Breakfast was excellent the best mushrooms I have ever eaten. Room was very clean. I was slightly disappointed with the mattress as it was not the most comfortable mattress I've slept on. The home made cake was beautiful. I would stay again but not in the same bed.

The location was excellent...quiet and beautiful ....Windermere has everything from supermarkets to craft and walking gear shops, pubs to a variety of restaurants. We parked the car in front of The Hideaway, it was just a few minutes walk into the town, and we could also easily drive out to other locations. The breakfasts were excellent (with very good veggie/vegan alternatives) served by super efficient and very friendly staff. We would definitely book here again.

We stayed at The Hideaway for 3 nights in August. Unfortunately the weather was very changeable so we couldn’t enjoy the outside surroundings very much as took advantage of the dry parts to explore. The room was quite small but still ok for us. The breakfast options are wonderful! Nothing was ever too much trouble if you wanted to exchange certain breakfast items and we were honestly so full we didn’t eat until the evenings. Everyone was very friendly and having a piece of cake every day was a lovely little treat. It was a nice walk into Windermere and also Bowness-On-Windermere if you can. The hop on/off bus can be caught at the station if you want to travel around which we did. The Lake District is just beautiful and we very much enjoyed our visit. The only thing we would say is that maybe the communal area could be a little brighter, with maybe less furniture to make it a more pleasant place to relax.

The Hideaway is exactly that. A perfect, peaceful Windermere bolthole on a quiet, non-through road. From our spacious room (room 7) on the top floor, there was the treat of ever changing land and skyscape views, including a couple of spectacular midsummer sunsets, from a lovely little window seat.
Lisa, Richard and the rest of the team are super friendly and have worked hard to make guests feel so welcome and make sure they leave rested, rejuvenated, and full of cake! Yes, from check in and at each breakfast we were all offered a choice of homemade cake slices! Perfect treat with a coffee at the end of a day exploring the area.
Choose The Hideaway if you find all of this irresistible, but also for its location…5 min walk from the station, and several road and woodland routes (one with a waterfall) down to the lake (20-30mins depending on which way you go). There’s also a bus stop nearby for trips out to Ambleside and beyond.
We don’t get to the lakes as often as we like, but next time we do, we will definitely be staying here again.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Hideaway at Windermere! The location was very convenient to the local train station, tour bus starting point and local restaurants. The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable for my daughter and myself. It also has a comfortable library with lots of comfy chairs that was great for me to use when having some insomnia. The garden area was also lovely to use. The best aspect of our stay there was the wonderful breakfasts, ranging from full English to yogurt and fruit, with pots of coffee or a variety of teas. Friendly owners and staff. Would 100% stay there again!

Hi my husband and I just got back from staying at The Hideaway hotel in Windermere. The hotel itself is a charming building with lots of character. Plenty of room for parking. When we got there Lisa introduced herself and we did the paperwork after which she gave us a lovely piece of cake each!

Later we took a short walk into the small village of Windermere which was nice with some good shops. Later that day we went to Bowness and shopped at the town there. Some super restaurants and Cafés. The Lake itself was beautiful especially Sun shining. We did go on a boat trip which was enjoyable and great scenery. Anyway we were really pleased with what we saw of The Lakes.
The breakfast on the two mornings were faultless. Staff attentive and helpful. The food was absolutely lovely. Poached eggs on Sourdough toasted!! Again each day we had a choice of slice of cake . Thanks to the Hotel staff we had a really nice experience of the whole time we stayed. Well worth visiting. Quiet and peaceful at night, also on immaculate beds couldn't ask for more !!

A great find in the Lake District. The hotel was easy to find down a quiet street in Windermere. The room was cosy and clean and while compact (as described) it had everything we needed with the complimentary slice of cake each day a welcome bonus. We requested some of the extras they offer, the petals and the chocolate covered strawberries, and these were ready on arrival alongside the cakes they prepare daily for guests. We absolutely loved the cakes and the strawberries were delicious!
The staff was incredibly nice and friendly, helping us with recommendations and frequently checking in with us.
The breakfast was also delicious, with various options on the menu, from full English to cereals and pastries. Everything was made to order so we had fresh breakfast every day. The service was very attentive as well.
There was also loads of parking space, out of the way of the roads, so we had no worries about the car.
We had room 8 and we had everything we needed for the stay. The hand towel though was awkwardly placed, around hip height, so that you had to bend down every time you wanted to dry your hands. The room, overall, was a bit small, but for a short stay, it was fine. We found the bed to be quite firm, but we adjusted on the second night.

An absolutely lovely property situated far enough out of the way so it is quiet, but only a 5 minute walk to the shops and bars in Windermere. Room was fairly small but absolutely spotless and in mint condition with lovely views. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, with several options for the main and cereal, toast, fruit, yoghurt and either a croissant or cake. We were also given a home made cake on arrival which was really nice. Service was friendly and attentive. Plenty of parking and a nice garden to sit in outside for sunnier days or a nice living room when the weather isn’t as nice. Would definitely stay here again.

The Hideaway is located only a 5 minute walk from the village centre and a 20-30 minute walk down to the ferry and all the cafes, pubs and restaurants at Bowness. The room was immaculate and had everything we needed. However, the most memorable feature was the breakfast which was the best we have ever had, the choice was excellent. To top it all there was a choice of home made cake everyday to take with you for your walk. I would definitely stay there again.

We were made to free really welcome during our stay by Richard and his team. We were served a delicious breakfast everyone morning and given amazing homemade cake daily. I had such a restful and peaceful seven night stay, filled with fantastic breakfasts with everything you could possibly ask for. The room is in great condition, is clean and has all the amenities. I loved walking around the area and then to Bowness-on-Windermere which is about a 30 minute walk from the b'n'b or you can catch a variety of buses from Windermere Train Station, to other towns and lakes in the Lake District.

Lovely hotel with pleasant, friendly staff. Great location on a quiet private road, with ample private parking. Approx. 1 mile walk into Bowness. Food at breakfast was cooked fresh to order, good selection but staff happy to make up pretty much any combination we asked for. Clean and comfy room, with en suite…nice, large shower. We booked the mini comfy room so not loads of storage/hanging space but was fine for our 4 night stay. Lovely touch in that fresh made cake offered to overnight guests each day which we can highly recommend!! Overall would definitely stay again! Thanks for making our stay in Windermere so pleasant!
