In floor heating; no noisy AC unit.
Nice grounds to walk with our dog (pet friendly).
Host provided outside movie and got a fire going.
Hot breakfast (scrambled & sausage) plus good fruit, cottage cheese, yoghurt with usual coffee and selection of teas.
Friendly staff who want to help.
Property is well off the road and so peaceful. Restaurants are 5-8 mins away but parking is challenging as these are popular.

Stayed here during a birthday/engagement trip. The location was surprisingly ideal, right between Bodega and Petaluma, and was pet friendly which was necessary for us. The space itself was clean, comfortable, and had a warm and homey vibe. My girlfriend at the time was pleasantly surprised and loved it.
Staff was amazing the whole time, and very helpful. They really make the place. Enough so, when I proposed on the trip, we were both looking forward to telling Kendra at the front desk.
We did not get a chance to see a whole movie with the smores, but even just walking by set a great tone and added to the overall experience.
A little pricey, but well worth it. We will definitely stay here again. Make sure to check out the whole property, there's little hidden gems all around.

The staff was over the top fantastic, but due to a storm, we had no electricity, water, or internet for half our stay. They need a generator. We left a day early, but we had a non-refundable reservation and they wouldn’t budge on a refund for a night we didn’t stay.

Gotta say I am not taking off a star for no Wi-Fi because we knew this going in. I have to say I’ve probably slept better than I have in a long time without checking my phone or hearing it go off. Yes, that’s a Me problem.
We loved this place and we will be back. They were very dog friendly. And I kind of wish we were gonna stay for more than one night. I would assume during the summer months they’re busier, but it was very quiet. Loved the cookies. My husband said the breakfast was great the next morning. The room is comfortable and you could not hear the road almost at all.
My only minor complaint is that my husband has a big truck and so the parking lot and the in and out of the lot was a little tricky. But I still give this place five stars. We usually stay at inn at the tides which we love, but they’re not dog friendly. This is our go to place now when we take Jackson and maybe for good even without him.

I do not recommend

We went with high hopes to get away and relax. When we checked in, there was a nice man who was on his own with the entire hotel and spa...literally on his own. There was no wine at check in or anything special; we actually were worried and thinking \"what we have done\". The same man ran the hotel through 10 PM and actually did a good job, but we just felt for him. Everything was cheesy and hanging on a thread. We were happy to depart the next morning.

Comparing my stay from 4 years ago, this place has declined in its aesthetics and overall comfort since then. The grounds are not as well kept. Our bed frame was pieced together and unpainted. For the nightly rate I was expecting more.

Offered Chardonnay at entry. Great recs for beach and dinner places. We saw the 8pm outdoor movies with smores. Three nights in a row. Lovely afternoon playing cards on The pool patio. Feels far removed from civilization. But a quick car ride to most of the fun West Side of Sonoma coast.

Only 2 things meh: water pressure of shower and breakfast was basic, but included - so no complaints.

Staff were personable, warm and aiming to please. Epic trip, we will remember it fondly. We’d love to come back.

We stayed here with our 2 dogs. Its pricely for the amenities you get. Not walkable to restaurants. Nice casita like room but shower-too small and the sink didnt drain. Bed was super comfortable. The tv was too small for the size of the room. We didn't participate in movie night as they were showing legally blonde. It was too hard to do mini golf/cornhole/?? with dogs which you cant leave in the room. Nice walking areas for dogs to do their business. The comp wine and snack were minimal a small pour and baggie of chex mix. Didnt have breakfast as dogs not allowed in dining area.

We stayed at Sonoma Coast Villa for our 1-year anniversary and had a wonderful experience. The staff greeted us with wine, snacks, and a personalized card — such a thoughtful touch. Our villa was cozy and the bed super comfortable. Kendra was a delight and helped make our stay truly special.

We enjoyed playing bocce ball and cornhole, and the location was perfect — close to everything with easy parking. We’d definitely come back for another relaxing getaway!

The property was very quiet which was very pleasant. Was told that the suite we stayed in was the most requested room of the property. There was cobwebs around the head board, connected to the lamps on both night stands. There were cobwebs in the shower as well as hanging from the ceiling. Our first morning there there was no house keeping service. A microwave was advertised as an Amenity in every room, when I asked about a microwave, staff stated that there was only one room on the property that had one (obviously not the one we were staying in). Evening staff was pleasant and very helpful. Limited channels as Dish network has never been a great service provider. The WiFi on site keeps disconnecting and cellphone service is extremely limited due to the location. Website photos should be updated as expectations were high, but reality was underwhelming. Over all I would give this experience 2 stars. Breakfast was ok as the eggs were overcooked but everything else was fine. Evening staff once again was pleasant and very helpful.

