I thought the staff was nice and helpful.. the area is easy to get to and very pretty and safe....take number 19 bus..... but i could not stay there again for 2 reasons...1- the mattress was awful...my back was killing me, its very thin...i brought my own blanket to cover the pillowcase even though they give you clean sheets and im glad they did...2- the shower was soo small i could barely put my clothes on...ive stayed in many hostels and this was good for one night but the mattress was painful and im.glad it was just 1 night.. I was in a room with 4 other females

Short Review of the Hostel

The late check-in (after 9 PM) was confusing.

For late check-in I was asked for my credit card and my passport data even though Hotels.com advises not to give that data.

The Hostel was filled with loud kids and there were no towels.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Easy to check in, room was clean. Was hostel-style, so not always the most quiet, but was not overly loud, quiet during quiet hours. Wifi was good, shared bathrooms were clean, and plentiful, did not have to wait to use bathroom or shower, there was enough for the demand. Included breakfast was delicious, included coffee and juice, big bonus! Did have a problem with accessing the front door after hours (key card wouldn’t let me in), and another guest had to let me in, but the front desk was quick to fix this in the morning once it was brought to their attention. Attentive, kind staff. Safe neighbourhood, walkable to downtown Luzern (with a large steep hill on the way to the hostel… would have to be able bodied enough for it), but also lots of public transport in the area. Would recommend, very professional. Would stay with them again for sure.

First timer

This was my first hostel experience. Overall, it was fine but I had to get use to the small room with no frills and a shared bathroom. The experience turned out well overall and I would do one again. The biggest plus was the nice breakfast which saved us $. Getting to the hostel wasn't too bad. It was a 5 min. walk from the bus stop and 10 min. max. downtown from here.

Luzern Youth Hostel was very clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was really good as well. Best of all I had the room to myself, which was unexpected as it was a dormitory. If I could be guaranteed that I would stay in hostels always. The one downside is having to pay extra for a towel

I really can’t recommend this hostel. There was 1 female shower and 1 toilet for 6 quadruple rooms. I had to wait to shower and wait for the toilet. Other than that, it wasn’t too bad.

It's just like a simple dorm room style facilities. Very basic. Considering the cost of living in Lusern, I should not expect too much. However, there were some camp activities for middle schoolers (?) going on on the day we stayed. Kids running around yelling knocking our room door for no reasons. There seemed no adults supervision until like 10 pm. And the kids upstairs kept on making loud noise. They finally quiet down like 11:30 pm. I am sure this only happen occasionally. I hope the administrators of this facility can look into this issue.

Everything was well-run and the staff were all welcoming and hospitable. The shared bathrooms and showers were in great shape and always clean. Our only “complaint” was really just a suggestion: air hand dryers in the bathrooms instead of paper towels. The paper towels were above average in quality and we appreciated that, but we felt hand dryers might be more ecological. Overall, a great value for the money and well organized.

Booked on a Quad Room with the 2-bunk beds, shared T&B on Aug 16-19,2023.
Just very warm on summer days thus we opened the windows while on beds just to get fresh air.
Around 8mins walk to local bus stop, 8-10mins going to the Centre.
Breakfast included and good enough to start your day.
You have to pay extra for towel at €3.00 each however linens are free.
Warm Receptions a plus yet up to 7pm only.

It was my first hostel experience, and my only complaint is I did not know they had a laundry service until I left, I wish they advertised this somewhere, because I took the bus to do laundry. I also wish that they had fans for the room. Other than that the stay was perfect, and convenient

After spending my youth going through hostels, i wasnt expecting much, since prices in switzerland are generally very high, but we were very pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. Only downside is no ac in the room ans it was quite warm. But the windows openes (no screen) so it worked. Bathroom facilities were top notch.

Stayed in a private 2bd room so it seemed more like a regular hotel (compared to dorm room hostel) with shared bathroom facilities.

It was clean and although it's called Youth Hostel, there were older people and families as well (I imagine because Switzerland is expensive this is a good way to save a few bucks).

Stayed on a weekend and the noise levels were totally fine. Parking was super easy and cheap. The bus straight in to town is only about a 5 minute walk away and they give you a free bus pass as well.

Avoid if you value sleep

Dreadful place. Bare walls and floors, the absence of soft furnishings etc meant that it was noisy above my room, in the corridor and next door up to midnight and from 6am next day. Rooms are like clean and tidy cells with not one spare socket or seat other than a tiny stool. Staff were very helpful - not their fault that the place is not fit to be on a hotel website. Vastly overpriced for what's on offer. Like been in a playground.

My first time at Youth, for sure this is for young student or very active people, staff are good, and same as public area. bathroom are clean.

But room itself is not for family, this build right face to a road with a lot of traffic, we arrived at at day with 32C, which we could not close window, noise all night. if you want something basic with nice price, this one maybe your choice, otherwise go somewhere else.

