The room was quite smaller that the shown on the pictures, unfortunately we didn't had a chance to have. A nice view but the bin area behind the hotel, and quite dark. It wasn't great but not that bad. The shower also was challenging, a small boiler inside the cabinet, no pressure and hard to set the temperature, I would recommend it for families with kids. And the most disappointing part was the Spa, we didn't had a chance to try it, and that was the only reason we book it. I don't know why the hotel is advertised as a spa hotel. It is the first time I am in a hotel where the spa it's not included. If u are going for a short escape and looking for a spa hotel, this is not the one!!!! Ridiculous and very disappointing organisation. Working from 10 to 5 of there is available slot u have to waste your morning to figure out if u can book something for that day. Hotels. Com need to make it more visible and clear that the spa it's optional and limited not on the fourth page hidden info

Great location, with stunning views over Morcombe Bay. Friendly and helpful staff. The grounds are well-maintained and attractive.
The food was fine. Breakfast was an uninteresting standard buffet, but the coffee was excellent.
The downstairs still has character and charm. Upstairs, the rooms need an upgrade, with dull furnishings and walls to match. The bathroom was straight out of the 1970s with an ineffective shower. There is plenty of hot water, and it is spotlessly maintained.
The Netherwood is a good hotel which, with a bit of money spent on it, could become a great hotel

I booked this hotel as a romantic getaway for my partners birthday we stayed in a superior room with a sea view and it was exactly that, absolutely beautiful views the room was small but cosy the bed was more than big enough, and the staff were lovely and nothing was too much hassle. The place itself is beautiful and reasonably priced breakfast was included and we were asked then night before roughly what time we would like it. It was a help yourself full English buffet with a wonderful selection of other breakfast choices too. Checkout wasn’t until 11 which allowed us to have a relaxed morning. Overall I couldn’t recommend the place enough.

The breakfast was excellent both in terms of value and variety.The evening meal wasn’t particularly great.My husband thought his was ok but my cod (ok) was sat on one barely cooked unseasoned potato decorated with some kind of lentil.Both were served on cold plates.we both chose crème Brûlée.Mine was inedible as it wasn’t set.We didn’t stay for a second evening meal.We booked late so I assumed this was why our room was probably the least appealing.32 Very dark and over the kitchen so noisy with a generator going all the time. However,on the plus side the bed was very comfortable as were the pillows.The bathroom was extremely clean and bright.The towels were a very good quality.Fluffy and white.The shower worked perfectly.A lot to commend it.Some staff were smiling some were not.We didn’t visit the spa so cannot make a judgment.The place did lack atmosphere and the dead branches left over ( from a passed wedding I presume) didn’t help.Along with the fairy lights.I hope this has been helpful.

A nice romantic night away

Really beautiful place both the hotel and the location. Staff were all very nice, polite snd helpful which made the stay even more pleasant. The only downside was breakfast, the qaulity of the produce was excellant as i'm guessing was the standard of the breakfast if you were there at the start. I guess part of the problem was our own doing because we decided on a late breakfast towards the end of service, so we found the hot food gad now gone cold. This shouldn't happen so maybe look into better ways to keep the food hot. The rest of the breakfast was really good with a super continental selection. None of this spoiled our stay and we are both looking forward to returning. This place definitly provided that special romantic night I wanted to give my gorgeous wife and dinner was absolutely amazing.

A place that helps you relax and chill

We want to have a night away from home. The Hotel was beautiful in the coastal road and looked impressive. Old style with lots of charm and character. The room was lovely and looked out across the bay. Lovely and clean and a bathroom that had a bath with a shower. Elmis shower wash and hair products. There was a spar that also had Elmis but didn’t use the spar due to the little time we had.
Evening meal in the restaurant was lovely. I had the duck and my husband had the pork.
There was a nice range of drinks especially the gin.
The weather wasn’t great and we had a thunderstorm in the night. The room was hot due to the humid weather. There was a stand alone fan to use if needed.
The bed was comfy and the bedding was crisp and clean. There was a small table with tea and coffee with water and some biscuits. The lounge was beautiful and I felt like I was back in time to an era of after dinner drinks in the lounge. Music played in the back ground and it felt like you could sit and chat in comfort.
The staff were lovely that served us.
I felt like I had been treated like a queen.
Breakfast was a good selection for all your breakfast needs. The scrambled eggs were delicious and the black pudding.
There was an area in the front to sit and admire the beautiful view and gardens.
My husband and I had a wonderful stay and will definitely return but for a few more days next time.

