The A/C wasn’t working, and it was very uncomfortable to sleep at night. We went to Pfistern for dinner, but they said they didn’t have any reservation for us, even though the hotel had assured us they called. Anyway, overall it was just an okay experience. The staff was friendly, though.

Wonderful service.

This hotel was amazing. It was very clean. More than that the service we received was exemplary. We hadn’t booked parking as we thought it would be available. The staff made extra effort to find parking with their sister hotel. Even did valet service for us by, as we found out at checkout, the GM Marc himself! What a wonderful hotel! I would recommend to any family members traveling to Switzerland.

Service by staff was impeccable but no hot water for a full day so couldn’t shower after full day of activity and felt grimey so I have mixed feelings about this hotel.

Property and room was beautiful. We had wanted to extend our stay and had to make second booking for a different room. The general manager, Martin, noted this and reached out and managed to arrange for us combine both bookings and stay in the same room for both days. This made it a lot more convenient as we didn't have to deal with two different bookings on each day. Love the attention to detail by the staff.

The hotels is a very nice hotel in prime location. However, I have to state both positive and negative aspects.

Positives:
Great location
Friendly staff
Room with a design.

Negatives:
Small room size.
No place to sit in the room except the bed and one chair.
Very dark room.
Airplane bathroom.
No lobby except the desk of the reception.
The hallways between rooms are less than 1 meter wide which makes them very unpleasant place to walk.

Excellent helpful and friendly staff

The staff gave us suggestions for places to tour while in the area. Then unexpectedly, my wife had a medical emergency and was admitted to the hospital. The staff assisted me with taxi transportation, and because my reservation ended, and there were no more rooms available, they arranged for me to move to a lovely nearby hotel, moving my luggage for me. Amid all of this they did not forget to inquire about how my wife was feeling and they also gave me a much-needed umbrella late at night.

Very close to Lucern main station and need to walk 20 mins to old town. Overall quite comfortable esp the bed. Not a cosy room but quite modern and stylish.

Five Star???Seriously Debatable!!!

Well, it is a differently designed (dark with very dim lighting all around) hotel,which only can be understood in the night time when those back lighted posters on ceilings,walls or headboards glow otherwise in its a dark place even in day.The room was all wood floor, use of stainless steel decently in furniture along with wood was nice too. But the hallways and outside the rooms seemed as if they are in a 1 star hotel and not understandable. Although it is differently designed hotel but does not confirm to a Five Star status, but a “slapped” cheap and dark minimalistic design. The staff is super professional, polite and friendly. Room service and presentation is excellent. Location is very close to everything happening.

Not a 5 Star hotel~

I went out one day and returned about 9 pm and found that my room has not been cleaned , I asked if the room could be cleaned and was told that there is no cleaner at that time . I was told that the non disturbed sign was on but I had no idea that the light was on. There was a bottle of complimentary water when I checked in and I asked why there wasn’t one for the 2nd day and was told that’s I only get one bottle for the entire of my stay at the hotel regardless how many nights I would stay at the property. I was woken up at 7 am by lots construction noises and I called hotel.com customer service to complain about the noise at the property . Hotel.com contacted the property for me and said the hotel manager would like to speak to me regarding my complain about the noise to see if he can make some sort of compensation to me. When I checked out I asked if the manger wants to talk to me regarding the noise issue I had. I was told to walk to another of their sister hotel to wait there to see if the manager has the time to talk to me. I said I never heard that if I have a prob with a hotel I need to track down their manger and wait fo be seen my him esp in a 5 Star hotel. The receptionist told me that they are not a 5 Star hotel.

Stylish place with some attitude problems.

After booking The Hotel based on their website, which touts the high designer angle and famous architect, we arrived to be told that because we had booked with a third party we had been ‘upgraded’ to a sister hotel. We were then walked a couple of blocks to a run-of-the-mill, conservative hotel - nice enough, and breakfast thrown in as a sweetener, but NOT the hotel we had booked, and not one we were willing to pay top dollar for.
When we complained and traipsed back to where we started, all was made right. But by then the experience was soured, and we felt patronised and unwelcome. An accidental (?) wake-up call at 4.30am then stole away the good night’s sleep that one might expect in a luxury hotel. Not a 5 star experience.

Great location and service

We came here for our 10 year anniversary and were greeted with rose petals and chocolate hearts on the bed. This was a lovely touch. The room was was very modern with a movie print on the ceiling. The reception staff were very hospitable. The hotel is very close to the station and near some great restaurants.

