Room 107 was a nicely sized double bedroom with great sized flat screen tv with multiple English channels (not just news channels). In room Tea and coffee facilities via a kettle and nespresso type machine. Comfy bed.

Fair bathroom with a shower that was powerful enough (sadly lacks in a lot of hotels but this didn’t).

There a communal area and coffee shop in reception and a back room that has a free to play pool table (I think it was free as it was the convertible dining room type table)

For our one night hotel was perfect the only big bear for me is not being able to turn the room temperature down to 18 - I could set the thermostat but it wouldn’t actually come on to cool. I guess it is set to winter mode and again another big issue for me as I like a cooler room.
However I would recommend this hotel if you are staying in Oostende.

Small rooms, Extremely rude staff members who went off limits screaming, insulting a single mother with 3 young children, who nicely explained that instead of 5 nights, will be only staying for one night. Had full refunds from Expedia! The hotel itself is the worst choice you may fall on. We went to the Hotel Bero, Great and big rooms, free daily breakfast, the hotel has a Spa and a beautiful swimming pool.

Overall a rather good experience in this small but practical room. However, one of the sockets next to the bed was not working, the shower head holder was loose (meaning that the water was directed to the wall rather than to our body, which makes it more difficult to shower) and the sink was either completely blocked OR we didn't manage to open the sink stopper. Also not suitable for light sleepers as you can hear people talking in the room next door (one pair of ear plugs was provided in the room). Coffee, tea and two bottle of waters were provided in the room.

The room was very clean. A bit on the small side, but manageable. The heating system was difficult to use and seemed to keep resetting to 23C from our desired 18C, and the fan in the WC did not work. Staff, bistro and morning breakfast was very good! Would come back again!

Nice hotel in a good location, approx 3-5 mins walk to the beach. Clean, comfortable beds and appears to have been recently renovated.
However, as others have said, this hotel is advertised as having parking facilities and was the reason I chose it over others. As another reviewer has stated, the hotel only has 9 guest spaces and I had to leave my car in an underground car park at €25 a night.
I would stay here again but a little honesty is needed with the description of the parking facilities.

The hotel was ok. The staff was very kind and helpful, the rooms were clean, modern and very big which was great for our family of 4. The breakfast was also great and had many choices to choose from. The location was great too as it was a 5-minute walk from the beach and all the restaurants and shopping in the city. However, there was only 1 elevator which was very small and could hardly fit 4 people, and it would take forever to come. There was also no Air Conditioning in the entire hotel including the rooms which was terrible considering how hot it was. They had left one or two fans per room which did not even help. The hotel was ok, however it does need some revamping including installing A/C for the summer time.

Great place to stay.

I and my friend have stayed at the Leopold many times and have never had to complain once.The staff are friendly and courteous and go out of their way to make you want to return.The rooms are clean and tidy with coffee and tea for free refreshments.The breakfast as many items available for many tastes including fruit juices,coffe or tea,and toast or fresh rolls with lots of cheese and ham and fresh fruit to boot.Who would not want to stay there again !!

Small lift that can get congested at rush hour and limited parking in the hotel to be aware off, but if you can find street parking it's reasonably priced and well located to walk to the beach.

Good location but the hotel itself is old and felt more like I was staying in someone’s house then a hotel. You can hear everything - floors creaking, people showering (i.e. water running/draining) etc. The room was very small and there was no chair; there was a very small ‘closet’ next to the bed that would fit a few items of clothing, there was a big ceiling lamp that was hung so low, I kept nodding my head. I just felt like the room space wasn’t properly thought out. Old carpeting too. When I arrived, the person manning the front desk was talking to someone at the bar (the hotel is also a restaurant) and I had to go and ask if I was in the right place to check in because she didn’t even acknowledge my arrival with a greeting. Breakfast buffet offered decent variety but a bit steep (14 Euro) and the room itself is tiny so it gets cluttered very quickly.

Nice city centre hotel. SatNav & google maps took us to the wrong place but after a couple of goes we managed to see the hotel sign. We were too late for parking but due to the time it only cost us about 4 Euros for the evening and the morning (I think there were no charges from 20:00 until 09:00 and the ticket lasted us until 11:00).
Breakfast was good and relatively cheap - 5 Euros each when booked with the room.
Bar was expensive but expected in a hotel.

