We reserved a room for two nights. We were coming down to go to a family gathering. On the day we were to arrive, I got sick. I spent the night in the hospital about one hour north of East Brunswick. My wife's called the hotel and specifically told then we were not going to make it in and also let them know that we did not want to give up our reservation and we intended to be there for the second night. They did state that they would have to charge us for the first night, which was fine. When we did arrive the afternoon of the second day, we learned that they had canceled our entire reservation for both nights. This was a guaranteed reservation.
We once again informed the front desk person that we had a medical emergency. We informed him that we called the evening prior. We were told that we called the national Marriott reservation number. My wife redialed the phone number she had called and it rang at the front desk. They refused to honor a reservation. Even worse, the front desk person refused to identify himself. We were told, and I quote, \"you don't need my name\". This is well below the standards of Marriott. Extremely poor customer service.
