Staff was super friendly and helpful. Hotel was very unique with lots of personality. Hotel was clean and didn’t stink in the bathrooms etc. Parking was very good. Located in nice village like area. Plenty of hot shower water. Pillows and bedding were very comfortable. Breakfast was good compared to most but could still improve: (1) the fruit bowl did not seem fresh - it seemed canned or old (2) the breads did not seem fresh (3) limited selection of coffee/tea (4) milk for cereal was not very cold- needs to be chilled in ice or something or stored in a small cold fridge. Also it was a bit noisy at times as if any neighbor made noise it was easily heard thru the walls-we heard a baby crying at 6am which woke us up and kept going for an hour and a half same other kids banged on the floor repeatedly at 640-730am. There should be more insulation in the walls

Great Family Stay

This was an excellent hotel for our weekend stay. We did the deluxe family room, which gave us a little more room for our family of four plus a dog. The bathroom was a little tight, but the use of space in the sink area was well purposed. We enjoyed the free parking and the breakfast being included. We will be happy to suggest others to stay here.

We were especially in awe of the wood workings throughout the building…they are beautiful and elegant.

Very friendly hotel service!

I booked at the last minute and arrived at 21:45. Even this late I was very well received.
I asked to have a dinner and they kept the kitchen open for me with full menu choice.
Vegetarian and traditional dishes available.
Very nice and friendly staff!
Would warmly recommend.

We were stuck in the middle of nowhere with no contact or information.
Restaurant closed.
Bar closed.
My advice, don't ever stay at this hotel unless you wish to be a recluse.

A family hotel near Europa Park

We have booked a family room without ac. It's a room for 3 persons and they added a thourth bed. It's under the roof without lift so you have to take your luggage in the stairs. The design of the room is old but clean but the breakfast is very complete with different dishes. It's not far from Europa Park, it's why we have chosen this hotel.

Review of the \"haunted house\"

We were traveling with our kids, they asigned us a room in the 3th floor, without a lift or any kind of help to bring our belongings so we were obligated to go to the car many times. The place is very old, the beds noisy and uncomfortable, because it was the 3rd floor underneeth the triangular roof it was like sleeping in the attic. The furniture was very not child friendly with very sharp edges so my little one got hurt in the first 5 minutes, and the restroom was completey old and ugly, it was a desaster. My older boy called this place \" The Haunted House\". Not recomended.

Beautiful Clean Inn

Very nice hotel. We stayed here for two nights. The craftsmanship through this Inn is beautiful. Food was all very tasty and I would recommend eating there for dinner as long as there are not many people. We went back for dinner the second evening because the first evening was so good and were disappointed. The food was still good but it took 2 hours to get. They were busy and I think that they cannot handle being that busy. Still, a nice place to stay. Very quaint.

Quiet hotel near Freiburg

We booked and paid for a comefortable room with an air conditioner. They tried to fob us off with a second floor room with no air conditioner. The stairs are very steep if you have luggage. Air conditioner is set at minimum 22 and is tucked in the passage next to the bathroom. Had to have the windows open all night as the room was so stuffy. Room is very comefortable and breakfast is good.

Excellent Hotel highly recommend

Super position close to the A5 for an overnight stop between the French Alps & the Netherlands.
We had a very warm welcome and all of the staff spoke English which was great as our German is limited. Dinner was excellent I would happily have stayed longer to try everything on their mouth watering menu.The local wine from the village vinyard was very good.
Our room 24 was very comfortable with a large TV, bathroom with modern walk in shower & a balcony.
We had a good nights sleep and woke ready to sample the breakfast buffet.
The buffet was extensive, a wide choice of cheese, fish & meat on the cold table, super bread and the hot food included pancakes & rice pudding along with scrambled eggs, bacon & sausages,
Only thing I would have liked was a kettle and coffee in the room.
I will remember to take my own next time as we will be returning.

Good for eating Alfresco in Bavaria

A nice Alphine hotel ideal for a night stop when travelling. We were on a motorcycle touring holiday and stayed one night when we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff who showed to to a secure parking space. The decor of the restaurant is lovely all carved wood and Bavarian decor. We had a lovely meal in the beer garden and thoroughly enjoyed it. The breakfast buffet was plentiful the best with so many choices hot bacon eggs sausages and lots of cold meats and cheese.
The bedroom was very basic and dated but clean as was the bathroom.
The rooms would benefit being updated as the chairs were stained as was the toilet seat the beds were very low down and not very comfortable.

