Had a lovely stay. Breakfast staff were attentive and very friendly. Breakfast was cooked to order and arrived quickly.The leisure suite is a bit tired (jacuzzi was out of action, and looked like it had been for a while) however, this did not detract from the overall relaxed vibe of a charming old hotel. We would stay again.

Executive double room was spacious and well appointed. Issue with inadequate heating so had to ask for additional portable heater. The jacuzzi is out of service and looks grotty. The pool walls can do with a proper clean at the water level. The pool was a tad too cool.
The food was excellent. Really good dining experience.

Family room was in an outside courtyard that was also used for storage, so not very pretty area. Room was very cold at night and told that heating was on a timer. Got an oil filled heater which didnt make much impact. Room was clean enough but dark due to its kocation. Radiators were on in the morning !!!!. Staff very pleasant, breakfast was excellent served in a nice room overlooking the seafront.

We arrived as the concierge was taking a phone call from another customer complaining and requesting a refund...not the best start.
Our stay coincided with a friends birthday party in the function suite, she was told there was a special rate for those that booked direct with the hotel. Three phonecalls later and staff had no idea about it, so we booked on hotels.com instead as the rates going direct were significantly higher.
We stayed in room 18, which has seen better days, cracks in the tiles and bath panel. In comparison to the lochside, this hotel is severely lacking and the bed and pillows fairly uncomfortable. That said, the room was clean.
The biggest issue i had that night was with a member of barstaff, I used the hotel bar rather than the function suite as there was only one member of staff serving and i wanted cocktails. I gave my order to the staff member and they didnt appear to be very pleased, but made them, I then asked for a pina colada and they looked furious, i asked to pay and come back for it, they huffed and handed me the card reader. I can only guess they'd just cleaned the machine, but I know that i did not deserve that level of attitude. Later i returned to the bar for more cocktails, that same member of staff, left and then returned, when we asked if they were serving they replied "no, i told you that before i left" just very unprofessional.
I wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone

We were kept waiting at check in while the person on reception finished typing an e-mail. No acknowledgement of our existence whatsoever. We had read other reviews which said 'avoid room 44'. Guess what room we were given ? We requested a change of room, and were given room 45, next door ! Comfy bed was a plus. Breakfast was adequate. I had stayed here before, many years ago, when it was the Marine Court. Then it was a classy, well run establishment. Today, it has the appearance of a tired old lady still trying her best, but the make up is failing to hide the signs of age. The dining/conservatory windows still have a large 'M' on them for Marine Court. This is not an establishment worth over £100 per night. Sorry to say this, but do yourself a favour and hit the local Travelodge !

A spacious room with modern bathroom. There was a manual electric wall heater rather than central heating and room needed a bit of time to heat up when we first arrived.
Comfortable bed and efficient shower.
The cooked breakfast on Saturday wasn’t great but Sundays was better. Dinner was very good- varied menu and our meals were both nicely presented and delicious.
Some of the decor is a bit old fashioned and colours clash.

I decided to spend a weekend in this hotel for my wedding anniversary. I had booked a double executive room. We get a room No.: 44
The accommodation:
Our room had a view of the roof full of air ducts from the kitchen and swimming pool, from which constant noise and smell spread. I've been in the many hotels before, but here was smallest bed at all. (only a double), the hand shower in the bathroom did not work, there was mold in the corners of the shower.
The Leisure center:
The water in the pool had not been changed for at least a year, the color was cloudy, the floor around the pool was dirty and damaged, the hot tub was out of order, empty and the service worker told me that it had been broken for a long time. The showers, saunas and locker room were fine.
Catering:
We had a delicious dinner, on hot plates, the service was pleasant, prompt, but the cutlery was dirty with someone's fingerprints. after the complaint the staff immediately replaced it. It happened both evenings.
We ordered hot breakfast, but it was brought to us already cold and dry. It was definitely pre-prepared at least 1 hour before serving. It happened both mornings.
This hotel has invested in modernization, but in small details it is run-down and neglected.
I will definitely not return here and I will not recommend it to my friends.

Lovely big clean room with very comfortable bed. The hotel is situated in a peaceful quiet street. All staff we met from reception to restaurant and cleaning were lovely chatty and friendly. Breakfast was cooked to order. It also had a separate covered gluten free section with bread and cereal and its own toaster.

Highly disappointed in our stay. We booked an executive suite , not sure what level we got but it wasn’t what was advertised, pictured, and paid for. We checked in and room wasn’t ready so went about our day activities to come back and given a room that was tiny. It had a tiny bath and bed. Worse part was the bed was so bad we couldn’t sleep. Miserable experience. I did try talk to management about the switch and rip off but they refused to talk to our local friends and wouldn’t respond to emails. Be careful as these people are dishonest. Selling you one thing and delivering much much less while taking your money.

