Pros: The guest house is 9 mins walk to the train station. It is close to restaurant and other amenities. The bed is comfy

Hotel has a good location. Was not too difficult to walk to from city bus line. Be aware that there is no elevator. You will have difficulty with the stairs if bringing heavy luggage.

Cheap and cheerful hotel in a beautiful and convenient street. Safe and quiet, clean and comfortable. Friendly staff and good wifi. Theres no fridge or aircon but there is an electric kettle and strong hot water in the shower. Highly recommend

The location was very central and our room was very cute. The pool was across the street at the sister hotel and was enjoyed. Our hotel was very quiet; there were varying degrees of street noise sensing on the day but closing the windows and using the overhead fan blocked out the noise. We loved our stay!

The area is super noisy. Bars downstairs that open to 2am and people continuing shouting on the street till 3am or later. The place has no AC, super hot, therefore, you have to open the window and hear all the noise. About 5:30, you start hearing people walking and talking and laughing again. ( we stayed on the top floor- even that didn’t help with the noise) We didn’t sleep all night which was very horrible for travelers who have tour plan all day everyday. Will not recommend it. Staff are nice though.

We had to carry our luggage up 3 flights of very narrow stairs. No one offered to help us. The girl who checked us in would not take the time to tell us if our other friends had checked in as she said she was too busy, but there was no one else checking in. Every time any of our group went to the desk to ask a question, she was rude to them. The location was great to walk around Lucerne which made it nice.

The reception is basically across the street from the property, no problem at all. The location is perfect, right on the main waterfront area.

They let us check in early and leave our luggage to explore on check out day, we appreciate that.

Power outlets could be found under the built in end tables.

Shower actually fully closed, this seems uncommon in europe.

The only downsides:
There was a large woden beam at a 45 degree angle near the 3rd bed, and my daughter bumped her head on it twice, once quite badly.

No elevator and we were on the 3rd floor.

Had a tv but no channels or streaming services. 😕

Convenient and Quaint Hotel

It was convenient in its location, but the celing fan was wobbly and unreliable. Also, the top right portion of the bed sheet had a ripped slash. If you want convenient and within walking distance of the sites, it will suit your needs. We really enjoyed Lucerne, so this was hotel suited our needs.

Good experience.

They upgrade us to stay at opposite hotel. Very spacious room facing the street. Check in and check out process were smooth. They allow us to store luggage because we came earlier than check-in time.
Location 5-10min walk to main station.
The rosli guest house don't have lift so not reccomended if you have big luggage.

Location is the greatest advantage of this property. Right in the middle of the old town. Walkable distance to the bahnhof (train station), chapel bridge and a lot of good restaurants and shops.

No major complaints as this place was MUCH cheaper than other surrounding places and we were only in Lucerne for one night. The room was small and outdated, but the bed was comfy enough. The hotel is definitely older which can be a plus or minus depending on what your travel style is, but we didn't mind. Light sleepers might have a hard time with how thin the walls are, and the noise of people coming in and out. The location was ideal though and we could easily get anywhere we wanted to go in 5-10 minutes. If you're going to be there for awhile, you may want a hotel with a little more comfort to it but this was perfect for a quick trip.

Mediocre Accommodation.

In the USA, we would consider this a motel room, so it is a bit highly priced for the accommodations - but everything in Switzerland is expensive. The floor was not clean and one could feel grit in walking barefoot on the floor. I would probably elect to stay in a different place given the price for the accommodation. It was however, very central to things we wanted to visit. It was easy to find and the check-in process was easy.

Beds were really comfortable, and it was great to be able to sleep 5 adults in one room. Rather miss american custom of in-room coffee maker and fridge. No food allowed in rooms. And no air conditioning. Slept with the window open and it was very comfortable. Very helpful staff and an excellent stay.

Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

They asked for CHF10 to store our 2 small carry-on luggages for 6 hours! Unbelievable. Never seen anything like this. It is more expensive than the lockers at the station. But besides that; storing luggages for the afternoon after checking out shouldn’t be a paid service. I can’t imagine what else they are charging for. I saw that they they charge CHF 5 for a small bottle of water. Overall it is very cheap service. Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Moreover the noise level at night was very high. Hard to sleep unless you are extremely tired. Luckily we were.

The photos advertising for this hotel are not correct, they are for the hotel across the street (Baseltor I think) and the pool is located at that property as well. This is just an annex, located down the street from this and all amentities. The “double bed” was two twins pushed together, they even used two twin sheets and didn’t even try to hide it not to mention the pillows were awful and the beds incredibly hard. The floor had so many stains on it I refused to walk around in my own room without shoes. It desperately needs a deep cleaning of the rooms as well as common areas.

Don't stay here unless you must be central.