Father and Mother old owers are very nice , but their son and actual Chef and Manager Tomas, is a rude person.
The hotel offer WIFI connection , but it no works and the manager do nothing to resolve the problem, all guest
had same problem for more than 2 days.

This was a old style typical German hotel. It opened at 5 PM. I got the restaurant cook to get me a room key as I arrived earlier. The attached restaurant food was superb. The breakfast in the morning was great. I view this as \" a destination\" hotel/restaurant.

Easy to find with sat nav, and excellent position to visit different places in Germany, we went to Europa park, Black Forest and Freiburg from here. The restaurant was good and breakfast which was included was lovely, there was no toast but upon asking the owner made this for me every day. The only problem was the beds, although a lot of them have two singles to make a double.. these beds were very hard and the pillows were like an airbag. I ended up buying a pillow he following day because of the neck ache it caused.
Overall if the beds were different I would definitely stay here again, very friendly staff!

Good place for a stopover.

Used the hotel for stopover on way from UK to Italy. Fairly close to autobahn and very quiet. Good food and English menu available. Rooms fairly standard for mid class German hotel. I think I paid for a superior room and was unconvinced it was any different, but the premium was very small, so not worth getting upset about it.
Recommended for stopover.

The restaurant was very nice, with good food but as expected the service was not speedy. Food arrived just under an hour of ordering. The room was lovely, the bathroom was particularly nice. Unfortunately the noise levels from both the stairwell door and the restaurant beneath were very intrusive, resorting in me having to wear earplugs. The noise increased at 2300 when the restaurant cleanup began with constant banging, scraping and clattering lasting nearly an hour. Overall it was OK, but not if you plan to sleep before midnight.

Clean and tidy, rubbish wifi and hard beds

A one night stop over. The hotel was straight forwards to find so long as you have a sat Nav. The staff were friendly and polite, it is a family run affair. Generally a pleasant stay. Down sides, the Wifi was appalling, we could only get a signal sat in the bar and once I had logged on with my phone, that was it! nobody else in my part was able to access the internet on their devices which when you have 2 boys with kindles, phones etc is completely useless. The beds were like bricks! fine if you like a really firm mattress but after a 5 hour drive I needed to be soothed not punished! overall, it had promise, the beer was good (and quite strong - so be warned!!!) and the whole feel was good just a bit disappointing.

Nice hotel, but distance wrong on Expedia.

We found this hotel when looking for a place close to Freiburg. This one sounded perfect. Except Expedia said it was 3km out of town, but it ended up being over 20km!

Room was very nice. Very comfortable for 3 adults. But our room had several wires exposed, and the door handle was very loose. Breakfast was delicious. Staff was very friendly and helpful. WiFi was good.

Charming hotel but quite off the beaten path

We arrived late in the day, during a rain storm and sadly had to leave early the next morning. The hotel had very good food (try the venison!) and local wine, and the service was friendly. The only downside was there is NO LIFT, so you will have to carry your bags up and down the stairs. We were on the 3rd floor and had heavy bags, so that was a pain. But breakfast was included, the rate was very good, and the hotel was very cute. I wish we could have stayed a bit longer, especially since this hotel is quite out of the way. We thought we were lost more than once, since you pass through very tight residential streets and one-lane rural roads that twist and turn. You will definitely need a car to get there! But it is very quiet too :)

In the middle of nowhere, hotel ok for stopover

Hotel was ok but a long way from everywhere, reception was limited, as soon as we checked in there was noone to be found anywhere. We were very cold and wanted to ask about heating but could not find anyone, I walked around the entire hotel knocking on doors to no avail. We had to drive about 3 kms to find restaurant for dinner and thankfully that was good. Breakast was fine.

