No staff, self check-in. Bathroom walls needed washing. Only 1 hand towel. Theres a coffee machine on the 3rd floor that we found on our 3rd day (some signage pointing us to it would have saved us a 10 minute walk every mor ing for coffee). Bed was good, location was great.

This is a good place to stay for a short stay to visit Lucerne. It is pretty limited though. There is no desk service, check in is on a tablet, but for us the tablet was not working so we had to call a number and they walked us through how to activate a room card. The room is clean, but small and a little dated. The location is great and easy to walk to everything in town.

Great location. I loved the room and all the extras—clean room and comfortable bed. Luzern is a tourist city, so why doesn’t the hotel use English? I received 5–6 emails from you, and I couldn’t understand any of them. The self check-in system doesn’t work. We were three different guests, and all of us had to call for help. Also, there’s no soundproofing from the hallway —you hear everything and get woken up constantly.

We never came in contact with a hotel staff member, so there was no one to ask questions if needed. The location was fantastic, but very noisy both late into the evening and early morning. The room was clean and comfortable, other than the noise keeping you up late and waking you up early.

Really enjoyed the location of the Hotel Schlüssel in the old town area of Luzern. Everything is within a 5 to 10 minute walk, and it is just enough off the beaten path to be away from the noisy crowds in other parts of town. There is also a pay laundromat just a street over which was very convenient and we made use of during our stay.

There is no onsite staff, giving it more of the feel of a personal rental. This was never really an issue for us other than requesting two room keys at check in and only being able to make one. As an aside, i made another later the first day which worked, but then the original no longer functioned.

We really appreciated the fan in the room for our use, which allowed us to keep it comfortable during our 4 day stay even with moderate heat during the day. During the night we also kept the window open with the fan on to bring in cool air but the proximity to the church next door and the bells which peal every 15 minutes all night long made this not a good of an idea. Having the window closed really made this a non issue for sleeping and there is definitely a pleasant historical vibe to their consistency.

Loved staying in the city for it's charm and location, and the Hotel Schlüssel just added to the overall enjoyment of our visit.

An excellent property with central location to trains and busses but also in the heart of old town. Rooms are generously spatious and a sweet addition from the hosts is a free mini bar for coffee and light refreshment (beer, coke, water). Highly recommend!

We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Schlüssel! The staff was incredible and made us feel like family. We appreciated that we were just enough off the beaten path in a beautiful courtyard with a church dating back to 1270! It was quintessential and relaxing. The train station was less than a 10-minute walk, making it perfect for exploring Suisse. They also had an amazing restaurant, and we ended up eating there all three nights. I can't recommend this hotel enough! Thank you, Hotel Schlüssel, for making our experience exceptional!

It was amazing. Only thing I need an air conditioner or cooler. It was hot but I couldn’t open the window because smoking didn’t stop from the bar on the 1st floor. I couldn’t breathe if I open the window. I should be patient hot or smoke. It was so hard.

Great location. Good size room for family of 4. They provide free water bottles and soft drinks, which is great.
Room did not have air conditioner and did not have good ventilation. Romm has only one window which skis did not open completely, opened only 25% due to safety I guess . They did provide 2 table fans. But that was not enough on hot summer days of our stay . It was extremely uncomfortable.

The good; Historic building. Next to a the beautiful Franciscan church.

The not so good: as a hotel, the facilities match the age of the building. There is no air conditioning it was a hot night, and we had to keep the windows open. The church bells Rand all night, at each quarter hour, and tolled out the hour.

We were leaving the room at 11:10 am. The housekeeper, with her best Frau Blucher impression, reprimanded us for not leaving the room at 11 am.

We stayed here for two nights. Our experience was more like renting an apartment from a private person that a room in a hotel. The reception desk was not available at check in, and few times I needed something for my room maybe after 4 pm. Overall room was clean but everyone who rent a room should be aware of the church bells that go off every 15 minutes, even during the nights.

overall, I don't like it and will not recommend it. it is convenient, however, the room is very small, without air conditioning. it was very warm. by opening the widow overnight, I got street noise as well as a large number of mosquito bites.

Excellent location just off the lake near pedestrian bridge allowing for easy access to dining and amazing views of the city. Close to the train station. Adorable balcony to overlook the square, but the fountain was drained so was not able to enjoy that. There is a church right across from the hotel, which means frequent bell ringing, although we found them not to be too loud. We checked in on a Sunday, so there was no reception open, which was unusual and potentially inconvenient although we had no problems.

