My second visit to Glencree was just as wonderful as the first. The room was spotlessly clean and incredibly comfortable. Our host really made us feel welcome and looked after us brilliantly. It's definitely a place I'll be returning to!

Tablet in room didn't work properly on first night, so didn't know options so no order sent, got a full English which was very good, Tablet was replaced but we didn't notice until we were told next morning, was very disappointed with size of room, especially as there was an extra charge for the room we choose, very nicely dressed, but the cushions had to be set on floor leaving even less floor space.

We had a nice stay at Glencree. Ian is a good host and provided good service at breakfast. We stayed in the romantic room with balcony, and was provided a bottle of Prosecco in the room which was a lovely touch. The room is very small and we needed to remove a lot of the bed cushions/throw into cupboards as there wasn’t much room to leave them elsewhere off the bed. The balcony is really nice overlooking a stream. Shower was okay with nice The Lakes toiletries.
For me a small downside (as I’ve noticed in a few B&Bs in the lakes) is not being greeted on check-in, and this is a downside to proprietors living off-site. It was good though that Ian served breakfast, as we couldn’t get our tablet to work in our room, it would have been good to have a menu of options available for food at breakfast table. I’ve stayed in other B&Bs with more of a range of food but the food ordered did taste good and accommodated gluten free. Cleanliness: Bedding had a stain on when we arrived but to be fair we arrived slightly before check-in and the final “once over” hadn’t been done so this might have been caught if we’d arrived later and the bedding changed. When we notified Ian he was round in 5 minutes to sort the issue. Some of the blinds could do with a bit of a deeper clean. Bathroom was very clean.

The only good thing of this place was the comfortable. For the rest unfortunately our experience wasn't positive. The pillows were uneven, the bathroom was quite dirty, so was the floor. The room was really small and we could barely walk through having two small suitcases on the ground. We arrived late so we had no one to complain about and look for a different room.

We have just come back from a beautiful, comfortable stay at Glencree. Ian is a fantastic host and communication was very easy. To our surprise, we were upgraded to a suite which was absolutely stunning! The guest house is about a 10 minute walk from everything (including the lake) so brilliant location. Waking up to the sound of the running stream outside was one of the highlights, so peaceful! Breakfast was very well ran, and the food was lovely. For our first trip to the Lake District we couldn’t have chosen better and I think we’ve found our go-to place! Thank you!

We stayed at Glencree for 2 nights, our first time in the Lake District. We couldn’t have wished for a better break away! What a beautiful guesthouse we had the small room with the balcony the room is small but very clean and comfortable, the toilet again was beautiful. The only improvement needed was to put some sort of canopy or umbrella on the balcony as you can’t sit outside if it rain’s.

We stayed at the hotel for a couple of nights as a getaway. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and modern too. The service was excellent and Ian really cared about his guests stay. This is a lovely place to stay as it is right in between Windermere town and Bowness-on-Windermere. Ideal for walking to both. Hosts have only recently taken over but are brilliant. The only misgiving i would have is that rooms 4 & 5 are accessed by a wrought iron spiral staircease. I didn't see any reference to this when i booked. It wouldn't be ideal for anyone with mobility issues. Overall a nice stay.

Comfortable, the English breakfast was good and sufficient for me. Parking at the door, WiFi worked well, Windermere town centre not too far away and an easy walk down to Bowness. I was there for the walking, and the owner, who is also a walker, gave me some good directions.
