The man who he led us in was wonderful. It was fun talking to him. Bed not very comfortable. Expensive restaurant/bar. Had to pay nightly for parking.

Wonderfully clean establishment, great customer service. Only thing is the parking now being run separately by Metropolis - set-up was cumbersome and did not work well. Furthermore, corporate account typically covered on-site parking and now it no longer is included.

Stay away. Lobby is nice but the rooms don’t match. The worst part is the service and rudeness of the staff. Impossible to get help or speak to management. I’ve traveled internationally and have never had this much trouble with an establishment.

It sad when an elegant and vibrant hotel loses its stature. The Grand Bay as it is now called used to be one of The premier hotels on the San Mateo Peninsula. That time has passed. The staff was pleasant and courteous. However, only one person working check in on a Saturday afternoon? C’mon! The rooms are worn, water pressure weak, and that’s a shame. It will be my las last stay there!

The bar and restaurant close at 10pm. The coffee shop had a sign that indicated it would be closed for 30 minutes at 10am. Staffing seemed to be light. My assigned room was occupied (I was able to access the room with my key)
The same thing happened to another guest. There seem to be some kinks that need to be worked out during the transition to Marriot.

I recently stayed at the Grand Bay Hotel in San Francisco, which has just transitioned into a Marriott property—a promising change that I think will only enhance the experience moving forward. From the moment I arrived, the staff stood out. They were incredibly attentive, accommodating, and genuinely pleasant throughout my stay. Their professionalism and warmth made a real difference. Although I didn’t get a chance to dine at the restaurant in the evening, I did try the breakfast. It was decent—nothing extravagant, but fairly priced and in line with local standards. The same goes for the drinks in the evening: good value and a relaxing atmosphere. My room on the 9th floor was very comfortable. While the decor felt slightly dated, everything was spotlessly clean, and the view over the water was absolutely beautiful—definitely a highlight.
One of the unexpected joys of my stay was the nearby boardwalk. I happened to visit on a gorgeous day, and it was perfect for a long, peaceful stroll. It added a lovely touch to the overall experience. All in all, I would happily stay here again. With the Marriott transition underway and such a strong team already in place, I’m confident this hotel is only going to get better.

Location is great and the staff are friendly and very personable. This is truly a benefit as the hotel has undergone several ownership transitions since I started visiting about a decade ago. Facilities are undergoing renovation a floor at a time, so some rooms are better than others. However the restaurant is great, with seasonal menu changes, and the location adjacent to the lagoon has wildlife and nice walkability.

This is a business hotel located in the middle of a business park. All outside restaurants were located at least a mile away. Room was a little small for the price. The special price we received hardly covered the parking fee which was outrageous. Would not recommend this hotel to families or anyone on a budget looking for a quick overnight stay

Some of the surrounding areas can be pretty busy and cause travel times to take much longer than expected. Especially Downtown San Francisco. Having a much quieter, modern, comfortable, and more laid back place to get back to and relax definitely helps. It’s centrally located to multiple popular areas, including the SF airport, Palo Alto/Stanford University, Half Moon Bay, Golden Gate Bridge, etc. I would definitely stay here again if I have a need or desire to return to the region.

The hotel is located in a quiet area surrounded by businesses. However, it’s also located near a small airport for personal planes and those are very noisy and heard often during the day. Only an Issue for those that sleep during the day. Nice view of lagoon. Convenient self parking. Lobby is very nice, with bar, and cafe. Disappointed with the room, weird musty smell in room. The water pressure in the shower is almost non existent. When the toilet clogged, and a request was made at the front desk for help, no one came to fix the toilet. The mattress is rock hard, with a pillow topper on top. Which is somewhat ok for back sleepers. If you’re a side sleeper you will be in pain. The AC doesn’t work well which forces you to crank the window open. You will hear your neighbors hotel doors slamming shut, constantly. Thin walls. Bedding was clean and white, same with towels. Overall room cleanliness was good. Parking is $30 a night. Overall, for the price it’s decent, but I doubt I will stay here again.

The rooms are really nice but the bed in our Junior suite was old and saggy in the middle. We complained to the management about the state of the bed and they said oh yeah, we've been hearing lots of complaints about the beds so I think that that is in need of an upgrade. Other than that, it's a nice hotel. It's a little bit worse for wear but they said they were going to do a remodel soon.

I recently stayed at this property and was extremely disappointed to discover unexpected charges that were never mentioned during the reservation process through expedia. Like $30.00 per day for the parking!! and the other fees that were not mentioned. I made my booking in good faith based on the information provided, only to find additional fees added at check-in/checkout that were neither disclosed nor justified.

Transparency is a basic expectation when booking any accommodation. There was no mention of these fees in the confirmation email, the reservation platform, or the front desk until I was already locked into the stay. This feels misleading and unprofessional.

Guests should be informed of all costs upfront — not surprised with added charges after the fact.

Until this issue is addressed and pricing is made more transparent, I cannot recommend this property and will be taking my business elsewhere in the future.

The hotel is in a corporate park however there are not a lot of options in the immediate area to stay somewhere with a walkable downtown which makes this property attractive since it is in a good location but not up against 101 like many of the hotels. On a weekend the area is dead so it's very quiet other than the small airport and at times single engine propeller planes take off over the hotel every 90 seconds (we noticed this but the pool in particular. The staff was adequate but not friendly per se and the place is nice. The e-bike rentals, while expensive, are convenient is you want to go to San Mateo where there is more of a downtown and streetside dining options.

I don't think it says in Expedia that parking is $30/night, but it is.