Rooms are very run down and could do with an upgrade, food was very expensive and not worth the money. Staff were very nice and friendly. Bed was uncomfortable and the windows in the room didn’t close properly. It’s a lot nicer on the outside than the inside. Won’t be going back anytime soon.

Lovely hotel position overlooking Morecambe bay. We had a room overlooking the sea which was a bonus. Our only criticism was that the bathroom fittings were somewhat dated, old fashioned shower over the bath and dated basin taps. Having said that it is a period style hotel.

What a disappointment!
We arrived at our room after checking in to find the door was open and being held open by a dirty towel and pillow case. We went down to reception; the receptionist came up took a photograph, apologised and said that the room was actually ready. She removed the towel!
The room appeared clean, but the shower screen had black mould at the bottom, no attempt had been made to clean it. The room and bathroom were cold, the heating had been turned off.
We were going to use the sauna and hot tub, to find that the last entry was 4pm, we checked in at 4:15pm. It does not day about the times on any of the website or information.
The evening meal in the restaurant was poor quality and tasteless.
Breakfast was a buffet! Not as described. We were served porridge which we never ordered. Just found it there.
At checkout, (we stayed one night) I mentioned about the room having the towel holding the door open. She said, “It was maintenance.”
I said “I would expect a free drink or a discount, we have been offered nothing.”
She replied, “We did remove the towel.”
I reminded her that it should never have been like that.
She went to speak to the manager who reduced the bill by £20.
Poor customer service.

The property is great and well maintained. The reception service allocated a very tiny room of just a double bed for 3 of us so that experience was not great. But then later a room service attendant Rain got me a bigger room allocated so thanks to her.

Spa-rce facilities - book in advance!

Booked this hotel via Hotels.com for a birthday night away. Was planning to use the Spa facilities in the afternoon of the day we arrived. However, we were told there was an additional charge, just to use the Sauna and Steam Room (£15pp for 60 mins or £20pp for 90 mins). Hotels.com site does not mention this (but does state Spa treatments are additional charge). We went to the Spa to pay the extra but was told they couldn’t fit us in that day! Birthday treat spoiled!

This old manor home has been a hotel for a long time and it has a certain old world feel. But it's well-managed, comfortable, and the setting is fantastic. We had long walks on the beachfront (it's a unique sandy waterway), blustery rain, and a lovely walk into town for a nice dinner. Don't miss sitting in the lounge/library with a good book looking out over the front lawn. I would love to spend a week here with rainy days and big thick books to read.

This is a beautiful looking property with lovely staff. Unfortunately we were allocated a room in an area of the hotel which was a little tired and there was alot of background noise from kitchen extractor fans. We were moved to another room for the second night by the lovely stag which was perfect. Some of the food and drink options are a little over priced for the quality of what is actually served.

This hotel is in a stunning location. Everywhere was very clean. The room was large and the bed comfortable. However, the bedroom furniture was a bit modern for the age of the house and looked out of place.
Breakfast was excellent quality and choice but we thought dinner was overpriced.
Staff were not rude but not overfriendly. A smile and goodmorning from the breakfast staff would have been nice. If we were in the area we would stay here again.

Beautiful building. Room a bit shabby. Food in the restaurant wasn’t very good and the cheeseboard was not the cheeses ordered, the wine wasn’t the wine ordered. Very small portions. Hit and miss with staff at dining. The one member of staff was very good, he was there for evening meal and breakfast! Didn’t catch his name. Had to wait for room to be serviced by the house keeper which seemed to take forever. Then the lift broke down which didn’t help with my disability. Overall I could cope with the mishaps but the food was the main issue and if you are a foodie you know what cheese is supposed to look like and taste like. It feels any old piece of cheese was put on a plate. My daughter wanted a massage. There was nobody there to cater for her. Not a good experience, but stunning views and location.