Great weekend stay!

It was a wonderful stay! My two friends and I stayed in their double king for the long weekend and we had a wonderful time. The room was spacious and we used the coffee table to play a lot of board games. Danielle and Kendra were amazing and welcomed us with a glass of wine. They were also really lovely with my dog, Wilby! The smores and movie around the fire were great but it was a bit too chilly to stay long. Would definitely recommend this location if you're hoping to explore the nearby areas!

I had a great experience overall. The resort and spa had a wonderful feel, and the staff was absolutely incredible—friendly, attentive, and eager to help. The room was spacious, and housekeeping did a fantastic job keeping everything clean. The hotel itself was very well-maintained.

The only downside was the Wi-Fi connection in the area where I stayed. It was difficult to get a stable connection, and since there was no LTE coverage either, I had to go to the lobby or nearby areas for any online activity. The staff did their best to assist, but it seemed like the connectivity issues were beyond their control.

Aside from that, I really enjoyed my stay and appreciated the relaxing atmosphere of the resort.

This property has lost it's value. We've been staying here for 7 or 8 years and the prices have tripled but the quality has gone down. Recently spent a one nighter with my wife just to get away for the day. We were denied an early check in even though the occupancy was dead. They have a nice jacuzzi which is a big reason for us staying there yet the jets are broken, not the first time. Then the electricity and the water is out for 14 hours. We are then told to take it up with Expedia to receive any funds back for our inconvenience. Not any place we will be staying again.

Amenities sucked. The villa used an older website ad for the current View. This villa is poorly maintained, needs serious upgrades and landscaping improvements. The WIFI sucks,items such as the refrigerator, fireplace and lightening don’t work properly. Management does not support its staff , which is why they do not have enough employees. Found that this site is managed now under new owners. This facility is not being maintained. There is a bird nest just outside and above where you check in and start walking to your room. There is a big pile of bird drooping at your foot. Don’t look up because the birds might drop poop on your head !

The place was great decorated Tuscany style. Things to do including s’mores and outside movies. Here was the big problem!!! The Villa lost power, no electricity, which meant NO RUNNING WATER, because they were on a pump. you couldn’t even flush the toilet. This started in the night after we got there and lasted until we left!!! So , no showers for us, no breakfast, couldn’t charge our phones in the night, had to use a toilet that had no water , I have a medical issue that requires a devise that uses power!!!! These are all amenities that we pay for, but did not get any of it back. Do you think that they would offer us a little bit of our money back or maybe even a stay sometime in the future? NO!!!! WiFi never worked, the TV was glitching on and off until we lost complete power. The only thing the front desk person said is “I hope you like camping and handed up a mini lantern” THEY NEVER OFFERED ANYTHING BACK TO US, besides there so called funny comment. After taxes it cost almost $400.00 for ONE night and didn’t get use any amenities including the toilet.

I have to admit I'm rather mixed about this Sonoma resort hotel. The website photos made it look quite luxuriant, but the reality is that the place felt dated in a state of flux in relation to getaway poshness. When Jamie W and I decided to spend a weekend in Bodega Bay, this looked like it had possibilities. We definitely liked receiving a complimentary glass of red wine upon check-in.

On the upside, the room we reserved was huge with a fireplace and a sofa.Of course it should be nice for $450 a night (tax included). The Australian rain shower head was a plus in the huge shower stall, and the double sink vanity was set far apart. The cracks started to show with the TV where we discovered our selection menu was stuck on straight porn. Just our luck.

It was obviously the preference of the previous room occupant. The staff was not able to rectify the situation but to no avail. Not even local channels were available, so we decided to refocus on the fireplace. Despite several attempts to spark a lasting flame, the logs just refused to ignite. We were left with the jacuzzi which was already overrun with unsupervised rambunctious children.

That left us alone with our iPhones to watch videos reflecting our own proclivities. Gee, we could've done that at home. We did take advantage of the complimentary s'more kits but only after they were ransacked by the families occupying the other rooms. The breakfast buffet was a bit of a meh.

