The view from this hotel is amazing! The location is not the best and it is up a steep hill so if you are travelling with luggage it is not ideal. It was SO loud in the room. We could hear everything from the rooms around us…we could even hear someone coughing in their room.

From the very first step into the hotel, I felt genuinely welcomed. Baji at the reception was absolutely wonderful — warm, professional, and truly attentive. His hospitality immediately made me feel at home and set the tone for the entire stay. I would also like to thank the gentleman from Iraq at the reception (unfortunately, I didn’t catch his name). He was equally kind, helpful, and welcoming — a true example of excellent service.The location of the hotel is simply perfect. It is within easy walking distance of Lucerne’s main attractions, yet at the same time it offers privacy and a peaceful atmosphere where you can truly relax and unwind. This balance is rare and very special. This hotel made a huge impact on me. It was my first visit to Switzerland, and honestly, this stay is one of the main reasons I fell in love with Lucerne. Everything — from the people to the location and the overall atmosphere — was exceptional.
I will definitely return and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Lucerne. Thank you for such a memorable experience.

I’ll start by saying the staff were all friendly and helpful, very likeable people. The room we had was on the 4th floor on a corner facing the lake so having a panoramic view was pretty amazing and the small balcony to sit on was quite pleasant. The views of the lake and mountains were a delight. The bathroom was updated and well thought out. The main part of the room was roomy but dated and had some design issues that need rethinking. The bed is a split king meaning two twins shoved together but keeping them together was a challenge. Near the bed is an old style radiant heater that is large and takes up quite a bit of space and a mini fridge was placed in front of it which made no sense. The fridge would have fit better under the desk in the far corner but for some reason there was zero electrical plugins where that desk was so that would have been a problem there too. The coffee maker was place on that desk but needed to be moved somewhere to use due to the lack of an outlet for it at that desk. A large armoire took up an entire wall which was needed due to there being no closet and another table with sitting chair took up the remaining space. Overall a disfunctional room design and it lacked charm and the updating that was done for the bathroom. I recommend a remodeling of that room. We did the breakfast once and honestly while the food was decent, it was was not included with the room and was quite expensive. Convenient but not a good value for a basic selection.

Expensive for a place, the booking advertise for lake view price , but in the hotel the charge extra 30 CHF for what was booked , the room has no AC , but poor small fan, no safety lock box not enough to make room temperature acceptable to avoid sweating, no small refrigerator in room unless you request and will take time to bring one. The room has only 2 electric power outlet source not enough to connect a coffee maker (to see if it’s working or not) and connect the refrigerator and connect the fan or to connect to plug transformers for 2 cells phone chargers . So the customer service brought several extension cord and coord were running in the floor and the client has to move carefully in the room to avoid cord a tangling around his feet!!! . The place is unique in not having the basic equipments of a regular third class hotel,the provide with 2 separate keys with no way to attach to your pocket and easy to loose and Charge you extra money for lost key . It was a very bad disappointing experience that created a lost of discomfort and distress to me and my wife. The only acceptable service was the breakfast

Wonderful Stay at Hotel Royal, Lucerne

We had a fantastic experience at Hotel Royal in Lucerne. The location is excellent, right across from the lake, making it easy to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and city attractions. The views from our room were breathtaking, and the staff at the front desk were incredibly friendly and welcoming.

We would definitely return and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Lucerne.

This is a lovely place to stay with our room having a view of the lake. The staff were very nice and welcoming. The only negative, I would say was the variety of food on the menu was not very extensive leaving us to find somewhere else to dine. However this did not take away from how lovely the hotel was.

Really nice hotel with fantastic views. It’s a bit dated but that did not stop our enjoyment. The tiny balcony could just fit three people on. We had a triple room with a bathroom and it was nice. It’s about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the centre of the town and there is a little bit of a hill towards the end but again no big issue and I don’t think even someone with mobility problems would have any issues here.

The one thing that we had a bit of a smile about was we were one hour before the check-in time and they asked if we wanted to pay for an early check in for 30CHF which seemed a bit much. We declined.

The service was amazing and everyone was so friendly, especially Arrot (please forgive the spelling who worked the front desk when we checked in. The view was amazing. We enjoyed sitting on the lower balcony for a drink and in the mornings we drank coffee on our balcony from our room. The breakfast buffet had lots to offer as well and was a great option when in a hurry.

We were blessed with a room that had a balcony and a window. We had a spectacular view of the mountains and the lake. We had dinner at the hotel the first night and Rarish our waiter was excellent.

The hotel was a short walk from the train station and only 10-15 min to St. Leo Church, Old Town, Chapel Bridge. Very convenient. With the Expedia reservation, we were given a street view room so for 30 CHF we upgraded our room to lake view which was nice. We were not happy with the room itself. Small. No furniture except for a little chair in front of a built in desk. Little tiny shelves on both sides of bed are used as night stands. Bathroom ridiculously small with one small shelf behind the toilet. No soap dish or places to hang your wash cloth or towel. I had to put my shampoo and other bath items on the floor outside of the small shower stall. Unless other rooms do not have these issues, We would not recommend this property. Note too that four other Expedia properties in Switzerland gave us a lake view not charging us an up charge as Hotel Royal Luzern did to us.

Fabulous service and views.

From check-in and throughout the whole stay the service was excellent, friendly and attentive but without being overbearing. The views over the town and lake were wonderful, both from our room and the public terrace. It is walkable from the train station but be aware it is up quite a steep hill so using a taxi to get there may be useful, though consider Uber as they're half the price of the regular taxis. Location is great for getting around Lucerne with public transport a short 5-minute walk from the main road at the bottom of the hill from the hotel. Room was large, comfortable and clean but oddly ours didn't have a wardrobe and just 3 wall hooks, which wasn't a problem for us as only there 2 nights but maybe something worth checking if staying there longer and need wardrobe space.

The view of the city, lake, and snow-covered mountains was so breathtakingly beautiful, we found it hard to leave the window (with balcony!) in our room. When we did, we used the hotel's complimentary bus ticket to explore the town--one of the most lovely and special we have experienced in Europe. Overall we had a fine stay here. There are few things to note before booking that we wish we knew. Firstly the property is up a hill and about 7 min walk from the bus stop. In the heat it’s not the easiest walk (especially with luggage). The property is quite old, there is no air conditioning, and it seems no updates have been done since original construction. Our room was small and without basic amenities we expected for the price (no fridge, coffee/tea, safe for belongings). The bed and pillows were not comfortable. The walls are thin and you can hear everything happening in the hall and neighbouring rooms. The one upside was the staff were very nice and accommodating. Thankfully they were able to find us a fan for the room given the extreme heat. We would not be keen to stay here again but if you are low maintenance it would probably be fine for a short stay.

check-in July 12 - 1 night stay - Nothing Royal - just the name - despite a great location and the kindless of Director who tried his best to accommodate our stay - we re-packed and left hotel after 1 hour - I surely waisted $ 270.00 but life is too short for a bad sleep - Property is in poor condition in need of major renovation - you can hear people next door (room) coughing talking even farting - it is unfortunate for the staff who is actually doing a great job - I was told that I would be contacted by upper Management - as of today ... no news. This property was only a few blocks off the man tourist route but was quiet and relaxing. Best beds of six hotels during our trip. We loved the helpful service provided by the front desk clerk Adrian. It was nice to return to the scenic view from the veranda after a day of sightseeing.
