Our stay at this hotel was a nightmare from start to finish. Not only did we encounter insects crawling around, the staff also demanded a cash deposit without prior notice. On top of everything, the noise from other guests was incessant, making it impossible to get any rest.

The hotel has many rooms but it is gloomy. Probably due to the covid-19 pandemic, not many people stay here. There are two elevators, only one is used. But I also chose to stay at this hotel because it is very close to the mosque. Get the congregational dawn prayers at the mosque. And also close to Kuah jetty. So I do not have to chase for the ferry boarding in the morning. If you want a lively hotel with people and nightlife, can stay at the Pantai Cenang area.

Superb location

Location wise the hotel is in superior spot. Breakfast is very average in my opion. For example there is some bread available, but only butter/jam to add on it. People seemed to have their own hams etc with them. Omelette/Noodles were very good.

Our room had few problems. Ac was very weak, bathroom had so ugly sewer smell whole time so had to make sure door keeps closed. There also was small door between our and next room, so you are able to hear everything clearly from there. Also have earplugs with you, because of the music from beach bar just next to the hotel.

All in all, it is an 3-star hotel which is not new anymore, so keep that in mind when you make the booking.

The hotel has the most amazing position. Breakfast was good. staff were not very helpful. Room was good size but toilet broke and had to be fixed EVERY day. sink clogged. room was quiet and air cond good. On last day wanted huge monies for late checkout but no wear to change for late flight. Downstairs toilet disgraceful.

The hotel is on the water. You have to buy upgraded room to get sea view. There is a small shallow pool good for children. Breakfast is average. The location is close to everything. Very small balcony. Staff very friendly and helpful. Found it a little pricey compared to other hotels in area but it was nice to be on the beach.

On check-in, staff seemed to find it amusing when I was querying the cash deposit; giggling and talking to each other and glancing at us in a very tactless and unprofessional manner right in front of me.

Throughout our stay, we had a number of instances of staff lacking customer service skills. Some staff (especially the guy on duty on Monday night) were lacking in manners altogether and should not be employed in a customer facing role.

Was told we'd be charged money when we asked for an extra towel due to using the ones from the room for the pool. Was told we should have obtained towels from the guys at the pool, however no one told us this when we checked in, and indeed we were given no information at all upon arrival.

No hand towels provided. Was told this is normal policy.

Only one key per room. Reception would not issue any extra.

The guys working at the pool are rude and seem to disappear when we needed towels. Three times we had to go to reception to summon them. No manners at all when attempting to communicate with them.

Upon arrival, the floor was dirty and the rug was in need of vacuum.

Balcony doors wouldn't open or close properly.

The bathroom is a disgrace. No shower curtain. Lots of water goes onto the floor.
The decor is really old and badly in need of decorating. Mold all round the bath, sink etc

Toilet paper not replenished on Monday despite requesting this twice. Had to go down to reception to collect as the receptionist would not deliver.

3 nite Stay was pleasant. Except 1 of our rooms booked Room 117 ( booked 2 rooms) had bad aircondition. Even after technician came twice to check no changes. Request to change room n found out that room 118 too d aircond still not functioning. It was like fan, not aircond so d room was hot. That particular room was unpleasant to stay n sort of spoils our stay. Hope d management change the aircond or compressor as d aircond itself ( in Room 117) is an old one. Tq

I stayed in this hotel earlier about couple of years back in sea view room and liked it. So this time also booked the same for 2 nights but really disappointed with

1. Hotel Stuff - check-in time 3 PM and we reached around 3.10 but room was till not ready had to wait 30 mins. They informed me that check out by 12. So, I asked to extend 30 mins as I check in late by 30 mins. But on the check out date, around 12 they started calling me to heck out ASAP.
2. Toilet is horrible - no ventilation. drain water smell all the while.
3. sea view is now blocked by new restaurant dining place - you will be sitting behind the group of people who is having their food in the restaurant
4. Towels are not very clean but bedsheet and pillow cover was clean
5. It was raining on the 2nd day and the room floor was wet by rain water - had to ask 3 times for about 1 hour in reception for mop. Funny things every time I ask - the response is - \"we double check\" / \"my friend will double check\"
6. on the 2nd day morning realized there is no water in the tap. after informing, they again told \"double check\". it seems the reservoir was empty as no one pay attention.

