He absolutely loved the Hotel. He said the Hotel itself was lovely and the breakfast was gorgeous!

Lovely hosts and welcome, we were able to check in early which was really appreciated on a cold day in January.
Everything was sparkling clean, and the cooked breakfast and other breakfast options were all really good quality. Cherry on the cake was the included use of leisure facilities at the Old England. Really enjoyed our stay and plan to return.

We had a lovely two-night stay. The house is very nice, our room was warm, spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent with lots of options.
The location was excellent for Bowness shops, bars, cafes and restaurants, plus Lake Windermere too, with a 10-minute walk.

Oakfold house is convenient located in Bowness on Windermere, a mere 2-min walk to bus-stops going towards the pier or to Grasmere. We had also walked 15 mins to the pier and 15 mins to Windermere town centre.Its proprietors, Chris & Robin are attentive and hospitable hosts who ensure we have a pleasant and memorable stay in Windermere, giving us advice to make our way around. They also ensure we start the day with a hearty breakfast of our own choice. Their guest lounge is a Iovely place to relax after a day out.

Perfect Windermere Stay

Great place to stay! We had a lovely break and stayed here for New Years, the location is amazing (10 min walk to the main Bowness area) and the service by the team was exceptional. We will definitely be staying here again on our next visit to the lakes.

Great stay for 2 nights. Check in was easy. Though the room for 3 persons was a little tight, it was cosy with adequate walking space. Just be mindful that opening of big luggage could be a challenge in the limited area. Breakfast options were great and hosts were most friendly. Certainly a recommended accommodation in Windermere. Within walking distance to restaurants, shops and shopping. Love it!

Can’t wait to return!

We had a lovely stay and were met by Robyn and Chris, who were willing to accommodate us dropping our bags off early. It was a really lovely surprise to find our bags in our room when we returned later!

The room was really comfortable with all of the little luxuries that we’d need and extras available in the guest lounge if we needed them.

Breakfast was delicious and had everything we could possibly want. Lovely fresh local produce too!

We’d love to stay here again and would recommend to friends and family.

We loved everything about Oakfold House. The quiet yet close to everything location, the beautiful room and view from our room, delicious breakfast. Easy access to buses to explore the many towns around the lake, as we did not have a car. Chris and Robyn were extremely helpful and lovely to chat to - cannot recommend highly enough.

Couldn’t fault a thing!

Stayed here for 2 nights in the middle of the week, in winter so I imagine it was much quieter than it will be in the summer. Hotel was absolutely superb- extremely comfortable, clean, with a relaxing atmosphere. It is decorated very well, lovely art on the walls, very tasteful. We stayed in the smallest double room available- a really cosy attic room- and we did not find that the size was an issue, it did not feel cramped. At night it was very quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was also delicious- there are definitely options for everyone- and the extras (such as some free fudge and teas and hot chocolate for the room) were very much appreciated. Staff were lovely and welcoming- all in all a really enjoyable experience! Hopefully we will be returning there one day.

We were allowed to check in early , 2pm. The accommodation is very convenient for a stroll to Bowness. Clare was very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Room was clean and very comfortable. Breakfast had lots of choice on the pre order and was lovely and hot when served. I left a shirt in the room and Clare even messaged me to get my address to post it onto me. Would definitely recommend.

Clare and Robert were superb and attentive hosts, really made you feel at home. They provided fantastic recommendations for hikes, restaurants and activities. Breakfast in the bright drawing room with a large picture window overlooking the garden was hardy, with choices from full English to vegetarian to light fare. Impeccably clean throughout. Relaxing garden, comfortable, quiet room - couldn’t have hoped for better!

Incredible hosts,lovely couple, beautiful rooms,absolute quality bedding and mattress, spotlessly clean and well maintained throughout ,breakfast really good, maybe smokey bacon not for me but that's me being picky,really can't fault our stay,good location for windermere or bowness, but the walk back from bowness is up a steep hill but there's plenty of parking space near the lake

Extremely friendly and helpfull owners who made us very welcome despite arriving early. We booked quite late in the year and were able to accommodate us for 3 nights. We had the last available room which was a little cramped but did not affect us at all. It was a 10 minute walk to Bowness and within easy reach of all facilities, restaurants etc. Can happily recommend.