Comfort & luxury for family or romantic getaway

Outstanding, very comfortable experience either for family, or romantic getaway. Our suite was like a treehouse (albeit an elegant one), big picture windows overlooking the park. All of the amenities were perfect, the staff unfailingly polite and efficient, the location central and convenient. Five stars all the way around.

Pretty much spot on

Located in the \"new\" part of town, but it doesn't really matter - the old town, where most of the bars and restaurants are, is no more than a few minutes stroll across the river. The hotel has an ambient and welcoming lobby, clean modern rooms..... but for some reason the common areas resemble a cell block. Uncarpeted stairs, grim walls and heavy grey steel doors. I really didn't get it, they've clearly put a lot of time and thought into the theme and vibe of the rest of the hotel.

Anyway, the rooms each feature a movie decor, which is interesting. You can actually open the windows. An excellent coffee machine. A large TV with UK channels. A large selection of essentials, not just soaps and shampoos. In short, a very thoughtful hotel.

We only had one meal there, but it was truly excellent. We skipped breakfast as it was 30CHF each, and for that I'd prefer to wander around and look for a bakery.

Very helpful staff, always pleasant. Turndown service left a weather forecast for the next day on the pillow - again, a thoughtful touch.

Just a shame about the cell doors....!

Good location but bring a torch!

Great spot, easy walking distance from station, kappelbrucke, old town, sleeping lion etc. The whole hotel is in a state of constant darkness and we had excellent sunshine whilst there. If you our your partner like to blow dry your hair, apply makeup, shave etc you will need to bring a torch.
They don't appear to have duvets for the double beds so you end up with 2 separate ones - could be a good thing if your partner's a quilt thief!
The ceiling decoration in our room was a bit odd, obviously something taken from a film, but sleeping under the image of a young woman undressing whilst having a gun held to her head may not appeal to everyone.
Finally be aware when booking through Expedia it will tell you that \"Taxes\" are included but, according to the hotel, this is just VAT so you will be charged tourist/resort tax - it is only CHF3.55 per night, not much but the information is misleading at best.

The hotel is top class but the approach suffers due to road construction in the neighborhood, which I believe will finish in October.
It is close to lake, museums and other attractions.
Staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast was nice.
We were upgraded to a penthouse room, which was exceptional

Comfortable hotel right next to Zermatt station

We checked into the Junior suite facing the mighty Matterhorn/ Rosa mountains. Very close to the Zermatt railway station. Quite spacious rooms ,had 2 baclonie. Nespresso machine was a good addition as I am quite addicted to them. My baby's cot was nicely done. The breakfast could improve a lot. Overall the staff were very courteous and hospitable. No refrigerator/ electric kettle in the room.

A gem in a beautiful city

This place is wonderful. We've never had more helpful and friendly service at a hotel. The location is great... a few blocks from the train station, close enough to be convenient but far enough to be quiet. If you're planning to see the Rosengart Gallery this hotel is just two or three blocks away. The food is excellent too. We would definitely go back.

Good Hotel Near Train Station

The rooms in this hotel are very modern, although the decor may be more for design than function (e.g., lack of wall plugs by the bed). The bathrooms are large (even in the studio deluxe I had) and clean. The hotel is easily within walking distance from the train station. It also has a nice bar downstairs with very friendly bartenders. I'd recommend this hotel if you can get a good price.

Great location, great food and an nice vibe

Great hotel. Its less than 5 minutes walk from the main station. 10 minutes on foot would take you anywhere in the old town. The food in the restaurant is fantastic.

The only negative is that the rooms can sacrifice practicalities for cool design. Ours didn't really have enough storage. But at least the place doesn't feel like every other hotel you have been in.

Great Central Location in a Chic Hotel

Was looking for a last minute hotel near the train station. The arrival was a pleasure, we were clearly expected. Very convenient to the main train station (3 blocks). Great staff. We arrived early and they let us check in early. Don't be in a hurry for the elevator...there is only one and it is slow. Room was well appointed and had a little mini-fridge, which is an asset in my book. Very clean. My wife loved the 6 foot long bathtub as she could soak completely in it when we arrived. I have to mention the bath further. Nice, clean, modern, long tub. But common sense took a back-seat to aesthetics when designing the tub / shower. The tiny, contemporary shower doors don't keep the water in, and the shower head can't be put in position to keep the water in, making you mimic the Hunchback of Notre Dame when showering. Only other complaints with our stay...we purchased the round-trip tickets to Mt. Pilatus directly from the hotel desk. They gave great directions on the trip, which is an all-day event. The one thing they did not communicate was the time of the last of the boat trip from the bottom of the incline railway back to Luzerne (something we were both looking forward to after a full day of sightseeing). When we got to the boat dock, we found out we missed the last one (1640 hours) by just a few minutes. Would have been nice to know this as we would have left the mountain sooner. Also, our bill showed 60 francs for a breakfast we didn't eat, which was happily refunded.

