We had a great time as a family of 5 in the resort for ten nights. There is plenty to do with the kids including aqua aerobics, Zumba, volleyball, tennis, mini golf, belly dancing and a wide choice of swimming pools and water slides (we counted 11 in total). Drinks and refreshments were easy to reach and the main restaurant offers great variety and options. We also used the kids club and went to the kids disco at night which is very popular with young ones. Big thanks to Gazza and Kimo for all the entertainment, Fayza and her colleague for the massage and Mostafa for the great service at the Fellucca restaurant. And thanks to the room service team for the special towel arrangements in the shape of a birthday cake for our son’s 10th birthday! The only thing we missed was a good cup of coffee. There was not a decent cup of tea or coffee anywhere to help caffeine-fuelled parents!! An easy win if the resort could fix that.
Strong recommendation to make sure you bring enough sun cream. We ran out and bought a local cream which although it stopped us burning, it gave us a rash and the kids’ skin was stinging. We ended up spending a lot for a European brand.
We really had a good time.

Had a great two weeks here with my wife to celebrate our birthdays. Special mentions for Lily and Shika from the Animation team. They were awesome. Ahmed \"Freddie\" from Victoria Pub for his hospitality.
Also The staff and Chef in Felucca Seafood restaurant were amazing. Food in a la cartes was tremendous. Our room was cleaned and restocked by Rabea who was superb.
All the staff from the Buffet were amazing, too many to name individually but couldn't do enough for us. Will visit again. Great Hotel.

In die Jahre gekommenes Hotel, in dem konstant Renovierungs-/ Sanierungsarbeiten zu jeder Tages und Nachtzeit durchgeführt wurden. Wir waren mit mehreren Familien in unterschiedlichen Gebäuden übers gesamte Gelände verteilt untergebracht. Zimmerzustände bzgl. Modernisierungsstand und Sauberkeit waren sehr unterschiedlich, Lärm oder Geruchsbelästigung haben jedoch während des 7 Tage Aufenthalts alle mindestens einmal gehabt.
Servicepersonal sehr bemüht, jedoch sichtlich überfordert mit hoher Gästeanzahl, insbesondere zu den Stoßzeiten zum Essen. Themenrestaurants teils schlecht klimatisiert und mittelmäßiger Essensqualität.

Loved the beach

My favourite thing about this hotel was the beach. Not the most picturesque, but had comfy padded sunbeds (organised in groups with shades and screens), gentle sandy slope in the sea, good snorkelling right off the beach and a camel giving rides for children. The kids loved the water slides and the pools were well maintained and life-guarded. The hotel was generally spotlessly clean and gardens well kept.
Our room in the family block near the slide pool was plenty big enough for 4, and our kids really appreciated having full size bunk beds rather than sharing a sofa bed, but the fittings were a little tired and the shower screen in the bathroom leaked.
The food was above average for this type of hotel but not outstanding. The beer, wine and spirits were fine but the cocktail menu was a bit of a letdown.
The activities were variable in quality. Lots of enthusiasm from the Animation team but some of the sports equipment was poor or broken, particularly the archery and mini golf. The evening entertainment shows were a little below par.

The hotel grounds are beautiful, immaculately kept. House keeping is great, left our room spotless everytime,

Reception staff are good however most questions or asks were met with a flat no for us 😬

Room was nice, spacious and clean with a bunk for the kids and balcony. My biggest gripe with the room was the mission it was to get anywhere - three flights of stairs (no lifts) and a long walk from the main area restaurants and everything else. I wish we had asked to move rooms but we felt embarrassed to ask and also scared after receiving flat nos for other requests 😬

Pools - are nice however the biggest downside of our trip - not heated as they claim! The pool with the slides is slightly warmer than the pool right next to it however still so cold which was not fun for the kids.

Really difficult to get an a la carte restaurant booking and unsure when they open for bookings but seemed to be full everytime we tried. Buffet restaurant good selection of food.

