The most amazing place, simply wonderful. Best location, excellent premises at the top of a mountain, with a spectacular view of the Mediterranean Sea and the costa del sol. Going up in the mountain, 19 minutes drive, you will find the most gorgeous town Mijas, white Mediterranean house with plenty of history and sightseeing. 10 out of 10 place.

I always enjoy staying at this hotel. Illunion seem to use it for training staff and, as a result, they try to do their best to help always. The hotel was running on limited staff, though, as it was in November this time and guests were warned that the food service would be limited. No problem, however in keeping some snack food in your room and making use of the copious number of restaurants in Mijas Pueblo just up the hill.

A disappointing stay

The bathroom odour was overpowering..the furniture dilapidated…and the TV system need a complete reinstall…the control broken….However...the breakfast was good and the personal friendly…they did offer to change the room but after 10 hours travel we were to tired…and felt there would have been little point….the location lovely ..all above needs attention

Would not recommend for families or longer stays

Unfortunately, our stay was disappointing.

The breakfast was very poor for the €14 charged — extremely limited options and not worth the price.
One of the reception staff was particularly rude and unhelpful, barely acknowledged us when we spoke. Thankfully, another receptionist was more polite and tried to assist.
Despite booking a family room, we were repeatedly given towels and bedding for just one person, and basic room items weren’t replenished unless we specifically asked.
There was no coffee, no water in the room — not even a kettle.
The hotel is also poorly located. Contrary to what’s stated on the website, the beach is not a 6-minute drive, and there are no shops or restaurants within walking distance. Getting an Uber or Bolt was difficult as the area isn’t well serviced.

Easy to stay longer!

Good choice for a layover. Nice room, pool, cafe/bar areas. Bus gives easy and cheap access.

Not sure if I would stay again

First of all it's a shame Mijas is a wonderful place. Bare in mind the outside temperature reached as high as 39 degrees at some stages, our air conditioning didn't work very well and never came below 24.we reported it every day for the 8 days we were there. We got told is never goes lower than that, this was BS as we spoke to other couples and there's was lower. Everyday was another excuse, don't have 329. We didn't sleep very well for 7 nights and they refused to move us. Most of the staff seemed a little rude. We had lunch one day took 1 hour to be served, then after a complaint they served me and not my wife, I ate alone, then they charged me twice. There was rubbish all over the lower grounds which took 4 days to be cleared. I would recommend TRH Mijas over this hotel. Will be complaining to Hotels. Com

Hitel Illunion Mijas

Hotel location with covered parking was great. We had a nice room, overlooking the pool and with a sea view in the distance. We were disappointed with the main choices for our evening meal. We also felt that the staff were overstretched and not overly friendly.

We have stayed 5 times in less than a year. We absolutely love it. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. It feels like home now when we visit.
Highly recommended and will definitely continue using this as a base when in Mijas.

The hotel is spotlessly clean and the reception always smelt wonderful. The piped music was lovely and the seated areas very beautiful.
Breakfast was very good with lots of choice and all very fresh. Dinner was not good though, with chewy/fatty meat sometimes but there was always lots of fresh pasta, chips and bread. The dinner option does not include drinks, which was a surprise as we thought one drink per person would be included.

Great stay!

Great stay beautiful location and building very beautiful also. Rooms a bit plain but most importantly clean. Food was a little basic, could be improved. Other than that it a beautiful setting and hotel itself is decorated beautifully really is scenic. Extra charge for sauna and steam room which was not the case before. Staff super friendly, would reccomend for sure!

Room 222 is very outdated and needs complete remodel - noisy room. Property common areas and ground are well maintained and staff is attentive some how it compensates the room not be updated . Bed was firm but comfortable to me . Main issue is not a good sleep. Not Recommeded

El aire acondicionado en los cuartos no baja de 25 grados. No se puede dormir por el calor insoportable que hay. Hemos reclamado a recepción nos han cambiado de cuarto pero el aire es centralizado y los cuartos no enfrían.
No se puede dormir.
La chica de recepción muy amable pero no puede hacer nada al respecto.

