Such a gorgeous property right on the Lake. Beautiful rooms and friendly staff. Train station right near by if you do not have a car and want to use public transport. Private lakefront at the back which is just serene and glorious.

Perfect stay!!

From walking into the hotel and being greeted by the nice young man, to the library with coffee, to the medieval theme and updated bathrooms, we were delighted with this hotel. Our room was so spacious with an AC unit and we enjoyed the sister restaurant across the street. Lovely stay!!

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The hotel has authentic decor and it even has an elevator. The hotel breakfast is very good as well. The staff is very friendly and informative. They were always available. There is also a coffee lounge that my husband loved.

The things we did not like is that our room did not have any type of fan, it was very hot during the day and night. Eventually we got a fan and it worked ok. The lake access is shared with the community and it is not exclusive to guests. We paid for lake view and it was very noisy. Especially at night. So many people yelling and being loud, we needed to keep the windows open because it was so hot. Also the one day I wanted to relax on a lounge chair and read there was a yoga class for the public right on the hotel lawn where it’s supposed to be exclusive for guests. It disrupted the peace and quiet I was looking for. There were a lot of children and families at the lake and at the lawn right next to the hotel where it’s the public side. Overall it did not feel like peace and quiet or exclusive. The bed was not as comfortable either. The pillows were so flat I had to stack my pillows to get some type of support.

Comfortable hotel right on Lake Lucerne only a few miles from the beautiful city of Lucerne. Wonderful views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Breakfast was not included in the room rate and at CHF25 per person rather expensive.

Check in was fast and effortless. We were able to get a reservation for dinner at the same time. The hotel interior is charming and elegant. A cafe next door sold us a wine to take to the waterside at the hotel’s private park. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was absolutely delicious. You must have the chateaubriand. Beautiful setting. We will be back!

One of the best hotels we've ever stayed at in terms of setting and service. The front of house staff were both friendly and very efficient helping with both queries and advice. The restaurant and breakfast rooms are located in a seperate building opposite the main hotel. The breakfast buffet was high quality with a good choice of food and, while the hotel restaurant menu had a number of interesting dishes it wasn't our style of food. That said, there is a great Argentinian restaurant right next door which served a wide variety of the most excellent food backed up by very friendly and helpful staff which we would recommend most highly. Thank you Merlischachen for five wonderful days

I loved this quaint hotel with wonderful old world charm, nestled in a small town close to Lucern, Merlichachen. Beautifully maintained structural wood beamed rafters, doors and hardware of medieval style throughout the hotel. Also, of equal charm was the serene lakefront property grounds, beautifully landscaped and was a lovely quiet respite from our travels. The bathrooms were completely remodeled and beautifully appointed with everything new and immaculate.
If I am fortunate enough to return to Switzerland, I will certainly stay in this hotel.

The property is in a beautiful area of Switzerland and is in perfect condition.

Nevertheless I left disappointed: during the booking I selected and paid options that appeared to secure a pleasing view to the lake. That was not the case though. The view from the balcony was one of some parked cars and a small unremarkable house. Sad.

Disappointed experience.

After I confirmed our arrive at hotel around 11:00 pm, and once we got there, the door man said the hotel is occupied completely full. Then he offered us to stay at Swiss - Chalet. He showed me the room,which was located across a bar which was laud music and guest screaming. We did refuse to stay, so we went back to our family which was 1 hour away,and spend the night there,The next day I called and the operator at the reception was unfriendly and arrogant,saying I don’t know what happened. I want make clear that the conversation was in Swiss - German our language.

We didn't realize that it was that far from Lucerne, even though the transportation was convenient going by boat, train or bus. It took an hour by boat, 20 minutes by train and we did not use the bus. It was well run, good food in a restaurant across from the hotel which is run by the hotel. Also, was quiet and the property had direct access to the lake. They also upgraded us to a Jr. Suite, which was beautifully decorated. We were there two nights.

Amazing stay

I booked this hotel to get the whole Swiss experience and I couldn't have asked for a better place. The hotel is located right on the lake overlooking the Swiss alps. Our bathroom looked brand new and our bed was very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was amazing! Highly recommend staying here instead of staying right in the city.

When we arrive the hotel, the girl at the reception told us that we didn't book this hotel and we need to go to another hotle 300 meters away. After I show her the booking confirmation from expedia, she admit that I did booked this hotel but they no longer have available room here. Then she took us to a room without window and ask us whether we are OK with it. Of course we are not OK with it, we booked their so called lake double room. Finally she bring us upstairs and give us a room we booked. Before she left, she ask us \"You are happy now?\". Come on, this is the room we booked, why should we be happy after experiencing all these?

Second night of our stay in the area. Was fooled by the pictures as this hotel is really only a roadside motel. Noisy hallway, didn't replenish toiletries the second day. Most expensive hotel I booked on my trip to Europe and not worth it.

A dissapointing place

What a disappointing hotel after all the good reviews. Staff very stand-offish, apart from the owner, who treats her guests as a primary school teacher would. I don't want to stay in a 4 star hotel and have to walk to a 3 star to eat in a restaurant with pet flies. Having said that the waiting staff there did seem human. The hotel is in a village with nothing, apart from another hotel owned by same group.

very pleased with our short one night stay, the hotel and resort amenities were elegantly designed and comfortable. the spacious rooms let my husband and i spread out and the lake side park let us relax in the warm sunshine after hiking Mt Rigi. the hotels location to Mt Rigi and Lucerne is perfect, a short drive but far enough away from the tourist areas we felt we were able to see the local culture.

We really liked the anteroom entry that has a double doorway blocking sounds from the hallway, a nice designed touch. The beds are very comfy, the bathroom very clean and luxurious. The buffet breakfast at the Swiss Chalet was wonderful.

