The lake view is beyond beautiful. The staff was excellent and kind. It rained while we were there so we didn’t get to swim in the lake like we wanted to but it was still beautiful. The Swiss flag on the rock is directly behind the hotel.
No valet parking, kind of rude people asked us to move the car prior to even walking up to the desk to check-in to ask where the proper place to park. We’ve never been here! We didn’t know what to do with the car but they quickly put us in our place. They need a better sign to let guests know what to do for parking. Once you’re inside the gate, park your car in a parking space THEN walk in to check in. We couldn’t even concentrate on what the first desk was telling us about breakfast in the morning/check in because we were so frazzled/rushed about moving the car! Not a good first impression!

Overall, our stay was enjoyable.
The absence of air conditioning was a drawback.
It was challenging to sleep in late September due to the heat.
Opening windows led to mosquito issues, making sleep impossible.
The fan in the room was ineffective in cooling it down.

Beautiful, elegant hotel right on Lake Lucerne. Breathtaking views on lakeside. I was afraid that no A/C would be a problem but it cooled down very nicely at night so it was comfortable. The grounds were well kept with lots of good seating areas and water toys to use on the lake. The restaurant and service were excellent.

Lovely hotel

What a beautiful property! Set on the lakeside with beautiful gardens, everything about the hotel says peaceful and relaxing. The staff is professional and friendly and happy to do whatever possible to enhance your stay. Breakfast is excellent and made-to-order eggs are also available. The Michelin-starred dinner was good but, frankly, overpriced. Other restaurants within walking distance were the better choice.

Beautiful hotel right on the lake overlooking the mountains that hug this area in. A real mix of olde Swiss with artful traditional colour on the exterior and on the ceilings inside, then a crisp, clean modern twist in the bedrooms. Wonderful views, excellent staff, great comfortable sleep. Our meal was delicious, seeved while gazing onto an orange sky as the sun went down behind the mountains!

Poor communication

The roads and tunnels are closed until October to reach the hotel. We spent over 2 hours trying to get to the hotel. We ended up buying the highway pass for 45.00 and a ferry ticket for 30.00 just to reach the hotel. Since there is now only one direction to enter to the hotel it would have been nice if the hotel informed their guests so they could enter from that open direction. When we said something to the front desk clerk she could care less.

Also they sent an email asking to make reservations for dinner. We made reservations at the bar area for a light hamburger and grilled items. They never communicated that the restaurant we made reservations was closed and they seated us in fine dining. We were not dressed appropriately and the meals were 40 to 65 CFH per plate. They should have communicated that to us before we sat down so we could find another meal option in town.

Overall very unsatisfied with the hotel. The breakfast lady did an incredible job.

This hotel was straight out of a fairytale...set in the mountains, overlooking a lake - so tranquil. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the staff accommodating. The suite we had for the four of us was 2BR/2BA and more than enough room, with a small balcony. Free parking and a nespresso machine and tea and apples on each floor were nice surprises. Would definitely stay here again!

Amazing Experience.

This is a gorgeous hotel that is beautifully updated in the common areas and the room. It looks like the room was updated within the last year or even more recent and has a beautiful bathroom. I had a waterfront room with a balcony and it was well worth the money ! The hotel ownes a decent amount of property along the lakefront and you can relax in comfortable chairs or go for a swim. I highly recommend dining at the waterfront restaurant for dinner it was an excellent experience . I am from the US and this was my favorite hotel while staying in Switzerland. My only regret is that we didn’t stay more than one night here !

The view and location on the lake was excellent. The hotel has been updated and modernized with a pleasing and functional result. Restaurant food was exceptional. Only two real problems with our stay. First, the hotel is not airconditioned and the room was extremely stuffy in the afternoon, even with windows open. As it turned out, the hotel provided fans for the rooms, but our room had no fan when we arrived and only had one for the last day of our stay. We only had one for that day because we asked if any were available. Staff told us that it should have been in the room. Not a very good answer since the room was supposed to be prepared for our arrival. Which brings me to the next issue. We arrived at the property two and one half hours before our 3:00 pm check-in time and we were told that we would be notified as soon as our room was ready. We were allowed in at 3:00 pm. the expectation was that they would try to accommodate our early arrival, as well as the early arrival of several other guests. Instead, many guests found themselves waiting for hours for their rooms to be ready. Hardly accommodating to guests. The staff seemed more concerned with preparing the hotel for a wedding that was to take place later in the day. Not acceptable by any hotel standard.