From the day I arrived the staff was not friendly and seemed to not like their job. My room had a strong and foul odor which, like every other request during my stay, received no attention or action. I was told that the concerns during my stay would be addressed but not one of them was, ever. The best part of the stay was breakfast, which was fresh and offered many options. Aside from this, what could be a fantastic boutique hotel was marred mostly because of the staff. Only on the last morning when I checked out, a new person was working who had a friendly and helpful personality. I will select a different hotel next time.

When I booked I requested a room with one double and 2 single beds. This was clearly written on the booking form!! The room I got was tiny and contained 2 single beds pushed together to make a double. When we showed the booking form to the staff we were told I could not have what was requested on the booking form and it was Expedia's fault! Great hotel for a short stay in Ostend

We were in Ostend to meet up with friends. This hotel was ideal, located near to the Casino just 2 mins from the sea, newly renovated, clean, comfortable, great breakfast which was free!! For one night the room was big enough however if I was staying for longer I would pay the extra for a bigger on the sea front. There is a shower which is open to the room which might not be suitable for everyone with a separate toilet with basin.

There was a problem with the elevator in the morning which simewhat spoiled the experience although stayed helpful throughout. Beeakfast: ok

Hotel is quieter than some, esp rooms facing the small side street. One small ancient and very slow lift: if you have a low-floor room, much faster to walk up the stairs! Even on 6th floor, I usually walked down at least. Gluten-free bread for breakfast if you ask, good variety of other stuff. Large suites have refrigerators, but other rooms don't, and that would be a very nice addition. Bathroom has window into bed area, small shade for privacy, a bit akward. No place to set toiletries in shower but plenty in bathroom. Close to various stores (kind of between neighborhoods).

Very convenient to the Kursaal, shopping areas, yet much quieter than
other hotels which are on main drags or near tram lines. Fire alarms were going
off frequently for two nights. They eventually got it fixed, but staff
gave no thought of refunding. Everthing very worn. B'fast fairly good
selection, good coffee/cappucino/etc maker, but overall quality of stuff
(from cereals to the cheese to the yoguyrt) not high. Had Gluten-less
bread, but was awful (hint: go to the nearby \"BioShop\", and get the
packages of pre-sliced wholegrain GF bread, was pretty good). Heat did not
work (an overhead vent thing - turns on, makes noise, but no increase
in temperature after 2hr). Good/plenty of hot water. Windows open,
in my room there was a kettle and could use teas from b'fast room as
well as coffee....no way to say \"do not disturb\" or \"no service, please\", which was problematic due to the cleaning solution used (I'm chemically-sensitive), although linens/towels were generally OK. No safe in room. Wifi pretty good. Bathroom had window to sleeping room,
privacy only by blinds that were not, er, very private. OK by yourself,
weird if traveling with someone else. Pillows were seriously cotton
bags of foam pieces; duvet cover had a 2cm hole/burn in it. Panel to
control lights/etc weird, additional indications of electrical problems;
lighting in the room was quite dim.

Hotel room was on the small side - not a problem.

The toilet and bathroom are part of the bedroom separated by a sliding door, so either the toilet or bathroom has to be open at all times. You sleep very close to the toilet. This would have been ok but the room stank of bleach. It was overpowering. Even leaving the window open on a very cold and windy night didn't help.

Breakfast was average.

Decided to treat ourselves and booked a suite with sauna. Reading the description it sounded like the hotel had a garage so we could park there for a surcharge. When we arrived we were told they didn't have their own car park and were directed to the nearest one which was near the Casino, a 5 minute walk away. Cost 23 Euros for 2 days. There's free 15 minute street parking outside the hotel so enough time to unload luggage. The suite was clean but bed not too comfortable. Only two small bottles and two sachets of shower gel provided. Buffet breakfast was adequate but no member of staff around to take our room number and explain what the choices were. When we checked in we were waiting so long for the receptionist to deal with the customer in front of us that my husband had to go on his own to move the car as the 15 minutes was nearly up.

Okay hotel near beach and shopping center

Having requested and paid for a deluxe double room we were surprised.
The pictures on the site are misleading as you expect to get a room with a nice seating area and end up with a desk.
We requested a double bed ang got twins.
The whole hotel is non smoking but as Belgium is still very much a smoking country you have to enter the hotel through a smoke screen as the smokers stand in front of the entrance.
The lift is very small and slow for a hotel of that size. It says to hold 6 but in reality it is only 2 if you have luggage and is very slow.
The breakfast bar was a nice spread but the understaffed. The lady could not clear up fast enough to make tables available and keep the buffet going.
Milk without cooling in rather warm conditions.
For a hotel of that reputation you would expect a fridge and a safe in the rooms. There weren't any.
The rooms were very clean all the time.
Once we got over our first disappointment we had a nice stay there. But I am not sure we will be going there again.