Quiet location in a typical German village

This is a wonderful Hotel/Gasthouse in a small German village very convenient to Freiburg. It has been in the family for 200 years passed down to the current owners who are friendly and welcoming. We would definitely return there and are so glad we chose this place instead of staying in Freiburg which is problematic with parking etc. We had a bit of trouble finding it because of roadworks in the area. We stayed two nights and had dinner in their restaurant on one of the evenings, which was very good and breakfast is included which included cereals, fruit, yogurts, sliced meats and cheeses, boiled eggs and various rolls and breads. The place was spotless and wifi is free.
If you are looking for a German experience and not a generic type of hotel chain this is highly recommended. They also had a nice Biergarten where you could sit outside in the summer evenings. Don't miss it.

Family Holiday

We were very pleased when we drove up to the hotel. Beautiful village, clearly from the outside very well tended. The houses and the hotel had beautiful flowers and hanging baskets all around. Parking was free and plentiful. Public areas of the hotel were also very nice and in keeping with the area - lovely wood carvings in the furniture and ceilings. Public areas also well tended. Initial impressions when we entered our family room were also good; size of room very good for the 3 of us; however on inspection we saw that the shower room was dated and had not had a deep clean in a long time. Mattresses were very uncomfortable and all 3 of us had a hard time sleeping - which wasn't helped by the fact that the walls in the hotel were paper thin - we could hear everything going on both in the rooms directly adjoining us and upstairs. Unfortunately, this was compounded by the drinkers outside - which on our first night didn't quiet down till around 11 (on both nights the noise outside prevented our young daughter from sleeping). The positive was the beautiful location - we had a lovely walk through the hills near the town our 1st day there, and also very close to Freiburg, which is why we chose it. Breakfast basic but ok. Family run operation, it being in the family for over 85 years, and all staff very friendly. Low overall rating because of the trouble sleeping due to the poor mattresses and noise.

Friendly family hotel with lovely room

The hotel and room was in great condition, bright and looked newly renovated. They changed the towel daily and all staff was really friendly. breakfast was included and there was a good variety of choices, even offered to make hot chocolate for our kids. There is an on site playground with trampoline. The only shortfall is that the hotel is about 10km away from freigburg, so for those without a car can be inconvenient.

For Euro 98 (3 persons), a great price for the main season. When we arrived there were things from other recent customers in the room due to mix-up. Room was a bit small (for 3) but otherwise fine and very clean. Narrow stairs and no lift may hamper transport of heavy luggage. Parking and a really good breakfast buffet were included inthe price. Overall very recommendable.

I loved this hotel. It has the feel of a Country Inn and it is close enough you can walk into town.. We stayed in several Hotels on a two week tour of Germany and this was my favorite. Our room had a small balcony that looked out over a grassy court yard. One big plus, the parking spots were easy to get in and out of.

Hard to find but the proprietors were very nice.

It's very difficult to rate this hotel as we arrived at 10 p.m. after several hours of trying to find it. [It showsTenningen as the address but it's actually in Bottingen.] So all we really did was check in, sleep there, have breakfast and check back out to hit the road. The staff was very friendly upon check in and check out but we really can't say much else. I chose this hotel because it received good reviews of how nice the people were and how much the reviewers liked it. Hotels.com needs to add an N/A choice to the ratings columns.

Out in the country

We loved this place, but if you go out of season and the restaurant is closed, be sure to eat in Friberg before you settle down for the evening.

It's worth a drive to win country, just southwest of there, so do some research. We went to the Sonnenhoff vineyard and had a great time!

Less people are comfortable with English in this region, so brush up on your German before you go. The dialect suggests that if you know French, you will be just fine.

Very nice newly renovated hotel!

My husband and I stayed at this hotel this past weekend. We had a wonderful stay. We were greeted by a lovely German woman. She did not speak any English at all, but was friendly and we were able to communicate. We were the only guests that night and thus they put us in a large room, that slept four. (we had only booked a double). I must say the rooms were VERY nice. They had obviously been very recently renovated. Also, the bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I've slept on in a long time.

Fantastic family run guesthouse

Travelling with 2 young children and this was a perfect choice. The quad room was nice and large with a queen bed in a separate room. Location is in smaller rural town, easy to access from the autobahn. Was perfect for exploring the neighbouring area including Freiburg with car. Very good breakfast. Best for us was the excellent restaurant downstairs- both nights we had very tired children so being able to have a really good meal close was wonderful.