Pandemic hangover

I like this hotel and stayed there when the pandemic was still raging elsewhere. However, it's now four years since Covid and things which were effective during that time are still in place. The rooms are quite bare. I asked for an iron to sort out some travel wrinkles and that's what I got and was told to \"use the desk\" as an ironing board! I asked for a coffee and tea tray and I got.....a kettle. When I asked again - I was told I should have asked for a cup....in the end I borrowed a cup and spoon from the restaurant and bought tea from the local shop. Things that were there before the pandemic are no longer there. Shame - but I still like the place and the staff are friendly. PS Still no English language tv channels.

Best bd ever!

We checked in at the end of a long and beautiful day touring Mijas Pueblo. The staff greeted us with huge smiles and huge patience for my bumbling Spanish. I joked with my girlfriends that i immediately judge a hotel as classy and thoughtful when there’s a beautiful setting for fresh water or a treat there in the lobby: exceptional at Ilunion! The room was perfect for the three of us friends traveling together. Breakfast was affordable and worth it with a large variety of foods to choose from. Most important of all, attentive and friendly staff who seem to truly enjoy being there.

Parking was free but a little difficult- i think there was a reception going on there.

One night in Mijas

Overall the hotel was lovely. Great staff.
Buffet lunch started at 1:30, we arrived at 2:30 and a lot of the food looked old and dry. The room was spacious with lots of storage, but it was rather dark. The bed was reasonably comfortable and had extra pillows. We had two issues with the room. One was that the bed was on wheels that did not lock. So, if one tried to sit up in bed, for example to watch tv or read, and leaned against the headboard, the bed would roll away from the wall, causing pillows and person to get stuck in the gap. The other issue was an enormous amount of mosquitoes in the room at night. We had to sleep with the sheets over our heads because they were buzzing and biting incessantly. The staff acknowledged that there are lot of mosquitoes and said there was nothing they could do as we are in the countryside.
Otherwise, the room, bathroom, shower were very nice. The grounds were lovely and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. The public areas of the hotel were very clean and well maintained. Despite the minor issues, would certainly recommend this hotel for future stay, but would bring mosquito repellent.

You have to pay €12.50 to use the safe in your room....decor in room is bare and a bit dated. Lighting is terrible, just bedside table lights and one uplight in corner, no overhead lights. Could not figure out Aircon so we were freezing. Shower sprays everywhere as glass on side of shower was far too short and water temperature inconsistent. Staff were lovely and friendly. Food was good, not much variety and plates were not clean, had to keep hunting for ones without encrusted food on it. Pool looked beautiful but didn't try it as out of season. Scenery was stunning and short convenient drive to shopping centre and main motorway. Really friendly staff at the restaurant and bar

October mini break.

Spent 3 nights at Ilunion Hacienda de Mijas, the room was lovely, very spacious with a great bathroom and shower. Beautiful public rooms and the gardens and pool were really well kept. Very good value for money, would definitely stay there again.

Like the hotel, I don’t think it’s a holiday hotel more business trip or stop over. The reception areas and pool areas lovely. Reception staff are really helpful, the bar staff not so helpful there service is poor, there aren’t enough staff, they don’t acknowledge what you are doing, just carry on in their own little world, then 10 mins later decide to serve you…also they don’t seem very knowledgeable on how to serve gin or drinks they keep using the wrong glasses. Gin was put in a normal straight pint beer glass it should be in a bowl. Iv had good twice from the bar, possibly the worst food Iv ever had, burger frozen tasteless, ham/cheese toastie disgusting soggy and tasteless . Food I’d give zero. Room lovely but no balcony . Hotel in a lovely area, nice gardens and clean. Spa - massage poor and proper time wasn’t given, asked for certain things and ignored .

Cold chips

Our room and the facilities around the pool were clean; Comfortable bed, efficient air con, fridge. An evening meal in the cafeteria was not so great: the waiter either forgot to put in our full order or collect when it was ready. As a result our order (hamburger & chips) arrived cold and inedible. We were eventually given one freshly cooked meal with hot chips and told there was no more because the kitchen was closed (10pm) ......so we ended up sharing the meal between the 2 of us. The waiter did apologise and offered us a drink on the house, but sadly we were still hungry and as a result decided not to try and eat in the hotel again.

