We're rather disappointed on arrival as the pool was closed as was the restaurant. But were able to walk into town and get meal. Breakfast was excellent and the room comfortable. Most importantly the staff were superb and very helpful. We had a fire alarm on the first night and they responded superbly. Calm and organised and so reassuring. Liaised with fire brigade and the police so that all was calm. The fire was a bin set alight with a cigarette stub. The hotel is about to close for renovations and should be good when done. Well sited and a good centre for the whole area with easy parking a good grounds.

It was closed down after being used to house asylum seekers and has been reopened for some mad reason.
do not use this place.

We had a fantastic stay at Eight Acres Hotel and were thoroughly impressed. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home.

Our room had been recently refurbished, and it was fresh and comfortable with modern touches like faux leather headboards a mirror frame. There were plenty of sockets, which was really convenient for charging devices, although none had USB ports, so remember your plugs. We also enjoyed the tea, coffee, and hot chocolate facilities and especially the shortbread biscuits.

The shower was powerful and hot, perfect for a refreshing start to the day. Breakfast was another highlight, with a delicious full Scottish breakfast featuring black pudding and tattie scone.

There is currently no catering facilities, (or pool/gym/spa), at the hotel other than breakfast, but there’s a bus stop just outside the hotel and it took us 5 mins into the centre of Elgin. We didn’t want to drive as we wanted a drink with our meal.

Overall, our experience was great. With good hospitality, comfortable rooms, and a decent breakfast.

Not so good overnight business stay. Booked primarily due to leisure facilities. Upon arrival they weren't available in over a year, but still been advertised on booking sites as a feature (plus over other hotels in the area). Rooms walls were paper thin, no dinner service in restaurant. Only breakfast.

One plus, staff at reception was super friendly and helpful, was happy to change my room on request.

Booked this hotel for location close to hospital. Ideal and close enough to walk. Booked a small double room which was sufficient for our purpose. The bathroom was compact but had a good shower and constant hot water. The breakfast each day was excellent and when there weren’t many guests, it was cooked to order. Very fresh good quality food and sufficient choice. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Very tired rooms, mattress was pretty bad, smallest TV I've had in a hotel. All draft lagers were off. (no gas!!) Wonder if they are struggling to survive. On the plus side, breakfast and staff were very good.

I've stayed at the Eight Acres many times over the years and it has always been a busy and vibrant hotel, but this time it was virtually deserted. Given the absence of guests there were fewer staff on duty. The staff were polite and helpful, but the whole place felt empty. Neither the gym nor the pool was available during my stay.

Staff were excellent in the sense that they found me another room.

Fact is that the place is dated, unfit for purpose and nothing like the images.

Walls were so thin that I could hear every word of next doors conversation as if they were talking to me from the next room.

It’s obviously been decorated but it’s the equivalent to putting lipstick on a pig.

We stayed here with our son who’s 1 year old. In the morning at breakfast we asked for a high chair. One high chair was already being used so they went to get another and nobody appeared back. We asked again and still no high chair. Before we left we asked at reception why nobody came back to us to be told they didn’t have anymore high chairs. This is a large family hotel and could only provide one high chair for the whole place which is shocking. Everything else at the hotel was perfect untill this service and lack of communication and honesty about only having one high chair.

Hotels.com listed a room that didn't exist (Triple with 3 double beds) - hotel did its best to accommodate us but party had to split over 2 rooms. One of the party was provided non Gluten Free pancakes in the morning, no cross-contamination controls. No ownership of the booking issue from hotel itself or hotels.com. Friendly staff let down by poor management and a dated environment.

The check in although pleasant did take a bit of time and the attention of the receptionist required to initiate this. I can only assume due to the pandemic staff may be running to a minimum. My initial opinion of the hotel wasnt great. The carpet leading to the room required a hoover. The corridor smelt of lard perhaps the kitchen underneath, it hut us both straight away. The room itself although well equipped was severely in need to updating, the bathroom particularly. Woodwork very chipped. The television was tiny and numerous channels were unobtainable. Similar situation with breakfast, I again had to approach the staff prior to entering the dining room, who were in conversing to one another at reception. Even with restrictions in place and slightly different for usual breakfasts it was cooked to a good standard. I had used my 10 night voucher ( which I now regret) to stay at this hotel, if I had been paying the full cost I would not have been so tolerant. Would I stay here again...no.