Hotel was good, not great. Rooms are very small and there are steps needed even with the elevator. There is no storage area for clothes, so living out of a suitcase was necessary but not wanted. That meant using precious floor space for open suitcases. Good location near the old city.

We came in very tired from our overseas flight. It was a very hot day. Check in has humorous because the innkeeper had her dog there and the sweet puppy wasn’t used to being there, and annoyed the old dog that the person in front of us had. She, the innkeeper was very sweet.
We were super tired so we barely took in any sights before crashing. We woke up at 11:05 and scrambled to get everything together as check out was 11:00. The person who checked us out seemed annoyed or maybe ready for us to be gone as he didn’t ask how our stay was and seemed put out that we asked to leave our luggage for a bit while we went to find some coffee.
The room seemed clean but it must have been the first day of fan use, due to the heat, because the partition wall to the bathroom had a layer of dust on it that snowed all over the floor in that area of the room.
Lovely little hotel, but be sure you check out on time!

Think again...

Following great reviews here, we were hugely disappointed by a complete lack or decency or thought to clientele. Upon our arrival well before 6pm, there was no one from the hotel to check us in, only bar/restaurant staff. 1) We lost complete phone signal as soon as we walked in, and there was no wifi code written anywhere at reception. 2) They had zero information or desire to help us with Car Parking - you have to park off site and it is not 25 CHF as it says, that rate is only applicable if you book in advance, we ended up paying 46 CHF for less than 24 hours. 3) Upon arrival to our apparently 'Deluxe' tiny room, heating was switched on maximum but the room was Cold, they said they would turn it up, it did not change all through a VERY Cold nights sleep. 4) At 11am on the dot (with the Do Not Disturb sign clearly visible) the cleaners knocked on our door, we politely asked for an extra hour then the Manager comes to our door saying out in 5 minutes or pay another night. These people should study how to host because they really have no clue. The hotel was also quiet, you would think they would go the extra mile during COVID but oh no, quite the opposite. We were planning on extending our stay an extra 5 days if we felt good in their establishment. Clearly we moved on rapidly. Appalling service and staffing. Wasted opportunity in what is a quite beautiful building in a reasonable location.

A nice place to stay.

We booked the hotel just before our arrival only to discover no-one at reception to check us in. Very kind neighbors at next door cafe and florist shop were able to contact management. We waited a half hour for management to arrive and enjoyed a drink at the cafe. If arriving on a Monday or Tuesday make arrangements for your check in in advance. Also the restaurant is closed on Monday and Tuesday. Spacious and clean room in a very convenient location. Nice balcony with table and chairs overlooking plaza. No air control in room, just a fan so we left windows open at nights. A little noisy in the mornings with delivery trucks running engines.

Quit Searching, Hotel Schlüssel is what you want

Hotel Schlüssel is amazing. Its a smaller hotel, with reception on the second story (don't be confused you're in the right place, just got upstairs). The hotel was built circa 1545 and has so much history! The staff is wonderful and the room we stayed in was very comfortable. (In fact the most comfortable of the 4 we stayed in while in Europe.) The area around the hotel is walk able and safe.The only drawback is that the wifi is not great, you have to be in the lobby to use it which makes staying connected to friends and family at home a little hard. But really, you're going on vacation to disconnect, right?! Honestly, this hotel was simply perfect and I would stay there 100 times over again.

Hotel is centrally located and easy walk to old town and sites. We received a card for free bus transportation which we used to Mt Pilatus and transportation museum. US travelers budget extra money for food 2-3x what we would normally pay. The hotel staff and people on the street were very helpful

The hotel itself is very clean and tidy and also spacious. The area around is excellent , I do wish I have stayed longer. The only downside was the weak wifi but it didn’t really bother me that much (:

Old charm, perfect location

The bed was comfortable, the room was charming, the shower was great and the location is very quiet, next to a lovely church in a rustic corner just over the bridge from the busier center. Everything is within walking distance. The hotel boasts a very good returaunt up stairs and also has an outdoor seated area where they serve food and drinks. We loved this hotel and will go back one day