Our room was just a few steps from the beach and very spacious. However, the music from the night beach parties is incredibly loud. The bass just pounds the night away. It may end as soon as 1am or play until after 4am. If you are looking for a quiet place, this is not your best choice.

The hotel was located along Cenang beach, facing the beach. THe rooms were clean and spacious, and our room had direct access to the beach which was lovely.

The only caveat is that once housekeeping is closed, the hotel cant deliver soap or water bottles, which is a little ridiculous.

Great Location!!

Walk from the hotel straight to Cenang beach where you can find all the water activities and the nice view of the beach and sunset. The other side of the hotel is where you can find all types of restaurants and markets. South of the hotel, there is Cenang Mall, KFC, McDonalds, Pizza Hutt & other typical western restaurants in the area in addition to the other many restaurants on the road. Love the food there!!

overall the hotel is ok.. however after we checked in ..the whole hotel had no water for about 3-4 hours.. shower suddenly stopped working.. and the toiletries only given enough for 1 person..the receptionist is not friendly enough ... the restaurant food is good however they don't accept debit card/ credit if bill <rm100 ( according to bank regulation they can't do this and can be fined if customer complaints )

Me and my wife went back to the country we fell in love with and assumed that this resort probably didn't look the Best from the front but the beach and the rooms definitely made up for it, but we were wrong, our flight was delayed and we got to the hotel for 11.30pm and after waiting at the reception for atleast 10mins we were finally given our keycard, we went to our room and there were no towels the shower was a plastic one and it was not working and the toilet and telephone as well and as the reception was closed already I could not complain or ask for anything so I had to use a top to dry myself after the shower, the next day I went downstairs to complain and they were not apologetic they just said I will get housekeeping to give you some, and the repairs I thought they would just change our room but no. I won't be going back there againw

there was no soap in the toilet of the rooms. when we asked for soap the said they are not providing soap anymore in the hotel . they provide only small bottle of Shampoo and shower gel!!! . I did never visit a hotel or even motel nor providing soap to wash your hand in the toilet !! . this is really weird . the pillows are not comfortable at all and when I ask for extra pillow they asked me to pay for it !! . looks like to maintenance in this hotel . the bathroom ceramic as broken . electric switch broken and out of its space . shower is miserable with very bad water flow . will never stay in this hotel again . the only good thing is the location .

The pool and the beach is just behind it, the view is great. Convenient to everything. But the condition is poor. The cups in room were dirty. The staff were not friendly. No hair drier. Free parking only road side. It's too difficult to a parking lot in the evening in cenang. And only offered two towels per day. If you ask for and extra one, the answer is not. No recommend.

The location is good as it is near to Cenang Mall where you can have drinks at night. It is within walking distance to The Zon duty free. Besides, the hotel is connected to beach at the back. However, if you are renting a car in Langkawi, parking might be an issue when it comes to peak season. The hotel doesn't have dedicated parking for their guests. You have to park by the roadside. The traffic at the area is quite busy.

Beautiful hotel and the pool overlooks the beach. The hotel is very new so they're still lacking in some stuff. If I were to complain it would only be the bedding. My bedsheets weren't tucked in my mattress because they were too short. You could see about 1/4 of the mattress which was kind of weird and dirty to me... And when asked to change it, they tried but It didn't really fix the problem. Also housecleaning didn't change my bedsheets or blankets and there were a lot of stains on them considering it's a new hotel, I don't know what to think. They told me I couldn't get new ones either... Ps. They don't have hair dryers

it is a nice enough hotel in an area of cheapies. the pool is always full of kids so you can't swim in it at all. and the moslem families go in fully dressed then go to their rooms dripping water all through the reception and into the lift. so watch you don't slip. we didn't book breakfast and i wasglad about that.

Shopping + Swimming Pool + Beach = Heaven...!!

1. The hotel's location is excellent as it was right smack in the middle of the entire shopping district.

2. What prompted me to choose this hotel was its swimming pool facing the sea. It has to be one of the few hotels in this district that has a swimming pool facing the sea at ~SG$50+ a night. All the rest that I researched costs me a hand and a leg. I wanted a swimming pool lest the beach got too rough for swimming or that it wasn't as clean as I would hoped it would be. And at ~SG$50 a night, it was a steal.