We stayed for two nights at the Viztnauerhof. As such the Hotel is great. Nice room, Nespresso machine, nice spa, great view, ok breakfast. We had dinner at the Sens which was outstanding. Very nice location at the lake. Unfortunately there was a group of about 20 tourists at the Hotel. They were extreamly loud and blocked the pool from 3PM to 6PM. We had to leave however also in the room we could hear them. After we came back from the Sens restaurant this group had a party on the balcony just below our room so we could not sleep. You can't close the window as there is no AC. Because of that the stay was very disapointing. I recommend you call up before making a reservation to check if there is a tourist group. We have a very bad memory for this stay.

Met all expectations and more!!

It was our first time travelling to Switzerland from Australia and after much research we decided to stay at this hotel on lake lucerne. We prefer a quieter setting but love having access and possibilities near us for exploring without getting back on our motorbike. This location on the lake offered just that with better swimming areas, easy walking distance to ferry, train and cable car experiences. The possibilities of walking tracks were endless and options to enjoy the area were perfect. Now..... the hotel itself? An UNFORGETABLE experience which will be remembered as our highlight of our 6 weeks travelling Europe on our motorbike. I think the service and people instantly make you fall in love with this dream hotel. I felt like I had their full attention in making our stay completely personal, luxurious and as enjoyable as possible. In every possible way every staff member went out of their way to make everything possible with a genuine smile and warmth. When we left I was shattered that the dream vacation was over. Thank you so much HOTEL VITNAUERHOF for everything!!!

We thought the hotel had A/C and were very disappointed it fid not. There is no way a hotel should every be rated 5 stars without AC. Also there was a dirty light switch plate by the foor and the shower door track connections were rusty and full of hair - disgusting looking actually. The bar by the beach has very limited seating and even less with shade. The hotel pushes too hard to have you reserve for dinner when they are not even full.
Breakfast buffet was fantastic however.

Stayed here for our honeymoon and loved it! We were very glad that we decided to stay a ways outside of Lucerne and on the lake. So gorgeous, peaceful, and had lots to do in the area (within a 30min drive). The restaurants and spa that are owned by the hotel were great too!

weird room with stairs - could not take luggage upstairs to the bedroom - stairs were too steep very small window in the room with a little balcony
Hotel was empty - end of season so whole area was dead but they still put us in a less desirable room that was very expensive
Kept asking us if we had dinner reservations when we went to the restaurant - even though there were only two other tables occupied during the entire time we had dinner - put us at a less desirable table because we did not have a reservation - we could see no need of one!
Whole thing was very distasteful and left a bad impression on us for this area -the rest of our trip in Switzerland and Germany was wonderful

We spent 2 nights at this wonderful hotel with a room overlooking the lake (well worth the extra money- the view is spectacular!). The staff were courteous, the room was spacious and the restaurant was very good. My husband had informed staff that we would be celebrating my birthday, and they went out of their way to wish me happy birthday and even signed a card for me. It was a very special touch.

I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone, and very much hope we will be able to return in the not too distant future.

Beautiful setting, amazing staff, loved this hotel

located in the small village of Vitznau, this hotel is a 1-hr boat ride from Lucerne. The hotel is on the lake, nestled among the mountains. The service was outstanding. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious ( for Europe). The bathroom was amazing, two sinks, recently renovated, beautiful soothing gray tile. There was something incredibly restful about the place. I hated to leave!

We stayed 2 nights on opening night for the season. The hotel is only open for doing to end of summer months. Lovely service. There were a few kinks but probably due to it being just opened for season 2016.

Breakfast could provide some more options, and the spa could have some more amenities in the ladies area such as cleanser, makeup remover, etc.

Otherwise super time and stay!

We came as a Family and booked 4 rooms! The hotel is fantastic and located in the heart of the Vitznau! Wonderful setting, Amazing and helpful staff, A+++ Restaurants on site and of course, the Fabulous Lake!!! All in all I would recommend to everyone to come to Hotel Vitznauerhof!

