Amazing ocean view and lobby. Excellent, friendly and helpful staff, especially Diego. There are lots of stairs to get everywhere on property and it’s not super easy to lug your bags but it is worth it and they have a bellman if you can’t manage it yourself. Absolutely beautiful property!

The room was clean, the staff was all quite friendly and helpful, and the views from the room were spectacular. Only problem was that at night the room became quite cold even with extra blankets our first two nights in spite of adjustments made by one of the employees. The third night, our last night, the temperature in the room was fine.

I explained to the hotel that I was having kidney stone surgery and they refused to offer me a refund. I also tried to book different dates later in the year but the trip turned out to be much more expensive. They don't care and don't respond unless you contact them via email, and several telephone messages. They don't care one bit. The trip protection fee only lasted two weeks. Hotel looks nice but if you cant go expect to lose over $1000 like I did.

We didn’t get our room until 5pm, when check in time was 4. Although,We did get a voucher for the restaurant. Once we were in our room, the room did match the picture. The view was underwhelming for the price we paid. We also found ants on our bed and in the bathroom area. Very disappointing

while the welcome drink was a nice touch, the hotel is located in a lower area with many stairs, which made carrying luggage quite challenging. The loading zone was small, so loading and unloading was inconvenient. Note this hotel does not have elevators so be aware of this when you travel with elderly family members or friends.

As I indicated in m y email to Expedia, I was charged for resort fee, county and state fee and taxes when my Expedia purchase clearly stated that \"what you see is wht you get\". Additionally my room did not have a fireplace as I had paid for. The parking was on an uphill deadend street, the only way out was to bakck up down a hilly street making it hazardous.

Kitchenette consisted of Keurig coffeemaker. Housekeeping provided us with wine glasses and few utensils we requested. Bathroom was fine.

We got an ocean view room but was given an ‘Ada’ room lowest on property which wouldn’t even be accessible for wheelchair users. Room is supposedly refurbished: full kitchen but absolutely no closet, drawers, or even mischief space in bathroom for toiletries. 1 night stand so my husband had to put his toiletries along ledge of fireplace & hang his shirt on the tv. The bathroom light went on with any movement in the room all night long. Fireplace pretty tho. We wouldn’t stay here agsin

The view is not enough. Besides, once it gets dark you can't see the coast.
The stairs. Lots of stairs. Lots of very steep stairs. It's like hiking to Vernal Falls in Yosemite
DO NOT take a room in in Building Q, R or S unless you are very fit and are not carrying luggage.
No help with the bags getting to the room. Yes. We asked for it.
FLYS. In the Dining room. FLYS In the bar at happy hour.
Really annoying.
Self parking is a nightmare. There isn't enough
And if you are lucky enough to find a place to park, its a inclined hiked up and down
The drop off area to unload your bags for Buildings Q, R, and S, is small
The \"two way road\" (Highland Drive) is narrow from HWY 1 to the main building. It is worse from the main building up to the building where your room may be.
The room was spartan in the extreme.
The front door was hard to open from the inside.
The bathroom door was worse. When we closed it, it it loudly jammed shut. It was a bear to yank it open. It made more noise opening than it did when it closed. Seriously, who doesn't notice that and fix it?
I'm sure the guests next door were annoyed by the sounds that door made.

We WILL NOT be back.

The area is very nice, ocean view and pine trees. The building lacks good sound proofing - you can hear people on both sides walking, like they are walking upstairs. The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and there no restaurants close-by. Parking is a bit far from rooms, so it's a walk up and down hills.

