It was very lovely to stay in the dog-friendly hotel in a quiet location.
The room was relatively small, and during the night, we suddenly heard noises from the drains. They were pretty noisy, and the room was dog-friendly.
Staff members were helpful and friendly, but some did not say hello or good morning and did not even look at guests.
The food was delicious, and we enjoyed dinner and breakfast. We saw the lovely garden from the restaurant.
The swimming pool and gym were not big, but they were lovely. Massages were fully booked when we were there. I should’ve booked earlier. Overall, we had a great time there.

We have stayed here on several occasions and really enjoyed it. However, this visit the room was extremely cold and we had to ask for a blanket- it helped but was still cold. The WiFi signal was appalling- could not get a decent connection which hasn’t happened in previous visits. The breakfast was lovely and the staff very pleasant. After this visit we may not go again

The room was really nice, clean and spacious, the bed was also bigger than a standard double bed, bathroom was nice and spacious with a nice shower and a bathtub, the breakfast selection was nice however I wouldn’t recommend the restaurant of the hotel as we had dinner there one night that was terrible, the worst meal I’ve had in years, we ordered a pork belly for starter that was more fat that pork meat and completely tasteless and the pheasant dish that was absolutely disgusting, dry and tasteless, honestly the worst meal we have had in years which was very disappointing

Overall a very cosy traditional Lakeland hotel. Extremely clean rooms and very pleasant, helpful staff.
Good choice at breakfast. Nice leisure facilities, pool can become overcrowded during school holidays...perhaps a booking system would improve access?
Dining room feels a little austere on the evening perhaps needs some soft furnishings, a bit of tlc.

Liked the exterior, gardens and the loumge with lovely open fire. The modern part was clean but unexceptional. The rooms were large clean and comfortable. An accessible bathroom and walk in shower would have been more suitable for our needs but the bath with inclusive shower would have been acceptable for most people. Overall very comfortable with lovely views over the surrounding countryside.

Disappointing and disinterested

After several previous positive stays, my most recent visit wasn’t great. Rather than leaving a negative review, I thought it was fairer to email the hotel directly, in response to their request for feedback. Despite taking the time to do that, emailing the manager's email, no one bothered to even acknowledge or respond. This used to be a great hotel with excellent service. Not sure if it has changed management, but this is definitely not the case any more.

The hotel room (53) had a broken toilet seat (it fell off) as the hinge was broken. The mini sofa seat in the room had some nasty (curry ?) stains on it so not able to use.
The door lock was quite difficult to close each time we left. We had to slam the door quite hard to get it to lock properly. Other than that the hotel was fine. We were offered other rooms to change to but this room had a better view.

Ver good siting and gardens. On the whole, a very enjoyable stay marred only by the sticky tables in the restaurant! The waiter, who was otherwise very helpful, said the problem appeared to be with the spray used to clean the tables. We had a bit of banter about my being a chemist and so able to solve the issue but really the hotel should deal with the problem. Either they should thoroughly clean the table tops using hot soapy water or methylated spirit or if that does not remove the stickiness, refinish the table tops since the problem will be with the surface lacquer. Whatever solution solves the problem, then the spray cleaner needs to be changed!

We enjoyed staying in the property. We had a car and can visit all the Lake District attractions from the location. The view of the hotel was superb and manage to take some nice snaps. English Breakfast was included and the hospitality was superb. I faced flush issue with the toilet but the hotel has resolved the issue within quick turnaround time. Very impressed with the quick resolving of this issue. The room service was also good with general toiletries, room cleaning and towels changed on a daily basis.

I would like to extend my thanks to the hotel management for making our holiday memorable.

This hotel is set in its own grounds which is very nice to spend time some time in on a nice day.

My room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom had an excellent showera. It was very hot and the windows only open a few inches, no AC so on a hot day trying to sleep was uncomfortable.

I had dinner at the hotel and it was decent, a bit overpriced for the quality though. Breakfast was good overall.

Overall I would recommend this hotel.

Really great staff and dog friendly!

Had a short break at the Damson Dene and they were really brilliant accommodating me and my older dog. We got a ground floor room with lots of space for her bed and things.

Pros: Geat wifi and the water pressure in the shower was amazing. Lovely gardens. Very helpful staff. Plentiful breakfast buffet (basic fried selection and cereal etc)

Cons: Slightly unloved decor. Food in the restaurant was hit and miss.

A lovely stay at the Damson Dene Hotel

We had a great 6 day stay at the Damson Dene. All the staff are super friendly. Had a couple of SPA treatments with Sharon, they were amazing and so reasonable priced. The food in the hotel was superb. The breakfast was plentiful and the evening meals were delicious. The only issue we had was with housekeeping. Over the six days we were there they only made up our room twice. Once we did put the \"do not disturb\" up as my husband wasn't feeling great. I had to request for them to go in on day 5 and then again they didn't go in on day 6. The hotel did apologise but it was very frustrating.