But I must point out: The hotel does not have an air condition in any room nor in common areas. This was very difficult and in summer even unbearable. I would recommend the hotel to install Air conditions in the rooms, as this would upgrade the hotel from 4 stars to 5 stars in my book.

Sehr schönes Hotel direkt am See. Sehr ruhig. Fast durchwegs sehr freundliches Personal. Tolle Küche. Gute Betten, Kissen dürften fester sein. Klarglas Fenster vom Bad ins Zimmer finde ich furchtbar. Wozu? Sitzt jemand auf der Toilette oder duscht, kann die andere Person vom Zimmer aus zusehen. Wenn man nachts zur Toilette muss, weckt das Licht die andere Person. Sehr undurchdacht.

Schönes Hotel an wunderbarer Lage.

Sehr nettes Personal. Schönes Zimmer mit grossem Balkon und toller Seesicht. Gute Betten. Furchtbar aber finde ich das Fenster zwischen Bad (und Toilette!) und dem Schlafzimmer. Wer hat sich sowas ausgedacht? Wenn ich dusche oder auf der Toilette sitze, will ich doch nicht beobachtet werden! Man könnte wenigstens das Milchglas bei diesem Fenster bis zur Decke hochziehen. Abgesehen davon stört es, wenn die eine Person nachts ins Bad muss und das Licht anmacht - die andere Person wacht doch unweigerlich auf!
Frühstück eher bescheiden aber von toller Qualität. Wellnessbereich und Gym ist auch sehr gut. Toller Garten direkt am Wasser. Das Sternerestaurant „Sens“ ist Weltklasse- sehr kreativ und ungewöhnlich. An der Optik der Teller könnte noch gefeilt werden.

Das Hotel ist 1a man kann von A-Z alles in Ruhe geniessen einen sehr schöner Garten / Sauna Bereich und 2 Restaurants die auch spitze sind . Der See so nah ist einfach herrlich … Alle sind sehr nett und sehr aufmerksam

Magnifique hôtel historique

Magnifique hôtel avec accès direct au lac par un très beau jardin. La météo mitigée ne nous a malheureusement pas permis d’en profiter pleinement.
Emplacement idéal, proche du débarcadère et du départ pour la Righi. Le restaurant Sens est une expérience unique qui vaut le détour à lui seul (à réserver impérativement à l’avance). Nous avons par contre été un peu déçu du restaurant de l’hôtel, malgré: la terrasse est idyllique, mais le repas très moyen pour un prix tout sauf modique.

Kurzaufenthalt in Vitznau

Netter Aufenthalt in Vitznau, eher für älteres Semester gedacht! Personal grösstenteils sehr freundlich, trotzdem fehlt es etwas an Herzlichkeit. Als Hotelgast hatten wir praktisch keine Flexibilität mehr für das Dinner, lediglich ein Zeitfenster um 20.30h, trotz Corona Massnahmen sollte da für Hotelgäste ohne Reservierung etwas mehr Flexibilität an den Tag gelegt werden! Wir haben trotzdem ein sehr leckeres Abendessen im nahegelegenen Restaurant Rütli genossen...

Zuerst möchten wir uns badanken, dass wir bei Ihnen einen so tollen Aufenthalt geniessen durften.
Das Zimmer war einwandfrei und sehr sauber. Das Bett ist sehr bequem und man schläft sehr gut. Die Aussicht mit Balkon (Seeblick) lässt sich kaum beschreiben.
Das Hotel hat sehr viel Charm und das sehr freundliche und zuvorkommenden Personal rundet das Paket noch ab.
Das Essen im hauseigenen Restaurant ist vielseitig und ist auch für Vegetarier mehr als geeignet.
Die Terrasse direkt am See ist ebenfalls kaum zu beschreiben, man muss es einfach (mit Sonnenuntergang) erlebt haben.
Wir sind bestimmt nicht das letzte mal in diesem schönen Hotel gewesen.

Wir sind eifach nur begeistert! Die fantastische Aussicht auf den Vierwaldstättersee und die Berge, das gemütliche Ambiente, der saubere und top-moderne Wellnessbereich, der gepflegte Garten mit vielen Sitz-, Ess- und Liegemöglichkeiten inkl. beheiztem Pool, der zuvorkommende und freundliche Service, das vorzügliche Essen - alles war zu unserer vollsten Zufriedenheit. Sehr gerne wieder!