3. The cistern in my room (#123) was terrible. It was very very noisy and I had to close the toilet door to keep the noise out. Not only so, it took so long to fill up and with that amount of noise, it felt forever.

Location of the hotel is very good. However there are small inconveniences that add up if you are staying for long.
The front desk is not manned 24/7. So if you have a problem between 11pm and 7 am, best of luck.
The pillows are paper thin for some reason and no extra pillows are provided.
The AC takes forever to cool the room because the windows have gaps between the hinges.
The sink in the bathroom is placed too high up to be comfortable to use for an average height person.
There are no electric sockets next to the bed so if you need to charge your devices while in bed you cant.
DONT waste money on the breakfast. Its the worst in the world. They had thin noodles, fried rice and some fish curry, potato slices deep fried in batter, dry scrambled eggs, watery coffe, tea and sliced bread. When i asked the waiter for ketchup, he said they dont have ketchup. When i asked him if they really don't have ketchup in their kitchen, he just stared and said \"he'll check\". Lol. He didnt even pretend to go look he just stood there.
At night we could hear the thumping of loud music from the street and corridoors seem to amplify sound.
Plus side is that the hotel is owned by a group that owns half the properties so they offer discounts to guests for the general mangrove and island hopping tours.
The beach access was great although they remove the sunbeds at 6pm.

Best Star Best Stay!

I couldn't find the hotel as the signboard is dropped due to the thunder storm according to the receptionist. Overall, the room is a bit \"old\" with old design decoration. But the location is a credit for Best Star. The Pantai Cenang is just behind the hotel, we are able to play the jet-ski and parachute and then went back to our room for changing clothes in such a convenient way. The poolside is amazing too, with the view of Pantai Cenang. There is a lots of shop and restaurant along the street. The night life is somehow quite happening. Highly recommended to those who love beaches!!!

Best Star Hotel, Langkawi

We stayed at the Best Star for 2 nights. The hotel has recently been refurbished and was in good condition.

Pros:
+ it is well located on the beach
+ lots of places to eat nearby
+ rooms have adequate space for two people
+ hotel staff friendly and helpful. Young guy at reception was attentive and fulfilled requests promptly
+ nice pool located on the beach
+ back of hotel leads out on to beach

Cons:
- didn't have name of hotel at the front so couldn't find it (maybe due to refurbishment)
- basin in bathroom really high
- room views are blocked by the tin roof of dining area (2nd floor) and facing other rooms.

Overall we did enjoy our stay here and we would recommend Best Star. It is conveniently located on the island and has everything you will need within walking distance. It is right on the beach and is clean. The price was brilliant and will not hit your pocket for a stay on Langkawi Island.

We did not eat at the hotel so we can't give any feedback but we would recommend you try the local restaurants. There is a wide range to suit all tastes; Western, Asian, Arab. All the food on the island is halal so it was perfect for us as we didn't need to worry. Their noodles and fried rice are tasty wherever you go. I will try to upload pictures if I can.

Try the freshly BBQd seafood. Delicious!

Can't wait to go back!

Beach front hotel

The location of the hotel is fantastic and beachfront. Many beach activities and water sports you can enjoy there. Many local and seafood restaurant nearby..

Not Recommended

We were extremely disappointed with our room at Best Star. Although the location was good and the staffs were friendly, the state of the room was appalling. The carpet was soiled and the bathroom was dirty. Cracked toilet seat and the tap on the sink was splashing water in all directions. The TV channels were distorted except one, and it too did not work on the second day. We could not open the curtains as it was next to a passage. We spoke to a couple of guests and they complained about it too. No complaint about the Air-conditioning in the room. The location is good as it is adjoining the beach, and all the restaurants and shopping complex are within walking distance. I will not recommend this hotel as there are better hotels around in Langkawi.

we enjoyed too much because hotel

we enjoyed too much because hotel situated on beach & also there was water festival on beach just outside best star resort. so we enjoyed double upto midnight on beach. Hotel staff & service very good. I recommended for specially for families with children.

Fantastisk utsikt över stranden. Mycket aktiviteter på stranden kvällstid. Tyvärr hög ungdomsmusik som vi inte gillade nattetid.