Animation team are great and beach is lovely. Service for drinks at pools and restaurants is hit and miss

The hotel itself was lovely and the food was great. The best entertainment I have seen on the beach which was provided by the team. Lovely baby sitting staff ( I had a lovely lady called Vika)
The only issue I had which ruined my trip is the currency issues. Please make sure you have Euros/GBP and exchange prior to entering the country. I bought GBP cash and made the mistake of exchanging into dollars at the hotel. They give you larger bills (💵 100) but then struggle to accept them back as payment unless they are in prestige condition as the bank wont accept them. They have a machine to provide you with Egyptian dollars only but hardly any places accept Egyptian dollars within the resort- only the market places but they put up a fight.
The prices within the resort for any pharmacy related products or toys are a total rip off. (More expensive than NYC- which surprised me!)

The only negative I would say is about the alcohol, although plenty of it, you're not getting proper cocktails it is all syrup based and no matter what you order from a beer, wine G&T, cocktail, it is all served in the same plastic cup/glass so think this could be improved on, other than that amazing place.

We walked two times with my wife all the beaches of Makadi bay. Everytime we were so happy to come back to our beach and realised that it has the best beach. No wind, nice coral reefs, sunbeds and umbrella. Overall very good hotel.

Staff at the reception are very helpful and responsive. Mohamed and Moataz at the reception are amazing.

What I didn’t like;
1- food either contaminated or is not kept in a good refrigeration especially with recurrent power outage as most of us got sick from it, my son vomited/ had diarrhea on the last day, my mom had diarrhea from day 1, myself had diarrhea on the last day.
2- Water park was ok , however, it is very slippery around the pool and on the stairs to climb the slides, operating hours is so limited to 10:00 am - 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Life guards shall be more attentive to slide riders as there are occasions where 2 people go on same slide which is prohibited or going back to back which increase risk of injuries. DJ was not working for the first 3 days around water park and pool attached to it,
3- employees at the main restaurant feel entitled to tips, initially they were bringing drinks, picking up empty plates then on the second day they didn’t care much, no one care about your presence if you don’t tip them and if you ask for anything, they make you feel uncomfortable by their attitude/ non verbal communication,
Unfortunately i don’t think I gonna come back again to this resort,

Incredible vacation
We had an amazing vacation. This is a great resort with great service and amazing people! We relaxed in a beautiful suite. We swam in beautiful pools. We laughed and played with our kids. We are definitely planning to return!
Beautiful grounds and all around a great resort. Service was very friendly and fun.
Food was super super amazing, the best at the resort, but on top of that our server, Hassan, made the experience 10x better.
We will never forget chef Bahaa & Mr. Boules for there great services, they took our vacation to a higher level.
Special thanks for Mr. Omr in the front desk, he made everything super easy for us since we entered the resort, and Mr. Mahmoud from financial for his great customer serves.

The resort is good for kids, has it's own beach and activities for kids and parents. the staff at the hotel is not focused on serving the guest, they're more interested in where a particular guest it from rather than doing what's asked of them. Any interaction with the staff or a quick request will result in having to wait for a long time (for something that should be done in minutes will be delayed due to the constant irrelevant questioning from the hotel staff). I spoke to the manager about this an all he did was offer an upgrade, however they do need to train their staff to focus on fufilling the request of the guest rather than question the guest about where they're from, what they do (unnecessary small talk that, all guests are trying to get away from in an resort; we're trying to relax not get interrogated) if i wanted people to question me about my life, i'd show up to a family thanksgiving dinner.

Food variety was great, and staff were very courteous. Room was old, only rooms far from the beach available as the buildings near the beach were under renovation. Cleanliness of the room on the first day was not good as well as plumbing. ACs in restaurants were not good. Overall not a 5 stars hotel in-terms of facilities. Alcoholic cocktails are very poor .

The waterpark has limited hours; it is only open from 10:00 a.m. - noon. then 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. The staff needs to be retrained with customer service, during our three days stay only three employees were friendly and welcoming (Ami and the Chef at the Chimichurri). Also, the bartender at the Splash Bar). We arrived after 3:00 p.m. and our rooms weren't ready.

