Everything they offered was fine - however there was no hairdryer making the shower irrelevant, and no bedside glasses for night-time drinks although the tea/coffee cups could be repurposed. A few issues at check-in but they were dealt with well by the staff. So fine, but a few things could be improved.

Travelling with 4 year old daughter, very good stay, stayed for one night to visit family in Kendal, less than 10 mins drive away, large comfortable room, clean and nicely presented, good sized bed and comfortable, shared bed with daughter, large room was unexpected and ideal for her to play, smart decor throughout, didn't eat in bar so can't comment of food but the continental breakfast included although fairly basic was decent and a good selection of options (cooked breakfast you needed to order and separate charge). Small play park outside was also very nice. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

The food (££’s priced) was well cooked / presented and above the standard we have encountered in similar PH’s. The included Continental Breakfast was reasonably extensive and provided a good start to our day.
Our only ‘minor’ observations for consideration are:
1) The provision of some basic clothing storage (shelves) in the room would be useful. Also, we had a bedside table on one side - an additional on the other would be handy.
2) The selection of fruit and cakes within the Breakfast was better on the Tuesday morning, presumably after weekend restocking. We do point out that the selection on our first morning (Monday) was OK (adequate), it was just noticeably larger on the Tuesday.
Both 1) and 2) are definitely NOT criticisms and we had a lovely stay in this Robinsons establishment. Thank to the friendly and helpful staff and management.

I love to read in bed but it was unfair to keep my partner awake. The duvet would have been right for a winter's day, however, it was a warm summer's evening and it was impossible to sleep with such a thick covering.
It just wasn't a pleasant room to be in, overlooking a wall and the other guest's window. Sadly we won't be booking again.

Staying one night meeting with family. Room was small, nowhere to put a suitcase, no charger in bathroom for toothbrushes of shaver. Meal was more expensive than on website menu. Booked through Hotels.com and described as bed and breakfast, When we arrived breakfast was described as Continental. Cereals, tea, coffee, toast and small shop dry pastries. Told there was yoghurts in fridge, actually 2 only there. Breakfast was from 6am but no staff until 8am, you had to make breakfast yourself. Really disappointed as location is lovely.

We arrived for 1 night on the Friday and the greeting was warm and friendly.The room was lovely and clean and comfortable. We came back down to eat and the food was fine.... the cheesecake was amazing! We had a few games of pool and a few more drinks and all night the service was friendly and attentive. We went upstairs to bed about half 10 and apparently the walls are very thin and we must have been breathing too loudly for the people in the next room who decided to take objection and come out and knock really loudly on the door..... and then decided to wake us up at 6.45 in the morning by banging really loudly on the wall.... not the hotels fault but worth keeping in mind if you dare talk in your room at a considerate volume that it may cause offence and a lack of sleep. The cooked breakfast wasnt worth the money (the sausage was a really weird texture.....), grab yourself a coffee and a couple of bits of toast and go elsewhere. But also we really appreciated the chef allowing us to change our booked time from 9.30 to 9 after our rude awakening from the shire!

Overall, the stay was very good and was perfect for our trip to the Lake District. The location is perfect for navigating the Lakes as easy access to the M6. To the top of the lakes, it took us 1 hour by car. The continental breakfast served was plenty to start each day with. You can have cooked for £12 extra but we felt the continental option was more than enough.
The room was spacious and up to date. We stayed in the Herdsman. Only downside was the walls are very thin, meaning you can hear quite a lot next door conversation but that is to be expected in a pub with partition walls.
The pub itself is traditional and well kept together. Food served was standard pub food. Free parking is always a massive bonus.

The only complaint we thought we were going to have, was too much light from the exterior lights coming through the curtains, but we had overlooked that the window also had a blind!

Wonderful stay here, much better than I could have anticipated. The staff are lovely and there's nothing they can't do for you. Worth noting, we travelled when the weather conditions turned horrific with the snow. This venue has a lot of travellers stranded and opened up their function room to help those stranded (all rooms were booked) - absolutely wonderful to see as they more than extended their hospitality and they should be commended for that.

As frequent traveller I would not rate this as a 4 start hotel but 3 . The basics were all OK (except there was no heat in our room when we arrived) but there were a number of things missing that one would expect to find in a4 star hotel - like no desk, no night light in the bathroom, minimal heat in the bathroom etc.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, very good breakfast, but the room was disappointing. Poor toiletries, toilet flush faulty which was quickly repaired before breaking down again and water flush continued to trickle through the night. Window view looked out onto a dog run complete with artificial grass/poop area.

We loved our stay at the gilpin bridge in. Friendly staff, clean rooms and modern bathroom and the most amazing shower. The breakfast was good and the evening meal we had was tasty and a very generous portion.

Hotel located at the south end of the Lyth valley making it convenient for getting to places and attractions in the south lakes. It is not within walking distance of any other shops or places of interest so a car is essential. The room was a reasonable size and comfortable except for the pillows on the bed. The bathroom appeared to have been recently refurbished and had a walk-in shower. There was a small TV screen which was located high on the wall at the opposite end of the room to the bed - not great for viewing. There was only one other wicker chair in the room. Breakfast was served between 8:30 and 9:30
We had a dog with us. The hotel does have a number of dog-friendly rooms. Dogs are allowed in the bar in the evening, but not allowed in the area where breakfast is served in the morning. Expedia did not tell us this at the time of booking although I made it clear that we had a dog.

Convenient, basic, functionable not dog friendly
Basic hotel but with everything you need, conveniently located near the M6 if you’re breaking up a journey. Rooms small but fine for an over night stay. Advertised as dog friendly, but more dogs tolerated- dogs are not allowed at breakfast even though it’s served in the bar where dogs are allowed in the evening. Nowhere to walk a dog and the room isn’t big enough for anything other than a small dog.