Fantastic location and friendly staff

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was located across from a little park about 2 blocks from the lake and entrance to the old bridge that crosses into the old town. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The rooms were very nice with good air conditioning.

Great hotel for business and adults

Received a room upgrade upon arrival for 3 occupants. The decor is modern; but may not be the most comfortable for some. The shower and bath combination was a bit tricky to handle.

Location is great, within walking distance.

The hotel restaurant was disappointing.

Interesting and enjoyable for couples

This was a lovely hotel and the staff were very helpful. The restaurant was fabulous for dinner, but I wasn't so enthusiastic about breakfast. The morning meal was waiter service only and comprised of muesli, yoghurt, pro-biotic drink, fresh orange juice, coffee, omelette, cold croissants, cold ham, cheese, fruit salad and fresh bread. The food was nice enough, it just wasn't to my taste.

The only other slight issue that we experienced was with the shower. The wall mount only allowed the shower head to be attached to the wall sideways, which meant that for taller people (over about 165cm), it got a bit uncomfortable for the back and neck.

Contemporary, artistic, courteous!

We had a wonderful stay.
We liked the hotel's decor and the bathroom amenities. We had a lovely breakfast (cheese, meat, fruit, yogurt, fresh juice, and bread). The front desk staff was very nice and very helpful...their friendliness made the stay extra special.
Location is conveniently close to the train station, but off the main street (which makes it more pleasant).

Brilliant all-round

Brilliant hotel - exactly what I was looking for on my one night stay for the Lucerne Festival. Discreet, comfortable, conveniently central and brilliant service. Its modern design might not be to everyone's taste, but it's well designed and certainly original. Will definitely stay here again when I return to Lucerne next year.

You ARE cool enough to stay here!

Others have said it, and I agree... the Hotel is fabulous! From the moment we stepped into the ultra stylish lobby to when we sadly said good-bye, our stay was flawless.

The Hotel is like staying in a gorgeous modern art installation, in a good way. Each detail, from the interplay of gleaming stainless to the warmth of dark wood, is carefully planned and executed. The lighting is dark and dramatic, and the staff, dressed in black (of course) is charming, helpful and remembers who you are, your room number, etc.

Our favorite highlights included eating in the restaurant, Bam Bou and looking up to a high window that looked into the lobby - whenever someone would walk in, it looked like a giant screen - the guests becoming part of the art. We also loved the glowing night stands and ceiling mural.

The room was huge, the bathroom perfect, the amenities (robes, body care items, sheets, etc.) luxurious. The steel outdoor louvered blinds (controlled by a bedside button) effectively blocked out any light and greatly reduced the minimal street noise and church bells.

The neighborhood is perfect - the hotel sits across from a small park, plus it's only a 5 minute walk from the train station or the old town.

However, if you prefer classic, old school hotels or are very conservative, this is not the hotel for you. But isn't doing the same old thing, boring? You ARE cool enough to stay here. Give it a try!

And may I end with?... well worth the price!

Best European hotel experience

We were charmed from the greeting at the front desk to a farewell with bottled water as we left after our day of sightseeing. Hotel staff was very helpful getting concert tickets at the KKL and offering advice for dinner after the performance. We have recommended other family members visiting in September consider staying at The Hotel.

Déplorable nous avons dû quitter l'hotel

Hôtel complètement sur évalué, jamais il mérite 5 étoiles, la suite n'est pas une suite tellement petite, pas de rideaux aux fenêtres, stores défectueux impossible de fermer la vue directe depuis la rue. Nous avons été obligés de demander un remboursement total de la la réservation et avons trouver dans l'urgence un autre hôtel.
Le design est pas mal, mais le niveau de propreté totalement négligé.
Les communs sont pas du tout à la hauteur d'un hôtel 5 étoiles, ça ressemble à un 3 étoile et encore.
Bref nous espérons que la direction de l'établissement saura prendre les mesures nécessaires.