Expedia calls this an “upscale hotel with spa services” and furthermore describes this as a 4 star hotel. A 4 star hotel, according to Expedia, includes (our experience in parentheses):

Lobbies typically offer upscale decor (no) and multiple conversational areas (no). Services (very few, often empty front desk) often include a dedicated concierge (no), valet parking (no), turndown service by request (no), and 24-hour room service (certainly not). Guestrooms usually feature superior amenities such as large beds (no, metal frame on exposed plywood bedboard), additional seating (old goodwill furniture in corner), minibars (dorm fridge), laptop-compatible safes (no safe), pillowtop mattresses (see bed descr above), bathrobes (weird robes with strange brand names folded up in closet), and upscale bath products (basic soap). Decorative features such as crown molding, bathroom artwork, and granite or marble accents may appear (didn't appear in bad lighting). Resorts… customarily feature full-service spas (weak oil rub in a meeting room), tennis courts, golf access, child-care services, and upgraded pools with poolside food servers (none of the above).

This hotel has almost none of these things, read the 2.5 star Expedia description for a much more accurate assessment of this property. To say it has “rustic charm” would be generous - the word “derelict” is more accurate. It probably had a moment 25 years ago and little has been done to maintain let alone improve the property.

The property itself is beautiful, the rooms are so clean and comfortable and our room was great. The service and staff did not match the property or the price we were paying. The staff was not very accommodating or helpful. Our room wasn’t cleaned while we were staying there and I had to request it be cleaned. They finally cleaned it at 6pm while we were at dinner. There is no cell service there and the room phones weren’t working. They do have WiFi but that doesn’t help with phone calls. We didn’t have WiFi calling capability on our phones. I hope they get better service and more training for their staff. It’s a beautiful place to stay and I hope their service doesn’t ruin it.

It makes me sad to write this review but we were disappointed with our stay and experienced almost the complete opposite of the rest of the reviews. I'm not sure if they've changed ownership but we received pretty consistent unprofessional and sometimes rude treatment from the staff. We were almost always made to feel uncomfortable in every interaction and felt unwelcome which was a bummer for the price we paid and it was our first trip away with our baby. While it was very warm outside the pool was frigid as commented by others around us as well. Perhaps the biggest problem is that it is very remote with no cell service and in combination with that the wifi was down for almost our entire stay ~2 whole days. We had to leave the premises to have any service which was a problem for us but a huge problem for majority of the other guests staying that weekend that we spoke to. The breakfast was very underwhelming with few options of sub-par quality. Some pros: The rooms are really nice and spacious. The grounds are beautiful. The complimentary s'mores by the firepit are fun. All in all, lots of potential and I wish we could've stayed to experience what others in their reviews spoke about. In the future we will probably stay elsewhere.

Sonoma Coast Villa’s had the feel of a European B&B. I liked that it’s not in a place where there are other hotels. It’s secluded (18 rooms), quiet and pet friendly. We found it to be very relaxing and the wine on check in was a nice touch. We ended up buying a bottle of their Chardonnay which was very good. Overall, a great experience. The front desk personnel could be a bit more enthusiastic. Upon checkout, for example, no one asked how we liked the place.

Overall relaxing stay for two days. It was generally quiet and we enjoyed walking the grounds, game area and pool/spa. Disappointed we did not get daily housekeeping after paying a resort fee of $31/night. The buildings could use some upgrading. Patio to our room could have used some sweeping and cleaning as there were spiderwebs, leaves and dust on the chairs and floor. The bed mattress was a little uncomfortable. Breakfast was good.

One of the best places I’ve ever stayed in my life and it was shockingly affordable for the experience. Truly magnificent in every way.

The staff were all very welcoming & polite. We were given a short tour around the property & including our room. The rooms were alittle outdated. We really enjoyed the complimentary snacks provided. Overall, it was a nice getaway!

Sonoma Coast Villa is great: real wood fireplace in the room, nice breakfast, hot tub and sun room. It has many amenities and yet is small in scale and cozy: that's a hard balance to find. The nearby area has many walking/hiking opportunities and great restaurants. We'll be back!

Nice property tucked away off the beaten path. Have a great pool, jacuzzi, putting green, night time movie. They have a nice breakfast thats included every morning. There is no service but wifi works well.

It’s a great place to relax and rejuvenate. The s’mores where not out when we went out to the bomb fire so my kids where bummed but besides that everything else was perfect. Thank you Sonoma villas!

What’s unique, everything about the property is unique and tucked away in the hills. The feeling of satisfaction upon arriving is overwhelming followed by a complementary glass of wine confident you picked the right place to stay. My anniversary date night couldn’t have been at a more romantic location. The Sonoma coast villas will be top of my list for annual trips because I’m so confirdebt that my stay won’t disappoint in any way!