This was a last minute booking at I was quite disappointed with my stay, primarily due to the room, The room was quite small and only window faced a brick wall so very little natural light.
Furniture was not in great state of repair, veneer coming off most legs and cracks in coving.
Leaf/dust underneath radiator and plastic cup underneath the wardrobe.
Food was ok, went for bar food.

We were well looked after. The rooms were fantastic, very comfortable, well appointed and the bonus of sea views. The staff were great - very helpful, knowledgeable and sociable. We will definitely stay here again and maybe will bring the dogs next time.
Although we drove it would have been walking distance to the station (although for some the drive may be a bit steep with wheeled bags on the way to the hotel - a lot easier the other way).
There are steps up to reception but a handy lift is well signposted.

All staff were lovely and friendly, offered to allow us to leave bags in storage as we were too early for check in and had arrived by train. Hotel is in a lovely setting, five minutes walk to the town centre and with pretty views over the bay. Didn't get to enjoy the spa facilities as I was travelling with my niece who at 15 was too young (which I understand but would have appreciated if this could have been discretionary.) Inclusive breakfast was very nice, and I would look to stay again if I'm in Grange in the future

From the minute I stepped foot into this Hotel fom the minute I left I felt completely chilled. Big old fashioned building but very comfortable, bright room. Modernised bathroom with shower. All The staff were just lovely. Great food and very reasonanly priced. Lovely spa area. No swimming pool.

Cons:
- On site bar is pretty expensive

- Room 33 tired. Dirty around bath. Noisy corridor sounds. No view whatsoever.

Would recommend the Netherwood to anyone wanting to stay in Grange. The level of customer service is good, as is the cleanliness. The dinner menu was varied. There was a reasonable choice at breakfast time. The hotel is ideally situated just outside the town.

Amazing hotel

Lovely hotel and the staff were amazing we even got a complimentary drink as we were on honeymoon. The spa was very relaxing and enjoyable we paid for the extra hour and it was really worth it. We had the 3 course meal at the hotel and it was absolutely delicious. The view from the room was also beautiful and the room was great value for money.

Character hotel, great views out to sea from comfortable rooms. Breakfast was great also with great views. Spa £15 extra pppn, and needs some work (sauna wasnt up to temperature and hot tubs were room temp).

Great location for access to the Lakes. Especially Cartmel and visits to l'enclume / Rogan and Co. which are only 10-15mins away.

Wonderful staff an greeting.

Such a terrible shame that such an amazing building has been let down by terrible cleanliness conditions. Owners should be ashamed.
My meal of lamb was fine.
However my partner had a fish dish.
Which had been frozen then defrosted.
It tasted terrible just full of water and no flavour.

My parents stayed here 2 years ago! Loved every minute from food,spa,cleanliness but this time they saw a dramatic change for worse! SPA wasn’t working properly but were charged full price. This is a dog friendly hotel but that doesn’t mean they can just run riot over furniture etc! Far too many people which just means it’s lost all character and might class. I fully understand due to Covid businesses are trying to get back on there feet but be careful your not losing your character and selling points

The location and sea views are excellent. The grounds are extensive and well maintained. All staff wre very friendly. Nothing to complain about with the property.
However, the dinner menu was dreadful - very limited and the same every evening. The menu said 'hand cut chips' and I was served a strange block of sliced potato and carrot. The 'artisan' biscuits with the cheese board were three Jacob's cream crackers. After two nights we ate elsewhere.