Another fantastic stay !!

This was our second stay at Oakfold House B & B and, as per last summer, our family received a very warm welcome from the owners, Rob and Claire. On this occasion, we chose the ground floor family room and were most impressed by the decor, size, bathroom and comfort of this room. The traditional English breakfasts were fantastic as usual, piping hot and plenty to choose from. The location of Oakfold House is ideal and only a short 5 minute walk into the centre of Bowness-on-Windermere. We highly recommend this B & B, and will definitely be booking again.

Very friendly reception from Clare and Robert. A very clean and comfortable stay with a great breakfast. There were clear guidelines about the Covid safe meaures being undertaken and precautions like hand sanitiser available. The single room is small but well furnished and decorated and suited my needs well for a good value room for a solo walking weekend. Location is convenient for those reliant on public transport to get around.

Oakfold House was such a great place to stay. The pictures really don’t do it justice. Great location for both walking into Windermere and to the lakeside at Bowness, and near lots of great restaurants. The hosts were lovely and welcoming, and the breakfast was amazing. It was such great value, to be honest I think they could charge slightly more and it still be good value.

Great Place!

Oakfold House was absolutly wonderful for the late May bank holiday in the Lake District. Easily walking distance to the Lake, Bowness and Windermere gives you the option of both towns for resturants and shops. There is also a bus stop a stones throw from the front door. Breakfast was lovely and very customizable to strike your fancy. My train arrived about an hour delayed and they were very flexible with me when it came to check in and let me leave my bags there after I had checked out while I was out for the day before I headed back to London. The owners were very friendly and I would highly recommend Oakfold House to anyone looking for a place to stay while in the Lake District!

The hotel is in a good location for Bowness, the owner was welcoming and the room was spacious and the ensuite was also of a good size. The room had real coffee and penguins, a nice treat. The breakfast was OK, the black pudding was dry was my only criticism.

We stayed in a family room for a couple of days during a visit to the Lake District. On the positive side, the breakfast is cooked to order and there is a choice of several options; the food was great, and the service was good in general. Wifi was fast enough too. The area is conveniently situated within a very short distance from all the local shops and cafes near the Windermere lake. Negatives: small room (by the family room standards), very cold bathroom (it did not help the towel rails were out of order too), no heating during the night time. Parking can be problematic at busy times.

Home away from Home! Amazing.

I wanted a place to stay which would be comfortable, as it was my plan to spend the majority of my time in the Lake District indoors and away from the busyness of London. Oakfold house very much catered for this and beyond. Extremely warm and friendly managers, extremely clean room and very well located- not too far from Windermere station nor the bay.
I’ve stayed and visited many hotels, in Africa, Europe and Asia, and Oakfold House has been by FAR the cleanest and one of the most welcoming.
The only quip I had was with the heating. The house is centrally heated, which wouldn’t have mattered to someone who was spending most of the day outdoors, but as I was indoors mostly, it did get a bit cold at certain times. However I soon adjusted after the first day.

I’d recommend ANYONE to stay here upon their visit to the Lake District. I stayed in the single room which was small but adequate for one person. The bathroom was clean and spacious enough and the breakfast was delicious, fresh and filling.

The hospitality of the managers makes Oakfold house what it is; a place that stands out from the rest. I was half an hour early to check in but was permitted to check in and upon checking out I was able to leave my luggage whilst I went on a cruise.

I look forward to staying here again if I ever have the opportunity to visit the Lake District again.

Stayed a couple of days and loved it. The couple who run the B&B were warm, inviting, welcoming and helpful.

The room was also warm and homely. The shower was nice and spacious. The bed was nice and comfy too.

5-10 minutes walk away from Bowness-on-Windermere lake that boasts some amazing views.

A wonderful stay in a lovely BandB the owners were great breakfast very good. Ideal location for bowness and Windermere. Bus stop at the end of the road for travel to ambleside and Grasmere etc. Great advice for food and drinks given by the owners can't recommend it enough
