Shower rather than bath, which is quite common nowadays.
Still unsure about the self-check-in and number keypads, but the staff (owner?) were on site during our visit and were lovely.

Just enjoyed a 3 nights stay. Absolutely gorgeous accommodation, tastefu decor and really spacious. We arrived and the hallway had the most gorgeous smell, our room was absolutely spotless and had a lovely homely feeling. A gorgeous giraffe lamp in the Snug! The bathroom was really clean and great products. We will definitely visit again and highly recommend to friends. Also the position is perfect and we had onsite parking.

Latimer House is in the perfect location for Bowness & Windermere. The property has 5 parking places on a first come first basis (the accommodation has 7 rooms) but the block has many free parking available and so parking was no problem at all.

Latimer House was easy to find, with parking available on site and well located, communication ahead before arrival was helpful and responed quickly to a question I had. The room was bigger than expected, modern, clean and quiet, check in was simple with clear instructions for the digital locks. We will be returning in the future.

Lovely stay and i would highly recommend it. Clean, quiet, and nice pillows. The only problem we had was when I booked I booked with parking knowing we would have a car. There is only 4 parking spaces so if you come in after 5 or maybe earlier you will be parking on the side streets (no parking in front) which wasn't the best for us as we are seniors and carrying luggage up and down hill can be challenging.

A lovely Easter weekend stay at Latimer House

We had a fantastic stay at Latimer House in Bowness. The location is ideal—just a short walk from the town centre, which made it easy to explore the area without needing the car. Our room was clean, comfortable, and felt like a real home away from home.

We visited over the Easter weekend and were delighted to find Easter-themed truffles waiting for us on arrival—a thoughtful and charming touch that made the stay feel extra special.

Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a cosy base in Bowness with great access to everything the Lakes has to offer.

3rd stay here for us

This is our 3rd stay at Latimer House, and it’s perfect for us. The location is good and the rooms are big enough. The only problem we encountered this stay was the radiator wouldn’t heat up fully so of a morning the room was very cold, the radiator probably just needs bleeding but in 3 years we have stayed here that’s the first problem we’ve ever had. The bed as always was very comfy and the tv allows you to log into your Netflix and Amazon prime account which is nice. There is no check in procedure here which we love, you get sent your room number and entrance codes an hour or so before check in time and you just let yourself in there’s no waiting in queues to go through check in. We will 100% be back again.

Okay stay, but could be better

Positives: Room was clean and tidy and very spacious. Well located in Bowness, only a short walk to bars/restaurants and the lake. Plenty of free parking in the overflow carpark too. Check in was easy, no issues with codes getting in etc.

Negatives: Mattress was quite uncomfortable, could feel a lot of springs when moving around, although bedding was cosy enough. Room was not sound proof, so heard every noise from other guests, which unfortunately were very noisy in the middle of the night - we were located on the ground floor so may have been different upstairs with no one above us banging about and shouting. Bathroom was clean, but very cold and a bit tired.

Overall our stay was okay. The guesthouse was considerably cheaper than other b&bs, so probably provides a good base for an evening, but wouldn’t be inclined to stop for multiple nights again.

Unusual cottage. No kitchenette. Not allowed food in the cottage. No WiFi even though the host put the password in the book and via text message.
Tv channels are limited.
Spa bath is a nice touch but not enough hot water to fill it. Shower was nice once the hot water was restored in the morning…
Sofa was so worn it had zero padding. Broken/cracked mirrored drawers and bedside table so posing sharp cut risk to people staying.
Bed was comfy enough which was something.
Wouldn’t come back.

Property was in a good location not far to walk up to Windermere or down to bars and restaurants, small amount of parking. Stayed in the coach house. Check in was good. Cleanliness of banister there was settled dust, cracks in the cabinets. TV quality wasn’t great. Bathroom shower was good. Heating wasn’t an issue at all, warm in November. overall was a good stay. On the last night we got back late and car park isn’t lit very well my partner fell walking from the coach house to the car, there is a big drop which should be lit where it slopes down next to the garages, which did dampen the stay. Takeaway policy seems excessive after being out walking all day and booking that sort of place you would expect to be able to relax in the space of you wanted too.

All in all the stay was fine the location was great and we had parking included, just a few little niggles, we had no tea bags on our tea tray, only one bath sheet was provided so my husband had to use hand towels to have a shower and it was a little noisy when people were coming in the building and going to their rooms

The location was a 5 minute walk from the lake, bars and restaurants. Although no host is on site, the hotel is extremely secure. We will defiantly stay again. Thankyou so much for a fabulous stay.

OK stay. Bathroom looked good but there were no hooks or towel rail so nowhere to put towel near the shower. The electric mirror was completely useless to anyone of my height - 5ft 3ins - as it was hung too high.
Heating was very limited, late afternoon only, so cold in the morning.
No control over ventilation.
Woken by front door banging late at night & middle of the night.

Great as a base camp if you’re in the Lake District for walks etc. Only thing we’d change is not being allowed take aways in the room, we understand why but it made us eat out for all meals which isn’t ideal for a budget break. But as I said above, location is ideal and offers lots of choice for restaurants and cafes etc. No complaints about the property and would definitely return!