Poor consideration for family, given a room way farside corner, guests with dogs were neighbours, dogs kept barking and couldnt sleep well. Corridor carpet had dog poop not cleaned for hours. If not booked for breakfast/dinner the wait time is 1 hour. Staff not friendly. Pool & jacuzzi substandard.

We chose this hotel as we wanted a quiet night away not too far from home and away from the busy tourist areas and it didn’t disappoint. It’s hard to judge a place on a quiet weeknight in November but we had a lovely stay. The room was lovely and clean with everything we needed. Dinner was great even if very quiet but to be expected this time of the year. Breakfast was freshly cooked and a large range of things in the buffet. Plenty of fresh coffee offered at regular intervals. All the staff we met were so nice and friendly and professional.

As I have worked in hotels and most recently as a housekeeper I notice any little things that are often overlooked but I was fully relaxed and everywhere was clean and tidy and there was nothing that would put me off from going there again.

A fabulous place to stay whilst exploring the lakes. Lovely breakfast with glorious views. Leisure and gym small and needing a little bit of a refresh but a nice option to have. Views are stunning, food good and bar good but a little pricey, but given Windermere is about 20 minutes away and taxis are pricey, it seemed a sensible option to stay put. Overall a great place.

The property was easy to find. Parking was easy. Got a friendly welcome. Breakfast was ready before time which was really helpful as we had to leave quickly. The room was a bit difficult to get in to as there was a bedside stand as soon as you open the door so had to negotiate around it everytime I entered & exited the room.

It may be a 3 star hotel but service is 5 star - incredibly helpful and friendly staff and impeccably clean everywhere. It's a lovely quiet spot too - looking out onto the gardens and surrounding rural area from the bar and restaurant is really nice. The only things letting it down are the older decor in the rooms (although the bed was very comfy with lovely bedding) and the fact that the walls are very thin (I could hear neighbours talking and TVs, and bathroom usage), plus I had a basin that wouldn't drain and a weak shower, but this is why it's classed as 3 star I suppose. The other let down was the dinner food which was a bit odd and overpriced with strange, over-elaborate menu choices, although I had a couple of great starters. Breakfast was better but I would still have preferred more simple choices - the Sunday buffet was best as I could have any combination of cooked breakfast I wanted. But these are small concerns when overall it's great value for money and has a lovely vibe. And I didn't get to try the spa and gym facilities - next time!

When we arrived they tried to charge extra than quoted for the room. The room was small and dated very average for the price. We stated we had 2 dogs before arrival and still got a small room.
The food and drinks were ok. Nothing above average.
We asked to have our deserts in our room. There was a £5 extra charge for this
Again when checking out. Extra chargers were added that we had paid for.
Just ok room and food. Could probably get better for the price.

We had one night at Damsen Dene and had a really lovely evening. The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was good and reasonably priced. Unfortunately the shower didn't work very well at all, and we were charged more than the price quoted for the room, maybe for our two little dogs. We mind too much as it is in a beautiful spot, and very easy from the motorway.

Staff were very courteous, don’t be afraid to ask for a different room if you are not happy. the first room I was allocated was not to my liking at all….
No view, directly onto flat roof with air con unit running outside, I asked the receptionist and given a choice of two other rooms and was moved to room number 3.
Now this room was a little smaller but it was warm, had character nice furnishing, 4 poster bed very comfortable and a spa bath. Very clean.
Food at the hotel was very good. Plenty of gardens to walk the dog.

Loved this hotel, can’t fault it. We had a superior room in the new wing, nice and spacious and bathroom was fab.

We made good use of the pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room. The gym is a little tired but machines are useable.

The grounds are nice for sitting outside in good weather and there’s a cute little model village on site which is a nice little extra (tokens at reception).

Breakfast was pretty good. Staff in bar/restaurant were all really lovely and even though they were obviously exceptionally busy over bank holiday weekend everything ran really smoothly.

Amazing location

Excellent property, fantastic facilities, could have stayed a lot longer than one night! Beautiful surroundings, great choice of food and drinks, beautifully cleaned room. So close to Windermere and other locations, but felt so far away from all the hustle and bustle! Highly recommended property for couples, groups and families.

Decent Hotel in need of refresh

Nice Hotel but in need of some updating, especially outside. Walls grimy in places and window frames badly need repainting.
My room was a little cramped but ok. Main issue was lack of decent blinds / thick curtains to block out early morning light.

Staff really friendly clean and comfortable room food really good for gluten free lots to choose from. Nice relaxed atmosphere. I ate in the bar wasn’t a problem. I left too early for breakfast but was offered a gluten free packed meal. Nice touch.

A lovey stay

Very nice hotel 10mins away from Bowness. Helpful and very friendly staff. Delicious food in the restaurant.
The only negative was the cold water in the pool.
