This hotel is in a great location, right on the beach, close to lots of restaurants and shoppes. There are games to play in the lobby, which is fun.

The only issue I had was that it is a smoke-free property however there were clearly people smoking on our floor, which made our stay less comfortable. Also, in the lobby, they would leave the sliding door open and people would stand right in the entry way and smoke constantly, making the entire lobby, including the bar and games area super smoky, which we found off-putting and nauseating. Unfortunately, the smoking everywhere was the one negative of our experience.

The Upstairs hotel was a very stylish and fun hotel just steps from the beach. The staff was really friendly and helpful! One small point is if you do book one of the small/cheap rooms, they aren't easily accessible via the lifts. You will need to go down a couple of flights of stairs which can be tough with heavy luggage. Otherwise I highly recommend this hotel when staying in Ostend!

I booked at noon for the night. One hour later I receive a call that my payment was refused... In the train there was nothing I could do apart of paying at arrival... At the check in I had to pay 30 euro more... For a room where the shower is switching on every 5 minutes and a TV that switches off at the same pace... And to finish I be been awaken by a crazy cleaning machine ... What a hell

Beachfront hotel, centrally located

A nice hotel very close to the beach. As a previous reviewer said, it has a contemporary industrial feel to it (think black metal shelving & concrete grey industrial vibes) but with yellow pops of color (towels and toiletries). There is a large yellow children’s slide in the lower lobby area that seemed to be a big hit w/ families.

Positives:
—Friendly and helpful front desk
—Very convenient location— many restaurants nearby and a supermarket one block over.
—Breakfast was great, would recommend—make sure to tell the front desk the night before if you plan to have breakfast in the hotel.
—No parking attached to the hotel but ample paid parking just around the corner, approximately 25 Euro’s per 24 hours, which is fairly normal for secure and centrally located parking in major European cities.

Minor Downsides:
—Cleaning could have been a little better— some dust on the shelving that stood out on the black shelving, but nothing major.
—There is no telephone in the room (which can be a hassle if you need to get in touch w/ the front desk)
—There is no coffee machine or hot water kettle to make a cup of coffee or tea, so plan ahead if that is important to you.

Overall a nice place to stay— would recommend for the quick access to the beach, friendly vibe, and great breakfast.

Good location n stay

Hotel is quite new so everything was still new. The room was very spacious but the bed was not very comfortable. Note that there is a fridge but no coffee n tea facilities. Breakfast was worth it with a good variety.
The slide was fun for my 5year old kid. The location is near the beach.

This was a wonderful find. Only stayed one night but would happily stay longer. The rooms are pretty basic but impressively decorated. The bathroom is functional with a great shower. Beds were comfortable.

Loved the interior decor, and fun layout, had a contemporary industrial feel, lots of fun, including indoor slide. Staff really helpful and friend and spoke English.

Didn’t stay for breakfast but had a peak and looked impressive. Parking can be expensive but arriving late, found a street parking spot nearby and by leaving before 9am, parking was free. (Park after 9pm, leave before 9am)

Met the owner who was really nice and tried his fantastic Van Bulck organic beer! Location is twenty yards from beach and not much further to town centre.

Loved the decor and common areas, very trendy place and brilliant location and price for our stay, but our room was missing aircon, we did not sleep well due to the temperatures. Also the wifi at the hotel was intermittent, luckily I managed to get on long enough to check in for my flight home so didnt have to complain at reception. I have to say the reception staff were a little unfriendly and disinterested when we encountered them so glad not much interaction was required...

Great hotel!

We stayed for one night. Ate in the attached restaurant. It was quite pricey but Belgium is generally. The family room was just what we needed with enough privacy and space. Clean and comfortable. The communal facilities were exceptional and my teenage boys had a great time playing ping pong and sliding down the shute. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. A friendly and fun hotel to stay in. We’ll be back!

Good for a short stay by the Belgian seafront

Great location, shame does not have local free parking or a subsidized parking but the hotel staff was really helpful in suggesting a convenient location to park.
The hotel has been recently refurbished and has some good modern features. The room was spacious for a short stay and comfortable.
Quiet location very close to the beach.
Only negative is the restaurant service that is advertised even in the room, but probably because out of high season, seems completely optional to follow by the restaurant staff, we were turned away at 20.30 when the restaurant should have closed at 22.

Hotel looked impressive at first glance. Easy check in but soon as I saw the room - 606, which was dark and airless, I went down to ask for different room. We were given the room next door-605, which was slightly better- at least the small window was by the bed which is essential as there's no aircon but the 2 rooms looked out into a black hole,hence no air could get through the window! I spent 3 nights unable to sleep Breakfast was not great and very expensive- you have to pay as you walk in- they won't accept charging to your room nor pre paid! Avoid any rooms ending with with numbers..05 or ..06

Das Personal war sehr freundlich und bemüht. Das Ambiente ist sehr modern. Die Zimmer sind sauber und das Design war einfach, aber extrem durchdacht. Besonders gut gefiel mir tatsächlich die Lage und dass es mal endlich genügend Milchdöschen zum Kaffee gab. 😀

Zeer goed en vriendelijke ontvangst. Alle medewerkers waren supervriendelijk en behulpzaam. Het is een modern en trendy hotel met een hippe inrichting. Het ontbijt is meer dan de moeite om erbij te boeken. Als er iets is wat we kunnen aanmerken is het dat er in de lounge 's avonds enkel chips aanwezig waren als snack. De kamer was netjes en oppervlakkig proper, maar bij aankomst had de lavabo nog een gekleurde kring van een glas dat er had op gestaan en de spoelbak van het toilet was nog bestoft. Ook het stalen bedframe met gaatjes was niet afgekuist. Toen we na een paar dagen de kamer lieten proper maken waren dezelfde items niet propergemaakt. De handdoeken zijn ook heel trendy in geel en zwart maar roken heel muf. Het glasgordijn in de kamer was toe aan een wasbeurt. Het hotel plant een boom wanneer je er expliciet voor kiest om je kamer niet te laten poetsen tijdens je verblijf, wat wel een mooi initiatief is. Helaas werd er juist aan een groot gebouw in de straat gewerkt waardoor er al van 's ochtends vroeg lawaai te horen was. De laatste nacht was er een koppel met een baby in de kamer naast ons en merkten we dat de muren tussen de kamers wel heel dun waren. Weinig slaap gehad die nacht. We hebben ook een kartonnetje tussen de deur van de kamer naar de hal gestoken 's nachts omdat er trok op stond waardoor de deur rammelde. Lijkt allemaal misschien wat negatief maar de aangename setting en personeel maken het tot een heel leuk verblijf vlakbij het strand en de winkels!

Geweldig uitgebreid ontbijt. Voor de stijl, industrieel, moet je voor zijn. Niet echt mijn ding. Personeel, sommige waren vriendelijk maar sommige waren minder. Locatie perfect voor winkelstraat, strand en casino. Zeer moelijk parkeergelegenheid. Verplicht in dure parking te parkeren.