It was a spot difficult to locate even with google maps. There is no elevator and there are very few toilets and washrooms for the number of people using it. There is no wifi in the rooms which was annoying. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Helpful staff, somewhat convenient location, good breakfast. Only drawback, internet reception went out once you got past the first two floors. Perhaps they did this because those staying in the dormitory would have to listen to any alarms or alerts going off coming from cellphones.

It’s a lie, there is NO WIFi, and NO SERVICE. You are in a cave! Both WiFi / Data only work downstairs in the lobby. It is very annoying having to go all the way downstairs just to send a text or google something regarding Lucerne. Also, the staff wastes your time. Be prepared to wait minutes on end just for one person, the only person, to end a phone call and finally talk to you. Or finally stop paper clipping files in the back. All this, when they KNOW you are right in front of them waiting patiently. So rude. You are their last priority. The ventilation sucks too. Maybe it was just the wind direction in our room but I doubt it. If you like being ignored, having no WiFi OR data, and baking like a potato in an oven while you sleep, this place is for you!

Great hostel!

This is a hostel not a 5-star hotel. With that said, I had an amazing time staying in the female dormitory (which happened to be empty during the time I was there! - end of October). The front desk employees were very helpful and informative. I got to rent a bike with a helmet and it wasn't too expensive. They let you rent for a half a day or a full day.
Since Uber doesn't operate in Lucerne, the front end girl helped me book a taxi back to Zurich airport and got me a good rate.
Breakfast was great. Nothing special just an open buffet continental breakfast which is cool.

You'll notice that people check in to this hostel with different ages (even families came with kids!)

Clean hostel, bad setup

Wifi only works in the lobby. When you go to the lobby to use, there aren't any outlets to charge your things so when you can use, your things die. When I was here, there were 40 kids running around and it made it difficult to get any trip planning or vlogging done. They were running all over the place, and because wifi only works downstairs, I had no choice to crank my music and try to ignore them. If wifi worked in the rooms, this wouldn't be a problem. I would not recommend staying here if there are large groups staying. Maybe ask before booking.

Hostel is clean and but a bit far from bus stop to city center. The walk to bus stop with luggage or late night is not really pleasant. Hotels.com or hostel should also indicate the booking bed room is mixed or one gender so one is not surprised by another person opening the door late after 10pm.

A Lucerne pour un concert, l'Auberge de jeunesse était à distance de marche de la salle et donc le choix logique.

Le séjour commence \"moyen\": la 1ère chambre qu'on m'attribue est de toute évidence occupée, la 2e n'a pas été nettoyée, après 3 allées-retours entre la 3 étage sans ascenseur et la réception, on fini par me trouver une chambre. Le plus étrange dans tout ça, c'est que l'endroit paraît pratiquement désert, je n'ai vu que 2-3 personnes pendants mon séjour.

La chambre était propre, le lit était ok. La salle de couche et les wc sont propres mais commencent à prendre de l'âge, Et on sent une odeur \"incrustée\" dans les toilettes.

Le petit déjeuner est standard pour une auberge de jeunesse.

Je ne regrette pas mon séjour, même s'il n'était pas transcendant, pour le prix ça allait.

Nice personel and amenities

We travelled as a family, two adults a 2 year old and a dog. The room was simple, with two separate beds but enough space to have also a luggage. The breakfast was included and it was pretty standar, but always nice to have. Personel was extremely nice, above all with my daughter. I loved the common rooms, there was one with sofas and books/toys and it was super convenient as there was a storm outside and we needed to have some entertainment. The only issue we had, but was expected, was the other guests. We go to bed pretty early (9 pm) and there was a group of teenagers that thought it was a good idea to run up and down the stairs and scream to each other. They eventually stopped around 11 pm. So bring some earplugs if you are a light sleeper (like me, my husband and daughter were snoring regardless).

Unorganisiert (in unserem Zimmer war noch der alte Mieter), wir haben ohne Säuberung das Zimmer übernehmen müssen (wir hatten um eine Reinigung gebeten und es nach langer Wartezeit dann doch selber gereinigt).
Insgesamt hat alles hat nach Urin gerochen, Zimmer, Flur,...das Frühstück war dafür gut.

The youth hostel is located very well and thats alteady the best thing.
The rooms are very small, old and very run-down. The toilet and bathroom/shower are in the hallway. There is only one toilet and one shower for the entire hallway. The breakfast selection was very limited and nothing special. It's simply not enough for such a high price you pay.

Affordable accommodation in Lucerne, about 3 km from the city center. Around 10 minutes by bus plus a short walk, or a 30-minute walk to town. The visitor card and included breakfast were nice extras.

Reception was open until 9 PM, and quiet hours were supposed to start at 10:30 PM, but unfortunately, guests were noisy and shouting throughout the night.
Otherwise private room was good enough for 2 people. Lift is not available so carrying big bags can be a problem too.

Air condition, not at all!
Should be incoming airsystem. It is e asy to drill hole to the out wall and assemle simple incoming air plowing preheating equipment. One good Mark is Mobair.
Also outgoing air by pipe whitch goes throug every room. That equipment to the inside ceiling every room.
These costs are reasonably.
