We stayed in a suite. The room decor was dated. Speakers were falling off the wall and dusty. Grout in bathroom tiles not clean. There was no couch in general seating area in room so could not sit next to or cuddle partner while watching television, only separate high back chairs. Although spacious the room decor felt dated with no warmth. The walls could do with decorating as marks on them. Room Key constantly got stuck in room door. The positives are the bed was comfortable and breakfast was tasty.

During breakfast, we were met with an unexpectedly firm and unwelcoming attitude from Maria, a member of the staff. Despite the kitchen still being open, we were refused a hot breakfast at 9a.m., and her explanation for this decision was neither clear nor satisfactory. While we appreciate that the hotel may have been particularly busy due to a conference, the manner in which this was communicated did not reflect the warmth and hospitality we have come to expect.
Additionally, the food served to my son was noticeably below the usual standard: the portion was half its usual size and the single egg provided was overcooked and unpalatable. This stood in stark contrast to our past positive experiences, where service and meal quality have always been excellent.
While we continue to value the hotel’s many strengths, we were sincerely disappointed by this recent encounter, which was unfortunately marred by an uncharacteristically hard attitude and diminished food quality.

Great place to stay, nice walks nearby. Hotel looks newly freshened up. Great decor and style. Staff are lovely. Could do with a mirror also in the bedroom as once you have had a shower the one in the bathroom takes a while for the steam to go. Also if your partner is in there you can't get ready to you can use the bathroom mirror.

Cantley House Hotel is in a peaceful location and very close to Wokingham town centre. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was an issue with our room but we were moved to a different room immediately and upgraded. The room was very clean and comfortable and breakfast was very good.

Location was convenient but sometimes we felt like we were in Fawlty Towers. Waited 10 mins at an unmanned reception to check in. Clearly very focused on events and not hotel guests, so appeared very disorganised. Individual people were fine and Stables restaurant was awesome but the hotel is now very dated and clealry more staff are needed.

Lovely! Our room was in the main building, which is pretty old, but has clearly been recently refurbished. It was tastefully decorated in keeping with the age of the building, but still felt fresh and modern at the same time. Bed was comfy and a good size, bathroom was very nice with a separate shower and huge bath. It was freezing cold that day, so the under floor heating in the bathroom was very welcome! Breakfast was very tasty & all the staff were very nice. The event we went to in one of the function rooms was very well run.

Extremely expensive cocktails for a thimble of liquid, very disappointing. £12 for a passion fruit martini in a smaller than normal cocktail glass. Extremely unreasonable. Service very good in the event, and everything else ok, clean.

This was a 1-night stay for work. Greeting by reception staff was friendly. I was in room 36, which was a large room with a large ensuite (shower over bath, big step up/down in/out of bath). Room comfortable with a table to work at and additional armchair in room. I had asked in advance for decaf tea and coffee in room, there was none when I got into room, so had to go and ask and was provided on request. Hotel menu a little on expensive side (£17 for fish and chips) so ate elsewhere. Car parking right outside main entrance (space for about dozen vehicles) overflow car park nearby.

Ok but not sure it’s four star. Room was quite cold and couldn’t adjust the temperature on the radiator in bedroom or bathroom they seemed to be turned off. Wanted a shower in the morning but there was no hot water. Room was clean-ish, staff friendly. Didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment.

Heaps of potential but let down by state of repair
A beautiful old house set in lovely grounds. House itself is very impressive with lots of original features which made it unique. However the room I had was very tired, in need of decorating and several maintenance issues. Due to it being an old building, the room was draughty with only single glazed windows. Access to the room would have been difficult for someone with mobility issues or very tall people!
Breakfast was great. Served in the old stables, the menu was extensive for such a small hotel and food was cooked to order and was tasty.
Overall an average stay. This hotel has so much potential, on first impressions the rooms look well equipped with modern décor, however I would not choose to stay here again due to the general state of repair of the room.