The Staff were tremendous. The food, very good, I enjoyed the meals we had there.
The building . . . well the proposed shut down for refurbishment can not come soon enough. I had to notify the desk of repairs needed and they were done the next day - so well done on that. The mould in the silicone sealant alongside the bath edge can be very easily removed and the silicone replaced, this would improve appearances so very much. The failure of the main water pump overnight of our last night, again a sign of the need for maintenance - and to have one pump for a essential service? That really should be assessed for upgrade in the upcoming refurb.
I have checked again and can not find any mention that there is no lift in the building to the bedrooms on the first floor. I booked this as a break for my wife who had just suffered a mild stroke and, had I known there was no lift, I would have looked elsewhere.
Finally, I must again state how good the Staff were, definitely this hotels biggest asset

My wife and I ate both 86 years old. On arrival we found that our room was on the first floor of the bedroom block. There was no lift and no porter, two and a half flights of stairs followed by another half flight. The receptionist on duty was very unhelpful. There was also a misunderstanding of our entitlement to breakfast since between finding the hotel and booking, not only had the price been raised but the offer of breakfast withdrawn. Please make clear that this hotel is unsuitable for elderly or frail people.

Utterly disappointed. A disgrace of a hotel.

A lot of miscommunication, was told that late check out could be arranged due to work commitments - long night shifts, on the phone when called ahead and will get back to us after checking housekeeping availability. Nothing.
Spoke to receptionist Claire I think evening of check in, completely inhospitable and unhelpful. Said the only option was for us to pay £20 extra per room for a 12 o'clock checkout, one hour beyond normal checkout. When asked if it could be extended to maybe 1/2 o'clock the response was purely, that will cost you extra.
The grand reception area is totally deceptive of what the rooms are like, I paid £62 for a single room with breakfast and I was deeply unsatisfied, it was worse than a hostel. The room was incredibly dated, the shower didn't work and I waited over 15 mins for someone to come up after waiting for someone to pick up the phone at reception for just under 10 mins. Can't believe a walkin is £157 for the same room.
Times for breakfast is rubbish. Service was rubbish, could not believe they want to charge £15 for continental for such a poor selection.
Ashley was the receptionist who checked us out late morning, she was very professional and friendly which is the only reason why the rating isn't 0 stars.
Leisure centre was nice especially the pool and hottub as but gym equipment was very old.

I liked the staff, our room was very small and overpriced.the dust on the back of the unit housing the television was disgraceful.we only noticed it because we had a problem with the remote control that we could not change the channels or put the volume down so we had to move the unit to unplug the television.there was no shampoo, conditioner or soap in the room so we had to go to reception to ask for some.we also had a meal with our friends which took a long time to come because they had a mix up with our order.the barman had to chase up the order.the night away for my wife and I was supposed to be a lovely evening for our wedding anniversary.lt was a shambles from start to finish.very disappointed indeed.

Everything looks rather \"tired\". There is no lift, and our room was up two flights of stairs. The room itself was comfortable and clean, as was the en suite bathroom. Breakfast was excellent. The lighting in the corridors could be improved - there was no light on the second set of stairs leading to our room.

I planned a day/night away for myself and booked some spa treatments. The girls in the leisure club were lovely and friendly. The treatments were amazing and felt super relaxed during and after. I booked a single room and it was fine until I wanted to sleep (was sleepy after massage so had an early night). The bed was very noisy so every move I made was a noisy.There was a draught coming from the window although it was closed properly and curtain was down. had to crank up the heater. The walls are very thin also so could hear the gentleman next door cheering at the football and could hear his TV clearly. He was even tapping on the wall with a plastic bottle so had to give him a bang to be quite 😰. Was very sleepy the next day 😴 which is not what I had planned. Evening Food was tasty and breakfast was a good selection. All staff were helpful

Firstly I was put in a horrendous single room. No working light, old and dirty. I was then moved thankfully. The guy who checked me in admitted he’d never been in the rooms.
Upon checking in I wasn’t told anything about leisure facilities. I was given the breakfast times. Went for breakfast in the morning. Mess everywhere. Everything in the cold section almost finished. No clean tables. No bowls. Staff just standing around doing nothing. I was then given the price list. Turns out breakfast wasn’t included and for the scrambled eggs I was going to order would be £18. One nice male staff member who checked me in. Other than that I found everyone to be very unfriendly and unhelpful. I’ll never stay here again.

Don't ever book a single room in this hotel. They are absolutely tiny. I checked out 3 days early.
Also found loads of hairs in the shower basin and sink...I'm bald so they were not mine. Gym and pool are also dated. Can't comment on double rooms as there were none available.

hotel was a bit dated, shower head in our room was broken for our whole stay , restaurant food was not very good , i had the roast one night which was ok , but the yorkshire pudding was pretty inedible, we also asked to order puddings which they took about 15 mins to come back and take our order . along with the puddings we ordered coffees which we didn’t even receive!! we had breakfast the next morning which was almost inedible !!

The Hotel has great facilities but is tired looking and the rooms could do with new up to date modern furniture. It has a large comfortable lounge, great bar area and good restaurant. The hotel does not have a lift, which could be a problem for the elderly or disabled.
The food was excellent and great value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Jordan MacDonald who sorted a problem cheerfully and competently.
Overall, a very comfortable stay.

Ok bit need a revamp

Very slow checkout for me and other guests and incorrect billing for me and others too. Nice hotel but a bit dated...poor room for the money.