The Staff were brilliant & friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Lovely big room with amazing views of the sea & across to Arran. We hardly used the TV, just sat & watched the weather change & the sunsets from the comfortable chairs in our room.
The food was good quality, but I personally found the restaurant very warm (I struggle with overheating) and this affected my dining experience.
Overall a great place to stay & even enjoyed a dip in the pool.

We had a lovely stay for four nights with breakfast. The room was enormous and the bathroom had everything you could want in there. Bed was comfortable, nice selection of instant teas and coffees in the room. The staff were lovely, particularly the hosts of breakfast and the breakfast selection was excellent. It's a short walk from the beach and into the town for shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again! Thank you to all the staff who work in this hotel.

It is some time since we stayed with you and we thoroughly enjoyed our short stay as we often come to Ayrshire to visit relatives. It is very convenient with the city centre and we had a beautiful walk along the sea front hearby on a simply wonderful sunny morning.

Executive rooms lacked expected facilities and required major refurbishment. Eg. No bottled water, no safe, only 1 small shower gel, shampoo etc.
Fire alarm did not appear to be working and no fire safety info.
Also the very small window did not let in adequate light for the size of room.
Would not return.

Unfortunately was in one of the two annex rooms which was disappointing. directly faced car park and dining room seating area. On entering room could smell the pool adjacent to it. Had to keep curtains closed most of time as felt very overlooked. Possibly a net curtain or other would help though wouldn’t stay again for this reason.

The first room we where given looked out on to the room of the kitchen which had air con and all sorts of vents making horrendous noise almost like an aeroplane taking off and that was with the window closed. With the window open words could not explain the noise levels. Check in staff where understanding and gave us a different room after our complaint and I was very happy with our new room. Im still in shick though at room 44 which they first offered us.

place was just OK. The condition of the room was horrible. Cracked and loose tiles in the bathroom floor made it unsafe and we had to wear shoes. Glass shower did not keep water in. Ceiling and walls had cracks in it. The ceiling moulding above the bed looked like it could fall on us at any moment.

This review may seem harsh as I would consider staying here again JUST NEVER IN THE ROOM WE GOT AGAIN, staff nice but slow and forgot a few times, its an older property that could be refurbished, its near the beach but dining and outdoors looks on to a car park, the room we had room 18 is above the swimming pool and the equipment used to run this is below and so noisy, the room was far too hot as didn't have proper ventilation,

This is our third stay here. The location is excellent, especially if you have kids. The green and the beach are right at the front of the hotel and the amusement arcades just a 2 minute walk along from it. The rooms aren’t as modern as you would expect for the cost and the shower and bath are a little worn looking round the sealant and the sofa bed wasn’t great but overall we had a good stay. The food in the restaurant is good it was our first time eating in it. They have an ok gluten free selection at dinner. I think breakfast is overpriced at £15 each regardless of whether you take the full fry or not. There’s a small selection of gluten free items but no actual gf offerings for the fry or pancakes and no kids breakfast so we did feel a bit robbed in that!

Booked a last minute stay and was pleasantly surprised. A lovely traditional hotel with all the 'trimmings' - grand foyer & staircase, hotel dining room serving dinner as well as breakfast, lovely well appointed room. Pool was as you'd expect but fitness centre was above average with a greater range of equipment that is uusual in my experience. Dinner was ok, breakfast was excellent. Free parking on site. Located just off the beachfront.

However, my room (43) was next to linen cupboards and I was woken up by housekeeping staff outside my door quite early. This included the wall and whole bed shaking when laundry bags were being piled up in the corridor against the wall.

Paid £172 for an "Executive" double room. Not quite sure what is executive about a room next to the air conditioning ducting on all night ?. Noisy and the TV very dated , restaurant closed at 8pm so couldnt get any food on arrival . Comfy bed , bathroom shower great but not wortb £172 and that did not include breakfast !

GREAT hotel, excellent value! The food (both breakfast and dinner) was outstanding. It's right across the street from a group of high rise apartment buildings that looked rather sketchy, so we weren't sure how safe the area was. And THERE IS NO LAUNDRY FACILITY, regardless of what it says on Expedia!!!!! That was the main reason we booked this hotel on Expedia - only to arrive there and find out that it isn't so!

Location is ideal, and spending day/night was from a good base. Staff are friendly and although we dined in the town at night, the breakfast quality suggested that an evrning meal here would have been nice. The use of leisure facilities aided to the relaxation.