Lovely big room, huge comfy bed..Couldnt get radiator to work in bathroom . Curtains badly hung missing several rings thus hanging down from pole so made them look a bit scruffy . Staff were nice. We stayed when hotel was not busy. Breakfast quality ingredients nicely cooked but no bread or toast with full breakfast which I found unusual. Overall enjoyable stay and would stay again

A good value hotel
Overall this was a pleasant stay. Our room, in the stable block, was spacious and comfortable, although a little tired looking, and breakfast was good. I would say good value and a nice hotel for our trip visiting family in the area. It was a shame our bathroom towel rail was cold and despite reporting this at reception, it remained so. We didn’t use the bar facilities as it didn’t look very inviting. Generally though, an ok stay.

An excellent 2 night stay in a lovely hotel in a very nice setting
The room was extremely spacious with a massive bed, double sofa and armchair together with bathroom that had a separate shower to the bath. There was tea and coffeee making facilities in the room plus a safe available in the cupboard. As it was very warm there was a large fan in the room too. Breakfast each morning was lovely home cooked fresh food plus continental brekkie also and a plentiful supply of tea or coffee. All of the staff were very pleasant. It was short walk of about a mile into the town where there were plenty of shops, restaurants and supermarket.

There was tea and coffeee making facilities in the room plus a safe available in the cupboard. As it was very warm there was a large fan in the room too. Breakfast each morning was lovely home cooked fresh food plus continental brekkie also and a plentiful supply of tea or coffee. All of the staff were very pleasant. It was short walk of about a mile into the town where there were plenty of shops, restaurants and supermarket.

The hotel is a bit tired and in need of some renovation, it looks like this has started but it’s a huge site so a challenging task. Our room was a good size with a bath and separate shower. Little touches we have seen in the past like a pack of biscuits were missing this time round.
Lots of dust on several of the surfaces especially in the bathroom but both the bath and shower worked well.
After the first night our towels were replaced no option for us to continue to use the ones we had - and in fact we only received one new towel for day two.
Breakfast was good with excellent service.
Bed was comfortable as well.
All in all it was just about worth the money.

Lovely hotel is large grounds with large car parking area and excellent attached restaurant. Staff helpful and friendly, room clean and comfortable if a little dated. Bathroom lovely but water pressure not great. Nice burger in the restaurant where, unfortunately, a rather drunken couple were being obnoxious and offensive to staff but it was well handled.

The hotel is tucked away on the edge of Wokingham in a very quiet setting, great parking directly outside the hotel and free. My room was clean and well stocked with amenities but small considering the cost, £117 weekend rate but a lot more for weekdays. If l had paid £178, weekday rate l wouldn’t have been happy. Breakfast buffet was average, not a great deal of choice and a £14 each extra.

We didn't get rooms like in the pictures.. we had more dated ones in a ground floor area near to reception. The rooms however were very spacious and had doors going out to the garden which was lovely. The bed was not comfortable, just 2 singles pushed together with a gap down the middle. The bath was quite hard to climb into for a shower, but the water pressure was excellent and there was plenty of hot water .. I was able to wash my long tangly hair with ease which was a lovely change! Kettle and tea provided but no fresh milk as no fridge that we could see. The breakfast was reasonable and priced accordingly.. I would skip the veggie sausage next time though as it was very dry. Espresso was extra and at £4.50 I would have expected freshly ground, but what I got was something of a crime against coffee! The staff were lovely and all in all it was value for money. We would stay again for one night for sure, longer I probably wouldn't bother as I prefer a pool and more veggie options at breakfast.

Hotel was easy to find Parking was fine, with slow EV charging available within 100yds. On site restaurant was good and service was fine. Rooms were dated but clean. Dont expect a restful night. Its a popular venue for events, and the nights we stayed we were disturbed by the noise from adjacent rooms. We could here talking, toileting and copulating. Not great when you want a good night sleep. Phone in room didnt work, neither did heated towel rail.
