Very last minute stay in New Brunswick after an unexpected hospital stay. We arrived late around 9 pm. No parking left due to a Hooters restaurant sharing same lot. We checked in, but the reception manager did not tell us anything - where/when breakfast occurred, what amenities offered, check-out time, etc.

Room was okay, but the carpet on the floor seemed a little sticky and looked like it had not been washed recently. Bed was fine. Bathroom was standard, but shower settings were opposite on the knob.

Breakfast was typical - bacon, sausage, something that looked like eggs and potato, breads, cereal and oatmeal. Coffee came from some dispenser machine for different settings - tasted awful.

In desperate need will stay here again, but no plans to in future.

Wow! The renovations and changes to the hotel are stunningly spectacular! The room upgrades are perfect. Big king bed nice decor comfortable and quiet for our stay. Breakfast was also a positive shift from what it used to be when this site used to be a different Hotel. Hot breakfast with a variety of items was very welcome and helped us to save a lot of time in the morning. It was also helpful to have a sports bar next door because we didn't have to go hunting for a late night place to eat when we came in. This is always a good hotel even under previous branding. Now it's a great Hotel!

Room is clean but the noise from Route 18 made it an uncomfortable night. If you are light sleeper, it is not recommended here but for one night, it's do-able. There's practically little to no hot water. The breakfast option is ok.

Very easy and quick check-in and checkout, the staff at the reception both evening and morning shift very friendly and courteous. Room was super clean and the bed was perfectly set. Nothing much to say about the breakfast, very small space and very limited quantities of the offered few items and if you are late in showing up then good luck if you get anything.

I’m honestly shocked at how this hotel is rated. Whoever is giving exceptional reviews must not know what a proper hotel experience should feel like.

On the night of December 4th, 2025, the front-desk staff member working that shift was extremely disrespectful. That interaction alone made the stay uncomfortable, and someone with that attitude shouldn’t be dealing with guests at all.

The rooms are noisy — highway sound comes straight in, making it hard to sleep peacefully. Breakfast is very basic and feels like it’s there just for the sake of offering something. Many times the breakfast attendant wasn’t even present, and we had to request scrambled eggs. The carpets are dated, and overall the hotel does not feel worth the price.

On the positive side, the daily room-cleaning service was excellent. The housekeeping team over the last two days was welcoming, helpful, and did a great job. Coffee is available 24 hours, which is a good touch, and the breakfast area at least offers a variety of coffee options.

If management actually put effort into improving service and breakfast quality, this place could be better. But as of now, I’m very disappointed and will not be returning.

Terrible Experience – Money Stolen & Zero Accountability - DONT EVER STAY HERE

I stayed at the Best Western Rutgers Hotel and discovered after returning home that $75 USD had been stolen from my bag. I reported it to the hotel and was told someone would investigate and call me back. No one ever did.

When I followed up myself, the front desk staff (Luke) dismissed my concern, implied I’d “left the money somewhere else,” and told me to file a police report , even after I explained I’m not a U.S. resident. No transparency, no investigation shared, no accountability.

I’ve stayed at hotels around the world and have never experienced theft or such unprofessional, defensive customer service. This was my first time staying at a Best Western and likely my last.

We stayed 3 nights, not once did housekeeping enter our room! Now listen I wasn’t looking for fresh sheets everyday or mints on my pillows but we complained the first day that no towels were replaced or trash emptied we had to go to front desk to get trash bags and towels. We were told to just put dirty towels and trash outside our door. I hate doing that because then they can say we stole towels and charge my card.

The coffee wasn’t the best - more like a drizzle of dark stuff followed by hot water. Lighting isn’t bright enough in the bathroom or bedroom. It is very difficult to see and get into the parking lot. You’re entering literally off the highway, and there’s construction in front of the building. It’s hard to see the driveway entrance.