We stayed at the cottage house which is outside the main building. It was very spacious and has an indoor jacuzzi tub which is why we booked it. The hot water is pre-heated, so it was just enough to fill the tub. There won’t be hot water after if you wanted a shower. Also, an important downside for us was the wifi signal is so weak that neither our phone nor laptops could pick any signal. Was a bit disappointed in that regard as the hotel is aware of the problem but made no effort to fix it. Close proximity to shops and the lake though!

Great stay at Latimer House. We booked because of the brilliant price but wow it was an amazing room, one of the best I’ve stayed in, in the UK. There was a gorgeous second room with a lovely sofa. I wish we had stayed longer. Great location, very clean and easy parking which they were happy for us to use before check-in. Entry was keyless and didn’t require any effort.

A great find!

We really enjoyed our short stay at Latimer House. The bedroom (room 5) was roomy and very clean, as was the en-suite bathroom. Access was easy using the code provided, and the owner was very helpful when we rang her about parking. All in all, an excellent find and very reasonable, we certainly hope to return again!

The jet tub was a nice addition to the room and the bed was very comfy. The only trouble was there was a green light shining brightly from a box attached to the ceiling which made it difficult to sleep. However apart from this we enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is really lovely, well presented and modern. First hotel ive ever stayed at without a reception but it didnt affect the stay. There wasnt a wardrobe which was strange but for one night stay we didnt need one. The shower was confusing, if you turned it on fully, it was really cold and couldnt figure out how to get it warm. Location was great.

the location was incredible and the room was insane. A heads up there is no smoking at all on the premises, even if you have a room with a courtyardy space. you can also not have any takeaways, so it's not a place for a quiet night in. it suited us perfectly for what we needed for one night, but due to these 2 conditions reckon it is just a night thing. the toilet saniflow scares you at first with the noise but the toilet was so incredibly clean and spacious.

Overall comfort great shower kept going hot and cold as seemed to be affected by water use in other rooms. Bathroom needs a towel rail and somewhere to put toiletries as no cupboard or shelf for this. Asked for extra milk sachets by text as instructed was told no house keeping until 10.30 am so we had to go out for milk so we could make a drink - when I chased up the milk later was told it had been left on hall table. No attempt was made to clean our room on second day of our stay. We had to park on a nearby street as it was unclear where the overflow car was.wouldn’t stay here again as felt ignored really

We stayed in The Coach House which was lovely warm and cosy.
It had all you needed for a short stay.
The sitting room area was ideal, nice to have the space, the bedroom had a low ceiling so if you are tall mind your head, thw bathroom was spacìus and had a spa bath ideal after a days walking
Parking was onsite and with it being the bank holiday we were able to park near the door which was a bonus
The location is good, short walk (5-10 mins down to the bars, restaurants and the lake.
The host was welcomng although with it being a short stay our room wasnt serviced while we were there but we were left with plenty of towels etc

would not recommend staying in the double room

I would not recommend staying in the double room if you are a couple it is a single room at best. There is 2 chairs and a tiny table. There is no where to safely plug in the kettle, unable to get ready properly due to size of the room and no where to place your toiletries.The private bathroom was no where near the room and was not private anyone could use it and the sink and toilet clean but the toilet door was really dirty, the shower room also had no where to please your toiletries, clothes or get yourself ready also could have done with a deep clean the shower trap was disgusting, as for our room there was years worth of dust on the top of the door frame, top of the wardrobe and the TV had more dust behind it than was safe, did not mention the window which could not be opened and had a 3inch gap in the window which had broken glass. The room was not quite sound proofing lacking did not help being woken up at 12.30am to then until 2.00am the people talking, opening and shutting wardrobe doors, drawers and just making a lot of noise, I really wished we had gone home that night instead of staying another night was disappointed the minute we open the door. Would not every stay here really wished there was a vacancy at the last guest house we stayed as that was cheaper and way nicer. There should be at least a lounge area come dinning area in a guest house not a place were there are all bedroom rooms not worth £219 paid.

Nice little guest house. Perfect location to spend time in Bowness/Windermere. It was clean and good value for money. The hosts were welcoming and attentive and the room was very well decorated and pretty. The house has a few issues with drainage and was difficult to keep the room temperature constant but it was particularly cold when we stayed, all in all happy with what we got for what we paid. Takeaways are not allowed in the house.

Lovely stay, friendly staff

Lovely location only a short walk to the lake. Room was very spacious, lovely seating area outside leading out of the room. Meet and greet, very friendly and helpful. Breakfast delivered to your door on morning consisting of bacon sandwich, croissant, yoghurt, water, juice, very nice. Only little thing was the shower was hot but not very powerful and the bathroom has no where to store your toiletries, could have done with a shelving unit. Overall we did have a lovely stay.

Nice stay but breakfast wasn’t too nice

Friendly host, check in was smooth and easy. The room was clean and okay. Little things like shelves, safe and cupboard would have made it nicer. Breakfast in paper bag was disappointing

Absolutely Brilliant.

Beautiful accommodation to stay in while you visit Windermere, the location is perfect and the room brilliant. We were made very welcoming and my partners dietary needs were catered for.
Under the current circumstances all requirements were adhered to a very high standard, we were made to feel safe and welcomed.
I would most definitely stay here again and would highly recommend anyone else to as well.

Latimer house is a very nice the things that let it down are the lumpy beds, flat pillows and waiting for hot water to wash your hands is very tedious