So glad we decided to stay here on our 15 year anniversary. Wish we were able to stay longer and use the pool and sauna.

Road house by any other name...

Chose the hotel based on the pictures presented and the ease of parking. The hotel was just as it appeared and so much less. It really is a glorified roadhouse. I never did make it to the bar or restaurant because both were located at a (sister?) hotel across the street (as was breakfast). The beautiful wood doors were there, however were noisy (banging shut-no rubber stops) and the tile floor was just as shown (throughout) which caused quite a racket with luggage being dragged over them. Had to run the bathroom fan to mask the commotion from the tour bus unloading at 10 pm.

Only good point about this hotel is parking. Everything else is awfull. Our room smelled, furniture cheap and worned out. Linen was cheap and old. Breakfast in a building across the road and a very poor one. No lobby, just a small table and 2 chairs. Avoid this place.

The hotel is great the location is super nice and we enjoyed our stay there. Only thing was that the staff are not that friendly and could probably learn alot more how to communicate with people and make their social skills better.
When we asked for ice to be brought up to our room they said we have to get it our selves, later i red on the booklet that was in our room that if we want ice we should ask the reception and they will bring it. This was just one example how poor the staff were

Confirm which building your room is as there is a second separate building across the street with shared toilet / showers. If traveling by car look for Swiss-Chalet Merlischachen Luzernerstrasse, CH-6402, Merlischachen on your GPS.

What a view!

Quaint little Swiss hotel overlooking the lake, which had big beautiful swans swimming around in it! A truly beautiful setting in a unique hotel. The property is well kept, but old, so the noise from other guests, above, below, and next to you, can be bothersome. loud, obnoxious guests in the room above and next to us, interrupted our sleep. Amazing Hotel with Unbeatable View of Lake Lucerne

Only a 10 minute drive from the heart of the city on the shores of Lake Lucerne. We were upgraded to a \"Themed\" suite on the 3rd floor - the \"Moulin Rouge\" suite & it was spectacular. Large bed, spacious room with a spa bath & incredible views of the lake right outside or window.

The staff were friendly & helpful & the provided buffet style breakfast (in the Swiss Chalet across the road) was really good.

Easy car parking, nice bars & restaurants to choose from & only a short drive to the centre of Lucerne. Highly recommended.

Expedia advertised this room (Superior Double) as having a balcony and deep soaking tub, which isn't the case, as it has neither. Not really a deal breaker, but it would be nice to have some truth in advertising. Other than the bed being worn out, the room and hotel were very nice. Hotel is close to activities, has a great pool, free parking, and staff is super.

Beautiful traditional boutique hotel in a quiet spot on the banks of lake Lucerne with a friendly feel and a fabulous restaurant.
I whole heartedly recommend Jaguar Suit for something completely different and the Gastronomique menu - which was superb.
They also make their own Qwalwasser - which was excellent too, I took a bottle away with me.

A Castle experience near Lucerne

This is a \"Castle\" like hotel, filled with knights pictures and their armor. The rooms are spacious, some facing the lake. You have all the amenities here: strong and free wifi, huge free parking, rich breakfast and a private lake beech! The hotel rooms are clean. The prices are affordable, comparing to the Lucerne hotels. In 15 minutes, you drive leisurely to Lucerne. Recommended!

Relaxing lakeside hotel near Lucerne

Great room, cozy and with some personality (not a cookie-cutter hotel room- wood panels, comfortable chairs, etc.) Incredibly beautiful view of the lake and mountains with a small balcony. No AC, as is expected in Europe, but provided fan and open windows kept the room comfortable in late July. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the hotel restaurant was far above expectations- excellent, high quality food. We didn't use the hotel's sauna, pool, or lakefront facilities, but they are available and seemed to be well-used by other guests. Our stay was for relaxation, so we spent a lot of time in the room, but the hotel is close to a rail line that connects you to Luzern in about 20 minutes (train runs once an hour).

Schloss Hotel Swiss Chalet is actually 6 separated hotels!
Only the main is on the lake shore. The others are beyond the main road.
We have stayed in Jagdschloss building 100meters from the main building up in the hill.
We have very large, nice, quiet, comfortable and clean room facing the lake.
Good breakfast & service.
Recomended!

O chalé pareceu um pouco antigo, mas bem cuidado e limpo. O quarto é amplo com espaço para as malas. O box de banho é muito pequeno. O local é muito bonito, tranquilo e próximo ao lago, perfeito para uma caminhada ou contemplação; fica localizado um pouco afastado do centro da cidade mas isso não foi um problema, pois há parada de ônibus em frente ao chalé e estação de trem a poucos minutos de caminhada. Café da manhã muito bom que pode ser adquirido a parte por 25 CHF. Recomendo.

Wir haben 2 Nächte im Hotel Schloss-Hotel Swiss Chalet Merlischachen verbracht und waren zufrieden mit unserem Zimmer. Das Hotel im Schloss-Stil war sauber und die Lage - am See - traumhaft. Für uns persönlich war es allerdings vom Stil (Interior Allgemeinbereich und Zimmer) etwas zu dunkel und rustikal (Rüstungen und Hellebarden an den Wänden). Beim Frühstück im Nebengebäude (auf der anderen Seite der Straße) gab es reichlich Auswahl.

Wunderschöne Anlage mit direktem Seezugang. Zimmer gräumig und sauber. Personal sehr freundlich. Restaurant über die Strasse mit reichhaltiger Karte und alles sehr fein.

Kamer mooi alleen de jacuzzi was niet in orde.
De bubbels deden t niet en de knop was afgebroken maar hij liep uiteindelijk wel vol
Zeer teleurstellend gezien je hiervoor betaald en er hoort restitutie voor te worden gedaan😌