Great hotel. Staff let it down

Our third visit and unfortunately our last. The staff in the food hall and restaurants were bordering on rude. They clearly did not want to be there and defo item did not want to serve. We have always had kind, fun, polite staff when here before but that was not the case this time. What a shame as it spoiled all the hard work of the animation team and lifeguards who were wonderful as always. The hotel itself has everything you could need and a lovely beach. If you call a car be aware that the gate staff will not let them through and you will be forced to meet them at the main gate. There seems to be no reason that they won’t allow ubers or taxis through except that they want you to use their limousine service. The staff in reception were of no help at all and at times rude when you asked questions. We arranged to keep our room with one staff member until 2pm only to be locked out at 12noon and when querying it, told the person didn’t have the authority to sort it out. How would we have known that. It took so long to sort out with our luggage in the locked room that we nearly missed our flight. We happily said we would pay extra but they just refused entry after 12 noon even though I had my family stood in reception in our swimwear and had a flight to catch. It was an awful service. We’re so disappointed. We’ve already booked our next holiday to hurghada with White Beach where we’ve never encountered these problems. The staff really do make the holiday.

We had a great one week vacation at the Sunrise Royal Makadi in late March, 2021. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were spacious. The food was good – the specialty restaurants were superb. There are a lot of free activities – Yoga (Lauren was great!), Zumba, Volleyball, the night entertainment (great DJ and sound system). I got one of the best massages in their spa from a woman (Rosa?). We rented Jet Skis and Ahmed took great photos. I bought some great lotion from Zideh at Secret of the Desert. Overall – this was a GREAT vacation. I highly recommend and will be back.

The property was very clean & food was good especially at the main restaurant. We were disappointed with the activities. The list of activities are misleading as on the beach, there are no kayaks, sail boats, or anything of the sort that is free of cost or even owned by the resort. They are all run by third party people. The staff at the spa are extremely pushy and bothersome when it comes to booking treatments and they are not very good at massages or mani/pedis. Activities such as archery, golf etc was never accessible because no one was there to give you the clubs/balls/arrows/bows when you wanted to participate. Billiards was also not free with cost of €3 per hour. Only 2 a la carte restaurants were open on the resort and The little entertainment show they had (also not very good) ends at 10:30pm with bars closing at midnight. Alcoholic drinks also sucked.

It was a pleasant stay at Sunrise Royal - we've chosen it for the kids in order to enjoy water park and slides. The territory is huge and well-cared for. I could notice that the staff takes care about the covid rules and regulations - at the territory, during the meal time etc.
We had good room at the ground floor just front of the playground and near to the pool. Very convenient location. It was perfectly clean, thanks to our HK Mohamed for the special care. The A/C was noisy somehow but after the first day we got used to it and did not notice the sound.
Food was very tasty, good variety at the main restaurant and we also liked the snacks during the day near Aqua pool - they make delicious pizza, burgers.
Thanks to Yousef from Aqua bar and Yousef from Splash bar for the service; thanks to Lauren and Lina from animation for their everyday attention.

We really enjoy our stay and would like to repeat it again!

the only bad thing is the small trucks (which transport the bags from reception to rooms). Some of drivers were driving at crazy speed between buildings and whole the resort, in the meanwhile i have made complain and asked talk with the responsible person! but unfortunately without any action from hotel.

Overall it's nice to stay in Sunrise most of staff are nice and polite only what I don't like it's a lot of family and kids and so noisy i would like they didn't put next to us family with kids it's keeping crying full night and after that 3 guys or 2 in next room they forgot all night the water opened for Wash room and water came to my room like swimming pool at 3.30 AM i called reception and they solved fast but most of guest there they don't have manners especially in food time and they keep starring at us anytime really if this hotle for adults and couples only it will be amazing i would like to thank Mohamed abdeldaim in house keeping he was making amazing decorations with towels and he his so kind and polite.

All is good and well prepared to COVID-19 precautions. Family suite is spacious, and well equipped, only the blackout curtain doesn't function as it's from poor material and the daylight penetrates the room just after the sunrise (you are not in need to set a morning alarm).
The private beach is an advantage and the aqua slidings are fun plus. The main swimming pool is big and beautiful, and the family one is nice as well.
The food is below the average, but the staff are friendly and trying to please all guests.