Old charm with Love

I loved this hotel, right on the center of the city close to the train station, location location, location. Next to Catholic Church, very good for Christmas Eve mass.
Very charming, old vibe, so cute. If you like ancient building with huge character, this is it!, no Modern ultra luxurious, then this is not the one. Clean, nice, comfortable, little cold filtered through the window, which was OK. part of the charm. Different floors, wooden beans, elevator so small and narrow, will do the trick for slim to normal shape of body, It fit my two huge luggage. Own bathroom, shower, sink, toilet inside room, NICE!.The staff were really sweat, multilingual, easy to accommodate the guests. Breakfast was a great continental one, everything fresh, croissants, juices, cold cuts, and cheese, Uhm…(at no extra charge) Also, milk and coffee so delicious. The restaurant inside was cozy and nice, excellent food, not a lot of variety, will feed the hunger in you.
I just love old charm :)

A Hidden Gem

What a wonderful find this was! The hotel is tucked away from the tourist areas in the historic district. I think it is considered the newer historic district. The hotel is a family run business along with their restaurant The staff was very friendly and attentive. Our room was spacious with comfortable beds. The bathroom was modern. It's within easy walking distance from the train station. Shopping and restaurants were also easily within walking distance. It was a lovely stay.

The staff was very helpful. When we called for late check in request the lady on the phone kept telling us that she doesn't understand English and we should call back in 10 minutes every time we called. We had to call at least 5 times and then we gave up since we were busy enjoying our vacation too.however otherwise the staff was helpful and very courteous. The rooms were clean.a great place for the price we paid. It was literally in the middle of the city.

Nice Hotel, Good Experience

Nice small hotel in an old but recently renovated building. The hotel stretches over 3 or four floors with just a few rooms on each floor. The stairs are steep but there is also an elevator.
The location is very close to the river and the two old bridges just about 10 minutes walk from train station in a nice small square with a fountain and a church.
Narrow cobbled streets, small boutiques, bars and restaurants are plenty in this part of town.

Room was ok & modern but the rest of the hotel was dated. If people require parking I'd advise using the back of the hotels address as there is a car park directly opposite, also upon arrival validate the ticket and you get a discount. We literally checked in & it was too late so we had to pay full price. One more point is the rooms provide coffee but no tea, that would've helped. Unfortunately the roads are being renovated therefore it was noisy from 7am onwards.

The hotel office was closed when we arrived. We were unable to reach the manager despite having another hotel call the after hours number. We ended up staying in a different hotel. There were other guests having the same issue despite contacting the manager earlier in the day to inform them of their arrival time. We had arrived at 7:45 pm.

Great location-easy walk from train station, has wonderful restaurant at the hotel, very close to lots of shopping, and close to the river in Lucerne. Great comfy room, lift for easy floor access, and very helpful staff all around. Highly recommend this establishment.

The hotel is next to an old church and within the old town. The building is almost 500 years old and the style of hotel decorations and facilities, such as lamps and furniture, are in tune with the ambience. The room has a cute coffee maker.

Great location and staff but....

We stayed here in August 2017 in a family room for my wife and me and our two teenage kids. Chose it because of location (great!) and rating on Expedia. It is a wonderful historic building with a restaurant and bar out front. Staff was excellent and could not have been more accommodating. However, the family room we booked was a disappointment. It lacked air conditioning (not usually an issue in Lucerne) but it was unusually warm which made the room uncomfortable at night. There is another bar with a patio on the other side of the building which had singing and noise until about midnight and then major roadwork started at 7:00 AM. The room was simply too hot to keep the windows closed so the noise made it tough to sleep. Couple this with the second bed being a pull out couch which the kids equated to \"sleeping on the ground\" and the wifi only working at the check in counter and it made for a less than ideal two night stay.

The hotel was nice. Nice bed and shower... however if you are large you might not fit in the shower because the opening in our shower was about a 1 1/2 foot wide. The staff was very nice and the hotel is centrally located. But like I said... if you need WiFi you will not get it in your room. Literally you need to go within 10 feet of the reception area to get any service. Really hurt us since after 3 weeks of traveling throughout Switzerland we burned through our data and needed Wifi the last 2 days. Also breakfast was not included we paid 18 SF a piece and it was average and very small choices. Lastly construction outside our hotel started at 7am every morning.

Husets anbefalede reataurant var desværre ferielukket,men så hyggelig ud.

Indtjekning af alder kunne tidligst regnes fra 1970, så jeg fik en kraftig \"foryngelseskur\".

Selvbetjenings minibar virkede super på bagrund af god gammeldags tillid, der var bare ingen oplagte steder at lægge ekstra betaling.
Måske kan nøglekort kasse bruges.
