was fine in general except for theeal purchased in the bar, I ordered chick stack which literally was one piece of chicken, that's fine and usual in most places, one onion ring and the smallest amount of champ I've seen on a restaurant meal, two of the cheapest ingredients in the meal that could have made a big difference had they increased the portion of champ and maybe another one or two onion rings. I wouldn't even give it a one star for this reason.

Very impressed with stay. Our room was clean and very spacious, it was also very quiet. We enjoyed breakfast and found all staff that we encountered were very friendly. Parts of the hotel could do with updating but this didn’t take away from the overall experience.

2 night midweek stay Mar25

It's been a number of year's since I last needed to stay in the area. As I had stayed here the previous time and was satisfied then, I had no hesitation in booking it again and would do so in the future if needed. It is clean, comfortable and just what I need and expect for a business trip stay. Good food in the bar and easy parking. Good area for working at in my room (with a study / comfortable work chair. Couldn't use WhatsApp on the hotel WiFi but otherwise fine

Nice Hotel Poor Food

Cannot fault hotel on any aspect except food.. We booked Sunday Lunch , Ordered Turkey & Ham with no stuffing. It appeared to have been vacumed packed meal with the stuffing scraped out of it but not completely. very poor selection of veg. Disappointing to think that a chef would serve this type of food. Breakfast was luke warm at most, eggs missing and rashers rubbery. Stands with trays on left in middle of floor for anyone to fall over.

Highly recommended

Great stay overall. Breakfast excellent, bar food great, facilities excellent. Only negative was the heating in my room was not working meaning it was extremely cold overnight. Reported to reception when I checked out. Other than this I can highly recommend this hotel. This was my 3rd stay and will hopefully be back again soon