We stayed at Highland Inn four days. I was nervous because reviews were mixed. Our ocean view room was nice we did not find it outdated. Housekeeping took good care of us we always had fresh towels and clean room to return to. The breakfasts were wonderful and wait staff exceptional. We had breakfast everyday and husband said breakfast highlight of trip. We had dinner once. We enjoyed it and sunset view was amazing. We found the location very good, close to attractions in area but quiet and peaceful. The property is large. Its alot of walking and stairs. We are in our 60s and did fine but I can see that difficult for some people. Parking was far from our room, we did use valet a few times. But did fine walking it too. Grocery store is nearby and a nice laundry room avaiable at hotel. Gym facility was well equiped. We enjoyed our stay and would go back if in the area again.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, but overall the hotel was understaffed and it showed. The other item of note was the poor bathroom layout. While I understand constraints in older properties, the bathroom has a small single vanity with no lay space for items while having ample wasted space on the opposite wall.

Shout out to Carlos for stepping up and getting us sorted out. The room was super clean and up to date thanks to the cleaning staff. We also enjoyed the bar at sunset service was impressive.

This hotel was very nice. The view from the hotel was amazing. We were in room 513 which did not have a view - it only looks at the rooms in front of it. The room was clean. The beds were super comfy. The sheets were quality. The front desk staff was helpful and friendly.
Our only complaint was the noise - the room above us was LOUD. Maybe the floors are super thin because we were awakened every day way before daylight with floor noise over our heads that was well above average noise level.
We would definitely stay here again but maybe look at the rooms to determine a room that has a nice view.

Struggling hotel with overpriced rates

If I’m paying $850 a night, I expect better service and accommodations than what the local roadside motel has to offer.

This aging hotel fell short of our expectations for the following reasons.

1) The check-in process took 25 minutes. Not because of a line but because of slow service and other upset customers.

2) Upon checking in, you are immediately referred to someone who harasses you about timeshares.

3) The ocean view room we paid extra for smelled musty and the ocean view was blocked by a giant tree.

4) The room had no refrigerator as advertised. No mini fridge was available. This resulted in us having to toss $50 worth of leftovers.

5) The first time we tried taking a shower we noticed the water wouldn’t drain. 9 hours later and the issue was still not resolved.

6) We were provided another room, but it was further away from the amenities and had no ocean view. We were offered no compensation even though we paid more for an ocean view room.

The staff seem unable to make basic decisions without getting a manager involved, who never even has the courtesy to show their face. Overall this was a poor experience and we will not be returning.

The location & view are exceptional. The valet & front desk staff were very good.
The bath had nice shower doors & vanity mirror but overall the room was very poorly designed & equipped & had poor quality of finishes throughout. Nothing coordinated.
ROOM SPECIFIC: no quality of interior design, no refrigerator, curtain over thermostat, lack of good lighting, no chairs other than uncomfortable chairs at small round table, no comfortable chair to lounge & enjoy the view, 1 piece of art in room that was hung 3\" from ceiling to avoid fire alarm, low budget & useless electric fireplace that took up too much of the room, too many floor finishes, no pad & pen, no area information booklet, laminate floor looked & felt cheap, inset run under bed did not align with furniture
BATH SPECIFIC: no quality of interior design, shower tile layout made no sense & felt cheap, no shelf in shower, no shelf in shower room, no trash can in shower room, no mirror in shower room, bad lighting, bad water pressure, one-ply toilet paper, toilet paper holder in location that injured knees
HOUSEKEEPING SPECIFIC: no new hand towels, coffee mugs wiped with cloth instead of changed for new, bed not made properly...only pulled up & tucked at bottom, pillows not fluffed or made nice
OVERALL: At a cost of $674 per night plus taxes & fees, this was an expensive 2 night getaway & was not worth the cost. For this price, I would expect much more quality & service from a hotel. Very overrated property!

Beautify view of ocean/coast.. warning though.. there are TWO DIFFERENT HOTELS HERE.. the room description is NOT necessarily the room you actually get ! the room description stated FULL FRIDGE.. when I called to verify I was told that is the \"Vacation Properties\" not the main resort and that there would be a mini fridge how are you supposed to know when you book then ? so not only was there not a full fridge.. there was NO MINI FRIDGE. Also.. parking is VERY limited and you could end up driving around and around property trying to find a space and makes you not want to leave again in fear of losing a good parkign spot and hving to walk around uphills and down stairs. Be ready..