Little Gem of an Hotel

We only stayed one night but thoroughly enjoyed our time there. It is situated in a lovely little village and is really convenient when using the A5 Autobahn, near to Freiburg.
The food we had was excellent, both dinner and the wide choice breakfast. It is not too expensive and we would definitely use this hotel again.

Adorable mom and pop hotel near Freiburg, Germany

Stayed here a few nights. It is a family run operation and everybody is very nice. Speak english quite well, but I spoke to them in German since I am fluent in both. Cute restaurant, good food, good price, make you feel like family. Had a hilarious cat named Oska that hung out by the reception area.

Hotel-hopping through Germany

Me and friends hotel-hopped through Germany staying in 8 places in 10 nights, and this was one of our favorite places. In general, we liked the guest houses better; they're more friendly, cheaper, and seem more authentically German. The room was fairly basic, and the beds were not the most luxurious, but everything was clean, the bathroom was what you would expect from a more expensive hotel, the staff was friendly, breakfast was good, and there is a typical guesthouse bar on the first floor (we had a long drive that day and it was nice to unwind with a beer when we got there). It's also in a quiet neighborhood, which was a plus for us because we just wanted to sleep. We were just staying there on our way to the Black Forest, so we didn't mind it being in the middle of a random neighborhood. Speaking of which, it's just a little off the autobahn, so it's easy enough to get to with a GPS-equiped car, but I would not recommend it if you are traveling by train.

Good home base location

Altohugh the rooms were not fancy at this hotel, they were clean,quiet and had plenty of hot water. We toured the Black Forest and surrounding area from here and it was in a good location t ohighways. The village it was located in was quite quaint and the hotel was also quaint. Both dinner and breakfast were very good. It is a family run business and everyone in the family was very accomodating and friendly. Good location, good food and good value.

We found the hotel to our liking: clean, comfortable, well maintained and with a great, typically German breakfast.

The hotel is in a lovely location, only 5 minutes from the autobahn which makes it simple to find even late at night as was our situation. The staff were very attentive and patient too, when we were practicing our German.

We plan to return to this hotel in order to tour a little in this southern section of the Black Forest.

Hotel Landgasthof Rebstock peaceful & family run

Our stay at the Rebstock was out of season but they were still very accommodating. The food was very nice even to the fact that they got our very fussy son to eat some new things. If you like a quiet but not to far out of the way stay in the Black Forrest then we would recommend this hotel to anybody. Although none of us spoke much if any German we got on OK as most of the staff have a reasonable knowledge of English all in all a very nice place to stay

Charming family hotel

We truly enjoyed our stay in that charming family hotel. It is located in a very small village at about 8 kilometers from Freuburg. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We felt welcome at every moment. A very good value for the money. We will definitely return there.

This is a very friendly family run hotel. The price of the room included an excellent breakfast buffet and for evening meals there was an extensive menu, which included local as well as standard international food.

Pour un hôtel situé à proximité de la France, aucune chaine française à la télévision. Les Français sans doute ne comptent pas. Petit déjeuner sommaire. Restaurant à trouver soi-même et à plusieurs kilomètres.

- der Empfang war alles andere als herzlich. Es gab nicht mal eine Info über die Frühstückszeiten, WLAN etc. Wir wurden auch nicht informiert, dass das Restaurant am Abend geschlossen sein würde, was ärgerlich war, weil wir dann noch nach Abendessen suchen mussten.
- das Haus von außen und das Restaurant sind hübsch. Unser Zimmer war aber altbacken und abgelebt. Kein Zimmer, in dem man gern mehr Zeit verbringt, als nötig.
Es hatte 16°C im Zimmer und die Heizung funktionierte nicht.
- das Frühstück war nicht herausragend, aber ausreichend.
- Der Zimmerservice verstand kaum Deutsch. Wir fragten nach wärmeren Bettdecken, wurden erst sprachlos schulterzuckend angeschaut, dann einfach stehen gelassen.
- Der Zimmerservice liess im Gang für alle einsehbar eine Liste der Zimmerbelegung mit Namen der Gäste etc. liegen.
