Right security, that was great! No air conditioning or deliberately put it to malfunctioning, needs fresh air or smells around, no sufficient ventilation in the rooms or the one I was. However, there is room for improvement.

I have arrived at night. Long time to check me in after a flight of about 7 hours although there was only me at the reception. Bathrooms are like since 1800 and I entered the floor is all wet(there is leak with this old equipment) and the cooler was as if it wasn't cooling so I was sweating at night therefore didn't sleep well, no free water to drink , no hand tissue available, the toilet is terribly placed in the bathroom, not enough space to sit well... The only good things about it are food, location (security and near all) and mainly friendly staff.

Ibis hotel DOUALA always an enjoyable stay center location great outside seating are by the pool which is kept to a high standard. Great AC throughout the hotel. Lastly very helpful staff.

The rooms are older, but comfortable. The staff members in the restaurant area are very kind and helpful. I had a bit of a hard time with the WiFi working, but it ended up being ok. The bed is comfortable and it was relatively quiet even though I was near the elevator. The staff were very kind with helping me to print a few documents I needed.

Olivia Nankam, the hotel concierge, did an excellent job of organizing a tour guide and driver for the time I spent in Cameroon. She also was a tremendous help when I had to spend an extra night in Douala because Cieba Intercontinental cancelled my flight without notice. Also, Thomas, the Hotel’s airport shuttle driver, went out of his way to make my stay an enjoyable one. Both Olivia and Thomas are to be complimented for their excellent service.

Favorite hotel in Douala

I stayed in 3 different hotels in Douala, to test them. This was by far my favorite. The staff was friendlier, the kitchen and public areas welcoming, the food decent, the pool functional, the room was very clean and functional (tiny, though). The atmosphere was just more pleasant. I will be back.

Great hotel near the Center town

This is a great hotel in the Center town of Douala , Bonanjo, close to major banks ( Bicec)., and the post office.
Hotel is very clean, with amazing staffs, always disponible, buffet breakfast was good.
Room was not spacious but comfortable.
Security was present at every time.
I would recommend this hotel to everyone for a short stay.

A pleasant surprise ...

The hotel selection was a bit of an internet gamble as I had never been to Cameroun before. But the Ibis name was known to me in UK, and its position near coast was suitable. I was very pleased with my choice.
I had no problems with checking in or out, considering my limited French. The room had everything I needed, and no less than I would expect in any good European hotel.
Restaurant much better than expected, great breakfast buffet and lovely varied food each day, staff often changing their dress from smart uniforms to traditional dress, that was a nice touch.
Recommend a visit to Limbe although a 2 hour journey. Although obviously a tourist, I felt very safe walking round marketplaces in Douala and everyone was friendly and helpful.

I was not to happy with the quality of the food. first night they tried to serve rotten beef, you smelled it straight away and was surprised that the chef did not pick this up. Second night they served me raw potatoes. Both days they did not try to make it up in any way!

I reserved this hotel on Expedia, got there and they told me they were full and did not get my itinerary from Expedia. I was literally stranded in this unfamiliar town and had to find another hotel at 10 pm. If you must book the hotel, pls call them afte you book to see if they have receive the itinerary from Expedia.

Good place when in Transit

I was in transit in Douala and one always knows what to expect with Ibis hotels as they are pretty much the same everywhere. The staff were nice and the shuttle was on time to take me to the airport at 3am.

Great for my objective

Great wireless connection, nice bed. The restaurant was a little pricey for the quality of the food and there were some noisy guests, but the hotel fit my objective of being connected and comfortable, ready for my early morning flight. The only problem I had was that the tel number communicated by hotels.com did not work so I had to get the hotel number upon arrival from one of the guys standing around in the airport to arrange a pick-up (van came soon afterwards so no major problem as it was daytime). I wouldn't have been at ease if I had arrived after dark.

Advertised as one of the better hotels in Douala but thet was the worst service I have experinced so far in the region. For the money paid my stay was an absolute disasted. I would point out Cyril, night shift front desk agent. Useless everytime, arrogant and definitely he doesnt care about anybody ;-)

They need a map of area.

My credit card had been eaten at the air port and I asked for the directions to a bank. The gal at the desk sent me out in a direction. ( I assumed that there was a bank a block down the road.) She had intended me to ask folks at the end of the block, and given most folks spoke French rather than English asking was not successful. I returned to tell her that there was no bank down there & she sent me the other direction.. with instructions to ask people. There were 3 banks with in 3 or 4 blocks, a simple drawing or map would have worked, since other guests must need ATM machines at banks as well.

Centrally located in the city of Douala, with easy access to the Airport. The Hotel also has a shutle service which can be used from the airport.

The reception staff was generally very friendly, and ready to assist.

Breakfast was buffee, although not much variety, but the quality of the food was very good.

One of Douala's top three hotels

The Ibis Hotel in Douala is an excellent no-frills hotel and I found it very comfortable. The shuttle service from the airport was free and they stuck by me during my delays. Check-in was good and the room is clean with central A/C.
The restaurant was okay but again it was no-frills.
On the departure date they allow a late check out at 19:00 hrs for a half day rate.
I would certainly recommend this hotel to fellow travellers who don't expect five star luxury. By Cameroon standards it is excellent.

Pour du travail , c'est un hôtel qui convient. Une petite piscine pour ceux qui veulent se détendre après une journée de travail . Un petit déjeuner copieux et un menu varié pour le déjeuner et diner. Mais un personnel vraiment agréable souriant . Vraiment j'ai beaucoup apprécié.

J’ai l’habitude de séjourner à cet hôtel lors de mes voyages au Cameroun, d'habitude parfait! Mais cette fois ci, je n’ai malheureusement pas pu prendre mon vol et donc y séjourner vu que je n’avais pas le bon test Covid. J’ai donc du reporter mon voyage d’une semaine mais... ils n’ont rien voulu savoir! La compagnie aérienne a bien voulu décaler mon vol d’une semaine, vu la situation sanitaire exceptionnelle, mais Ibis, non! Je suis bien évidemment terriblement déçu par cette décision.
Je vais donc dorénavant séjourner la semaine prochaine à La Falaise Bonanjo et adopter cet hôtel pour mes futurs voyages.

Séjour de 2 nuits (dont une sans climatisation suite à une panne). Service assez médiocre, on a toujours l'impression de déranger quand on demande quelque chose. La literie est à peine correcte. Le WiFi nous ramène à l'époque du 56k... On est au niveau d'un Ibis Budget alors que le tarif est tout à fait différent.

worst case: no shuttle waiting+no rooms available

Worst case happened: booked about 3 weeks before arrival and even re-confirmed airport shuttle at arrival with Ibis due to late timing. Arrived midnight to Douala, but no airport shuttle came! After 15 minutes waiting was forced to take taxi. Arriving at Ibis Hotel Douala around 1:00 am clerk claimed computer issues, overbooked hotel, no rooms available anymore!! Made me transfer to different hotel, arriving there around 2:00 am! Finally getting my room and slept just before 3:00 am. Next day business meetings, i.e. not what you expect from Ibis Hotel and booking thru Hotel.com. Worst experience and timing - will next time book different hotel.......