My boyfriend and I had a rental car and this hotel was the perfect choice. We planned to stay here only for 2 nights but we finally stayed for 4 nights. It is located near mijas town so we had a beautiful view day and night. Staffs, especially Sergio, are kind and informative. I will recommend to my friends to stay here when they go to malaga.

We were given 2 twin beds and after asking to change the beds to double, reception said all their beds are single. We’re all for eco friendly but they’ve gone too far by not providing soap by the sink! No tissue, only toiletry is shower gel… and four star? Maybe 2

Magnifico Hotel Ilunion Mijas

Perfect location midway between Mijas Pueblo and Fuengirola with mountain views on one side and seaview on the other. Large pool with plenty of grassed sunbathing areas with pool towels thrown in too so no need to pack beach towels! Disabled friendly with ramps all around and a hoist to aid entry and exit to the pool. There are bus stops just outside the hotel making it easy to get to both towns with an hourly service and just €1.55. Already thinking about returning next year.

Friendly and pleasing stay.

This hotel is smaller than others in the area and felt really friendly. Although the service and the rooms were hampered by the covid pandemic, I had no real complaints. It would be good for the rooms to have a coffee and tea facility and also the safe in the room needed to be \"booked\" with a separate company which seemed bizarre. Above all, the staff did everything to help make the stay comfortable.

The front desk staff were brusque and did not give us any information about amenities until prompted. The floor was dirty, you could see dirt and dust visibly. The beds were old and super uncomfortable ..: you could feel the springs. There were no outlets near the bed at all. There
Were handles pulling out of the walls in the bathroom. It was definitely in need of an update. The air conditioning barely worked… at night it was so hot! It started to get cooler in the morning and we changed no settings. Definitely did not get a good night sleep. The gym actually seemed to have received an update recently and my husband enjoyed using the facilities. We did not eat there but the options looked subpar, much better to make the short drive up to Mijas Pueblo to eat. We were happy about the on site parking.

A tired-looking hotel

The outside of the hotel, pool area and grounds were beautiful but the rooms were a bit shabby and could do with updating although they were clean.
Not soundproofed at all, terrible night's sleep due to incredibly loud barking dog behind hotel, even earplugs couldn't drown it out and in the morning we could hear other guests and cleaners. We ordered breakfast a la carte, 15 EUR for two coffees and a couple of pieces of toast with jam - was quite shocked.
I was glad we only stayed one night.

This is a hotel that should be admired for its commitment to the disabled community. They prove that providing opportunities to disabled people does not impact service.

The second plus was it’s pool - it was huge - and surrounded by lots of sun loungers.

Finally I was concerned about the negative reviews about cleanliness and service. However we had no complaints about either.

Not so good was our room. It was in the basement near the conference rooms so we were woken up early by people setting up. Also being in the basement the room was dark Frustrating also was that it was impossible to close the bathroom door. To be honest we did feel second best to all the tour companies that used the hotel - notably SAGA! We did feel twenty years younger than most other guests.

The hotel staff were slow and not very helpful. We were a large group but were told to leave reception for being too loud. We are middle aged people not a hen party. The pool was very slow to open - breakfast wasn’t good - there was no water in our room although we were told there would be. Some of the staff were rude.

Not happy when ordering food one night. Sought a portion of fries and was given reheated fries. Not acceptable.

Our room was in the basement and while the room was fine, looking out at cigarette butts, rubbish even a roll of toilet paper thrown around I’d not a pretty sight from your room.

Tride and True Hotel that will not disappoint

We had a wonderful stay here. They had flamenco dancers in the evening and our daughter really enjoyed it. The indoor pool was very nice even if a tad small. The sauna and workout center easily made up for it.

The room was spacious and even had a couch/sofa for us to sit on. The bathroom was of medium size and easy to maneuver, definitely a perk with a little one running around.

We had a wonderful stay and would be happy to return. We even tried a couple of weeks later, but they were all booked up.

The only downside is that they got rid of their playground. Our daughter was very disappointed. However, this is not needed for most guests.