Location and room was lovely, beds comfy, staff friendly and tentative. The food was lovely served at breakfast and also in the restaurant.
As we were staying for our honeymoon we booked 2 nights and booked a superior room. It says on the description that rooms are soundproofed…..they are not, as we could hear the people next door showering and using the toilet. Also we were woken at 3am both mornings with, what we can only think, was the heating kicking in as it was constant stream of regular banging that happened every 20 seconds that continued for hours.
During check-in we were told our room would not be serviced or get fresh towels unless we requested it; my thought is that we paid exactly the same rate for both nights why wouldn’t the room be automatically serviced etc?! we were left a carrier bag outside our door with a few extra coffee, tea, milk sachets! Surely paying for a superior room should come with some luxury!
The superior room was located above the main door so again we got the sounds of the main door and other customers coming and going, again to quote soundproofed rooms is very inaccurate.
Our second morning breakfast; we waited for 30 mins for our breakfast, staff did apologize for the delay, however as we were eating they cleared all the breakfast buffet away, even though there were still plenty of diners in. Luckily our breakfast slot was 9.30 but those with a time of 9.50 had to be quick!
We had a lovely time, but not superior for the money!

This hotel is at a beautiful location looking across Morecambe bay. Excellent staff service. Covid guidelines followed throughout. Rooms were not cleaned, i imagine this was in following with Covid guidelines but couldn't be sure and certainly not something i expected. I was disappointed with my room. But more than happy with the quality of the breakfast which was of a very high standard.
If you an to stay at this hotel i would advise booking to use the spa before your say as it was fully booked when i arrived, i was extremely disappointed by this as use if the spa was one of the main reasons i chose this hotel.

Hotel looks nice from the outside and in public area but nothing like that in the room. Room was small and bathroom look dated. Woken up in the morning with noises of door smashing, and one morning housekeeping just came into our room with their own keys without even knocking!! Staff coughing in the corridor, didn’t feel COVID safe. Staff in restaurant was not helpful or friendly. Poor value of money.

Overall very pleasant stay .Room very nice but the shower v poor unfortunately not great power or spray which let it down a bit .Also there was an issue at check out regarding a bar bill which I never owed altho that was accepted by the receptionist altho it left a bad taste as to why it was on my bill . But I would stay again as it was, as I said , very enjoyable overall

Wonderful place and people

Not only is the hotel itself breath-taking, but the staff are all excellent. Liam on reception was very patient and professional with us when we were changing our lunch booking, asking questions, and even when we couldn't work out how to lock our room. Charlotte waited on us diligently in the restaurant, even going to the effort of finding out the song that we were listening to for me. The food was exquisite and the spa was such a treat to top off a lovely few days away.

Reception poor in that often unmanned and no welcome on arrival or tour of hotel and facilities.

The hotel followed the covid regulations extremely well. Helpful friendly staff. Disappointed that you had to pay for use of the spa (not talking treatments) given the cost of the room every hotel I ve been in around the world this would be free to guests.Also not happy that the cost of an afternoon tea that we didn't have appeared on the bill , just as well as I reviewed it.

Bank holiday getaway

The stay was very pleasant. The staff worked hard to make the stay enjoyable despite the obvious unusual circumstances COVID 19 has brought with it.
The Breakfasts were great with a good selection available.
We ate dinner at the hotel and again the food was to a good standard. Not everything was available from the wine list but as mentioned previously that was totally understandable.
Overall a great stay in a lovely setting at a reasonable price.

Customer Focus is lacking.

Where to start... we were welcomed by a lady with a cheery wave and hello. When we responded likewise we were told “oh not you I was waving at my husband, he’s picking me up when I finish.” I think that typifies the level of customer focus we subsequently experienced during our brief stay. It was a hot day and when we got to the room the windows were shut and towel radiator in the bathroom was on full blast. The instructions for turning it off were on the wall but they were incorrect. Someone did arrive to turn it off but that didn’t work (switch was broken). We asked for a fan only to be told “I’ll see what I can do but every room wants one and we don’t have enough for every room and anyway it’s really humid so it probably wouldn’t make a difference.” We’d finished our evening meal before the wine arrived. Didn’t stop for breakfast - just happy to get back on the road.

Samll gum but with a good range of kit.

Spa is only open during the day so no good for business travellers.

Good choice in the bar and restaurant.

Comforable and homley style rooms, with a nice view if you get one at the front.