In general, it was a good experience and I will consider staying here again after COVID-19

The room was different, what was offered on expedia, we had to pay $30 nightly to have a room what fits to our needs. I might be picky, but the food quality was not excellent even if they have a lot (!) of choices. The only acceptable place is the berber and the mediterranean restaurant, all the others are just bellow average. The noise cancelling isn't a definition there, we heard all our 3 neighbours during the night, so we couldn't sleep until midnight/1am. The kids enjoyed the sliders and we loved really much the corals while snorkeling.

Be careful - very addictive place

the positive reviews about Royal Markadi are true. After one great week in December 2019, we will soon be back. Only very few things to be prepared for not to be disappointed:
The quality of the beverages included in the \"All Inclusive\" is limited. Soda ,coffee And The Beer is very nice. the white wine is \"drinkable\". The local red wines are not good. And if you decide to go for imported wines instead, be prepared to pay. Fruit juice selections are not European standards. Lots of sugar and little taste. But on the beach you can buy fresh squeezed juice and smoothies for 3 euros. From any of the cocktails offered we can recommend only the Mojitos and Caipirinhas. Not the rest. In the main buffet restaurant you will find new and very wide selections of food. Some of these dishes may not impress you. But others will. Especially fish and seafood dishes can be even close to \"gourmet\" standard. No need to book tables at the A la Card restaurants. The main buffet restaurant is the best. Except for Nasaya which is really great. Especially the fish and seafood. But here you have to pay. We went there twice during one week. Entertainment all day and night. Food in Shahrazad restaurant was amazing! Only downside was that the pools were not heated. The water was freezing cold so we couldn't enjoy the aqua park.

Beautiful resort, lots of choice of foods.
Sadly main pool was too cold to swim in but other pools were heated.
Staff friendly and helpful, so many in all areas.
Problem with initial room which was speedily recitifed. Nothing too much trouble.

overall this is my 2nd time to stay in Sunrise royal makadi resort !! the hotel is very clean and the staff is amazing . the food quality is excellent with good varaity, the hotel celebrated our wedding anniversary with a very nice cake .
i would totally recommend this place for families as the animation team is very active day and night .

This hotel provided our family with the most amazing holiday experience.The moment we arrived we were greeted with friendly staff welcoming us home, with a refreshing drink in hand.The hotel is immaculately presented and nothing is too much trouble for any of the wonderful staff, who work tirelessly to ensure your every need is met.This truly is a home from home and you will be made to feel special by every staff member.The food is lovely, including unlimited reservations at any of the a la carte restaurants. If you struggle to book then just go to guest services who will happily assist you. We had no problems and managed to book into all of them during our stay and some several times.The buffett restaurant is also nice and drinks are local brands but very tasty and varied.The hotel rooms are bright and modern with everything you need. The choices of pools are excellent and we never struggled for sunbeds.The beach is amazing, excellent for snorkelling and we saw lots of interesting creatures just in the hotel part of the sea. Wow! The people who come to sell their services are very friendly and after the first day, once we had displayed our red flag then we didnt get 'pestered'.The animation team are second to none and really work hard to ensure you have a fab time. The shows are good, the sports and activities are great and you are never forced to do anything. From someone who didn't want to go to Egypt then i am truly converted and we will be going back soon. Been back to hotel lots of times and it just feels like home. The staff are just amazing, can’t do enough for us. There are so much options of where to eat and if by chance you can’t find anything to your liking then just see one of the chefs and they will sort something out for you.
That’s why we keep going back.

SUNRISE Royal Makadi Resort - Lovely place for a h

I had been to Egypt couple times before and last trip to Luxor left me feeling negative because of how the horses are treated there and the brazen attitude of the locals.
But our stay at the Sunrise Royal Makadi was a wholly different experience. Friendly and relaxed staff, very comfortable facilities, a working gym with two treadmills, 4 tennis courts, multiple pools and slides, lovely beach, water sports, good food, variety of restaurants and internet on the beach! There were a couple of horses and a camel - all in very good health. The only negative was doors slamming loud and echoing waking us up some mornings.