The initial checking in was quite efficient but it wasn't at the premises where we were staying and they were much worse than the check in building. The decor of the common areas and room were very tired and the facilities minimal. It was very noisy indeed and most diffiicult to sleep.

Walking distance from the Lucerne train station. Old town with tourist attractions are mostly nearby, nice eateries along the rIver closeby.
Rooms are basic but we'll maintained. Bunker beds are good attraction for kids.

Terrible experience, will never go again

To begin with we were given the wrong room, second the bathroom was smelling horrible, we complained all they could go is give us a spray which did not help, third we heard loud noises from midnight to 3 am because some school kids were stay above us, could not sleep whole night, customer service closes at midnight. Complained by hotel staff (which was only one person) was very rude.

The add said \"city view\", but we had the view of a toilet (the bathroom was just 1-2 meter away from our window). The room did not have any cooling system and was extremely hot, we did not sleep well. We stayed here for the location, which is the only good thing about this hotel.

Modest hotel close to the river, birds wake you up in the morning (which is nice). Photos are pretty accurate, so you'll know what you'll get for what you pay. Good location at 10 min from the train station and the lake. Personnel friendly and eager to help. Rooms are small and cramped and don't even mention the bathroom (a cruise ship's is bigger!), but after all, this is Europe; the room is confortable and the place has swimming pool and whirlpool. Didn't charge me extra for keeping my luggage till check-in time. I'll stay again.

I don’t know about other rooms but ours was in the attic.
Young travellers wouldn’t have an issue going up all the stairs with their luggage.
But it was challenging for us.
The carpet was dirty, needed a really good vacuuming.
Bathroom and bedding was clean though.
The location was great, we enjoyed walking around town.

except location, I don't have anything good to say for this hotel. Carpet was so old, looks like dirty all the time. Bed was not comfortable. Room was so small, felt claustrophobic most time. Not close to what we saw online when booking! Bathroom was very narrow and standing shower was not even 4x4 feet. Front desk guy was very rude. They were not welcoming at all! I would stay on street rather than staying in such hotel.

I am very disappointed during my stay in late December.I totally cannot accept the working attitude of the staff, especially the one called in the reception. When we checked out, he asked us if we drank the charged water in the room. We could not understand that due to the accent. We respect different accents across the world so we asked him to repeat the question again. He immediately turned up his volume and we really felt disturbed. After that, we would like to store our luggage in the hotel for a while, he told us, with a poor manner, that we needed to pay 10 franc for each piece of luggage. He said that \"Can you open your eyes to SEE!!!\" and was pointing to the notice on the door at the same time. We were shocked, totally shocked! We have never met this kind of reception staff. We are not asking for very good service but we are asking for respect and a proper manner. I don't know whether it is related to our race, Asian, leading to this terrible episode. But anyway, this definitely ruined our mood for the remaining journey.
I would not recommend others to this hotel.

The area was beautiful but when we came the attendant was very rude and ridiculed us because we didn't see his small sign. We had to carry 6 suitcases up 6 flights of stairs and the temperature inside was unbearable. We didn't sleep all night . Not worth the money.

The environment is clean. Everything is basic. Just towels are provided and nothing more. You can't even borrow a kettle. The electricity system is terrible and one switch for everything. Once you switch off the light, all electricity is cut. Want to charge your phone and camera? Remember to bring your own eye mask!

Short stay but sweet!

We stayed just one night on our way to Italy. This hotel is ideally situated close to the river and many restaurants in walking distance. I had made an error in my booking and the hotel staff were very accomodating in allowing me to change with minimal penalties. I would definitely chose this hotel againas we plan to be back in Lucerne some day!

Stay was okay as we didn't expect more than that but didn't like the fact that hotel charged us more than what we were told by HOTEL.COM, almost $150.00 extra. I made my booking over the phone with hotel.com rep to ensure that I pay what is shown on the Web but to my surprise I was charged more. Also, when I told ab I UT this to hotel.com I was given a credit of 100 us. UT that too for future booking and I was made feel that this is the only option I have. One rep was able to see the original booing rate of 512.20 and the other said that he don't see anything. I had to just believe him and he helped me like he was doing me a favor . I will advice not to book a hotel where hotel.com don't charge directly because if it says that hoyle will charge then get everything ( screen shot of room rate, record conversation and do whatever it takes ) because y I u get frustration only afterwords. I am out of 150.00 today and have a credit voucher of 100 and that too for future . I am a long time customer of HOTEL.COM and this is first bad experience.

We were taken surprise that it doesn't have lift. With 2 children and 5 luggage (3big 2medium) and just 3 women to climb 3 level up was every challenging.
It would be nice if information such as no lift in the building was mentioned in the website.