The room stank, it was tiny and the shower curtain was growing mould up about a foot from the bottom. The floor had a strang matting which was the sorce of the smell, it was very dirty and wet. Breakfast was surprisingly good.

Fabulous Location, Staff, and Accommodations!

My husband, mother-in-law, toddler, and I recently spent one night at the Mondo Hotel in Ostend. I can not say enough about this hotel. It was fabulous in every way! The staff spoke perfect English. The complimentary breakfast was lovely. We had a \"superior\" room (two rooms sharing a bathroom) which allowed my mother-in-law to have her own room at no additional cost. The beds were comfortable. The location is ideal- two blocks from the beach and two blocks from a town square with many restaurants. Our only complaint was that we were kept awake most of the night due to howling wind, but that has nothing to do with the hotel. My husband and I plan to return to Oostende this summer and will make every effort to stay at the Mondo Hotel again!

The hotel was nice but perhaps not advertised in the best manner, when we arrived I asked about where to park and was given a map of the town with parking areas marked on it which were blocks away from the hotel. I mentioned that on hotels.com it said the hotel had a parking garage, they said yes but only 9 spaces for all their rooms on a first come first serve basis! Because we didn't feel like leaving our car outside in a busy town centre we were forced to fork out a further 22 Euros parking in an underground parking by the casino. I wish I had known this because I specifically booked a hotel that said it had parking!
If that doesn't bother you, then it's a nice hotel and not a far walk from the shopping centre and beach. But as I said we were expecting parking so finding that to be non-existent was very disappointing indeed.

Mondo Hotel Ostend

In my opinion, wherever I travel, it is the people i encounter that make a place worth returning to or not, more than any other thing. All the people in Belgium seem to be wonderful, helpful, educated, charming souls, (even the police vehicles have Polite written on them - and they are) and none more so than the 6 staff members i saw and spoke to in my short stay. I travelled with 3 children and a baby, my husband could not come with me, and I was nervous about language barriers and different cultures and food, but as soon as I spoke to the receptionist, all nerves left me. He and his colleagues are fluent in French German and English and were completely calm and professional. How wonderful. The only imperfect thing was the map on the website. It implied that Ostend is a small simple town, and I struggled to find the hotel on my assumption, until the kind, aforementioned Polite (police) lady directed me. Thank you for being so close to perfect.

L'hôtel est bien situé, proche de la plage et du centre ville. L'espace commun est agréable et cosy. Le personnel est accueillant, la chambre propre et spacieuse il manque juste le stationnement l'hôtel n'ayant pas de parking attitré alors qu'il est fait mention d'un parking dans le descriptif. Le stationnement se fait dehors dans la rue payant et limité à 4h ou dans un parking payant à proximité.

Leider waren wir von unserem Aufenthalt sehr enttäuscht. Das Hotel war insgesamt nicht sauber; sowohl im Zimmer als auch im Bad gab es an mehreren Stellen Schimmel, was absolut inakzeptabel ist. Das Mobiliar ist beschädigt, stark abgenutzt und deutlich in die Jahre gekommen.

Ein weiteres großes Problem war der Aufzug: viel zu klein und extrem langsam. Morgens mussten wir teilweise bis zu 15 Minuten warten, um überhaupt fahren zu können.

Das angebotene Nachhaltigkeitskonzept überzeugt ebenfalls nicht. Wer auf die Zimmerreinigung verzichtet, erhält einen 5-€-Gutschein für die Bar, was in keiner Relation zum Verzicht steht. Sinnvoller wäre ein Angebot abhängig von der Personenanzahl, z. B. Getränke oder ein kleines Präsent.

Für Kinder wird nichts Besonderes geboten, was das Hotel für Familien wenig attraktiv macht. Zudem war das Personal wenig hilfsbereit, es gab keinerlei Empfehlungen oder Tipps zur Stadt oder zu Sehenswürdigkeiten.

Insgesamt entsprach der Aufenthalt nicht unseren Erwartungen, und wir würden dieses Hotel so leider nicht weiterempfehlen.
